  3. @Maverick44 I've ridden my fair share of intamins too and everyone likes what they like. However its hardly realistic that we'll see any major new Intamin installs within Cedar Fair unless its an impulse coaster or a used ride. Intamin has dropped the ball when it comes to reliably: Maverick and I305 had to be redesigned to make safety improvements, Shoot the Rapids could have killed its passengers, TTD and Xcelerator's cables snapped causing injuries, Superman: Ride of Steel failed to detect an unsecure restraint leading to the rider being ejected from the ride. The company even states that accidents are inevitable which, in my opinion, is a sorry excuse for their reliability and doesn't really accept accountability. Its a known fact that the newer Intamin rides aren't the safest so why want something that could cause potential harm to guests? Companies like B&M, Mack, RMC, GCI, etc make rides that are a lot more safe and reliable than anything Intamin has made

  4. I had been in contract with the park since this picture made social media. Earlier today, I heard from Chad Showalter who confirmed that these are in fact new seats for Diamndback. Keep an eye on KI social media for pictures in the coming weeks!

  5. Does anything ever come out of B&M vs. Intamin debates besides flames? Not trying to police what y'all talk about, but it seems like we hit up this subject every six months around here and never get anywhere constructive with it. Not to mention that in recent years, manufacturers like S&S and RMC have opened more rides in America than either B&M or Intamin... But that's just my two cents.

  7. I know Mack hasn't went over 300 feet yet. But when looking at their website it seems like they are throwing it out there that they can. I'd like a KI Giga to come from Mack. That's the closest thing your going to get to an Intiman, just a lot more reliable. Do I think that's gonna happen? NO!! I think KI is gonna get the first terrain Giga. I think the drop will be similar to what Apollo's Chariot does. I could see KI having about a 310 foot lift hill with a 340-350 drop. Especially if it's placed in the Dino's plot. I def think this Giga will be a B&M. With the B&M plant being 25 minutes away from KI it should keep shipping costs down and allow them to add more money into the ride. At least that's what I'm thinking. Anyways I hope this happens sooner rather than later.

  11. You got to remember the times. Back then, kids could go roller skating in the streets with no helmets or pads. You could still whip your kids. Pregnant women smoked and drank. People smoked everywhere, including airplanes(gag). And lawyers didn't rule the world. Safety wasn't as big of a thing. Looking back, the guy clearly was asking for it. But then, they all probably had a good laugh about until he died.

  13. That was a parody concept I made years ago. A couple of years ago, one member suggested that the park should put some type of launch coaster between The Racer and FOF. I have to find the thread where he/she posted it

  15. This just hit me, I would really like to see the park have least 3 coasters over 200ft in the distant future- Diamondback, a giga, and hopefully a dive machine. With Cedar Point currently having 6 coasters over 200ft, I think the chain will be more comfortable allowing higher coasters at their other parks, especially with competition with other parks from different chains.

  21. When I was in elementary school, we went on a field trip to KI to ride the monorail. It was my first time being in the park while it was closed; the only thing open was the monorail. IIRC, our school was the only one there but I could very well be mistaken about that. I was going to Hopewell Elementary at the time so this would have been 1st or 2nd grade in 1979-1981 or 4th or 5th grade in 1982 - 1984 (we had switched school districts in 3rd grade). That's a field trip I'll always remember because it was so different to see the park absolutely quiet and I though it was so neat that they would open just for us. Back then, my family only got to visit the park once a year using the tickets that my grandma got from working at KI. In addition to the park tickets, the employees were given tickets to the monorail too; I even received them when I started working at the park in '89, so I rode it every time I went back then. And thanks for citing your sources. I was going to ask for them too because a lot of those incidents sound like disciplinary issues that would have been kept within the park, but I can see how they were probably in the investigative reports that followed.

  22. ^^ When I watch older movies with my kids (recently "Jaws"), they comment on how all of the people smoke all of the time...ever since they've brought it up, I notice it as well! It was just totally normal back then for everyone to walk around with a cigarette. One scene in Jaws, Sheriff Brody takes a big long drag and tosses the butt in the ocean! My 8 year old was all, "He's a smoker AND a litter-er!"

  24. I don't want the wing style seats on a giga because its unique to Diamondback. Plus single row trains are faster to load, imo

  28. Yeah I've been all over back there and wasn't sure which pond/lake it was referring to. Very cool to see it laid out like that! I was even thinking maybe it was the pond by the campground, but it seems to fit that photoshop just fine. The road going from the old SOB station out past FOF totally feels like you're driving through the Savannah.

  29. That would be nice, but the capacity would be less. I usually have to wait more for Diamondback than Banshee since Banshee's trains sit four across. If we get a giga, I want it to have the fury style trains since that would help the opening weekend craziness. I think passholder preview for this giga would be twice as worse than what it was for Mystic Timbers. It would probably be a seven hour wait. A friend of mine had to wait seven hours for Banshee on opening weekend.

  31. Have not yet ridden Fury but I feel like that would be insane with all its twists and turns! EDIT: Also, RE: Diamondback being boring- that was one of the reasons that I didn't used to like Diamondback, but for some reason I enjoyed it more and more than I did in past seasons. It's still not my favorite coaster (The Bat (1993) is!), but it's climbing up the ranks...

  33. That's fine I'll wait that for an Intamin. Waited longer then that before. Have fun with your minivan! i'll take the corvette! All in good fun. I'd be happy with any giga at this point. Just fanboying out over here.

  37. I'm showing my age here...but this is kind of funny. So I remembered going on this safari as a little girl, probably when I was about 5...and apparently didn't go back to the park again until after the ride was removed. When I went back and it was gone, I had for years convinced myself that I was a crazy person and that I had never been on a monorail safari at KI, that my 5 year old self just imagined it. No one I knew that had been to KI as a kid remembered it and even my parents werent' sure what I was recalling - yet they were the ones that took me... Then lo and behold, one random day a couple of years ago, I decided to google it all and I found all kinds of pictures, history, and even some video. It was nice to know that I wasn't crazy This article was very cool to read, thank you for sharing! Looks like a lot of work went in to gathering all of the history and details of the incident.

  38. AFAIK The Lion Country Safari was never opened year-round at KI. It was intended to, but never did. The park issued a press release the first week of October 1974 indicating the attraction would be open weekends only through November (originally intended for daily operations) and then closed for the winter months. (Mostly because the area was bracing for a hard winter - predicted by the farmers almanac.)

  39. The individual who posted the picture did so on a social media site under his given name, and has posted many photos before. He is also featured on the FunTV segment about working on roller coasters (at least I think he is, he was not named, but his social media photo matches the image on FunTV.) I admire the work these people do. Imagine the hours, the weather and the production deadlines. Kudos to them.

  41. Seats, not trains. Not announced, a leaked photo from (I believe they are saying) someone in maintenance's instagram. I hope said employee didn't lose their job over it. But if you wanna know more read back in the thread, it would make more sense than repeating all of it over.

  43. I'm thinking it was a breakdown in material.....sun exposure probably doesn't help. The person who I saw the original picture from (works in maintenance) has stated that they tried to fix the seats as well as having 3rd parties trying to improve them with no success. Can anyone photoshop the seats to be black? @MDMC01 I highly doubt they'd get rid of the stadium style seating....that'd have to reconfigure the programming for the station, they'd have to get new chasis, and they'd have to reconfigure the PLC system. Apollo's Chariot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg does have black seats on it....there are quite a few B&Ms that have black or dark seats. 44. Ya got me! You are right, that was a poorly written post. In the the days of text to speech and being on mobile, some grammar is not going to be on par with what it should be. As moderators we understand that. We do not moderate grammar unless it is totally unreadable and/or makes no sense. As moderators we have to make decisions which are best for the community. Those decisions will not make everyone happy. I do find it funny you want me and others to adhere to the policies , but your post is in violation of several itself. If you do not like how KIC admin are moderating you are more than welcome to send us a PM about your concerns.

  45. KIs safari area was still like that at least as of 08. It's just so overgrown you can't see it on the satellite photos now. There are still a couple buildings out there and the TALL fencing is there in parts.

  48. ^^Considering the person in questions is the head of PR at KI I believe it very likely this person would check on these forums if there is potentially a teaser. Also considering that there have been teasers alluding to people on this forum (for Banshee), and that this man has posted and responded to questions and quotes multiple times on this forum it is all very likely that he, as well as others know. If RMC was put in the snow I think we’d have a few old faces come back to rave about how much better RMC is than GCI and that the next coaster will DEFINITELY be either an RMC or like that “cowboy coaster” at Cedar Point [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
