  1. Let me restate my last post. We are done with B&M vs Intamin. It adds nothing to this thread. Any further posts will be removed.

  2. Saw this on Facebook but the original source is unknown. I like this train theming a little bit better.

  9. I probably wouldn't be able to keep my cool in a situation like that. I generally don't say much if I see a phone but I'm going to start letting people know how dangerous it is and that it also can be a misdemeanor.

  10. No. That confirms TTD will be relocated to KI.

  11. Last weekend, I could see they were working over there, but the new building went very vertical within the past week. This is a quick snap I took before turning onto KI Drive off of Great Wolf Drive. You can see how far to the right the building is, it's really not part of the former resort area. It will be nice to have more lodging in the area tho.

  13. I have gotten off each manufacture and said wow. They're all different in various ways. We get it you don't like B&M. You dont need to constantly shove that fact down our throats in bolded letters. Just stop. We all have opinions just like you. You can't call something "bad" or a "snoozefest" when its clearly not. It's your opinion not a fact. Just because you like B&M doesn't mean they need to put in an Intamin giga. If they do put in a giga, they're going to pick the manufacture they believe is the best option for their park.

  14. I caught some kids placing pennies on the floor in front of us on the 1st lift hill on this once. After I yelled at them, they quickly put them up. I was all ready to confront some parents at the end of the ride, but none were there and the kids bolted rather quickly.

  17. Does it do any good for me to report this? Odds are, if they are doing it on one coaster, they will be doing on another. Again, I liken this to Smoking outside of the Smoking areas. If no one does anything about it, whats the point in having the rule? I am not trying to be difficult, just cautious.

  18. Usually, if we a see a phone out, when they come back into the station, we ask them to delete what they took. Mystic Shed has a camera so we can usually tell when someone recording so we always ask them to delete the picture or video right infront of us.

  22. Whether or not you were told otherwise, it is against park rules to have phones out on rides, especially coasters. We at KIC represent KI's biggest fans and expect you to abide the rule of the park no exceptions!

  23. It is a shame Michigan's Adventure doesn't get more love. It is a nice little park and deserves a nice coaster addition. Something small like Railblazer or Hangtime would be great there.

  24. ^I'd like all of those things, plus a second entrance/exit. I feel like the "dead end" quality is one of the biggest drawbacks to the area. I spend a good deal of my time at the park just walking. If lines are longer than I'm willing to wait in, I just circle around the park to find something else to interest me. Because X-Base is a dead end, I only go back there when I know I'm going to ride something which is almost always first thing in the morning when I know the lines haven't started to grow. The rest of the day I almost forget it exists.

  25. I find it funny that some here on KIC wanted different music throughout the park...themed even....then the park adds it and the response is...nah..not that. Beggers can't be choosers. We could be listening to Bieber throughout the park.

  26. Then Carowinds would have two snake themed coasters

  27. I get what you’re saying. It depends on the associate, but me, and most associates that work around me, care deeply about people smoking outside of the designated areas, as it affects us too. So please do report it to someone. As for electronic devices on rides, if we don’t see it, please do report it, and we will take the necessary steps to make sure the person doing it doesn’t do it again. 29. I believe Copperhead is going to be the "speculated" GCI that Carowinds may be getting. Also why have 2 snake themed coasters in one park? Isn't a Diamondback worse than a Copperhead anyway? Wouldn't make sense for a giga, at least not too me.

  30. Other than deleting the video, what else can be done / are you allowed to do? The darn thing about Mystic is I think it is a better ride in the back, and the not adrenaline rush of dodging a phone or camera.

  31. Correct, to quote Ohio Revised Code Chapter 1711.551, “[Rider must] Refrain from behaving or acting in any manner that may cause injury or contribute to injuring himself or other people while occupying an amusement ride” and also “Heed all written warnings and directions that require a person to meet certain conditions or to refrain from certain actions regarding an amusement ride, as determined by rule by the director of agriculture”. So technically bringing your phone out on a ride is breaking two laws as well as breaking park rules. You could get kicked out of the park or worse, prosecuted for the crime you committed. Don’t be stupid. Keep your phone restrained when you ride any ride at Kings Island. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  33. There were reports on reddit and other places that last week Twisted Timbers was removing kids that met the 48” height requirement but the restraint was not contacting their pelvis, apparently lots were kicked off. Saw another post that claimed an email response from the park said the ops got a little over zealous. Raising the height requirement may be a way of compensating for this. Just posts on-line so don’t know all the true facts. I was getting a bit concerned about Ryan because although he is 5’3” now he is super skinny and small boned. But if the ride isn’t safe, so be it. I don’t know what the lines are for TT, but a “walk of shame” for being to skinny after a long wait is not a good situation. So I hope this change adequately addresses the situation.

  34. The only one I think that is remotely possibly is your #1. But I wouldn't mind seeing some of what you stated come to fruition. But if it were up to me it would be something like this: 1) B&M Giga in Coney Mall or X-Base 2) Mack Multi Launch, but I would put my money on the new Vekoma "Top Gun" model. They actually look amazing. 3) RMC T-Rex, this only happens when Vortex is removed. Kings Island would then need a sit down looper. 4) S&S Steeplechase, now this would be an outrageous move. I'd put the S&S Steeplechase on the plot of land that BLSC sits on. That would be more fitting for the area than BLSC & would be an amazing family attraction. Then is get rid of Timberwolf and move BLSC over to that area of the park. I'd also rename and retheme BLSC to something different. 5) Gravity Group kids woodie, I liked the area where you wanted to put a family GCI, but I'd keep it local and put a Gravity Group woodie in like the one opening Seasame Place. Bonus) I wouldn't mind seeing the Sky Flyer removed from Action Zone and put in Oktoberfest to swing out over the lake like the one at Kennywood. Then I'd like to see a thrilling flat like SkyHawk at CP replace the Sky Flyer in Action Zone. Now I know most of what I stated will not happen. It's just something I'd like to see. It's fun to speculate and day dream from time to time, lol.

  38. Wife and I hung out at KI for a few hours today. Spent a good chunk of time just sitting on International Street and people watching. The music was GREAT. Noticed Dmitri Tiomkin “The High and the Mighty”, “Tara’s Theme” from Gone with the Wind, and the Angry Birds main theme. Good times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  39. Wife and I stopped by Coney BBQ today for lunch. Both had pulled pork sammiches (one with Mac, one with fries). PLENTY of food, and pretty TASTY! We both were impressed. I mean, the BBQ sauce is pretty standard, but the meat was tender and full of flavor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  40. **** ing idiots. Edit: The riders, not the ops. But I do wish security would do something about this. A good smackdown a couple of times (banning, charges, something) would spread quickly and MAYBE remove this idiocracy or at least lessen it.

  41. I’m looking for KIC’ers that will be at the park tomorrow (4/21). I will be doing some photography for the KI Blog and looking to get some shots of various food and treat options around the park. Of course I can’t buy all these options in one day, as I would not feel so good afterwards. LOL. So, I'm looking for people to allow me to get some photos of classic and new options at the park this year that they are purchasing. These photos will be highlighted in the offcial KI Blog sometime this season. If you are interested please send me a PM. I will be at the park prior to open until about 4pm. Thank you, Brian (OldSchool75)

  42. LOL, You mentioning that is worth me telling my story then..... I was with the wife and kids. They wanted to ride shake rattle and roll, and while they were riding, I noticed multiple nearly empty trains on Vortex, so I told my wife I was going to go for a ride on it. Walked on to a front seat ride, got off, went and walked onto Wind Seeker. I realized that there were empty trains leaving the station on Vortex, so I went back and jumped on again. Grabbed a middle seat so I could marathon it. After about 3 laps, that last loop into the corkscrew all the blood rushed to my head, and then in the helix was shoved quickly back out. I woke up on the brake run before the station and decided I should probably call it a night on my Vortex marathon. Got a great chuckle out of it, but I certainly supports the theory that people in lesser health could have a very bad experience with that.

  45. ^ My Overall Rivertown Theme Hypothesis: it's this small town with a Railroad and various shops, however, the town hides horrible secrets, note-ably with the Mining Company (Home to The Beast) and the Logging Company (Mystic Timbers & Its Shed). Based on one of the 3 shed endings (spoilers?) that Diamondback is a huge monster snake that escaped from the shed, and now also terrorizes the town. A river also runs through the woods which people can take raft rides on (White Water Canyon). Coney Mall is just a old fashioned amusement park, on the surface at least, featuring classic flat rides, old school roller coasters like Racer & Vortex, etc etc. They are also filming the car chase scene for a upcoming action movie here (Backlot Stunt Coaster), and they are looking for actors for that. However, hidden in a secret area behind The Racer, is X-Base, a government testing facility home to Hangar 18 (Flight of Fear) and its UFO, as well as a government machine to test human flight, known as Project Firehawk. Now, the other full areas I don't know/have not made up stories for, but based on the lore I have read/seen or made up, I can add at least some individual rides to the overall Kings Island storyline: Adventure Express: A railway designed to take government employees from near X-Base to Outpost 5, the other government base in the area where the Aircraft Carrier was located. However, the idiots building it made Track #2 go through a ancient forbidden temple, causing horrible things to happen on that track. Due to this, Track #2 has been closed for good, but somehow, on occasion (AKA every time you ride the coaster) the railway switches to Track #2, sending riders into the forbidden temple. Son of Beast: Yes, this ride is gone, but it's storyline is still connected in ways. Government Agents studying The Beast in Rivertown stumbled upon a cave, and there was a baby Beast inside. It is not known if the father Beast knew of his existence or not, but the Agents kidnapped the young creature and returned to Outpost 5, where the aircraft carrier was docked. This government base was also hidden, behind a well-known movie studio. In addition to studying the creature, the scientists at Outpost 5 decided to give steroids and growth hormones to it as well for research purposes, causing Son of Beast to grow incredibly massive and become very aggressive. The people in charge of Outpost 5 grew worried as Son of Beast kept attacking search vehicle after search vehicle, causing many injuries. They stopped giving him the steroids and neutered him, hoping he would become less aggressive, but it only marginally worked as Son of Beast continued to attack more search vehicles. Eventually, the General decided enough was enough and ordered Son of Beast to be killed. It took a while, and they say Son of Beast killed many of the soldiers trying to kill him, but eventually they did it. However, little did they know, this would be the undoing of Outpost 5! Banshee: When Son of Beast died, his blood soaked the ground. Little did most working there know, Outpost 5 was built on a former graveyard. With his last breath, Son of Beast wished vengeance on those who killed him. One of the spirits in the graveyard, known only as Banshee, heard Son of Beast's dying wish...and decided she would act upon it. The first of the loud screams was heard that very night. As days passed, mysterious things began to happen to the Soldiers, Scientists, and Agents: their drinks would turn into blood, their vehicles would randomly malfunction (sometimes even blowing up!), and they would have horrible nightmares and wake up screaming: "Banshee IS COMING! Banshee IS COMING!!!" Many soldiers, agents, and scientists quit their jobs and fled, but some remained. About 2 weeks later, the screams were heard again, but this time, Banshee herself appeared and began to terrorize and destroy the base! Since she is a ghost, bullets and bombs were useless against her. Nearly everyone either died, or ran away as fast as they could in pure terror. Banshee had taken over Outpost 5. She created a new tombstone for the fallen Son of Beast, with a flame atop it that is said to never go out. She also allowed a nearby Bat colony to overtake the army's aircraft carrier, and a pack of Werewolves were allowed to call the former Son of Beast search vehicle station home where they would not be persecuted by normal humans. The movie studio next door, unaware what had fully happened (they saw some explosions and heard the screams, but did not know the government base had been destroyed) remains in operation to this day, however, after Banshee took over Outpost 5 their hurricane-simulation prop, Delirium, changed colors mysteriously. The government has now abandoned Outpost 5, and has instead decided to focus its efforts on its studies in X-Base and Rivertown for the time being. And well, that's about all my Kings Island ride backstory head-canons. I really have nothing for I-Street other than it being a street with shops, probably in Paris, and Oktoberfest is just a small German Town, and Planet Snoopy is hard to make a backstory for that fits this overall storyline. I hope people enjoyed this story lore dump I came up with.

  46. Last season when I was in the park, I did multiple ride throughs on Vortex. Came back into the station, no one in line, I asked one of the girls that was checking restraints and she said no big deal, you can stay on until you're done, or someone is in your row. I think it may be a thing that some ride ops take very seriously, and others do not. Body count does make sense, and if you're staying on, it can throw off their count.

  47. On Beast's que & station: The old beat-up feel is actually what I think the station designers were going for back in 1979. The Beast's station is supposed to be this old, beat-up mill that no one has maintained for years because The Beast keeps scaring away anyone who would maintain it, thus it has fallen into disrepair, taken over by the creature. Now that the station and que are nearing 40+ years old, they have actually worn down and now fits the story behind the ride even better. It's not supposed to be clean and pretty. IMO as long as they are still safe (aka don't let the wood rot and someone fall from the station- replace it if needed) I am 100% fine with the run-down look. Beast actually has one of my favorite que's in the entire park, actually, since it matches its theme and backstory very well. Now, The Bat's que...yeah, I do agree on that one. The patriotic stuff does not really fit back there, but I do kinda see why the park has not removed it as someone would probably call them anti-American or something. I also kinda wish they had done more with the actual ride station, besides just rip all the lower deck aircraft carrier stuff out and call it a day, because it still kinda looks like a aircraft carrier to me. However, I have kinda come up with a story in my head that "explains" it a bit: when Banshee appeared in 2014, the spirit of The OG Bat came with her, and there was a aircraft carrier close by (TOP GUN/Flight Deck). The Bat, with its swarm of smaller bats, decided this would be their new home and chased all the soldiers and sailors away, so now you have a aircraft carrier filled with bats, docked in a abandoned secret government base. At least, that's the best theme I could come up with to explain why the patriotic stuff is still there and it still looks like a aircraft carrier, but is called The Bat.
