  1. I was just at Coney Island's site to check out their hours of operation this summer and found this: "Check back soon for the 2103 operating calendar." I like to plan ahead, but......

  2. I had a dream a few nights ago that I was getting ready to get on DB for ERT and the seats in front were facing forward, the middle of the train's seats were facing each other and away from each other every other row and the back of the train's seats were all facing backwards. My kid was already in line for the very last row,and I kept thinking this is going to be crazy and I hope this is safe!

  3. What are the chances we will see more theming hit the park in 2013? Little things like the LED's on Backlot, music on rides, and more lights would do wonders on a couple rides.

  6. The one thing certain in business is that unpredictable things can and do happen. Barring that, Cedar Fair sees Kings Island as one of its most important assets.

  10. Well, you start of by paying the $25 registration fee, and then you have your fundraising page. The money you collect goes to Give Kids The World, which provides kids with life-threatening illnesses vacations with their families. You can ask your friends and family to help donate to your page. Once you have raised at least $75, you are able to go. The riding schudele is on the CFK website, but basically you can ride for the amount of time it lasts without getting off, and it's a lot of fun. We're also provided with lunch, a beast tour, and prizes for the top 3 fundraisers. It's a really fun event for a great cause.

  14. The re-ride policy at Dollywood provides a perfect opportunity for someone to make up reasons for the policy. I've heard several on my crew tell guests they had to go around because we have a tin roof. The Blazing Fury version is cracks in the ceiling. Flyer, who HATES enforcing this policy!

  18. That would be nice for people that live in the middle of the two parks, but Kings Island draws customers from parts of the country that Cedar Point does not, and vice versa. I know that in my home, which is an hour north of Kings Island and three hours south of Cedar Point, the mentality is why travel three hours when you can do basically the same thing an hour away? Even though this isn't entirely true, I am sure that my family is not the only one who thinks like that. Personally, I feel that Cedar Point and Kings Island are two entirely different parks, and should each operate individually, rather than specializing on family at one location, and thrills at the other. If the parks were closer, then maybe that would be acceptable, but there are people Sandusky and Mason looking for both thrills and family-friendliness.

  20. I love how there's so many people in this thread who have come here to remind us how much they dislike a certain member's posts. Yet, they only post infrequently and if they do it's to: 1) Perpetuate their own inside jokes. or 2) Complain about the site. Hey, if you guys don't like the topic, don't post. Don't like a member's post? Say why respectively in regards to the topic or just ignore it. There's no need for constant "cryptic," overly sarcastic dead pan sarcasm coming from certain fans of The Beast (did you get the joke, guys?). Actually, if you think about his posts, they make a lot of sense. What has Beastfan26 contributed to KIC or any thread lately? Nice of you to stop by after all these years. Do you just come back around for attention? Discuss the topics at hand and if you're only here to bash other members or post your "woe is me, KIC sucks now" sarcasm, then go away and leave the site for others to enjoy.

  27. I had a dream about Riding SoB one last time and every time the train went over the track you would here extreme creaking and if you looked at it it was swaying alot. I rode but this time the ending was much different after the rose bowl it turned into of how i would recreate it on RCT2. And even though they didnt have the loop it was still using the old trains.I screamed as loud as i could and then after the ride i realised it look brand new with the yellow wood so i was riding it in 2000! They where about to demolish it then i woke up. Weirdest.Dream.Ever KI Dreams this off season:8

  28. Cedar Fair would be stupid if they let go of Kings Island. I would get rid of the other parks(Besides CP) before Kings Island, because we are in direct competition with Cedar Point.

  29. They need to cut the amount of staff that works for Kasich. He's got assistants to the assistants of the assistants. My sister works for the state and has to deal with the 3rd assistant. Or they need to cut the amount of payroll they spend on Ohio Congress who works at most 14 days out of the month.

  31. The flaw with that theory is as follows. Business people are business people to do one thing... and one thing only.... make money. IF said sales tax is lowered on said park merchandise and food, dont think for a Brooklyn second that CF, the Cincinnati Reds, Joe's Bowling Alley, etc etc WON'T add that lower price right back onto the unit price on the back end to put that extra few cents in their pockets. In doing this, they can say "Look at how GREAT we are!! We didnt pass the higher taxes onto you, the consumer, because our prices didnt go up". Well, yes they did, you as a business owner simply added a bit more to your personal pocketbook. One thing to consider, corporations don't "pay" taxes, their customers do. Coke pays taxes every year based upon their revenue, land holdings, etc... Those taxes are factored into what they charge us the consumers for a bottle of Coke. Procter & Gamble pay taxes every year based upon all the 1,000s of things they sell. Those taxes are factored into what they charge for Tide and everything else. GM pays taxes on cars, those taxes are factored into what they charge the dealer to purchase their car (the dealer then in turn factors into his price what he charges us for his taxes) Its obviously not quite that simple, but keep in mind that the Reds, Cedar Fair, Joe's Bowling alley, etc... are already paying taxes to the state of ohio each year. Those taxes are factored into what they charge for admission, a game of bowling, shoe rentals,etc.... You may not see a "tax" line item on your bill every time you buy a Reds ticket, but make no mistake, there are taxes figured into what you're paying for a pair of moon deck seats on a saturday afternoon. In a smilar vain, many like to say that you get "free pop" everytime you go to holiday world. You may not be charged for soda during the day, but that cost of all the soda has been factored into your admission ticket and you are indeed paying for that privledge no matter if you decide to take advantage of it or not.

  37. Yes, it is for FUN, but those of us who have been here for a very long time can say it has at least SIX other purposes, from education to fellowship to collaboration to commiseration and on and on. At times, we have dealt with the joys of new life, with the sadness of deaths of family members, friends and even members. Like much of life, to a very large extent, this place is what we make it. Civility is important, yes. That being said, each of us brings a different tone, level of interest, level of information, willingness and/or ability to share information, etc. to this here place. Some who have the most information or insight to share may APPEAR to be the least gracious when in fact that is very seldom the case. Also, many here have known each other for a good many years. Others have not even met. What may appear to be rude may be gentle ribbing. It's paramount we be amused, entertained and informed. It's more important that we not be misinformed on matters of great importance. Stick around a while and the carousel of life will take many turns, some grand and good, others more difficult to accept. If we can help with that, this place has served its porpoise.

  39. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Diamondback is currently experiencing technical difficulties. We are unsure of when it will return to operation. You do not have to get out of line but if you do decide to get out of line, you forfeit your spot in line. Thank You and Sorry for the inconvenience." This is not ridiculous, but I've heard many GP and sometimes Enthusiast complain when this happens. "I planned my whole day for this park and all I had left was to ride Diamondback, my entire trip is ruined."

  41. Last night I had another dream that it was Opening Day. It was ERT; I looked at my watch and it said 9:17 a.m. I was so focused on being the first, if not, one of the first riders on Vortex when it opened. There were ropes blocking off the other sections of the park at first, but later on they just disappeared and it was magically 10:00 (or close to there). I saw that WindSeeker was operating as normal, and I wanted to ride it, but I was already headed to Vortex first. When I got to Vortex, it Looked. So. Different!! . I was watching the ride test, and I suddenly see this red and white train ascend the lift hil. The chain sounded so much more quieter and less Arrow-like. Shake, Rattle & Roll and the Juke Box Diner didn't exist. The path I had been walking and Vortex's queue were going straight through where SR&R and the JBD are in real life. Vortex's station building was in this "L" shape. I began walking through the queue and on the other side of the station building I saw transfer tracks bearing FIVE (yes, five) other trains that looked just like the ride's original trains! I noticed that two of the five trains were a more dull version of the normal blue and orange color scheme, but the other three were more vibrant. I immediately knew that the three vibrantly colored ones were the original Vortex trains! But why weren't they on the main track circuit like they were always destined to be? This was turning out to be a really weird dream. Before the dream ended, I was reminded of another Vortex-related dream that I had last spring. Once I had thought the word "dream," I woke up in bed. I then immediately thought, "THANK GOODNESS that this was all just a dream! I never want Vortex to change like that! Never ever ever!" The dream looked so lifelike, but The Vortex part of it was totally unrealistic. Now I can't wait to go to the park on Opening Day and see Vortex as what it's always been for the past 26 years! Vortex Dreams I've had During This Offseason: 7

  43. My girlfriend took me to Holiday World for my first time last May for my birthday. I said hello to Pat as we walked in and she was very friendly. Later in the day, my girlfriend and I were getting our free drinks when Pat came up to us and just struck up conversation like we were old friends of hers. She asked us how long we had been together and if we had ever visited before. My favorite part of our conversation was when she asked where we were from. When I told her Lima was about five hours away she actually got emotional. She thanked us for traveling such a far distance to visit their "little family park," and was thankful for fans of the park like us. You could tell how proud Pat was of their park. What a great person. I'm sad she has to go through this.

  47. I suspect that you'll see signage go first. Theming will probably be secondary and happen in the off season. That is one reason why I suspect, and will much disappointment, that Winterfest will not be back this year. We actually should start a thread about the changes that are seen in the parks. ie- This has been changed/removed/replaced.

  48. just a thought, but outside of dropping the "Paramount Parks" logos, I suspect that the theming of rides like IJST, TR:TR, ect.... may have one park per year re-theming because of the cost that may be involved in doing them all at once. In some instances there is more involved than removing a sign a putting a new one up.

  49. It doesn't have much of a conclusion. My guess is that Cedar Fair will do away with the Paramount themes at Paramount Parks. That's what they did with the former Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. We'll see. Happy Memorial Day! Italian Chef
