  1. Because some people like to jump to conclusions.

  2. How did we get to the removal of rides when this could be simple as replacing existing lines?

  3. Hope you're not trying to make friends with @homestar92 I don't see Gemini leaving any time in the foreseeable future. It's a classic that help put Cedar Point on the map, and it's still a great stepping stone between small coasters and big coasters. It's also a capacity machine, important at a park that packs crowds like Cedar Point can.

  6. Daniel, key word there "indicate" not truth. It not good for enthusiast and coaster sites to see a few flags in the grass (which is probably just normal electrical maintenance) and start leading their members and followers to thinking that means heavy construction and possible moving rides to a different park. When happens to your claims when it turns out to not be true?

  9. I finally rode Steel Vengeance on Friday, and it's an amazing ride that starts out great and only gets better. The ending rivals that of The Beast, twisting through the structure during the second half of the ride for headchoppers galore. It's best experienced at night with the full lighting package. I'm a big fan of the smaller RMC coasters for their raw intensity. Steel Vengeance doesn't quite match the violent ejector airtime on Wicked Cyclone, for instance, but it more than makes up for it with good pacing, abundance of airtime, and sheer variety of elements. It's definitely among my favorite coasters already, despite only having two rides thus far. For those looking to take a last ride at the end of the night, get there early. Lines for major rides are apparently now closing with the park, rather than 8 minutes later as was previously the case. We were held back by a train leaving the Frontiertown station until 10:01pm, causing those of us waiting on the gate to open to miss the final ride.

  11. 90 degrees Sunday, and DB's seats were not hot. Just like every other coaster in the park.

  12. I was extremely excited for the Indy combo deal! My wife and I were initially talking about going and had a couple possible days picked out. Then I found out one of those days would be free for me as a paramedic. Then we discovered the Indy deal but they were all sold out at Kroger. Then I saw that it was available online! I wasn't thrilled about the extra 5.99 in processing fee, but it's still an incredible deal with parking and drinks included! We threw on an all-day meal plan that we'll share and can't wait to go Wednesday. Now if the weather would cooperate...

  14. ^Last year, they kept hope alive and really put in the effort to make sure we got as much of our late ERT as was safely possible. It would have been so easy to say "this storm isn't blowing over, ERT is cancelled, go home" but instead everyone stuck around and quickly got the rides moving again as soon as lightning left the area. Those rides were even sweeter after the forced rest and worry it might not clear. It was even fun for everyone to be collected in the Festhaus while the storm was raging outside. I've heard Don Helbig tried hard that evening to find the episodes of Brady Bunch and Partridge Family that were filmed at KI, to show on the screen in there, but was unable on such short notice. I hope he comes prepared this year, just in case

  15. Disappointing day for food. Lines incredibly long, Park was busy but there were also widespread register issues. Waited until 8:00, went to Coney Skyline. Employee standing out front telling people they were out of chili. Went to Street Skyline, line pouring out the door. Punt on Skyline. I go to Panda. Line is shorter. I noticed that the menu options are VERY limited this year. I guess it didn’t matter since all they had was orange chicken left. Waited in line for my orange chicken. Informed by employees that their drink machine was “broken” and they could only serve water. Water was room temperature and there is no ice in either machine. We get our food and go to the Express drink line on the other side of the Festhaus. Huge line for drink refills because of the register problems (it’s taking forever to pull peoples’ food and drink plans up when scanning the passes, from what I understand). The employee just gives up and lets everyone in the exit. Of course - no ice here either. Coke wasn’t working, so you had to choose another soft drink. No biggie, but still... 9:55 rolls around. We head to I-Street to watch the fireworks. Another member of my party decides to go to LaRosa’s, barely before they lock the doors promptly at 10:00 (remember when all of I-Street stayed open until the park cleared, you know - like the shops STILL do?) Anyway, LaRosa’s annouces that they had run out of bread sticks. Yep. They sell exactly two products there: pizza and breadsticks and they couldn’t manage to keep one of the two going. Did they offer anything else in exchange? Nope. Dining plan or cash - you got two slices of pizza, no breadsticks (as advertised). Should I have spoken to guest services about this? Sure, but what’s the point? Clearly the leadership either doesn’t care or is not competent enough to fix these problems. I understand that change takes time, but food quality, service, selection, and availability has been an ongoing problem for well over 3 years now. Many within the park attempt to discredit me at times when I am critical, however I think enough of you know that I am both involved and in tune with this industry as a business that I can tell you that parks the size of Kings Island are typically on point with predictions of attendance, demand, and material/labor needs. To write this off as “they didn’t know they’d be this busy” is simply out of the question. All of these problems are either indicative of poor planning, or a wreckless oversight that should not be acceptable in this scale of operation. I’ll be the first to admit that there have been a lot of steps in the right direction, but how long can they last? I have known Chef Nathan for a long time now. I both admire and respect him. I also got to meet Chef Major. He has a resume’ that anyone would fight to have on their team. How long are these guys going to stick around if their reputations are at the mercy of Kings Island’s food department? I personally know several members of management that have left because they wanted to make the department the best it could be, but felt as though they were powerless to affect change. I understand that this is over all an extreme case, but nothing I’ve listed here is unheard of. All of the employees I dealt with were very polite and I think they really tried. Where is the disconnect? What would it take to fix this?

  19. I was so concerned about rain, did nothing (though it looked borderline during the 1 o clock hour). I certainly was able to do everything in one day. I sorta see the tradeoff going this time of year more, I got to ride the rides a ton but no shows for me to just sit back and relax and enjoy. One more day, I am now hoping it sorta rains for a period so at least I'll get a break from the sun and I get ride to coasters as water rides. My skin being from the northern side of the state is not ready for this heat yet. I like Mystic Timbers, The Beast, Banshee, Backlot Stunt Coaster. Drop Tower. But to no surprise for me I like Diamondback the best.

  20. Banshee isn’t the only coaster that has a rattle, Diamondback does as well. Raptor at CP has rattled before. I’ve even experienced a rattle on Maverick before. It’s lilely the wheels, it’s not specific to Banshee because it has new restraints.

  27. For the umpteenth time , the coaster wars of the late 1970's through early 2000's were pretty much dead once SIX filed for bankruptcy. It's not a thing anymore. CP couldn't care less what happens in Valencia, CA. Kinzel isn't involved anymore, that mindset is gone.

  28. I agree 100%. I feel like only a small portion of people opt for the diet mango peach Mello Yello Zero, while the others spend 4x as long trying to figure out how to get a Coke.

  33. It is as awesome as you think!! 3 rides on mystic and two on DB before 10:30. Can't beat it, now if the line for food was as short, that would be truely awesome. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

  34. One of these years I'm going to find a way to get off work for a day during this 2 weekday stretch that school is in session and the park is open all day. Looking at the webcams and seeing DB as a walkup is just so tempting, lol.

  36. Oh yeah I know about the fireworks but that is at 945, this was 925 and it was the raccoon that it was shut down. I just found it funny that the ride ops from beast walked us over and spoke with the ride op, but he still swore it was the fireworks. If that was the case we never would have gotten right on the train when there were many people waiting to get on. Yes they did, I think because I had a ride pass and had waited 45 minutes to ride, we didn't ask for the ride to be shut down or to be walked to another ride, that's what they offered us and that once we were done at mystic to come check and see if beast was back up and when it was we would get right on. We did check back but it wasn't going to be back up until 1045 at the earliest because of the fireworks and the raccoon, we couldn't wait as we had a 2 hr drive home and dogs to take care of.

  37. Is that hours per train or total hours? If its per train then one could operate for Haunt and the other for Winterfest.

  39. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rattle from what I understand is not from the steel, but from the wheels.

  40. I love B&M rides but I just don't understand how it is "ok" for a brand new ride to be rattling like it does and did on its opening season. Especially with B&M's reputation for silky smooth rides I don't get how they have not been asked to fix it..... It boggles my mind how I can go to Busch Gardens and ride Kumba which was their first sit down coaster and built in 1993 (the same year as The Bat) and have a perfectly smooth and awesome ride on it and now this is how many years and coasters later and Banshee rattles uncomfortably.... Seems to me like their engineering has gone backwards.

  41. And people keep asking me why I haven't bothered with a getting a meal plan. I'm not incentivizing bad food department quality. Sounds like the Skylines are extremely understaffed if they're running out of chili (or mismanaged when it comes to stock). Our kitchen guy is in charge of spaghetti and chili (and some other hot food that the KI Skylines don't offer). Though, we do have table people actually go back to bring chili out. We usually cook enough chili at the beginning of the shifts to cover them, and spaghetti is cooked around the clock (at least, proportionate to how busy we are at the time). I hope KI has workers that focus on that at the Skylines. Just be glad the Skylines at the park don't offer the full menu because THEN it would a real nightmare. I wouldn't trust the park with making wraps, chilitos and deluxes in an efficient manner.

  42. Does anyone know which version of Breakdance CF bought? KK has a Breakdance No. 3 I believe which is slanted in every direction as opposed to a flat platform that is tilted. A Breakdance No. 2 could work at KI with its high capacity and higher speeds than other models. I will say after working the one at KK, they are kind of a pain to load/unload as you have to release each individual bar as opposed to a universal release button.
