Debuting on May 23, the brand new 2025 Nightly Fireworks & Drones Show kicks off. The finale celebrates the fun, thrilling moments and memories of a summer day spent at Kings Island. The show will run nightly through Aug. 31 when the park is open until 10:00 p.m.

RiverRacers Water Coaster opens on May 24 at Soak City.  Along with RiverRacers, the new kids play area, Splash River Junction opens as well. Soak City will be open daily through Aug. 17 and weekends from Aug. 19 – Sept. 1. 

Live Entertainment begins on May 24 through Sept. 1. From an extreme stunt show and a gazillion bubbles to fireworks and live music, Kings Island’s 2025 live entertainment line-up has something for everyone.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of Kings Island’s past in this episode of The Partridge Family that was filmed at the park in 1972.  Episode Description: While the Partridges perform several days at an amusement park, the park’s public relations host is assigned to help them with any need that they might have during their stay. At their first meeting, Keith and Danny both quickly develop a crush on her. When will tickets go on sale?   

1. Friday, February 28 at 10:00 a.m. at www.visitkingsisland.com    Event details: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/coasterstock
2. Those purchasing tickets will need the name of each attendee they are purchasing tickets for, coaster club affiliation, t-shirt size. 
3. An active membership card from one of the approved roller clubs must be presented upon check-in for entry to this event and its activities. Materials for Coasterstock will be shipped directly to all U.S. residents using the provided Billing/Shipping Address. Participants from outside the U.S. will be contacted to arrange the delivery of materials.
4. Ticket sales will end when capacity is reached.

Is there a ticket limit?

Up to eight tickets may be purchased with each transaction. When purchasing tickets, please have all information (name/t-shirt size/Coaster Club information,etc.) ready for each person you are purchasing tickets for.

When will the schedule of activities be published?

Will you be enjoying Coasterstock in 2025?

The park has confirmed with KICentral that this will become a new Coke Refill and ICEE Stand. In addition to Coke Refill machines, it will also serve ICEE's to go along with the new upgraded drink plan that includes ICEEs. 

Additionally, the park let us know that more ICEE machines are being delivered to the park to accommodate the extra demand for ICEE's. Construction on the new stand will begin in the fall of 2024. Be on the lookout here for updates. 

2024 was another year for the history books. Well, in our case, the Timeline of Kings Island history page on our main site. Here's a summary of the key events at Kings Island in 2024:

• On January 24, 2024, Kings Island announced three Planet Snoopy rides would become a part of Camp Snoopy with new names:
  • Race for Your Life Charlie is now Charlie Brown’s Rushing River Log Ride.
  • Flying Ace Aerial Chase is now Woodstock’s Air Rail
  • Woodstock Gliders is now Franklin’s Flyer
• On May 24, 2024, Kings Island opened Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers and Beagle Scout Acres, a new playground area for younger children.
• On July 1, 2024, Cedar Fair, L.P. (“Cedar Fair”) and former Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (“Former Six Flags”) merged. Kings Island is now owned by the “Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.”

Kings Island fans quickly made Winterfest a family tradition once again when Cedar Fair (now Six Flags) reintroduced it in 2017. The excitement continues this year as families prepare to enjoy the park's WinterFest.

Why do dedicated fans call the current WinterFest 'WinterFest v3.0'? Let's uncover the story behind this intriguing moniker.

WinterFest v1.0

The original Kings Island WinterFest debuted in 1982, a year before the Cincinnati Zoo's "Festival of Lights." Over the years, millions of guests enjoyed this holiday tradition. However, when Paramount Communications acquired the park, they extended the fall operating season, leaving insufficient time to prepare for WinterFest. As a result, the beloved event was discontinued after the 1992 season

WinterFest v2.0

On July 25, 2005, Kings Island announced the return of WinterFest after a thirteen-year hiatus. The 2005 WinterFest featured iconic decorations like the Eiffel Tower transformed into a towering Christmas tree and the Royal Fountain converted into an ice skating rink. The Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad became the White Christmas Express, complete with 1940s-era characters. However, in 2006, Cedar Fair announced the cancellation of this second incarnation of WinterFest.

WinterFest v3.0

In the summer of 2016, Kings Island announced the return of WinterFest for the 2017 holiday season. This new version of WinterFest debuted on Friday, November 24, 2017, and is included free for Gold and Platinum pass holders. As Brad continued to add more photos, and the forums continued to grow, we started to max out our space on the current server. Brad ran the server out of space multiple times during the documentation of Adventure Port and the 2023 season. At that point, Brad and Matthew Middleton, the KIC Website Director, knew they had to do something to keep the website going. In late 2023, we started with a fresh web server and picked out a new theme to build out our main website. We have been working since then to rebuild the current website pages into the new website and give them a modern look. Our original graphic designer, Lee, also took our vision for the website and created the new logos.

Join Snoopy and the Beagle Scouts next year at Kings Island’s new Camp Snoopy. Opening in 2024, the expansion of the park’s award-winning Planet Snoopy kids’ area will feature Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers, a brand-new family roller coaster that races both forward and backward; and Beagle Scout Acres, an area where kids can run, crawl, play or relax with the family in a shaded comfortable space. 

Experience new ways for kids and families to play at Kings Island with Camp Snoopy. It’s guaranteed to feel like a day at camp where you can play your way by exploring and relaxing in the great outdoors with Snoopy and the Beagle Scouts. Members of the Peanuts gang will lead you in Camptivities where you can raise the flag up the flagpole, light a campfire or make the camp bugle sound! Then, when you need a break, sit with the whole family and enjoy a snack.

Snoopy's Soap Box Racers

Families and children will love this boomerang coaster that sends riders down a thrilling launch hill and hits speeds of up to 36 m.p.h. The 672-foot racetrack is filled with twists and turns making it the soap box derby no one will forget.

Due to the favorable weather conditions in December and so far in January, the construction project of Camp Snoopy is on schedule. According to the KI Blog, all of the excavating and site preparations have been completed. The construction crew is also done with foundation work for the new roller coaster, Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers. The next step in the project is the placing supports and track pieces in for 672 ft roller coaster. Two track pieces are already on site at Kings Island. The construction crews are eager to sit the first piece of track in place. Station construction is expected to be finished by April.

There is no specific opening date for Camp Snoopy at this time. The only timeline we have from the park is in 2024. KICentral members are hoping that means by Memorial Day Weekend or sooner. Hopefully the favorable weather conditions continue and we will see Camp Snoopy open earlier in the season rather than later. While we wait for that date, Camp Snoopy promises exciting adventures for both the smallest guests and the young at heart.

Don Helbig is still at Kings Island with the position of Area Manager, Digital Marketing. Don states, "My position has evolved into two distinctive different jobs between PR and social media. The majority of my time had become on the digital side since 2014, so it has made for a very easy transition for me."

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself? 

I grew up in the Cincinnati area, and as a boy my family would visit Kings Island about once a year.  My parents weren’t roller coaster riders, so my first major roller coaster was the Magnum XL 200 at Cedar Point when I was 11 years old, which I rode on a trip with friends. From that point on my theme park visits focused on thrill rides. In high school I worked at Rivertown Pizza for multiple seasons doing everything from working the line to grating cheese. During college I was the supervisor of the seasonal Human Resources team and managed the Group Volunteer Program.  I have had a Kings Island season pass for nearly 20 years.  These days I spend a lot of my time in Planet Snoopy with my family, but still find time to take in the coasters and other attractions. 

2. How long have you been in Public Relations?

I’ve worked in public relations, communications and marketing for nearly 20 years, from agencies to small and medium-sized businesses.  Most recently I served as the Senior Marketing and Communications manager for Newport Aquarium, just across the river from downtown Cincinnati.

3. What drew you to apply for the director of communications position at Kings Island? 

The Kings Island marketing team has a reputation for being one of the best in the industry, and the chance to possibly join that team was a once-in-a-career opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

4. What are you most excited about in your new position at Kings Island?

 I’m most excited to help tell the stories of the people who experience this incredible park and what’s happening here.

5. How does it feel to go to work at Kings Island with coasters and rides outside your office?

It’s incredible.  Knowing that less than a hundred feet away from my office there are kids, families and thrill seekers entering the park for the first time, and others walking down International Street who have been coming to Kings Island for years, reminds me of how important our job is- to help them create memories together and make Kings Island a place they want to return for years to come. 

My office looks out at one of the employee behind-the-scenes paths, and on Fridays during Halloween Haunt I’ve enjoyed watching a parade of hundreds of scare-actors passing by my window on their way to work. 

6. Are there certain types of rides you don't like? 

No. I always ride trying to understand the intention of the ride.  Is it for Thrills? Family moments? Nostalgia? There are some rides I love because my kids like them and I love watching their reactions and sharing that experience with them.  Other rides I love because I grew up riding them, and, of course, some because of the speed and thrills.  If there’s one ride I don’t care to ride at Kings Island, it would be Boo Blasters- but only because my wife gets a higher score than me every single time.

7. What is your favorite ride at Kings Island?

The Beast, but Mystic Timbers is a close second.  Like so many others in this area, Flight of Fear was my first LIM launched coaster, so it’s also near the top of my list.
