  1. I never sleep anymore. A few nights ago I was on here literally waiting for someone to post so I would have something to read.

  2. For someone like me who lives 4 hours away from Kings Island and only gets 1-2 visits per year, Fast Lane passes are worth it. We are not rich by any means, but in order for us to really get the most out of our day there, we invested in them. It was so great to be able to ride all we wanted and squeeze as much into one day as possible without standing in line for the majority of our day. Now, if we lived closer and could visit more often, we probably wouldn't fool with the passes. Not to mention we drive 4 hours there, stay in the park all day and then drive 4 hours back home. If I'm going to make that long trip, I want it to be worth it

  3. I got off work at 7:30 this morning (night shifter here) and had planned a short couple hour trip to the park. We made it to the gate at 8:50 for the ERT and got to hear them play the Star Spangled Banner right before they opened the gates, which I didn't know that they did that. The first stop was Diamondback and got in 4 rides on it, including one ride with Mr. 7000. I love that coaster! My nephew was with us so our next stop was Flying Ace Aerial Chase. It was my first ride on that coaster due to being right at the maximum height. I thought it was OK, I wondered if it was built by the same people that built Vortex due to the jerkiness of it. Our next stop was Surf Dog, which is my favorite ride in Planet Snoopy. Today was my first time ever getting stuck on a ride when Surf Dog didn't "center up" correctly at the end and the floor wouldn't raise. It took about 10 minutes to get maintenance out there to reset the ride. By that time the ERT was over so we went and rode The Beast twice. The best wooden coaster ever! (yes I'm looking at you voyage) We then took one ride on The Racer, which took longer than it should have due to only the red side running. Next was one ride on the WindSeeker, my first time on that ride and probably my last due to being bored. After that I won a prize for my nephew from the peach basket toss while he rode Shake Rattle and Roll. At that time we decided to leave and walked out the gates at 11:45. Side notes - Walking in the sign said Delirium and Shake Rattle and Roll would be down. Shake Rattle and Roll was working when we made it over that way but when we left the sign said that Delirium and Invertigo was down. I also did see the cranes for Delirium and saw 3 or 4 people working on it. Well that's about it... I'm going to bed!

  4. I've done some late-night postings. It's rare, but I've done some. I'd sleep more, if it weren't for those loud fireworks every night at 10:00!

  5. On June 19, I went to Carowinds. Yes, I realize I am over a month late, but I've been busy. Okay, here we go. I didn't really want to pay full admission and I didn't want to upgrade to a platinum pass because it will most likely be only Cedar Fair park this year (besides KI). I decided to try the Starlight Ticket and hope for the best. At 3:30 we stopped at McDonald's because the last thing I wanted to do was buy food in the park. We entered the park at exactly 4:00. First stop was Vorex. Why? I've never been on a stand-up roller coaster before! Ride Reviews Vortex- 8.5/10, Wait Time- 0 minutes. To be perfectly honest, the coaster wasn't as exciting as I expected. Plus it's not the most comfortable ride for a, um, man. I rode Vortex twice since I have never been on a stand-up coaster. Fun ride, but I guess I'd rather have a working Derlirium than a King Cobra. After this we headed to Intimidator. Of course, it broke down while we were in line (just my luck)! So we headed to Nighthawk. Nighthawk- 8/10, Wait Time- 15 minutes. For those of you who know of or have been to Carowinds, Nighthawk is the same thing as our Firehawk. The dual loading station doesn't help wait time for Firehawk. The same size line at Carowinds took about the same waiting time. Anyway, I thought it would be fun that the ride was over a lake, but it was actually pretty disgusting. The water was greenish and dirty. I think water geysers would be very cool for this ride, but what do I know. If I remember correctly, there was no helix at the end of the ride and the corkscrews were rougher (hence the 8/10 rating). As you can tell from the name Diamondhawk, I am a Firehawk freak! Back to the now open intimidator! Intimidator- 9.5/10, Wait time- 10 minutes. The problem with this ride is that I can compare it to Diamondback! It was a very fun ride, but it was not as fast as DB, there was less airtime than DB, and there was no splashdown. Not to mention the ride was not in the woods and part of it was almost in the parking lot. However, giving credit where credit is due, I liked the racing theme (even though I'm not a racing fan). Diamondback doesn't really have a theme. I don't know if this had anything to due with the break down before, but the ride-ops were telling us we had 20 seconds before the train left, with of without us! Yikes! What happened to Southern Hospitality? We rode this ride twice because it was still fun and a nice variation from DB which I ride around 50 times a year. Off to Planet Snoopy? Oh don't worry, we're just making a pitstop to the Woodstock Gliders! Woodstock Gliders- 10/10, Wait time- 5 minutes. In case you don't know, this ride is our Flying Eagles. This statement basically sums up my ride review- bring them back to KI! Top Gun, excuse me, Afterburn was next. Afterburn- 10/10, Wait time-0 minutes. Amazing ride! By far my favorite coaster at Carowinds. If you're ever at Carowinds, this ride is HIGHLY suggested by me. Blows Invertigo out of the water (sorry about that Invertigo). I just liked everything about the ride. Of course it may just be personal prevence, and everyone else here hates it, but oh well. I love the G-Forces you get, the batwing and loop. Rode this a total of 4 times. I could've keep riding but the rest of my group wanted to move on (losers). Southern Star- 5/10, Wait time- 5 minutes. Wait, I left Afterburn for this? For those of you who want Delirium of Viking Fury to go upside down, DON'T. It's actually painful hanging at the top for your thighs pressing against the restraint, and all the blood goes to your head. Not to mention unfriendly ride ops, but I'll get to that later. Thunder Road- 6/10, Wait time- 0 minutes. Basically a rougher version of The Racer IMO even worse than the blue racer side. Exactly the same layout even though I think Thunder Road kept it's last drop that The Racer lost. To make things worse, Only the South Carolina side was running. Boo Blasters- 7/10, Wait time- 5 minutes. I like our ride cars better. More room and a equal advantage for everybody. I also wasn't a fan of banging into the doors, and the que being outside. Carolina Cobra- 7.5/10, Wait time- 5 minutes. Non-inverted Invertigo. Nothing more, nothing less. I felt less G-Force on this ride than Invertigo, but that's just me. Ricochet- 8/10, Wait time- 0 minutes. I've always like wild mouse coasters for some reason. Maybe I like the way it feels like you'll fall off the side. I think KI should get one, but I know, capacity nightmare. Carolina Cyclone- 7/10, Wait time- 0 minutes. Rough and not as long or fun as Vortex (KI's Vortex). I know I sound very critical, but I guess KI spoiled me! Hurler- 3/10, Wait time- 0 minutes. Oh my this hurt. Not fun at all. I made the mistake of putting my hands up for the first drop, and ouch. Many will disagree, but I thought it was almost as bad as SOB is terms of roughness. The good news is Hurler is a lot shorter than SOB! We went to ride Vortex one last time (since we may never be on a stand-up coaster again). We had the train to ourselves, which was fun. Same review and rating as above. I then bought a Carowinds shirt since it was 8 and we left after a fun day! That's it for part 1. In part 2, I will compare KI to Carowinds and point out special things that I noticed. Thanks for reading!

  17. If you do NOT like long posts this is not the topic for you. It is intesting though. Just a heads up! Yes! I know that this is a late report, but I didnt even have a profile then. Okay, here we go... We decided to go to Cedar Point for forth of july (we live in north-eastern OH so it wasnt that long of a drive). We were going to go to the waterpark since it was really hot (110 f.). But with me being the amusment park fanatic in our family... I said that we should go to WildWater Kingdom. It is not crowded at ALL when I go to wwk, and with it being really hot plus it was forth of july. I thought CP's Soak City would be mobed. But of corse we went to CP's Soak City instead. So when we got there it was pretty nice (not crowded either!). First we put our stuff on a chair by the "water playground" my brother went on it for about 5 min. Then we all whent on Zoom Flume. It is a family raft ride. It was really fun. It is slightly diffrent than KI's Zoom Flume (previously snowy river?). This ones "sides" that the raft washes up on... where really steap I mean like the raft was at a 95 degree angle. Anyway.. afer the ride was over I rolled off the raft like backwords . And I knew the water was shallow but the life gaurd moved it when I fell off. When I fell off, my head hit the concreate really hard. So hard I herd a ding. No joke. I thought that was only on the cartoons! I didnt even know that could happen! Anyways after was walked up a coulple feet it really started to hurt. I am a very tough person. But this hurt. But I tried to suck it up really hard. My mom was walking behind me and she said my name real loud. I said "what"? She said "your head is bleeding"! I told her what happen then she started to get woried. Because you cant really put a bandage on your head like a normal cut. She called over her boyfreind and he looked woried. After a min. or two, we figured out that it was just my shoulder got scraped (but I still hit my head). So we walked to their dragster h20. I thought It would be alot bigger than Rendezvous Run at KI because In their grafic picture online looks so much bigger. And this one had 2 more lanes. But this one was little. Real small. It was about a 5 min. wait. When we got up there you could see some light in some of the lane/tubes, and others it was pitch black dark. Of coarse I picked the lane that you could see the most in. My moms bfreind was in the lane to the right of me. His was pich black dark and he has chlosterfobic. He was kind of nervous. He said "Wow. This is dark. I said "mine isnt!". He peered into my lane/tube. He looked away. Then he said "Mabey we should change lanes." I was so surprised. He is always the guy who is always being tough on me. Of coarse I took advanage of this moment (ha). I said (in a baby-ish voice) " "Aww, are you scared? You'll survive! Its just one loop. You want die!" I laughed then the light turned green and I gave him a wink and jumped into the tube. (I am not a mean kind of person but he is hard on me) And MAN it was fast! When we got to the bottom I said "Did you survive?" he just smiled. Then we headed to the tube slides. Thoses were fun. We went to the beach, then came back. We herd a noise like Mr.Roboto song. We couldnt here it all the way though. as we got closer to the park we noticed it was a warning from the national wethar service. It said that they had found a severe wethar storm to come. Most of the people were leaving. We went on thre lazy river. About halfway through the life guards where shooing us out because there was starting to be lightning. We got our stuff and walked out to the parking lot. Right when we got in my moms boyfreinds car. We left the SC parking lot. We headed down the road and stoped at taco bell. We went through the drive thru and we ate in the parking lot to figure out a plan. We did not want to miss out on the fireworks. The clouds were still grey. It was about 7:45 and we headed back to CP. (It is dark outside) We got a great parking spot we headed in. You could here the raptor running to dry off. None of the rides had riders on them exept the merry-go-roung. And since it was right there, in the front we did it. After that we headed over to the racing horses, those we fun too. After that we did the old cars. I havent riden them since I was 7. I knew you drove them, but I didnt relize they were real. So I was surpsised about that. After that we went to the bumper cars and that was the only ride of the night that we had o wait on. Not surprised thhough. On the ride my car I could only make it go backwards (weird). Then we went on the matterhorn. After that I wanted yto go o n the ferris wheel, but my brother wanted to go on "the fancy old cars". So My mom was going to go with my younger brother to the cars and my moms boyfrind was taking me to the ferris wheel. About half way there they said they wanted to come with us instead. The fireworks were supposed to start at 10:00. But were pushed back to 11:30. So it was about 11:25. We went around twice. Then stopped at 9 o'clock. We were all excited because we thought if we were lucky enough we could see the fireworks at the top. About a minuet later we moved as we approched 12 o'clock the fireworks started. At the top we kept going but we were SO close to them! They were shooting them off right behind Disastor transport on the shore. Then we stoped at 3 o'clock Disator transport was in the way so we could only see the top of them. 1 min later we circled around and guess what... we stoped dead center at the top. The fireworks were 20 min. long. A handicaped guy was getting on while we were sitting on the top. So we got to stay there for the next 10 min. By the end of the show we got off and saw the grand finale about 900 ft. away. SO cool! All in all, a awesome day. Very sorry about the long post but it was a good one!

  18. Totally hookied today and went to the park. 45 minute wait was the most for a ride. WindSeeker, and Drop Zone are working, I didn't get over to Action Zone to see about Delirium, but I could easily see Invertigo was. The changes to The Racer are great, the divider being gone really opens up the place and gets people out of the way faster. I rode The Beast without having to claw onto anything to keep from being rattled. The ride was magnificent. The new track made the ride so much better, I could really enjoy it. All of the ride attendants- well, all of the workers- were amazing with their attitudes. They all had great smiles, greeted us, and looked like they really enjoyed being there. It really perked up the whole park. I love the actual ride of FOF, but the warehouse is starting to look peaked and tired. "I've opened the hangar up the public!" "Oh, no!" The camera switches to- empty queues and crickets. There was a small problem, on International Street. They had no coffee started at 6pm at the Funnel Cake shop (We said we'd just run across to Starbucks), and the making of funnel cakes were slowed down to a crawl, though I don't know why. The workers were working, so I don't know if they had run out of batter, or what, but they were trying to remedy the situation. The worst part of waiting for the cake were the patrons. What horrible people. Being snide and rude and demanding things for free, which, from my experience, does not make oil heat up faster, or pour batter faster. After cake, we went to Starbucks across the way, to get coffee. Again, it was not the workers holding up the line, but five cast members of the show that evidently features "Rock the Boat", as two of the five members were singing and dancing in the line, taking their time ordering coffee and chatting with the Starbuck's workers. As one of the many persons behind them, they didn't represent the park well to me, as it was obvious they were park employees by their performances and demeanor. The funnel cake was good enough even cold, to make up for it. It took thirty minutes for cake, thirty minutes for coffee. The personal high light to me, however, was AE. We boarded AE for a quick ride before leaving, and in the cave, everyone was spontaneously doing the tiki dance! I have minions.

Guest & others accused HW FB response to be unprofessional.

  33. Thanks for sharing the details of your story - I find it possible that they are continuing to experiment with Fast Lane and how to make it work best (as they did with the SRL on Diamondback on '09 and '10) One thing that strikes me as odd is that you were told to go to the back of the line. Hadn't you just come through the line - why didn't the attendant just direct you to the blue side versus red? My experience this year is that there has been one line for GP and the new line for Fast Lane, but these meet at the entrance to the station where either line could go to either side. Is it possible you accidentally entered the Fast Lane line?

  42. ^ I believe comparing FL cost to healthcare cost is the definition of apples & oranges. The FL issue is one everyone faces everyday. Who can afford what. It's not geared to the rich, and those who use it are not necessarily rich. Some will justify it, others will turn a blind eye to it, and some will despise it. When it comes to money, there will be hurt feelings (often unintentional), as well as jealousy. My wife & I work full time, have 2 kids peeking into the teenage years, and work OT to live the lifestyle we want. We do not get FL as we have had season passes to both CP & KI for 13 years now- and we live 6 hours from KI. Even though it is a great distance, it is still not worth it for us as we have been on every ride countless times. Instead of resenting those using FL, I'm happy for them. They are using their money for what they believe is worth it. I am also happy that I have the time to spare to wait longer in line. I have also not noticed a drastic increase in wait time since FL has been implemented. Now when SFWoA was around, my family purchased the FP because: we were there for 1 day, it only cost $10, and we did not make a visit since SF took over. It made sense to do it. Like Gordon mentioned: it's new to KI. It tastes bad now, in time most will accept it & shrug their shoulders because- a bad day at the park is still better than a good day at work.
