  2. I mean, all coasters have their hiccups the first few weeks, but a brake/block failure is a bit more on the serious side. I also don't get why RMC is changing up their rolling stock so often. Why can't they come up with a design they're comfortable with and stick with it?

  3. Who knows. I remember someone yelling at Cedar Point on Facebook last year for scaring their mother during Haunt while in a maze. That's what you're dealing with.

  5. Riding coasters in the rain with exposed skin can indeed be painful. I rode Maverick in moderate rain back in 2011. The rain hitting my face felt like a thousand needles.

  6. I saw an article posted on Facebook about this and naturally, there were comments saying, "See, this is why I don't ride rollercoasters." I'll say it multiple times, I feel a thousand times safer when I am on a rollercoaster than when I'm in a car.

  7. Seriously is Mr. Poopy Butthole any worse than Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo?

  8. I know this. I'm just reporting what they've served me. I did get the email for the VP of Food and Beverage. It's a fella named Mark BXXXX (last name redacted for obvious reasons). When I get the time, I'm going to send him the pictures I took and offer my impressions. I've eaten at Coney BBQ probably 12 times and there are many shortcomings in my opinion.

  9. The very tiniest possibility that someone is in charge at Cedar Point is secretly evil and wanted to anger their guests, not caring for how much money it could cost them. (I seriously doubt anyone at CP has this line of thought though- pretty sure they LOVE money.) And the fact almost nothing can be 100% guaranteed.

  11. the only problem to me of the magenta/blue combo is i feel it would be too similar to Banshee. I like green track since we don't have any coasters with that, and having it with brown supports to fit the forest would be great. I also think black tracks with a highlighted color could look really dynamic. Like a black base with the edges of the track matching the supports. The only issue I see is like the white supports it could be hard to keep looking new. the fading would be really obvious on it.

  14. Taco Bell at an amusement park sounds like bad juju. All the protein spills all the time. Nothing good can come from that.

  15. Loved Beavis and Butthead, still watch South Park and Simpsons on the regular. I'll have to check ye olde trusty interweb and see about this Rick and Morty.

  16. Agreed, if they are having to put bbq sauce on the brisket, then they should remove it all together

  17. Diamond back was down to two trains a little bit ago.. was the unfortunate one to get stuck on it waiting 20 minutes after the break down After that it was a good 15 minute wait with fast pass, regular line looked really long

  18. Yep, I think you are getting old. Unless Beavis and Butthead, The Simpson’s and South Park got your panties in a bunch 25 years ago. Then it’s just you. It’s Rick and Morty. The fanbase is so large is can throw McDonald’s Corporate in a into a tizzy. My kids watch it and so do 97% of college students. Fine, I get off your darn lawn.

  19. Good lord, BBQ sauce is the last thing brisket needs. That’s just sinful. Ribs sure, brisket, hell to the no! For food service situations where it sits out it needs to have some of its own fatty drippings drizzled over it. It needs to be sliced to order, the only way around that is to have the slices in a vat of juice and then it just starts falling apart unless one is very careful with it. Cant have a divider plate so the juice doesn’t soak your fries or slaw. I really hope our Chefs know better than this and the problem is the bean counters.

  20. Just fair warning, we just got the system here on the west side that's tracking to KI, and included with the rain is pea to chickpea size hail.

  21. I also attempted to show up at the 4:00 show and only caught about the last 10 minutes. Social media isn’t the best way to reach people who are already in the park. Why didn’t they do a push notification to the people within the geofence? However, what I did see was very fun and interactive. Something like that would be a good idea for the showplace as a regular show. Very cool way to be outside the box!

  22. Not a good look for RMC’s grand debut with Cedar Fair. I’m wondering if/how this will impact RMC’s reputation in the industry. This is obviously not their first time with issues at opening. I’m also curious to see if/how this impacts the public perception of Steel Vengeance - especially if more issues follow.

  23. I’m not sure I would want white supports. I view it similarly to a white car - it’ll get pretty dirty and not hard to keep looking “new.” Obviously there will be examples out there that could be used to prove me otherwise, but I would guess that is why we don’t see pure white often. I would think that with all of the woods, trees, dirt, etc... at Kings Island, it might look rough quickly. GateKeeper probably holds the white look better because it isn’t surrounded by trees, pollen, dirt, and the like.

  29. I have a request for those of you who are artsy. I would like 3 print outs of the coasters I have pegged as my likely 100th credit during my trip to PA and NJ. EDIT: Due to a slight miscalculation on getting admission tickets, it'll be at Knoebels, so either Phoenix or Twister. Just some ideas from me- use the actual logos, something that matches the coasters' color scheme, the number 100, maybe an image of the ride. Make them fit on a 8x11 piece of paper in landscape, something that'll show up well in a photo of me holding it. PM me if you've got something.

  30. http://coneyislandcentral.com/history/ I have received some great historical pictures from Coney in September of 1971, right before the park closed. These photos are courtesy of Paul Adams, and include many shots/angles that I have never seen before.

  32. When the park is short-staffed, rides are the number one priority. They will move staff from other departments to rides to ensure everything can operate. For weekdays in May, you can expect to see a number of merchandise shops and food locations closed, but I would be surprised to see a ride closed due to lack of staffing.

  33. I love the COSI Science and Explosions show that comes every year during Education Days. They've managed to make the explosion at the end even more exciting: I was planning to hold down the button to take a series of pics, but I was wrong about how quickly it was going to happen and hadn't started yet. I still managed to get a fairly perfect pic because I jumped and hit the button when it startled me If you happen to be in the park on an Education Day, be sure to check out this show! It's fun and you may even learn something

  37. Can I ask something? This isn't just for you either....anyone can answer. Why do you (or anyone) want the park to use the old SOB station for a new ride? What is so important about it that would make it need to happen? I highly highly doubt it'll ever be used again for a coaster for a couple of reasons: 1- It'd have to be retrofitted for a new coaster...where the track goes, would have to be altered significantly depending on the type, the air gates would have to be re-installed and likely the mechanics and entirely new safety features. Not to mention the cost to renovate would likely cost more than a brand new station. 2- the clearance envelope...while most don't see it, there has to be a certain amount of clearance from The Bat and Banshee.

  38. I really like Dorney's water park but they don't have that many "special" type of slides. Just the standard inner tube and body slides, a clone of Tropical Plunge, family raft slide, 2 lazy rivers and 2 wave pools. Not counting identical slides, like only counting the 2 speed slides as 1 slide, they have 22 slides. Hershey's water park is really small, a water play area (all ages allowed with some full size slides), a kids play area, 3 inner tube slides, Tornado, bowl slide, 2 person inner tube slide, lazy river, wave pool, Flow Rider and splash ground plus the new slides. It's the only water park I have been to with an actual queue for the wave pool. Superman's restraints tighten up after they lock so the vest has no slack. Neither ride has a lot of support in the vest but I find Joker more comfortable. If you like science museums The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia is fun. There is also the historical sites in Philadelphia like the Liberty Bell and Independece Hall. I wish I had more to suggest but even living over 90% of my life near Philadelphia, I rarely went into the city except for sporting events and an occasional museum visit.

  39. I'm kind of working out what I'm going to do on my off day, and one thing I'm considering along with visiting downtown Philly and/or cruising through Allentown is doing either HP's or DP's water park. I plan on leaving Erie pretty early so I can get to Allentown in the early afternoon. Thoughts on both? I know HP's is getting new slides this year, but DP is closer to where I'm staying and wouldn't involve paying extra for admission. Any other suggestions of neat things to do would be welcome, preferably within an 45-60 minutes of Allentown. I'm not doing Gettysburg since I've been there twice with my family already. Oh, and what are the restraints like on Superman: Ultimate Flight and Joker? I'm particularly concerned if there's anything solid that you lay your stomach against. I'll have to ride them early if its too odd (has to do with my medical condition, I'll probably get both early anyhow due to their low capacity and Joker being a spinning coaster).

  40. It's very rare, almost 170 trips to the park since 2007 and I have never seen it happen even in cooler weather where it is around 40 degrees. The ride operators really try to make sure each train is almost full and on slow days will wait to load a train until there are enough people in the station which I guess also hurts the chances of a rollback.

  41. BTW, how likely are rollbacks on Kingda Ka? Its kind of an abstract goal of mine to get a rollback on either TTD or Kingda Ka.

  42. Personal mobility devices are allowed into the park, though there may be safety restrictions in certain areas. A frequent guest of Cedar Point, affectionately known among enthusiasts as Mr. Segway, is known to use one to get around the park. Echoing teenageninja, definitely call in advance and stop at Guest Services upon arrival. Segways used for recreation wouldn't be allowed into the park.

  43. From personal experience, both times I've been to HP were within 1-2 days of July 4th and I didn't have much of a problem; as in, 15-20 minute waits for Storm Runner and Fahrenheit, 10 for Comet and Great Bear, and the rest walk on-5 minutes. NJFTP, though, sounds like a bad idea then. I may keep the original schedule as well. I'm seeing that's the week all the parks in this trip up their hours (the week before the 4th). However, I won't push it to August because then heat becomes an issue with me.

  44. So my concert schedule came out, and there are concert dates earlier in June than usual, so I'm thinking between 3 options- June 15-20 and miss 1 concert (one of the smaller venues) or the original schedule, June 22-27, miss 1 concert at a slightly bigger venue or July 6-11 -wouldn't miss any concerts, but I feel July is generally a busier month for amusement parks, though, parks usually have longer hours in July. I'll think it over after exams. Am I overthinking the difference between months? I'm particularly centering that line of thought with HP and NJFTP. As of right now after initially sorting this out, I'm leaning for the mid-June trip.
