  1. I find it interesting that they list certain days as, "check website (www.kentuckykingdom.com) for operating days and hours." 2 Reasons: 1) I think it's just extremely bizarre to list it that way because I'm already on the website looking at the hours and to be told to check the website and be given the address to the website that I'm currently on is just absurd to me. 2) The fact that the last 2 weekends are listed as that just screams to me: "We'll see how things go this summer before committing to being open those weekends." I may be reading too much into it, but I find it very foreboding and wouldn't be surprised to see those days disappear off the calendar without notice.

  2. It always impresses me how quickly rides, particularly coasters, go up. This went up a lot faster than I expected, especially for it being so tall and long. Then again, Carowinds doesn't have to put up with the type of weather the more northern parks like Cedar Point or Kings Island have to deal with.

  4. The park has added an operating schedule to their website. http://www.kentuckykingdom.com/park-info/calendar/ What I find intriguing is that on their "opening day", the park is closed for a private event. Which is fine. But unless there's some legal reason why they would need to disclose that, I'm not sure I get why they'd even put that on the calendar at all... It just invites comments on social networking sites complaining about the park being closed, just like what happens to Kings Island every year when they close for a day during one of the first weekends of the year. It seems to me that the better approach would be to just pretend nothing is happening at all that day. On a lighter note, we're all 87 days away from being struck with Terror to the third power after experiencing The Runs! I'll be interested in seeing how many times I feel inclined to go to KK this year considering that I'll be able to ride a set of Larson Scooters without making the two hour drive...

  6. My music is definitly not todays music, I am mainly 60s Oldies, Beach Boys are my favorite for that decade. Though it might be way before my time, I enjoy them way better than the music I listen to on the radio. I am also a fan of KISS, which is my favorite band from the 70s, also Grand Funk Railroad. I was born in the 90s, and I have to agree that music back then was better than music now, well at least in my opinion.

  7. I've always been against the grain with music..... When I was younger it was straight forward brutal metal. I dunno, guess I've broadened my horizons a bit, Gonna see Bob Segar and J. Giles Band Thursday. I listened to alot of them kinda bands(Eagles, Marshall Tucker, Linda Ronstadt, John Mellencamp, ect.) when I was younger, and usually that's what my car radio is set to. Still listen to metal if I get my CD player to work. I can not stand rap music. Not much of a country fan, either. Although when the family is with me, that's all i seem to listen to.

(Live Still-Image captured from Cedar Point Live Video Cam 1) ......As we say our goodbyes to the Good Time Theater, the final wall will soon come down. Soon........... something new will rise. I know what you're thinking.....A coaster type that begins with Div..... How about for now we stick with Diversion...... Stay tuned folks..... The Good Times aren't over.....

  10. I really hope this is as unobtrusive as possibly to the rest of the World Showcase experience. When I'm in World Showcase, I want to experience the world, not some movie I've seen and heard the songs to 10 bashillion times. There's so many places in Disney World where movie themed attractions are 120% appropriate. Epcot's World Showcase really doesn't seem like an ideal spot to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. As long as I have been on here I have seen many posts talk about Jeff Siebert and how he was a creative genius when it came to marketing and PR. I wasn't really around here when he worked for Kings Island (1999-2005, according to his LinkedIn profile) so can anyone tell me what kind of things he did to be regarded as one of the best in the industry? I know he is now with Six Flags and was briefly with Schlitterbahn. Has he done anything recently that resembles the kind of stuff he did at Kings Island? I have three days off and I'm already bored; this is the result.

  21. What is truly amazing is that Kentucky Kingdom ceases weekly operation after the first full week of August and the cost of opening for a measly 5 hours a day during the majority of the fair is digging a big hole to over come with discounted Kroger Admission tickets. My head hurts.

  22. I feel as though the other characters should indeed be elsewhere in World Showcase. Many of Disney's films utilize certain countries as their settings and the fact that these same countries are represented at Epcot just begs for the characters to be better featured. Adding on to your list, Ratatouille in France, Pinocchio in Italy, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Aristocats in France, and Sword in the Stone in UK. Although there are definitely more we still haven't covered.

  23. Thanks. Didnt know the 3 Caballeros was a movie. Now that makes sense. So now every character I mentioned has a link back to a movie with its corresponding country/location. Not sure how you do a Frozen 2. They pretty much wrapped up all of the plot points. Unless you look at the kids of one of the main characters (like LIttle Mermaid 2...) Personally, I would much rather have a Big Hero 6: 2 or Wreck it Ralph 2 as their appears to be more a build world with those 2 movies (similar to Toy Story).

  24. Donald is in Mexico because of the 3 Caballeros attraction/movie. This is what happens when a country no longer wants to support its World Showcase Representation and get on board with one of the biggest Disney movies of all time. I hear the Disney cruises to Norway have sold tremendously well and yes they are advertised as a Frozen cruise. Also I would expect the new meet n greet to include the Olaf character that has been included in parades and such. Not to mention he has done some media previews to rave reviews. He will draw larger lines than the sisters. Also with Frozen 2 in the works this franchise is not going anywhere anytime soon. This gives Disney purists something besides cinnamon rolls to get upset about.

  25. Dont forget that the sister station of 700 WLW (1530) is the home of the U of L radio network. Not a stretch to buy a station wide commercial, or it may have been part of the deal that X number of U of L commercials are broadcast over sister stations...

  26. Got myself and my family booked! Dinner reservations already made! Just waiting for the FP+ window to open up. and honestly, if you are looking at a 3-5 day ticket you are looking at about a 30$ increase for the full 5 days.... I personally dont think its too expensive. Plus with all of the new stuff coming in, they have to raise capital one way or the other...

  27. I dont disagree, but to point to Frozen and say "hey wait" but ignore Belle in France, Alice in the UK, Donald in Mexico, Mary Poppins in the UK, Mulan in China, Aurora in the UK, Snow White in Germany, Winnie the Pooh in the UK, Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco.... To me putting Elsa and Ana in Norway is not a stretch. You have the characters everywhere else in that showcase..... I know each character I mentioned has some version of their story originating in the location in which they are having a meet and greet (well, maybe not Donald Duck, but he is wearing a big hat), but Frozen has its story's roots in the Nordish traditions. I still dont get the hate on Frozen. If you dont like it cool, but I dont get why people have to consistently talk about why its a bad movie. Sort of like why people feel having to bad talk Intamin or or or...

  28. I would say my music genre is probably Alternative Rock, but there has been a time in my past that I have been a big fan of Gangster Rap, Country, Classical, and Death Metal, so you could say my tastes in music have been quite different through the years. But I think Alternative Rock has probably been my favorite for the longest of those genres.

  30. Security guards cannot monitor every square inch of property, no matter how many you have or how good your camera system is. Also, with it being the off-season, I would imagine they currently have reduced staffing. The good news here is these two idiots were caught and the infant is now in a much better situation than he was. Hopefully this woman will get the help she needs, whether it be rehab or time in a mental hospital.

  31. It DID. After all, these "gentle people" WERE apprehended. It was "guards" (security) that found the unattended vehicle, the infant and took the alleged miscreants into custody. It is always good to read the linked article(s) before commenting. I'm always amazed, here and in life, how many don't.

  32. Walt Disney World Resort has launched a new promo campaign called #BestDayEver inviting guests to upload social media photos and videos using the hashtag #WDWBDE. Original programming and guest submissions will appear on www.youtube.com/WDWBestDayEver and www.instagram.com/WDWBestDayEver. I guess someone had to go on providing Best Days Ever while Cedar Fair parks are closed for the winter! #KIBestDayEver It's a small world, after all.

  34. At least on their Facebook page, they indeed state that opening day is April 25th. I think this business about their operating schedule is a testament to how much they're relying on social media. https://www.facebook.com/kentuckykingdom/photos/a.599973010036875.1073741827.150584424975738/906938196007020/?type=1&theater

  35. I keep hearing about Frozen 2, but there really hasn't been an official release from the studio confirming this. There has been confirmation of a Frozen animated Short film called "Frozen Fever" that's showing before the new live-action Cinderella movie that Disney is putting out this year. There have also been some very vague comments by Idina Menzel about voicing Elsa in upcoming projects, however, this was right around the announcement of the "Frozen Fever" short. Are we really getting a Frozen 2? Who knows. I'll wait until I hear some official info from the studio itself, until then, it's still just speculation. I'm with shark6495 though, give me Wreck-it Ralph 2 or Big Hero 6: 2 any day!

  36. I listen to pretty much everything. For instance, last night I was watching this old movie I got from when I was little and there was some great Mannheim Steamroller instrumental pieces that I looked up on iTunes immediately after seeing the movie (for those interested, the movie was called "Secrets at the Zoo", a 1991 tour of the Cincinnati Zoo with 2 newscasters and Thane Maynard). On the way to work this morning, I was rockin' to some '90s pop and rock tunes from a Now CD. During my shifts, I listened to some For King and Country, AA Arrowhead (a band one of my friends was in at one time), Linkin Park (Meteora), Counting Crows, more 90's pop/rock and even some remixed TobyMac songs! So, as you can see, my music tastes vary and I'll pretty much listen to anything except most country. My favorite band is Thousand Foot Krutch and I was so excited when they came to SpiritSong this past summer as I was working the concert that day. I've met them once and have seen them in concert 4 times (twice at Kings Island and twice at The Underground).

  38. I have phases of music I go through. I'll be stuck on one group or genre for a while and switch to another. Its a very random thing. My preferred genres are jazz of any type, classical of about any era (using classical to describe orchestral music is a very broad term), movie scores, classic rock, some alternative rock (I don't like it too hard, the likes of Alice in Chains and Metallica is as hard as I go), some R&B, a bit of Motown, good covers of songs, and some concert band literature. I also love to transpose music so I can play it on my saxophone. I'd be hard pressed to pick a specific group, composer, or artist as my favorite, but my favorite piece of music of all time is Spencer Davis Group's Gimme Some Lovin' (the original version, though, I also like the Blues Brothers' cover).

  40. The majority of the people in that area live in Kentucky. According to 2010 census numbers, of the approximately 1.3 million people living in the Louisville metro area at the time, 741,000 of those were in Jefferson County, KY alone. From what I understand, they barely advertised outside of their home market last year, even though KI was opening Banshee. Now they've got an even closer competitor opening a shiny new B&M. They also have to work hard to clean up the park's reputation. They don't seem to care to address the issues with attracting a rougher crowd, and last year there were numerous PR disasters, plus the stupid decision to add a drop ride.

  41. The plans include a big revamp of Askerhaus (making it bigger, potential Frozen character dining), elimination of some of the Norwegian shops and the addition of the building mentioned above. There is more space than you think between the countries, esp. if you consider eliminating some trees to get to the backstage areas. The EPCOT employee parking extends from Test Track over and past the Mexico pavilion, so Disney has the space to backfill the Norway expansion. The Frozen $ machine keeps on churning. I can only imagine the scene when I'm there in a couple of months. Last May, I noticed that Disney simply couldn't keep up with demand when I was there. The daily opening crowd at MK JUST for Anna and Elsa was unbelievable. Waits are still 2+ hours w/o a FP+ on 'slow' days. My booking window opens in a week and I fully intend to get into the site at 12:00 AM and book a FP for it. While not an overwhelming fan of the new system (cough cough allow FP+ to be spread out amongst parks daily), I like it enough to take full advantage of it so my kids can do a lot of the things they want with little to no wait .

  43. Watching videos on YouTube made me want to ride Wild One. Sadly the reputation of the park it is in, and a bit of fatigue from a whirlwind tour of 1,400+ miles and 3 parks in 4 days, made me pass. It really does look fantastic though.
