  2. Congratulations! (My husband and I got engaged at the park, on "Days of Thunder"- it was the only ride where I felt I wouldn't lose the ring.)

  5. In addition to everything already posted here, I can offer 1 more tip based on my trips to Holiday World- for a amazing view of the Waterpark as well as Voyage (and now probably Thunderbird- my last visit to HW was in 2013 so it wasn't there yet), while in the waterpark, go to ride the gigantic purple waterslide known as ZOOMbabwe. It is over 100 feet tall, and on the edge of the waterpark, so you can see nearly every other waterslide from there. Also should Legend be running (witch it should unless it breaks down), do note that it passes directly under ZOOMbabwe and when it does the entire st

  8. Doesn't even need to be a big flat. I think Coney Mall is begging for something like a tilt-a-whirl on Flight Commander's pad.

  9. Wait... and you'll be at KI on the 4th (I think?)? If so, wow!!!! Still, wow! That's jam packed w/coasters! Interested to hear about La Ronde, Great Escape (I went there in the early 2000s) and of course Boulder Dash! Stay safe and stay hydrated with some good ol' H2O.

  10. No, I am not a fan of this at all. I go to the parks to get away from this kind of stuff.

  13. The waterpark entrance is between Legend and Voyage, but much closer to Legend than Voyage, so you'll want to hit the lockers before Voyage. Waiting until after Voyage means quite a bit of backtracking, and in a park with that many hills, you want to avoid backtracking.

  15. Great trip report!!!! I love the details you put into it. I'm so incredibly glad you enjoyed Diamondback in the front row at night. It's one of my favorite night rides and especially in the front. I remember when I worked at Diamondback, at the end of the night we'd do a test ride or two....I'd always fight my coworkers for a front row ride. However, the only time I hated front row was a Haunt several years back when it rained so much and it was so cold that a front row ride (well really any row) was so uncomfortable. Again, thanks for sharing!

  16. I actually LIKED your post because you gave us military ranks as you weren't about to rank the coasters. Or so I thought. At least it wasn't Comic Sans. This time. As for technology to ketchup, you'd hit Red Gold.

  17. One of my goals in life is to say something silly in the park, come home, and read it here. Terpy has been known to: * Ask if Racer goes upside down. * Ask why they aren't running the second train on Invertigo. * Ask when Kings Island took out Chang, and why. * Ask where the nearest place in the park is where I can get Papa John's Pizza. * Ask where the Scooby Show is. * Listen with great interest to the answers, some of which have been very good! All these things are to other guests, not park employees...though I must admit I have more than once been tempted to show my Six Flag

  21. While eating dinner at Juke-Box Diner today, my son asked "why do they have targets on the wall". I responded with "no, those are records" before the obvious "what are records?" question came out. I started to respond before saying "never mind" and spent the next several minutes thinking about how many songs I have or had in all of the following formats: 45, Record, Cassette, CD, MP3.

  23. i heard a few good ones yesturday "oh my god are we suposed to be back here" (teen girl by Flight of Fear looking at paranormal sign) "they already had a diamonback in 1992, but to many people died on it so they did repairs and brought it back" and of course "daddy is this a ride" "no actually i think its a resturaunt, lets try Firehawk" (FOF) you'd think theyd see the "you must be this tall to ride" sign, the huge line, and the guy in front measuring people ... wow

  24. In brake section for Diamondback: Guy leans over to talk to his friend, "Gee, this sure is a great park you have here, Mr. Wally!" I knew he was just joking around but I still found it funny.

  27. Hey, I'll take billion-dollar version of Diamondback! That would be 45.454 times bigger, making it either 45 miles long, 2 hours and 27 minutes long, and/or 10,454 feet tall or something!

  28. Someone pointed to Diamondback and asked me what that was. Someone tried to argue with me at Diamondback was "Dynamite" while we were in line for it. DyynnoooMITE!!!

  29. At the end of a night ride on SoB on opening day, a guy in the car ahead of me said "Wow, I couldn't feel the loop at all". His ride partner replied "Neither did I. Did they take it out?" My first thought was that it was two of y'all just trying to see if I or someone else would post it here.

  30. I was in line for Backlot and someone said, "Diamondback is the tallest and fastest ride in the world..." It was actually kinda funny though!! It was like a ten minute family dispute behind me about it.

  31. This is what I heard while sitting in Coney Mall. This conversation was between a guy and (i'm guessing) his daughter. Guy: Let's go ride The Spider Girl: It says it's called The Monster! Guy: Well it used to be called the spider, but they renamed it! Girl: okay.

  32. While Kat and I were in line for Delirium, these two maybe 10 year old boys behind us were arguing whether or not someone had died on it. One kid proclaimed that one of the harnesses popped open and someone flew out and died. Then the one said something about how cool it would be if you flew out and landed on an open seat on Diamondback. They started giggling and joking about how someone would die on Swipers Sweepers. It was all I could do to stop from cracking up at that one.

  33. While waiting in line for Firehawk we heard some guy with an A.C.E shirt on say he waited in line for Diamondback for 9 hours. It had just turned 4 O'clock. He was having a very loud conversation with his wife on his cell phone about it. I don't know if he was trying to make people not want to ride or what. He kept spurting out random incorrect facts about it though.

  34. From opening day, while stuck on the final lift hill of Adventure Express for 10 minutes: The girl in front of me says “I would so die if we started going backwards right now.” I felt like telling her about the anti-rollback but didn’t feel like trying to explain that to her. A few minutes later the girl behind me says, “If we started going backwards , there a curve in the tunnel behind us and we wouldn’t turn, we’d go straight through the wall”…sigh.

  35. Indianapolisman and I heard a CLASSIC in the smoking area in Coney Mall. We were talking to an obvious SFKK fan, and he let us in on some very hot, top secret info!! It seems his Friend who works there (obviously the Dippin Dots guy) showed him the blueprints for some very hot expansion plans at KK over the next wo years. Not only did SFKK buy the rights to Diamondback from B&M with plans to open an exact replica, but are also in the process of bringing back a few other rides (the names of which escape me at the moment) and by 2011 SFKK will be twice the size of KI!!

  36. I had to bite my tongue while waiting for The Beast Saturday, the guys next to me waiting for the front of the train (I was in the "back end" lane) were talking about SOB. One said they took the loop out because there was a small accident. I was thinking, "hmm this could be an intelligent conversation I may have to join in..." until he said, "yeah, the track where the wood met the metal loop separated and the train fell off, a bunch of people had broken backs!" And the other guy was like "that's not what happened at all, it derailed and got stuck in the loop so they got new trains with bigg

  39. I actually heard a news anchor refer to the park as "King Islands". Many times news people move into an area from another part of the country, and they go right to work before they're fully acquainted with local place names.

  43. Question from Tuesday while walking to my engineering class: "Hey Jordan" "What?" "Diamondback's got 7 inversions right?" "Phbbbt." "What? I read it on the website." "Your lack of information is something I can't describe. What website did you read that from?" "KICentral.com" "-long pause- Wow."

Kid: Some kids told me it's gonna get demolished and replaced next year Me: They say that every year since 2002. It's fine. Kid: What's it gonna get replaced with?

  49. I second that. It is worth the 3 hour drive from where I sit. I'm going on closing day (after being harassed by many ), and I don't care if it's so cold I have to wear a down coat and gloves. (hey, I made it to enthusiast status! w00t!)
