  2. Several restaurants at Kings Island did do this last year by having monthly specials. They were extras instead of replacing something on the regular menu. They also did not appear on the menu boards but were instead on little signs in the restaurant, Brewhouse for instance had different specials most months. The park NEEDS to do a better job at communicating these kinds of things. Maybe something in the app or a monthly post on the blog, but it needs to be communicated somehow. Here are the specials from July at the Brewhouse. If you check the thread from last year I know people were randomly posting the specials.
  3. I hope he blossoms this season. I didn't see him around as much as Chef Major and Chef Nate, but I was very impressed when Meteor Canteen had new employees last may, and were short staffed. He came in and worked the location. When an executive does the work of a front line worker, it speaks volumes to me.
  4. Late post, here is my trip report for my most recent trip to Orlando. I arrived in Orlando and spent the first day getting settled in. The next day I visited Epcot for their Flower and Garden Festival. As far as the Flower and Garden Festival goes, the food was as one would expect from Disney. The decorations and gardening around the park to match the theme of the festival was much better than what they did for Christmas. The following day I taken a break from amusement parks and enjoyed an ECHL game of the Jacksonville Icemen vs the Orlando Solar Bears. Being an interstate matchup made for great play and scuffles. One thing I really enjoyed about this matchup was not having any emotional attachment to either team. Therefor there was no stress on my end. I highly suggest anyone who has a love for any sport to do the same. The day before my flight out, I spent the day at Seaworld Orlando and participated in the Seven Seas Food Festival. Between the 40% discount voucher for merchandise, free feeding tray for the sharks, and a single use quick queue that I got to use this visit. Seaworld & Busch Gardens go to great lengths to show appreciation to their passholders. This was even further exemplified when they provided an additional 3 tastings to pass members who participated in the festival. For the festival one thing I've noticed as a change from this year from the previous is they increased the portions and provided a better variety of food options. My favorite meal by far was the Moroccan lamp chops, with garlic mashed potatoes and tzatziki sauce. Overall, this was a great trip to get out of the cold weather of Ohio.
  5. I kind of did the same thing...I mean he came from a Casino/Hotel in Missouri, so it's not like he's not had any "big world" experience...but it seems like it's just been adding a little bit more cilantro to the chicken tenders or the food at Enrique's. The one thing I really liked at Cedar Point this past season with Grand Pavilion, was that they changed options about 1/2 way through the season....my favorite was the Herb Roasted Turkey at the beginning of the season and then they switched that out for Honey Glazed Chicken Drumsticks which I loved as well. I don't understand how KI has never really changed up their options, especially since the addition of restaurants and the meal plans. From Kings Island welcomes new executive chef and opens new restaurant | InPark Magazine: Almost a year later, I doubt that the amount of guests would agree and would share that the park has unique food offerings. At least there is tap water, though not unique.

  7. I chalked up the 2023 season as Chef Perez's rookie season, a season for him to get comfortable in his position then with this season he'd spread his wings and showcase his true culinary talents. If what we are seeing is more of the same. Basically, comfort food as the only options provided, I don't see why the park would keep him around. I've never met or seen an "executive chef" working at Skyline, Larosa's, Panda Express, or other similar comfort food restaurants the park provides outside of the park.
  8. It’s quite telling about how this year will go based on the fact that the other parks are showing off their lavish dishes that are new for 2024 and KI booked a photo shoot for their pizza and fries.
  9. Also I forgot how full and thriving the trees were at the front of the park. I miss that view
  10. Sounds like a good upcharge opportunity, right @Tr0y
  11. It is a shame because Kings Island was leading the pack when Chef Nathan and then Chef Majors were at the helm. It's great to present new food items but the implementation is key. Grain and grill is awesome for the sides, but the protein, in my experience, has been subpar. And could they please listen to the customer and remove the bone in chicken and replace with boneless skinless breasts?
  12. Grain and Grill had a massive problem last year with the meats being dry by the time they were served to guests. It makes little difference how good they start if they are dry and tough when served. Is it being over cooked, or held in the warmer too long I have no idea. Cedar Points food has finally been improving the last few years and over the same period Kings Islands has definitely gotten worse. Having been to almost all of the parks in the chain in the last two years except for the two California parks. I would rank Kings Island ahead of all the smaller parks in the chain but easily dead last among the larger parks. Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, and Canadas Wonderland all had better food and often more choice. I want to see more food options around the park but would likely be happier if they worked on quality and consistency.
  13. Commence people cupping their hands for said free water instead of using a containment device because of the upcharge. To make it spicy, a hand sanitizer dispenser will be placed right at the counter so their hands are clean but their water will have a hint of lemon and alcohol. Fancy
  14. Enrique’s has “steak”. However, none of our BBQ restaurants have Brisket, like the BBQ restaurants at the other parks.
  15. They need to bring steak. I hear we have the only one without it.
  16. I'm happy as long as they have the Brussel sprouts.
  17. That it does.... Grain and Grille was sort of a step in the right direction, but it seems as if they won't be doing anything different/new to the menus.
  18. Last week
  19. 45 cents for a water cup, the water is free, but the container is not.
  20. Hey, I take offense to this! I’m in no way wealthy!
  21. Hang on there, cowboy, I'm not offering a "counter-argument." Those people are gonna get drunk and fight whether they're doing subway shots with mayonnaise floaters and Italian BMT garnish, or, slamming back pints of that weird blueberry ice cream beer. Not so much a Southern Ohio thing, more of a... human thing.
  22. So I bought 2 Cedar Point President's day tickets at a great price. From what I read the tickets expired on 6/30/24. Well I loaded and pulled up my Cedar Point app and found the tickets on there. However it says they are good thru 09/08/24 and I called Cedar Point to confirm and it is true. So if you got the tickets and want to hold off till later in the season you can.
  23. It’s a four and half to five hour drive, with minimal stops, covering close to 300 miles to get from Cedar Point to Michigan’s Adventure. I think it’s a bad idea to try to add it to a trip to Cedar Point. Instead add it to a trip to Michigan. Go visit Detroit, Holland, something, anything else that is closer. While it won’t be an amusement park or roller coaster, I feel there is plenty to do in Detroit, and while it is still 3 hours each way, I have done it as a day trip from Detroit I like Michigan’s Adventure, it’s a good looking park with decent rides, and typically has short lines. But it’s small and it’s out of the way. I went over Labor Day weekend last year, I think on Sunday. Almost all the coasters were short waits, mostly 5 minutes or less, with only 2 or 3 having longer waits. I have season long Fast Lane, and I mostly just used the regular lines, except for I think Mad Mouse, the Arrow Wild Mouse. Just don’t expect a lot of food options, or a lot of rides, it is a small park.
  24. It was done during my years there. Sometimes it was my decision. Other times it may have been requested by one of the divisions at the park, or the ride manufacturer. I wanted people to see rides testing. It generates interest, excitement and anticipation. That was not a reason I turned off a webcam. Others had different thoughts on that.
  25. Any advice for going up to Cedar Point. I am planning to go up with a few buddies and are going on a budget so we are thinking of staying at the motel 6. Overall, just hoping someone had some insight. I have never been before and am super excited.
