  1. Ya got me! You are right, that was a poorly written post. In the the days of text to speech and being on mobile, some grammar is not going to be on par with what it should be. As moderators we understand that. We do not moderate grammar unless it is totally unreadable and/or makes no sense. As moderators we have to make decisions which are best for the community. Those decisions will not make everyone happy. I do find it funny you want me and others to adhere to the policies , but your post is in violation of several itself. If you do not like how KIC admin are moderating you are more than welcome to send us a PM about your concerns.

  4. Regular season passes don't give admission to Haunt or Winterfest. Really, I think that paying around the price of two full-price single day tickets to the park, and receiving free admission and parking any day they're open is plenty of "perk." If what you mean is you want more exclusivity to special events, really the only thing that is going to do it is either a large increase in the price of season passes (so that less people buy them), or something like the Ride Warriors club up at CP where you pay to belong to an exclusive club invited to multiple special events (which apparently was not worth it from that park's point of view since it has been disbanded), or upcharges for individual events (like the Banshee Brew festival or Spirit Song). As far as I'm concerned, the best semi-exclusive perk is Coasterstock, and I'll definitely be paying to attend it for the fourth year in a row.

  5. It's a conspiracy, man. They use grammar to get in your head and make you conform to society, man. Next thing you know, you'll have to get a job and pay some bills, man.

  6. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t I see an interview with Mr. Helbig around the time of all the Cedar Fair announcements saying that there would be some type of an announcement at a later date or something along those lines?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. He did say there would be a later announcement. He did not say when. However that tweet was about something CP in particular said in their own Snapchat, so I would take it with a grain of salt to assume that KI or other parks are going to also do something soon. I hope I'm wrong tho, because I'm excitedly anticipating officially hearing what is coming to KI next year, too.

  9. Is it just me, or does having a Gold Pass feels like less and less of a perk with each passing year. At this point I feel like they should just drop the word "Gold" and just refer to it as a Season Pass since basically everyone who gets a pass has a Gold Pass. Please understand that I'm not complaining, just expressing my opinion based on my observations as a pass holder for the majority of my life. Lately, though, there really doesn't seem like there is much difference between Gold and Regular. Yes, Gold offers "Perks" but is it really a perk when everyone has one? Is a Gold Pass Preview Night really a "Exclusive" when the lines are longer than a regular operating day? If a Gold Pass is there to offer people exclusive events, then I feel it should be a little harder for everyone to obtain one. Again, I'm not complaining and not trying to start a big discussion. Just voicing my opinion of the whole thing based on my observations.

  10. I always felt a steeplechase coaster could be a great addition. The style of the ride and horse themed vehicles would make for a nice fit for both Rivertown and Coney Mall as well and make a nice transitional type theme and attration that straddles the two. Could be a fun multi launch twister style layout as well.

  11. So I started reading this thread and was curious about "GP" Night. Wait..Wut? General Public Night? What is that? Actually that would be an interesting promotion. A ticket only night free of all the passholders. Could become very popular.

  14. This makes sense to me. I think people have a habit of reading forum rules and immediately jumping to the most cartoonishly exaggerated worst case scenario with delusions of fascism. If you really think about it, most of them are common sense. Be mindful of others. If it's something you can't say in a public place, don't say it here. I'm assuming the grammar policy either is linked to correct spelling of ride names, trademarks, etc. (IIRC that was a bit of thing a few years) or text-talk (which how much time do you really save spelling "tho" instead of "though" or "ppl" instead of "people?"). Am I mistaken? The moderators don't even have the time to worry about missing comma nor every sentence that incorrectly ends with "to" or "of" and I just don't see anybody getting banned for saying "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less." So this idea that we're being taken advantage of is simply unrealistic.

  15. Actually life has taught me that it's not really that fun to rip apart internet trolls such as yourself. Especially ones with a poor persona. Being wordy and trying to talk down on people is only going to really get the weakest people upset. Most people experienced with internet trolls will just roll their eyes at the schtick. As for the mods, a simple IP check would probably determine your regular username on here and be able to expose you to the world. And if you were smart enough to evade that, it takes less time to ban a troll account than it does to create one, so it's just a matter of time until you get frustrated and quit.

  16. I'm shaking my head right now in disbelief and disappointment, it is really disappointing to know that people find it comical that administration is taking utter advantage of them. Note this, self-respect takes people long distances in life from building self-character and cleverness, to becoming assertive to not become a tube man. -The Queen of Chess.

  18. Regular exists such that only people who buy early get the best deal. Those who wait until peak season to buy their admission have to pay more to get less. Having regular passes on sale now shows how great of a value Gold is in comparison.
    3 points
  19. The chance to buy a gold pass expires around Memorial Day, as it has for years. The change has been that (gold) passes for the next season have gone on sale earlier, but that offer doesn't include gold status for the current season.

  20. I miss this, as well. Also, I hope they never change the ride's soundtrack. In a way, it's theming. You walk up, and you're in the 70s. I love it!

  21. If we don't get it in 2019, we would probably receive it in 2020 or 2021. 2022 is a possibility, but not very likely in my eyes. The 50th anniversary in my opinion will be used for general park improvements like paint, new flowers, new lights, etc. Also, even if we don't see construction on opening day, we could still see some stuff popping up throughout the season, but our expectations should be lowered now and definitely if we don't see teasers or construction on opening day, you should definitely lower your hopes. I should tell everyone to not get your hopes up that Kings Island is getting a coaster in 2019, which there is a good chance they aren't and you'll be disappointed when no coaster is announced next August.

  23. Only tear BLSC down if they put something in that's better and worth the loss of BLSC, the ride is a solid fun ride with the coveted 48" mark (was my daughter's favorite ride at 48" when she got there a few years ago). I understand people's displeasure with it due to the fact it got rid of the antique cars, but the ride is fun, isn't uncomfortable, and one of the few rides with some halfway decent theming in it, even if that theming has diminished over time due to the loss of the Italian Job theme. I'd argue the theme of BLSC is fourth best of the roller coasters at Kings Island behind Flight of Fear (more the queue than the ride), Banshee, & Mystic Timbers (yes, better than Adventure Express).

  24. ^ Winterfest is absolutely happening this season. Closing Day was dead because the temperature was about 7°F (-5° with the windchill). Rides obviously couldn't run with it that cold, but it was still fun!

  25. Walking through the park on Closing Day of Winterfest almost felt like an off-season tour. Especially Planet Snoopy and the back half of Action Zone.

  26. What if they replaced BLSC with the new S&S Steeplechase ride? That would be an amazing replacement, at least I think. Also they could Theme it much better and would fit into that area better than BLSC does.

  27. ^^ I'd love that. I was only saying that area's he had the coaster drawn in was far fetched going between BLSC and Diamondback. That's just IMO. Haha I think it will be huge but they have the land to play with and not have to cut across half the midways in the park lol

  28. A big coaster isn't necessarily a "bad" thing, But I do get your point. We have space though and I don't think CF&KI are going to be particularly "cheap" with this coaster. I think they are willing to spend money on a record-breaking coaster and I personally think this coaster will be bigger than Fury 325 height-wise and length-wise.

  29. Note KI and CP Food Blogs are not ran by the parks. Not necessarily anything official.

  30. ^^YES!!!! Yes yes yes..... Feeding my younglings is always a chore, anything covered or air conditioned makes it easier...hah. If they lay it out like Soak City on the line side of things, it should operate pretty efficiently as well. Fingers crossed!

  31. I like the way that they have it set up line-wise in Soak City but I would like to see some indoor seating as it is needed in that part of the park especially during Winterfest.

  32. Personally, I'd love an Island Smokehouse Part II - I thought it was well thought out and even when the line was pretty long, it moved fast and the bottleneck of the checkout seemed lessened somehow compared to other places. I'd really like to see lots of indoor seating or covered seating, kind of like the Chicken Shack in Action Zone. Either way, a new restaurant will help dilute the traffic at the other restaurants in CM, which will make me super happy!

  36. Good reason for KI to add additional Platinum events. I’m guessing only a fraction of pass holders at KI are Platinum. It would be a selling point to get more people to upgrade.
    2 points
  37. Remember, CP only has platinum and regular passes. If you get a regular pass, you do not have access to any of the ERT, etc that comes with a Platinum pass.

  39. You could say that Platinum is the new Gold. But I’ve found the only advantage is you get admission to all parks and a 20% discount on food and merchandise. One could argue that they should add Platinum only extras like more ERT. Open the park an hour early for Platinum (like they already do at CP) and half our early for gold.

  40. Time's have changed. We as a culture have gone mobile and through social media, with just one click, we are able to keep up to date on the park's events. People are more informed about preview night now. Also consider that last year debuted Mystic Timbers and that a couple years back, it was on a Thursday.

  41. I completely agree...ummmm...go look at the prices on both right now. The gold pass is actually cheaper. Wth... Based on all I've heard about the sneak peek night, they should at least consider running two of those vs. just one. Imagine being one of those teenagers working a food venue getting baptized by fire on a day that isn't even opening day. lol

  42. My question is this: If they're not going to limit it's availability and events are no longer truly exclusive, then why offer both the Gold Pass and Regular Pass options? My opinion is that they should just merge them and have one option. Why in the world would someone buy a Regular pass over a Gold one? Just seems odd to have both options. Platinum options makes sense since it offers more benefits, so maybe they just have two options - Gold and Platinum.

  43. ^ If I'm not mistaken, they have the same buy-out days they usually have: the first Sunday in the season, the two weekends in September, and the first Haunt Saturday till 7pm.
