  1. This, unfortunately, has been a long time coming. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that I am moving on from KICentral effective immediately. Over the past 14 years, I have seen this web site grow from a second place fan site to a media powerhouse. We crashed through the glass ceiling of being just a "fan site" and because a legitimate source of Kings Island and amusement industry news. Although I am grateful for the professional experience that I have gotten from this site, I am more grateful for the friendships that I have forged over the years with many of you. This goes from Dane, my former business partner and one of my best friends of 14 years, all the way to the many of you that I met as recently as this past season. Many times this KICentral Universe that you guys formed felt like family and these forums felt like home. We are a Universe of thousands upon thousands of people. We are all different ages, different races, and of different backgrounds. We are all only united under one unified banner: a love for Kings Island. Through all the ups and downs, I still feel like Kings Island is a great park and is run by even better people. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful place to create memories. Why am I stepping aside? Unfortunately due to a constraint in my personal time the growth of my own personal business I simply can not serve as an asset to the team any longer. Recently we appointed two new staff members: malem and IndyGuy4KI - which is a decision that has worked out fantastically. Their ambition and passion for the site has breathed a new light into the forums and as a result of this it became the perfect opportunity to pass the torch. Thank you for taking to time to read this, and thank you for a wonderful 14 years! Ryan aka BoddaH1994

  6. Your hard work over the years and passion for Kings Island has been truly appreciated by us all. I can't thank you enough for helping build KIC as a place centered around mutual respect and friendship. It has become a special place for many. I'm still humbled to have been asked to help in a leadership role here. It has been a joy to work with a team of great people eager to make KIC even better. Thanks for your support and advice, and best of luck with your current projects!

  8. I have not posted in a while, but Mystic Timbers looks absolutely beautiful. Many are right that the POV and the No Limits 2 rendering does not give this ride justice. Many park visitors are going to be in for a surprise come April. Also, by looking at the blueprints for the queue line and entry plaza, it looks like there will be some theming. Also is anyone else excited to see the lead car for the trains. Will it just be a blue truck or will there be other colors for the trains 2 and 3?

  9. I have to give a lot of credit to Ryan and Dane for helping me come out of my shell and meeting new people here on KIC. I originally came to this site to learn about the construction of DB. I still remember being Terp'ed by the very first post I ever made on this site. (I think we all have at some point.) I honestly wondered if I made the right decision to join after that first post. When the 2009 season stated I remember going to a KIC meetup where I meet Ryan. He came over and spoke to me, he took the time to get to know me and the few people I was with. Ryan made me feel comfortable into the community. It was refreshing to feel so welcomed by him. Thank you Ryan for all your hard work over the years as the face of KIC. I have meet so many great people from this site. If not for KIC, I many not have meet my best friend or my girlfriend. KIC means a lot to us for different reason. Please know that you helped build something special and amazing, and your work here has literally changed lives. I know it has mine! Best of luck to you on your new ventures, and much success with your business!

  10. I personally want to thank Ryan as well. He made me a staff member here on KIC back in 2005 (hard to believe that was twelve years ago). This site had been a big part of my life, and will continue to be. Thanks for your hard work Ryan and having trust in me to be a staff member. I have been in constant contact with Malem and IndyGuy4KI over the last several months and can assure you there are exciting things ahead. Good luck with your future endeavors, Ryan!

  14. Thank you for having the bright idea of making a fantastic Kings Island fansite that is so much more than that. You created friendships and memories for many on here... including me. I'm glad I was finally really able to meet up with some kicers last year. Thank you for creating a website that means so much to so many people. Best of luck to you sir!

  17. There will not be a train tour this year at Coasterstock. There will be a behind the scenes photo opportunity of the train tied in with Diamondback. We've added lights on tours of Haunt mazes during the event.

  18. Hi all! Some of you know me, many probably don't because I dont post like I did in year past. Let's just say KI and I go waaaaaaaay back. I have had a love affair with KI since I first heard about The Beast in 1979 and since I first attended in 1981 when the (original) Bat was new! Well, I have managed to keep tabs on the park for decades now. I was an avid coaster enthusiast for years, but my passion found it's birth in my early visits to KI. Throughout all my years of visiting the park, I collected souvenirs, collectibles, and other physical things. However I also amassed a lot of pictures (including rare, behind the scenes construction pictures), brochures, park maps, media kits, Press Releases etc. After years and years of sitting on a 4-drawer filing cabinet full of them, I finally decided I was being selfish by not sharing. So that's exactly what I am doing. I have created a FB page called "Sit on It." (It's a play on a slogan taken from a sign that used to hang in The Beast, and Racer stations. I loved the sign and always said if I were to create a site dedicated to my love of KI, that's what I'd call it!) So... I'd like to invite all of you to visit @SitOnItKI on FB. It's a work in progress... and I've only just begun to upload the hundreds of pictures, videos etc that I have dating back to Kings Islands opening years. All I ask is that you help me by giving credit to the page if you re-use one of my pictures, that will help promote it. Also, I welcome your nostalgic pictures and posts as well. I hope this isnt breaking any KICentral rules - I would have loved to contribute them - but frankly there's so many. My intent is to celebrate the wonderful park Kings Island has always been by looking back at it's past... and it's future! https://www.facebook.com/SitonItKI

  19. In my opinion, Kings Island could definitely use some classic flat rides. A Music Express ride at Kings Island would be awesome. There are a couple spots in Coney Mall that could fit a flat ride nicely. Also, there is the old site of the Salt Water Circus, behind the Eiffel Tower and International Showplace that could use a flat ride. That path is literally a connection, with nothing going on, besides the Paradise Island food stand that is sometimes open.

  20. When Paramount brought back Winterfest in 2005, the fountain was drained by about the first weekend in October so that they could start the process of building the wooden platform upon which the ice skating rink was built. The final weekend of the 2005 regular season was actually the first weekend in November, if my memory serves me correct. There was an odd juxtaposition of Haunt decorations and Fear Fest (as it was known at the time) decorations up, especially on International Street.

  21. Thank you sincerely for all of your hard work since 2003. My life certainly wouldn't be the same if I hadn't experienced KIC, and I wouldn't have experienced KIC if you and Dane (and anyone else I'm unintentionally forgetting) hadn't put it here. Best of luck in life's next adventures!

  26. Maybe its simply because of how busy they expect to be with other decorations for haunt and winterfest, including a presumably new haunt show or maze (the computer screen). Did the preparations to turn the fountain into a skating rink take awhile? I know they usually started doing that at the end of the season back when paramount brought it back for one year

  29. BoddaH, Thank you. Thank you for all of your hard work. If it weren't for you, this website would not be here today. I just want to say, that in my awkward teen years, I always found this forum as a safe place to unwind, to learn and see other people with a different eye. Though I didn't join until 2013, I was an avid reader way back in the early 2000s. This website helped me stay sane and even happy. And you were a part of that magical experience. Keep doing what you love. Let that fire motivate you. You can do anything. I don't have to wish you luck. You create your own. I know you will succeed at whatever you choose to do next. We will all miss you. Thank you again for creating this website, it truly has touched peoples' lives around here. Sincerely, Eric

  30. I'll eventually upload all that I have. (Its a slooow process with scanning etc) Frankly, I have so much, I won't know what I have until I get to it. As far as pictures, what I have is from the years I attended - and I first went to KiI in 1981.

  31. Oh wow- this I didn't expect. Best of luck to you in whatever comes next Boddah, and as others have said, feel free to visit every now and then. KICentral is an awesome site and you were one of the reasons why. I'd say more, but basically everyone else who posted above me kinda already said everything I'd want to. So I'll leave it at this: farewell for now Boddah, but hope to see you on here again from time to time at some point in the future.

  32. That was a beautiful post, BoddaH; I'll miss you but I do hope you come to the park and hang out with us sometime. Good luck in your personal endeavors and thanks for being a leader in making this site a great place to be. And I agree that Malem and IndyGuy are doing a fantastic job running things.

  37. Magenta Lizard asked on Twitter whether or not the plan is really taking Reds Hall of Fame Grille and Rivertown Potato Works off of the meal plan. They've stated that the plans have not been finalized and should be released soon. I'm just hoping what we're seeing on our end is the result of website work in preparation to a new website like Cedar Point's. One could hope.

  42. I'm glad it seems unlikely the gift shop will be in the exit. I understand the assumed psychology of an exit shop (still excited from the ride, riders will see our merchandise and have to have it!) but I just don't think it works. Especially in Banshee's shop, where there is not much room and no possible bypass for riders. There is nothing that takes away my urge to stop, look, and shop, more than having a small room flooded by thirty people at once. I just want to get out ASAP! I occasionally will look around in Diamondback Trading Post, but mostly I prefer the shops that are just shops, so there isn't constant flow of people who are disinterested in shopping that I need to avoid.

  43. I would actually think that animatronic trees waving their limbs chanting now you will pay would be a good ending. But being realistic it is more than likely going to be a screen based video, likely using projectors. It might have some physical prop in the ceiling as well. I could also see it being done in real time, which would allow it to be random. Likely this is being done by Triotech. Since the shed appears to be a sawmill and the theme of the ride appears to be you in a truck fleeing growing vines and trees. You likely stop in the shed then see a video which shows the sawmill getting attacked by "nature". I just hope it is something which is fun to watch over and over again. One of the problems with screen based attractions is that I find myself getting bored of them quickly and not wanting to ride them frequently. Having made frequent visits to Universal and Disney I find myself wanting to skip the video portion and just do the ride.

  44. I like your concept. But keep in mind that the service road that is right there is one of the only ways to reach Banshee from the Maintenance shed.

  45. Completely agree with all of this right here. You should seek to be a designer or architect. Seriously

  46. I agree that a Ferris Wheel and Triotech attraction could both make great additions, although I'm not sure I'm the biggest fan of those spots. That Ferris Wheel location would remove the Skyline Patio, which is a convenient dining area for guests. If it was gone guests would have to crowd the Coney midway while eating. For Triotech, we have two oversized, empty buildings that could potentially fit a ride. Both the former Action Theater and Crypt are now storage / haunt mazes, yet both seem large enough for an attraction like Knott's Voyage to the Iron Reef.

  47. While I like the idea of a Ferris Wheel returning to Kings Island, I don`t see that happening any time soon. Ferris Wheels do not get great capacity (you can only load one or a couple of cars at a time versus loading an entire ride at once, like Scrambler and Shake Rattle and Roll). It would be nice to see something put on that plot of land between Adventure Express, Racer and Flight of Fear though. I don`t know if we will ever see anything placed there or not.

  48. So, where could be the best place for the photos? Bottom of the 2nd drop? In the shed? Hmmm

  49. Im going to be honest with you either that is for part of the queue or for lockers. If it was for a giftshop the walls would have been up before the roof was installed.
