  1. Past hour
  2. thats JIm Lahey,, from TPB lol have youe ver seen that show?
  3. I think it'll end up getting demolished to make room for more rides. It takes up a lot of space like you said, and it doesn't get used hardly at all anymore. I think it would be cool for them to use it for concerts more regularly, but I just dont see it happening at this point. I don't think it'll get demolished this season, but I can see it getting torn down in the coming years. I think it'll have one or two things happen a year with it at most, and that's it until its demolished. However, I could see it being tore down and turned into an alternate entrance route for entering the park. That way people walk right through it and it doesn't feel so out of the way.
  4. Timberwolf has played a major part of KI history and at one point was the main venue for big acts coming to the Cincinnati area. However, over the last 2 decades we have seen the venue be used for concerts less and less with more nicer concert venues being built in and around the area with another big venue set to be built where Coney Island used to be. The park tried a concert series for the 50th anniversary in 2022, but from what was observed the venue wasn't even half full for most of the concerts which likely was the reason the park didn't bring them back in 2023. For 2023, the park brought back the Spirit Song festival which was the main event Timberwolf was used for before Covid. However, for some reason Spirit Song isn't planned for this season and there has been no mention of it which is very odd. This brings me to this question, what does the future hold for Timberwolf? As of right now, the only thing likely planned for Timberwolf is using it for the awards ceremonies for Music in the Parks which takes place on weekends in April and May. However, long term I'm not sure keeping Timberwolf, a 10,000 seat venue for just a school music awards ceremony is really needed and would be a waste of space as Timberwolf sits on prime land at the front of the park. In 2021, I believe the park used International Showplace for the awards ceremonies. This leads me to this question. What do you think will happen to Timberwolf this season and beyond? Will the park surpsise us with another round of concerts this season similar to what Carowinds is doing? Will they just use it for Music in the parks then just let it sit there empty the rest of the season? Will it be demolished for new attraction/s in the coming years? Lets speculate below.
  5. Today
  6. Just know, if you're going on your own, they need pairs of riders for Thunderbolt due to it having ancient trains with no seat dividers and it's a lateral G monster. IT does have a pseudo-single rider line at the station though.
  7. I'm planning to make my first trip to Kennywood in July. I'm disappointed that I won't get to ride Steel Curtain even though I don't like the Steelers. Hopefully they'll be able to figure out exactly what the problem is and get everything operational by next year.
  8. So I’ve watched videos of both SSBR and Good Gravy! now and I have to say, SSBR looks like a much more intense ride. I thought these would have very similar intensity levels but the custom layout Holiday World ordered looks intentionally designed to be a bit milder. SSBR has quite a bit of whip and kick to it. I think it’ll be a great time! Def enjoy the theming and execution of Good Gravy’s rollout a lot more though haha I’m also just now noticing that the spike on Good Gravy doesn’t have the double up-double down element that we get on SSBR. I am curious if that hump will give a decent little pop of air since it makes it up the spike quite further than I was expecting.
  9. For 600 some odd feet of track, it looks like a bigger ride. (Yes, I know this is all boomerangs)
  10. From what I've heard online, it seems the issues with Steel Curtain stem from the support structure not being adequate enough. I cannot confirm this though, as I am not a ride engineer.
  11. Yesterday
  12. This reminds me of Hypersonic XLC's tenure at KD when it comes to something familiar from S&S.
  13. The one thing I've never really understood was what problems does this coaster actually have....like they keep saying it's a prototype, but beyond that, what about it is causing downtime?
  14. Steel Curtain seems to be a money pit, no matter how much work they put into it, it just doesn't seem to fix it.
  15. In the same vein that I ask 'how does Intamin screw up a log flume?', how does S&S screw up a sit down looper with a chain lift?
  16. Oh boy https://www.wtae.com/article/kennywood-steel-curtain-closed/60526570
  17. ^It makes it up the spike pretty high for being loaded only with water dummies.
  18. Snoopy's Soapbox Racers has started testing! Imo I think it is very likely we may see this thing open around the time of the ACE Spring Conference in May! Maybe the weekend before? Hoping that is the case!
  19. Why didn't you add 365 days in front of it then?
  20. Current wait time for Orion: 47 hours, and 55 minutes lol Also the red headline says 2023 not 2024
  21. Please use this thread to update wait times for the 2024 season! Please remember a ride going down is normal and it's okay to report, but please don't post "Riders are stuck on the lift hill of DB." A vague statement like that is not helpful and that is when the media starts calling the park. We hope you are excited to get the 2024 season started. This season we celebrate 4 different anniversary seasons. 10th for Banshee 15th for Diamondback 25th for Invertigo 45th for The Beast With the addition of Camp Snoopy and a new Vekoma roller coaster to ride later this Spring, it is sure to be a great season! The KIC Admin looks forward to seeing everyone at the park this season.
  22. I think a troll would be someone with no skin in the game. You have said that you no longer have passes and your main park was CP, correct? And that you no longer frequent the parks? So you've moved on? When most people have moved in to other things, they don't stay on forums and argue with the majority of posters ad nauseum. This is the only internet specific forum site I'm on, and while you may stick around to ruffle feathers, I'm debating on putting you on "ignore" status or watching what you post for some humor.
  23. I'm probably one of the few that misses it. I will say that I am grateful for Orion and in terms of re-rideability and enjoyment, Orion is definitely the winner here. But that doesn't negate the fact that I do miss Firehawk. It was something different compared to the rest of the coaster line-up and with there not being a ton of flying coasters out there in general/especially Vekoma Flying Dutchmen, it was unique in that regard. Not to mention it being a GL transplant, it had some history behind it. Sad that it couldn't be relocated, but understandable. Maybe some day we will see a new Vekoma flying coaster stateside.
  24. @IndyGuy4KI are you planning on making a ride wait times thread for this season like you usually do?
