  1. ^ How so? The kids jumped a fence. is the park supposed to dismantle the slides in the off season? Maybe I missed something but I don't see it.

  2. ^ They certainly deserve any reputation they've earned from safety violations; it's not a park I plan to visit. This is obviously a very tragic situation, but the negligence would seem to be solely with the teens if the initial police report is correct. See also the fatal incident at Raptor last year; fences & locked gates aren't there to make it impossible for a determined person to break in.

  3. I agree AE is fine as it is. A brand new RMC elsewhere in the park would be great though.

  4. ^^^ Welcome to KICentral, by the way! That's known as the 11th Commandment around here.

  5. You forgot one of the founding principle rules of KICentral, though shall not mess with Adventure Express. I have never ridden an RMC, but I have trouble envisioning what an RMC conversion could do for AE's existing hybrid track (if one considers it a hybrid to begin with and not just a steel coaster that happens to sit on a wooden frame. AE is not rough in the classic wooden coaster sense. It has strong laterals; I would think an RMC wouldn't change that much at all. At that point, you are just spending money to say you are getting an RMC without taking advantage of all that RMC can give you. If/When KI gets an RMC, it should be a new ride from the ground up. Adventure Express works perfect as a solid family coaster that is the first step beyond FAAC for many kids.

  6. I'll be honest. I feel as if negligence on the part of the park is somehow involved. Mount Olympus has now made headlines three times in the last three years because of serious safety issues in their park. Having been there, I'm truly flabbergasted that it's ONLY been three. Of the 40+ amusement parks I've visited, they are the sketchiest by a MILE. I've ridden a coaster from the 1930s at a park that's been fighting bankruptcy for the better part of a decade (specifically, Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake), and that felt INFINITELY safer and exponentially better maintained than any of the ones at Mount Olympus. I am a lover of all things Wisconsin. In fact, I'm wearing a Brewers shirt as I type this and have the Green Bay Packers subreddit open in another tab. But with the exception of Bay Beach (which I literally walked into, rode Zippin Pippin, and left), no amusement park in Wisconsin has ever left me feeling at all good about my visit. I feel really bad for the family. I do not feel bad for the park. It may be unfair to assume they are liable with no details of the incident, but their reputation precedes them and as far as I'm concerned, Mount Olympus is guilty until proven innocent any time something bad happens at their park.

  7. I would highly recommend a desktop instead. Yeah, you lose portability, but a laptop with enough power to play a current-gen game in any remotely enjoyable way is going to be very expensive, very loud, and in all likelihood run very hot. I would instead recommend building/buying a gaming desktop and then getting a low-end cheap laptop to use Steam in-home streaming if you want to be able to play from anywhere in your home. I think they are just giving examples of cards that come in a 4GB variety. The game definitely does not need a 980, as I can run it at 1080p ultrawide at a consistent 60 Hz with no frame drops at all on my 960.

  8. It is an acronym for Tomb Raider: The Ride, which was later changed to The Crypt. It is teh big tan box back by beast that the cave entrance in Rivertown would lead into. I also have to say I agree with medford. Not saying AE couldn't be converted into an RMC but I think it would be a waste. AE is still doing fine as is, plus it has a very low profile and very compact so would be very limiting for RMC to redo it. I think it would be both easier for them and better for KI/general public if RMC build a brand new coaster from scratch elsewhere in the park that they could make taller and able to do more with.

  9. ^ The recommended spec is interesting because a GTX980 and a R9 380 are not in the same league. Last fall a 980 was nearly $500 but a 4GB 380 was $220.

  10. that building is the old SOB station, its now a regular haunt during the falls. There is a ton of space around KI that things could be built on, much of in areas that would require a decent amount of site work, some of it an areas that are not quite as obvious to the casual eye. I can't recall anyone stating that they thought KI would build something on the scale of a Mister T where that thing is going; it just wasn't obvious how much space they had there. You also have to take into account that both buildings and rides eventually meet the end of their servicability, so things that seem pretty standard now, are moved or town down for capital improvements. You could fit a good sized coaster in and around the big brown box that once housed TRTR, even use the building for part of the ride similar to what CW did with their mountain. How much usefulness does Timberwolf still have? There is the rest of the land back behind Banshee, there is a decent sized area in and around Tower Gardens that could house some flats or a small wild mouse type coaster. There is the Dinosaurs Alive plot of land, the old action theater, etc... All kinds of areas that could be used from anything ranging from a small flat or two up to a huge Giga or expansive RMC. The last thing KI is worried about is space; they have far bigger things to worry about like keeping Vortex from sinking By they way, AE is "only" a kiddie ride to someone who thinks that a coaster has to be the tallest or have the most inversions to be fun. Its a vastly different experience than The Racers, The Beast, Diamondback, etc... Sure it is very accommodating to families and younger, less experienced riders, but that in no means you can't have fun on it. But what the heck, I have fun on The Beastie, just wish I could get my daughter to ride the thing the way her older brother did when he was 3/4.

  11. For reference, here's the rules link: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/4128-terms-of-service/ It basically boils down to respecting each other, citing your source if you use someone else's content (especially photos/video), and being careful to not post false information. Hope you enjoy your time here!

  12. You're going to need a pretty beefy laptop for Planet Coaster... https://www.reddit.com/r/PlanetCoaster/comments/52v6yu/minimum_and_recommended_system_requirements_for/ Minimum: Intel i5-2300 / AMD FX-4300 processor, 8GB of RAM, 2GB graphics card (nVidia GTX560 / AMD Radeon 7850) Recommended: Intel i7-4770 / AMD FX-8350, 16GB of RAM, 4GB graphics card (nVidia GTX980 / AMD R9 380) It's definitely possible to play it on a laptop, but make sure you're aware of the requirements/recommendations before buying one so you're not disappointed.

  13. One thing that you have to look at is that the bents are constructed with larger than standard members. Replacing the headers with RMC's headers will require more modification to their system and the supports already in place. Yes it is possible, but to retrofit RMC on an old Arrow mine train will have challenges like nothing they have ever done before. I can see it being done but it would not be like the others they have done, it would have to remain a kid friendly ride. And for that reason I don't see it being converted. And I am well aware of lightning rod with it being a family ride. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

  15. ^ Not several, Just a few. I don't know where they are, but there isn't that many. I'm not surprised by the Transfer Table part of it, I'm a little more Skeptical of his choice of wording at the beginning of it saying, "seemingly paranormal contents" Feels like, that gives it a little bit away at least for the theme of it.

  16. Several coasters have their storage track/maintenance shed under them.

  17. I recall Gwazi having a transfer track on each side just before the station, but I don't recall the turn going into the station being as sharp as what is indicated on the MT track layout. I was at Dollywood for their "Christmas in the Smokies" last weekend and while in line for Lightning Rod they were adding another train because of the crowds. Let me just say that the transfer track is ingenious...when not in use, the 2nd train is actually is stored just below the operational train while in the station and is loaded onto the track via an elevator like platform. It's kinda hard to describe unless you see it in action, but based on the track layout rendering of MT that we see now, I don't think that is what we will see in the shed. Besides, the train is empty for safety reasons during a transfer so it definitely is not rider inclusive.

  18. Since it was on GCI's website, I assume it was reviewed by his superior's prior to posting, though certainly not guaranteed. With that said, its not like he gave anything away. Of the small % of those who ride next year that truly care what is in the shed and understand any of the coaster science behind a ride, they would have already assumed with a good amount of confidence that the transfer table was going to be in or around that shed. Other than confirming what we already knew, he doesn't tell us anything much beyond they layman's description of how said design is detailed

  19. I don't think it's necessarily a big surprise that there's a transfer track... That's standard on every GCI and every multi-trained coaster I can think of. They need to be able to take trains off and put trains on the track easily...

  20. I like the thoughts he put out, but I hope he was allowed to send the post via the park and the GCI Company without breaking any NDA's

  21. The article above mentioned "seemingly paranormal contents" in the shed- could there be a Spilntercat inside? Possibly Oakley (the giant tree thing)? Honestly, I'm not too concerned about what's in the shed, I'm just excited to ride this thing!

  32. I just cat wait to read all of the whiny posts on their FB page.... or rather hear about them since I dont read KIs FB page..... about "You guys suck, it was supposed to have a drop track" or "What a ripoff, Wiki said there was going to be a corkscrew inversion inside the shed".

  33. ^ Not to mention the media. KI may request they not spoiler it, but they are under no obligation. Plus once you get in line there is not much you can do about the loud mouths.

  34. Even if we have an agreement here, it would probably still be hard to avoid if you have any enthusiast friends on Facebook or follow any industry social media. But, I'd be perfectly willing to spoiler tag any of my own references until things are commonly known.

  35. I agree. I feel like a great majority of us don't have the luxury to go opening day or weekend.

  37. Lol I don't know. it's been raining here in Indianapolis all day. I have no clue what weather could be like in Mason since I don't live there. Just a thought.

  38. I saw that earlier today. My coworker say me looking at the webcam and asked if it had to do with the shed. Then we watched the workers crawling through the life hill bents in awe--if the wind was anything up there like it was here, it was pretty stout. And looked to be raining something fierce, too.

  43. I got the chance to check out the lights tonight with my wife and my parents and it is well worth checking out. I was amazed at how many cars were there on a weeknight. The traffic moved continuously so we didn't get stuck out on the highway. Great job all around though on the show and synchronization.

  47. We are not getting to far with when MS will open. At this point, time will be our only incication and I personally think weather and possible engineering suprises will determine its opening. One thing I have not seen posted is what everyones thoughts are on if this will be a chain lift or launch like Lightning Rod. My guess is chain lift, obviously this is a total guess.

  48. Maybe it's years of being disappointed, but I feel like everyone on here is always looking at best case scenario. I would wager that Mean Streak will not reopen next year. They likely have a LOT of work to do, and the winters in Sandusky are much more brutal than they are here.

  49. Some interesting purple-ish lighting over on Mean Streak's second wave turn tonight. Maybe a test for future installation? Or leftover Haunt effects? Could anyone else snag a screenshot and post it?
