  1. Walt over at Pointbuzz.com is reporting that Gatekeeper had its first successful test run this afternoon. When it comes to things regarding Cedar Point Walt is a pretty safe bet.

  2. If that valley is nearly 100ft deep, then a giga coaster with a 400ft drop would be feasible. Not saying that thats probable by any means, just saying its possible, and would be pretty outstanding in my opinion. Not to try to sound like one of those crazy giga coaster enthusiasts or anything either.

  3. Wouldn't be the first station at the park to be reused.

  5. Kudos to these guys for the hard work they do. Glad to see they're getting some recognition. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20130402/NEWS01/304030056/Kings-Island-crews-always-testing-fixing

  7. Rides Maintenance is definitely one of the unsung departments of the park. They do a lot of hard work that mainly goes underappreciated by the public. Caption under one of the photos: This is actually the park's 42nd season (41st anniversary).

  8. So much appreciation for what those guys do to keep the rides running every season. I'll never get tire of hearing about the behind the scenes workings.

  9. CP webcams always go down coincidentally on the first day of ride testing.

  11. Good thing that doesn't look tacky. Also, is it me or does that pic of the station sum up the entire SOB project from planning to demolition?

  12. Hi guys! As some of you may know, I am going to Northern Kentucky University to major in Media Informatics, with a focus on web design. After taking many, many general education credit hours, i finally started taking classes for my major. Right now we are beginning to work on our final website projects for my Media Web Coding class. My site is called "The Coaster Station". It is a website that features some of my favorite roller coasters. Keep in mind this is a work in progress. Most links don't work right now on the page. It's just the home page, and the contact page. I just wanted you guys to check it out and give me your opinions! Thanks! http://studenthome.nku.edu/~joycek2/inf186/final/index.html

  13. I like the top one better, as it looks simpler/less busy. The outline of the US doesn't really make sense to me, as we're (mostly) all from one relatively small region (OH/IN/KY), plus I like the appearance of negative space better than the black.

  14. ^^ Of the two, I like the first one best. The map makes it look somewhat busy. I don't really have an opinion over "clean" vs. "stylized" - it could look good either way. By the way, perhaps the tagline font could be changed? From a distance, that could look like "Hings Islano".

  15. Exactly! Wow...I'm feelin a bit better, minus being able to have a good thought. Back to the original post, I am thankful for this team working hard while we wait....I know it's a pain for us to wait, but they make sure we're safe!

  21. I always think of them when I start to get scared on a ride. I wouldn't be on the ride if they found anything wrong.

  22. ^ I feel like this station could still be a station someday. It just doesn't seem like it's meant for whatever the park says they're using it for. Maybe they'll use it for a new roller coaster in 2014.

  24. Well said Zombie. Watching this thread for the past 6 pages gives the impression that alot of people here havnt been outside of Ohio. Why is CF doing this? Because they're watching the other parks make money off of it. Relax..everyones going to get to ride. As far as Kings Island not being a vacation destination as stated earlier, my family will be visiting from FL in July. Guess we're the only tourists.

  26. My pick would be Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado. Eagle's good, but I still prefer Tornado. Also, a trip to Dollywood is not complete without a ride on the Fury.

  27. Sorry for bringing back a thread that was almost dead....but this I think is worth it Pictured below is the Son of Beast station as of Today. Note the open ends (no Wolf Pack). My friend John C. took this picture while on rounds at the park. P.S. this is my 1,000th post!

  29. More than you might think. Making vector art look good at a very small size can be tricky.
