  14. As a big guy myself I can tell you it depends on the ride as restraints are different. I am similar to your specs but as a male we carry it differently. Some rides, especially with overhead restraints, can cause women with larger chests problems, sometimes it is the belly that causes problems. The two that are in general the toughest for people are Drop Tower and Flight of Fear. Row 4 on Banshee has some larger restraints. In general, I think women have an easier time than men becuase we carry most in the gut but women carry weight more distributed. As long as you are fine with allowing the ride ops to do what we call “stapling” (giving a good push on the restraints) I suspect you will be fine on most rides. It may be a little tight but you will still have fun. Bulky and restrictive clothing can cause problems as well so I wouldn’t recommend jeans. One trick I use is to pick your row based on the ride op that is working the rows. The 200lb 6’ 2” male ride op is likely going to be able to staple you better than the 100lb 5’ 3” female op.

  15. ^ You'd really like Wicked Cyclone. Steel Vengeance is great for what it is. Building them bigger is what Cedar Point does. For fans of pure intensity, bigger isn't always better.

  16. @Tera Ryzing, you obviously need a bit of a history lesson on why US parks avoid Intamin. http://rec.roller-coaster.narkive.com/wnY2sKrx/bizarre-quote-from-sandor-kernacs-of-intamin-on-the-sros-accident http://www.thebatavian.com/howard-owens/final-sheriffs-office-report-death-dariens-ride-steel-contains-new-details/27870 Rewind a bit to 2011. Darien Lake's Ride of Steel ejected a rider that had a prosthetic leg. Obviously, there was neglect from the ride operators' point of view, but Intamin also released a statement regarding the incident. Sandor Kernacs, then Intamin's US president, said that "accidents can't be avoided" and even went further to ask "the question is, what number is acceptable?" That's a big red flag for any park. It suggests that Intamin goes about its innovations and pushing of the envelope without thinking about safety. Add to that all the incidents such as broken cables, redesigns, and more accidents thereafter, and US parks simply lost Intamin's trust. Intamin hasn't once redacted their statement and instead of trying to get back into the US market, they stick with their line of thought and are focused on overseas projects. Would I like to see Intamin make a comeback? Sure. They have some cool things in their ride designs. I certainly like a lot of the coasters from them that I've ridden. But, only with a new focus on safety in addition to whatever innovations they come up with. If CF goes with another Intamin, it hopefully means Intamin has turned that corner and I would be excited for what they bring to the table. Competition is a good thing in the industry. If not, well, they only have themselves to blame.

  17. I would prefer B&M due to the better reliability, since a ride is no fun if it's down every time you try to ride it (see @King Ding Dong's ongoing battle with WindSeeker), but I'll take the giga either way. After all, we're just begging for a giga, and beggars can't be choosers. That said, Cedar Fair's issues with Intamin are well-known, and their resulting lack of any recent projects with Intamin speaks volumes as to which manufacturer is more likely to be used for a KI giga.

  18. On Wednesday my wife and I made the trip from Indy for a day at Kings Island. I took advantage of the first responders week free admission and we got a ticket for her that included parking and a drink wristband all for $40. We hoped that going on a weekday in May would pay off with low crowds, and it certainly did. We didn't wait any longer than 10 minutes for any ride, and even then it was usually because we waited for a specific row when there were several empty rows in the middle. Rather than go chronologically I'll just do some bullet point highlights/lowlights from the day. - This was my third visit to KI overall, and first since opening day last year. I only went then because I won tickets. We didn't get to ride much then but we did get to ride The Beast at night for the first time. Unfortunately there would be no night rides this time because of the 8 PM closing time. - We were there at opening and went to Diamondback first. Unfortunately for the early entry folks, it was only just testing as we approached. We were on the third train of the day and went right back around for a second ride. We ended up getting double digit rides here throughout the day, including 3 in a row in the last ten minutes before closing. This is my favorite coaster in the park, especially from back row. - On opening day last year we waited a combined 4.5 hours for two rides on Mystic Timbers. Combine that with the shed thing being waaaay overhyped, and it was hard to fairly judge this ride. This year, we got double digit rides on it, and it was fantastic. We rode several times in both back and front and loved both. I was pleasantly surprised at all the airtime you get in front. The first drop is better from back though. This ride never lets up and feels so fast. This is easily my #2 in the park now. - I was a bit let down by some of the other coasters I've enjoyed before. Banshee and The Beast were somewhat underwhelming to me. The Beast has a great setting in the woods but after the first drop and hill after that it was kinda boring until the double helix. I wish I could've ridden at night again. Banshee has a lot of force but that's not what I really enjoy in a coaster. The roll towards the end was much better from toward the back than from the front. - I had a first ever coaster experience--I rode Vortex by myself, and I mean literally. I remembered it being pretty rough from a few years ago. I asked the ride op which seat was best and he said front. He didn't seem confident at all but I still went up there. It was so quiet that it felt like I was in a POV video. It wasn't terribly rough in front but was also kinda boring. - I skipped Firehawk and FoF because I didn't really enjoy either one when I rode them previously. - Racer would be a great coaster if it wasn't so rough. I love all the airtime hills but after just a couple of them I felt like I needed cervical and lumbar decompression. It was really unpleasant. - I rode Backlot Stunt Coaster for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't realize it launched at the start. It had one really good airtime moment and I did not expect the dark area to last so long. I would definitely ride this again. - I went up the Eiffel Tower for the first time because we had so much time. I wish it had been a clearer day but it was still a great view all around. Overall this was my best amusement park experience when considering the value we got for admission, parking, drinks and the all-day meal plan, and how much we were able to ride. I was bummed that I didn't enjoy some rides as much as I had on previous visits and that we wouldn't get a night ride, but at the same time I was glad it enabled us to just ride DB and MT over and over again, especially since they're right next to each other.

  27. I honestly don't think you are going to have issues, I see many women a lot bigger that fit on the rides. As someone else said, Drop Tower might not fit, my husband last year didn't fit but we've been going to the gym and he fits with help. Last night I saw a lot of women that looked a lot heavier than you fit on the rides. Remember your boyfriend loves you and I highly doubt he would make you feel humiliated. I think KI is much more weight friendly than say Cedar Point. We were up there this week and even with working out my husband still didn't fit in wicked twister. I commend you that you are working on losing it, I'm right there with you. I was told when I first started going to the gym to have patience, it takes time and it does, but it really pays off. I hope you have a wonderful time at KI, I know you will, it's an awesome place!

  28. Thank you so much! I am still pretty nervous, but we will see what comes of it I suppose. I have been dieting and working out for several months, because I knew this was going to be an approaching thing. Lol! I'm really just worried about being humiliated in front of my boyfriend. We've only been together 6 months... and if he's paying all this money for us to go have a fun weekend, then I don't fit, I will be mortified. I appreciate your feedback! Wish me luck.

  33. New this year CP has all day roaming lockers for $10. The hitch being you must move your stuff at least every 3 hours or be charged $1/hour over the 3. There doesn’t appear to be a hardware change, just added functionality to the kiosks. Has this been implemented at KI? I generally don’t use lockers but there are times when they would be nice to have especially on days with variable weather conditions when you want to shed/add layers or rain gear. Photographers would especially be interest in one. If KI implemented this not sure that I would switch back to souvenir cups but it sure makes them more convenient than they were.

  35. On the topic of coaster removal, I'd say Mine Ride as it takes up a lot of land. Also, Corkscrew is iconic as it his those corkscrews over the midway; even if it's painful to ride, it is cool to watch. Also, the only things I can think of CP not having are a Flying Coaster, a modern Wooden Coaster, or a Wild Mouse.

  44. Thank you for trying to accommodate us Green sheet people! Vortex is one ride I cannot do, it's just too rough on my body. I truly wish other coasters did what you do, I suspect that some operators do because this doesn't happen every ride, just usually at least once a visit. I truly am not trying to start anything by requesting front row. During winterfest in fact they wanted to give us front row on Mystic Timbers and I freaked out, I was like no, just the middle please. Same with Beast, I want row 4 or 5 as it was less rough. Now that I've gotten to really like both coasters I've gotten brave and like trying front row, but honestly if I was told no I would be fine with that as long as it wasn't the very back. Diamondback I never rode in the back til a KIC member talked me into it, I liked the pull down the first hill. But I admit I like front row better on that and Banshee. I'm pretty easy going and would never cause a stink about a certain row. It seems to be me like the operators try to be very accommodating which I do appreciate. Yesterday we did Firehawk for the first time this season. When we got up to the boarding area, the operator Brett asked us where we wanted to be, we said oh wherever, he said how about front row. I said well I've never been in the front, he said well than you need to do it. He was so friendly and nice, I did it once but I'm not a huge fan of this coaster so when I do ride again I'm fine with wherever. Thank you to all the kind KI operators that really go out of their way to be accommodating, I for one truly appreciate it.

  45. When I help guests with green sheets, I always ask what row they prefer (especially since many who ride Vortex often prefer a certain row/car on the train). Some request a specific row so I save that row for them on one of the next trains, while others say they are fine with any row. And when we save rows, we ask the guests next in line for those rows if they are okay with waiting an extra train and explain that we are saving these rows for guests who are unable to wait in the regular line but have waited the same amount of time, and generally they are okay with it. The only time I had a problem saving a seat was when the guests in line for that seat were with a larger group who wanted to ride all together, but it all worked out and we instead saved the row on the train after theirs. Green sheets at WindSeeker are a breeze (pun somewhat intended ), as all we do there is assign as many seats as we need to that party and then assign seats to the guests in line as usual. From what I've seen at Vortex, the guests in line there usually don't mind green sheets/Parent Swap guests who need a row saved. But I do understand that guests waiting in the regular line at other popular rides (e.g. Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, Banshee) may feel upset about those admitted to the ride through the exit. I'm sorry for those of you who use green sheets and have encountered upset guests in line. I wish you did not have to deal with this.

  46. We are always asked which row we want and usually always do front row, we've never been told we cant. Why would you get upset if it's front row? I'm sorry but I have a real problem with this. We wait just as long as you do, it's not special treatment. In fact I wish I was "normal" and didn't have to do the ride pass for this very reason. It is quite upsetting that people cannot understand about people with challenges or disabilities. I would give anything to be able to stand in the normal line and not have people verbally attack me or give me dirty looks. I guess people don't understand unless they've been in our shoes. I will say it one more time, we wait just as long as everyone else, we just are sitting on a bench somewhere til our time. I apologise if anyone gets upset with my comment but this is a very real and upsetting situation for me.

  47. This is exactly what I just started a new post about, here's what I wrote.... Looking for some advice, as this seems to be happening every time we go to the park. I am on disability due to a serious auto accident, I have a hip injury that makes it difficult to walk but more so standing in lines. I utilize the ride pass (the green sheets) as that's the only way I can really do the park. I walk with a limp at times but evidently people don't see that. It never fails that when we go to board a ride we get dirty looks from people as they think we cut the line, which is false, we wait just as long, just not in line. Yesterday it was really bad at Diamondback, these two females, probably in their late 30s, so not kids, got visibally upset when we got the back row on the train. My husband saw that i was upset and tried to tell them we did not cut the line, they actually started arguing with him, which just made me feel worse. He asked the ride operator if she could please explain to them what the situation was, but I don't think that ever happened. This seems to just happen every trip. I ignore the teens and their ignorant comments but this one really got to me. I doubt there's anything we can do but curious what others in this situation Green sheets are definitely not parent swap, I think those are white. I wish there was a way for the park to communicate what this is, as people are always ****ed when my husband and I board, doesn't matter that I usually walk with a limp and that it takes me more time to board. I try not to judge but I do think some people have learned of this program and take advantage of it, but that's society. And yes I wait just as long as the regular lines.
