  1. Can we have them back until they're ready to install them again at Carowinds?

  2. I would not. If they were to build an RMC, I think it would be from the ground up. I can't see them doing the RMC treatment to The Beast.

  3. No problem @Gannersdaddy! Remember, wheel seats are bad, mmkay?

  4. Here's a few pictures of the theater entrance and the show, all from 2001. If memory serves me right, there were a couple different Scooby-Doo themed shows that played in the theater. All pictures from vlad.net

  6. Maverick had it's fair share of downtime this past year (one of my best friends was one of the TL's there and I got a daily update lol). Millennium has it's fair share too.

  7. I'll ride beast in any seat and love it. Classic.

  8. @King Ding Dong you made me laugh as he ONLY rides in the left seat. So he has no idea how the right side feels. I'd say it likely feels as good as the left seat but I wouldn't know. Lol.

  9. That's for a reason. B&M is very cautious about its coasters, even hesitating and decling when asked to build new ones on occasion. The company wants to be known for reliability and uptime, not first tries and malfunctions. Sure Intamin isn't afraid to try new things but that can lead in a lot of downtime. Even Mack sticks to roughly the same concept and mechanics for most of its coasters.

  10. Your point? Pretty sure that helps The Beast stay untouched by RMC.

  11. Yes, do not do RMC to The Beast. It is a classic coaster. It is no where near as intense as what Storm Chaser or Outlaw Run. Those are fun rides, but you do need to take a breather after riding them, because they are quite intense.

  12. Cedar Fair most likely won't bring back intamin due to the big problems like for example: Shoot the Rapids, Maverick almost killing people before it opened, a cable fail on I305 the list goes on and on. I do agree that the turns are a little too intense, but I definetly would love a station like that where the coaster would fly through the building like that and have an indoor queue with a sciency type theme. It would fit in the Xbase area. Im wondering if b&m could try something like this (with not as many sharp turns) B&M could always try something new. They just haven't done it yet. Like not too many people thought they would be able to go over 300 feet and looky there! They did it with Leviathan! I want a giga to see how it changes the GP's view of Diamondback. A lot of them think Diamondback is the best thing ever (most of them are local people who probably haven't been to Cedar Point). While in line for Mystic this past summer I showed someone who was at the park with her children a picture of Fury 325 and said "How would you like something like this at KI" and she was like "That would be awesome."

  13. I wonder if you might not just be happier going on a Sunday? Crowds are a lot lighter. I say this because No Boo necklaces can't be used in mazes. And if you intend to skip the mazes it removes a lot of the reason to attend while Haunt is going on.

  14. Now to be honest that would be better because Panda would actually be an international food in the area themed to different cultures in one street. The mac n cheese bar was amazing and a better addition than Hanks is in my opinion. Smoke house, eh, I am actually leaning towards the hope of a build your own coney line in Coney Mall. You already have one Taco Bell outside the park, you don't need another inside the park! (Unless if it were to be KFC, which I would actually approve of)

  15. ^ Great idea. In addition they could make it an arcade for in between shows. Maybe add a bunch of these.

  16. That would be a bad idea, if anything your body should be loose and relaxed don't brace cause it will make it worse on you.

  18. I used to go in the mid to late 80s and nothing was too hard (young and bulletproof). When we started back in late 2014, I thought it was rough all the way through 2016. 2017, for whatever reason, seems to be better. I have learned to sit towards the front and not over the wheels (thanks @MDMC01 for the advice). I went from 1 a day to up to 3 a day.

  19. In my experience, do not do that. I really hurt my back (as a teenager) trying to ride it like that. I've found it's much less painful when you use your arms to brace yourself, but not your spine and core. Moral of the story: choose whichever riding style will work for you, because you know your body better than anyone can.

  20. I prefer the middle. It's difficult to get lapbar down though. The Beast is always going to have that wild side to its ride experience. Like, IndyGuy4KI said, it ran great last season. I never saw it closed or delayed (outside of weather) in my many trips to the park. If you want a smooth experience sit in the front row or sit towards the front in the middle of a car (you're off the wheel in the middle).

  22. Hello everyone! My new blog post is up: a complete history of the King Cobra, the world's first true stand-up roller coaster. Enjoy! http://kingsislandghosts.blogspot.com/2018/01/stand-up-thrills-story-behind-worlds.html

  24. My tolerance has dramatically changed since I had first started going to Kings Island. For life of me I don’t understand the complaints about The Racer or The Beast.

  25. The front seat is the best seat for any kind of jerkiness or roughness. More explicitly front left for the intensity of the helix is my go to seat on Beast anyways not to mention the several turns are great in that seat.

  26. I'll give it a try next time I ride it. For some reason, it's a natural reaction I have when I'm on coasters to tighten myself up to hold my body steady. Maybe this will make me enjoy them even more! I'm usually completely exhausted after a day of riding.

  27. Yeah i know lol i was just thinking a nice expansion of X-Base would be nice back there!!

  28. If they're planning on keeping the building, an in-and-out dark ride similar to Wonder Mountain's Guardian would be a good fit. Whether or not the park wants to overhaul a nearly 2 decade old building is another story. Compact dark rides are fun but operation costs are always a huge reason not to invest in them.

  33. X-Base or even Action Zone would work. KI kinda needs at least one coaster with a 90° drop. Even though I love them, the one issue I have with dive coasters is that they all have a very similar layout. Hopefully Canada's Wonderland will deliver something different.

  38. As much as I don't like seeing the big box in Rivertown, (including the Slaughthouse building) I don't see it going anywhere until they have a more useful purpose for it or its land.

  39. Man, I was a young feller the first time I rode KC. I was one of those kids that was always big for my age, so at the ripe age of 7 I got to ride coasters like KC and Vortex. I felt like a real bada** when I rode it for the first time. Such a sad story for that coaster!!

  40. KI is the park that was home to the oldest Capriro Batflyer which is no longer in operation. There is one that opened in 1997 that's still in operation according to RCDB. KI's opened in 1998. All of the others which are no longer in operation all opened around 2000 or later.

  45. Beast is pretty smooth these days, but any good wood coaster feels a little bit out of control IMO. It's called "Beast". If you want to sip a cup of tea along the way, apparently you missed about 50 signs in the queue line.

  46. The roughest and jerkiest part of the ride is when you exit the tunnel after your second time around the helix before heading to the break run. Other than that it's not that bad from what I have experienced.

  47. I thought Beast was running great last season. Beast is not rough in the right seat for me.
    1 point
  48. IMHO, The Beast is as smooth at is ever was (at least in my 30+ years of riding it). The smoothest seats should be in the middle row of each car as they don't sit directly over a wheel. Its not near as rough as SOB (again in my opinion). If you are 20, that means you were around 8 or 9 the last time SOB was operational, tough to make that comparison b/w a 9 year old body and a 20 year old body. At any rate, if you think its too rough, that just 1 less person in line ahead of me
