  1. The details behind the switch are it was a management decision. Running both sides forward again was a return to how the ride operated from its opening in 1972 through spring 1982, which is where nostalgia came into play. Something old was new again for our guests.

  3. Thanks for that calcification Shaggy. I don't want people to think he is not knowledgeable about the park industry as a whole. I have learned a lot from him on these boards over the years. He is a well respected member and brings a lot to our community. Whatever is keeping him away, I hope he is able to return to us soon. Back to our normal programming, I would like to see the old SOB station used for a new coast that extends behind FH and back. I might be dreaming here, but I would like to see a Maverick coaster back there!

  4. With all due respect to Interpreter, it does need to be clarified that he was never privy to, or a part of, Management and decision making at the park. His statements, however leading, misleading, on point or vague were never based on official internal information. He was a spectator just like the rest of us. That having been said, I do find it odd that he suddenly dropped off - he devoured these boards. I've known the *real* guy behind the Interpreter for years, and I do hope he is ok.

  5. I could see that happening. Nature trying to put the truck (humans) through what the trees are made to go through; the sawing and shaping, sometimes heating. MT just got political; save the trees! lol

  6. Ironically the best theming came from the Taft era. Don't get me wrong Paramount did great theming too but Taft made it fit. Taft did Adventure Express and Phantom Theater after all.

  9. I just wish there was more consistent theming throughout the sections of the park. For example, I can't tell that Oktoberfest is anything remotely german-ey. Some of the rides that have theming need to be touched up desperately, like Boo Blasters or Adventure Express. I think Kings Island is really special, and some of the specialness isn't being showcased. Like I saw a picture recently of former paw prints that led to The Beast-- and I thought that was super cool. It's a small touch to showcase an attraction that no one else in the world has.

  13. I'm literally freaking out right now! The theme is fantastic and the truck looks even more amazing in person then it did the animation! I'm getting more and more excited as the days pass! April 14th hurry up! (or 13th, and 15th for some people.)

  14. 7-1 is the row by must. 7th car first row. You get some good airtime going down the first drop. 5-1 is typically referred to as toomer seat as the ride was designed around that row. I've never had a bad ride in 7-1. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

  15. Just because something Terpy mentioned that could have been taken out of context, or was misleading with how we know Terpy phrases things sometimes does not make him a less reliable source or less knowledgeable about the industry.

  16. That is incorrect, I was trying to redirect you earlier with the correct info. You can either believe the reality of the situation or not. Here is the answer from Don himself.

  17. Who said it has anything to do with PTC requirements? It is my understanding that CF made the decision to run them forward not PTC changing polices.

  18. ^Overall though, Kings Island seems to have fairly good theming. Obviously not on the level of Disney or Busch, but compared to most other Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks, it's pretty good. Plus it's not all from the times of Paramount, as we can see with Banshee and Mystic Timbers. Hopefully this kickstarts a chain of new rides with pretty good theming around Cedar Fair, as well as refurbishment of the theming of older rides such as Adventure Express and BLSC whose theming is just a bit... weathered Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. That truck is gorgeous! Appropriately aged for the theme ... not that you'd have to physically age it yourself all that much Gonna need to start doing some research about Miami River Lumber Company lol Notice the truck in the photo is sitting JUST outside the webcam I wonder what else is at the park that we can't see

  20. Exciting! I can't wait to see Mystic Testing... but it looks like there's still a lot to do with the ride's buildings/ theming And I'm honestly a little concerned that the queue-crete hasn't been poured yet A month and a week till opening

  23. The difference between Thunder Road's placement and Racer's placement is the fact that there wasn't giant hills behind TH. You can't really do much with the land behind Racer. I think KI's focus of any kind of expansion will be in Rivertown and Action Zone in consideration of Timberwolf's future.

  24. Can Drop Tower please be repainted and renamed Demon Drop? It would add to the spooky theme the park is trying to push in Action Zone and it would also pay homage to Screamin' Demon. I'm kinda tired of the checkerboard look and the current colors.

  25. 6-1 is rather good as well.

  26. This is an official statement from the park.....why are we still debating it? The fact is Racer has both sides facing forward and until the park decides to change it, it will stay that way.

  29. I remember reading on this site that this is a false rumor and Kings Island made the decision to turn it around purely on their own. I believe Kings Island responded to a Facebook comment and said so.

  30. I don't post here often, actually only twice before. But I'm going to take a guess at whats in the shed. I don't know if any one else has thrown it out there but the shed looks like its part of a Lumber mill. So the shed Might be A Milling shed with saw blades as you slowly roll by. Just a thought. I Know the PR guy for the park said somewhere that if someone guessed it they would announce it. With all the good guesses I don't see how we haven't gotten it yet. What do you guys think?

  31. I really am curious how the track work is coming along, we haven't seen many pictures back there except from the side, showing the structure being completed, but I wonder where the final shapings and the rails have already been installed at.

  34. I don't personally see the removal of Congo Falls taking place until TimberWolf is removed. I'll also go ahead and say that I believe this "double removal" will take place in the next 10-12 years. Food for thought: Carowinds just scrapped a similar ride to Congo Falls because they needed the room as part of their new "County Fair" expansion. I'm certainly not implying that we're getting that sort of expansion, but rather that rides like Congo Falls tend to be an easy choice to remove if in the way of future planned expansion areas. When the time comes when that area of Action Zone is needed for expansion, don't expect to see the ride or amphitheater stick around. 36. Since I had posted my uniform picture (also my new KIC profile picture) on my Instagram, a number of my classmates brought it up at lunch today, one of whom also loves Vortex. A lot of them hope to come visit me when they're at the Island this summer. It'll be so fun seeing so many friends! Speaking of friends, one of my friends, Kaeli, who graduated from my high school last year, applied for a position in Rides and got a phone call for an interview. She mentioned to the person on the phone that she knows me, so she has a chance of maybe ending up on my crew, if she is offered a position and if the WindSeeker/Vortex crew is one of the options! Kaeli's interview is this Sunday, the 12th, at 1 p.m. Fingers crossed that she gets the job!

  37. Looks like the ride already has better theming than 85% of the rides at KI. It's Looking great, Still so happy Cedar Fair decided to give us a coaster that is nice. 39 more days, So practically 9 Days and 1 Month Left!

  38. ^So far I can't. Although I know a few folks disappointed it wasn't 300 ft. and a hundred miles an hour. I personally can't wait to take a lap or ten on it. Alas, looks like I'll be waiting till the second weekend to do just that, as I have a "Fury"ious plans to do some Volcano exploring that first weekend.

  39. Might be more WindSeeker, especially if I am with electricsun. She is not the biggest fan of Vortex.

  40. I'd like to see Congo Falls stay, but I'd like there to be a way to not walk around in wet clothes until I dried and not have to change into swim gear. That could be said for any of the water rides at the park though. I think the queue needs to be changed a bit, to be more direct, more pronounced. Half the time it looks like guests are just heading to Drop Tower.

  41. I wonder if they added a little more theming to Congo Falls if that would attract more people to it. I always skip Congo Falls truthfully, but I might not if there was a little more to look at.

  42. I honestly think they'd only get rid of a ride if something was immediately going to replace it within the next year or so. I don't know what they would fit in the Congo falls space

  43. I wouldn't mind seeing Congo Falls go. I think Kings Island could find a much better attraction for that area.

  44. The front gate bathrooms need an expansion, in my opinion. For the people who don't have a Gold/Platinum Pass have to wait in a long line for the bathroom. Also this needs improvement, (look below) https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3312/5816565051_0c6f6d2bf9_b.jpg

  46. Repeating a lot of ideas already posted, but... I wonder if a lot of these great ideas are not happening due to the fact that there simply isn’t enough employees? It would make sense financially to have more food, for instance, but when they can barely keep the ones currently staffed, I don’t see that happening. One thing I would LOVE is one drink option that is not carbonated pop. Drinking Coca-Cola all day is just not good… A few more flat rates. There seems to be a lot of areas that could use a simple, classic flat ride. Less loud, obnoxious pop music. It seems to be everywhere in the park, and would be nice to have a break from it. More shade in line queue is an obvious and cheap improvement.
