  1. I may have a dark sense of humor, but when I noticed the giant "firecrackers" in this display in the window of Convenience Corner, I laughed. I'm sure it's been there all July. Please, nobody report it as suspicious.

  2. Coaster - Yay! Theme - Yuk Chances are the coaster will long outlast the NFL licensing. My mind recalls how "Dale Earnhardt's Intimidator 305" is now just referred to by KD as simply "Intimidator 305."

  3. Wow, this thread brings back memories! Since this thread we gained Banshee and MT. We beat CP in the wood coaster collection. We still do not have an Intamin like Maverick, which I would like to see as much if not more than a giga.

  4. I finally tried the option of getting three sides instead of one meat and one side at Coney BBQ yesterday. I'll admit, I was expecting some confusion or hassle, but the young woman working the line knew what I meant, and the young man at the cash register didn't question it (although, to be fair, he had apparently had to ask his supervisor how to ring up my friend who had already gone through with his three sides, but it was his first day on the register). All season I've wanted to try other sides, but been unwilling to give up my beloved baked sweet potato. Seriously, I have gotten one meal (with sweet potato) for at least 25 of my 32 visits so far this season. That's how much I love it. So I was excited when I heard 3 sides on dining was an option but I waited a bit to try it because there were some interesting meats (like blueberry sausage, which was really good) and I was just worried it would be a hassle. I got a sweet potato (obvs), and corn on the cob and collard greens. I was pleasantly surprised by the corn, because it seems like every time I've got corn on the cob at a restaurant it has been frozen. I don't know if they're using local corn or not, but it was definitely fresh. Also, it's my first time ever trying collard greens, although I've wanted to. These were really good, with lots of bacon, and a nice amount of spicy BBQ flavoring.

  5. 5-1 or further, preferably 7-1 or keep walking. Sorry BFF! Still one of my favorite drops in the park.

  6. The policy will annoy lots of enthusiasts who know how to use zipper pockets, myself included. Beats taking someone else's phone at 70mph, though! I suspect that this will deter some people from riding, faced with the prospect of going screen-free for 90+ minutes.

  7. That is a much, much better use of the colors black and yellow.

  8. I can completely understand why this rule was put in place. Getting hit by a phone at 70 miles an hour would not be very pleasant. It’s a shame that a few people who chose to not follow the rules caused this to be put in place. Our society today has gotten so dependent on having cell phones. And I’m not afraid to admit that I spend a lot of time on my phone every day. But I would never ever pull my phone out while on a ride. It’s just not worth possibly losing it or injuring somebody. If I were ever hit by a phone on a ride, I would want the person to be held liable and suffer the consequences. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Why ban phones and not other items??? If I put my keys in my pocket and they come out, I've got 4 keys, a fob, and a screw-lock carabiner... That's not exactly gonna enhance the ride experience of whomever it hits...

  10. You mean me? If so, you are correct! I love how aggressive it is, even though I’m still not a fan of the headbanging. Also the theme and color scheme helps a lot too!

  11. I will never, ever pay for a locker just to ride a roller coaster. If there is not a free locker system (like Universal) or a non-rider in the group that I can leave my phone with, then I will be that non-rider, even if it means not getting the credit. What about people who have a job where they are on call 24/7 and are required by their employer to be able to answer their phone immediately or return any missed call within X minutes, regardless of what they are doing? I know at least one person bound to a requirement like that. Such people are now essentially banned from Steel Vengeance. Ridiculous.

  12. In a response to Kennywood. I give you the " Bengal Shuffle" It shuffles between 2 colors of track. I don't like the Bengals at all but since I am from Ohio and cannot stand the state of Pennsylvania ( Sorry if there is any one from there here). I had to respond quickly and swiftly. The Bengal Shuffle. Go Dolphins!

  20. Cedar Point recently announced that you are no longer allowed to take cell phones on to Steel Vengeance, even if they are secured in a pocket. You are also no longer allowed to take cell phones in line with you. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Coney has exciting things in store for the 2018 season. In addition to the previously announced temporary attraction, the Island Wheel (more info on that here) there are many exciting changes coming to the park. To make room for some of these additions, one attraction had to be retired. The Como Cruisers have officially been retired. Taking up residence in their spot on Lake Como will be Storybook Pedal boats. Swans and Dragons pedal boats will now call Lake Como home. There is more that is new in 2018. The Mini Golf Course has been renovated, and features recreations of 9 Cincinnati landmarks. Additionally, the Python roller coaster is receiving a new paint job and some theming. Check out this rendering: Additionally, Coney has partnered with ThinkTV Network and CET Public Television to create a “beyond broadcast” experience that incorporates popular PBS Kids characters with a “play and learn” environment. Included will be interactives that have been chosen specifically to align with the PBS Kids mission of building imagination and curiosity. Starting with the new PBS Kids Backyard, a playground area for kids to climb, slide, play and learn. When it’s time to cool down or calm down, parents and kids can head to the new PBS Kids Quiet Time area. PBS Kids Quiet Time area allows moms and their little ones a cool quiet place to step away from the sun and crowds for a needed break. The room is equipped with two private breastfeeding stations, changing tables, private restroom, and a quiet space for kids to relax. This new space is equipped with PBS Kids “quiet time” videos to aid in calming little ones and perhaps help foster nap time. In addition to the changes to the Python, several rides at Coney are getting new 3d ride signage from Kingdom Productions. Read more and see more photos here. Below is just one sample image of the new sign for the kiddie airplane ride, now called Flying Aces. Find out more information on Coney Island by logging onto their website at www.coneyislandpark.com or checking out their Facebook page.

  22. iPod Touch can connect to park wifi to FB live your POV ride As for now your Pet Rock is allowed lol. Actually until they figure it out, similar to KD, unless you have your phone out going into the line or they see it out in the line it can probably be in your pocket. I guess we will need to see if anyone at CP reports back how they are actually enforcing. I believe right now it is self policing like most the other rules...

  23. Too bad on the Twisted Timbers incident the dude got his cell phone back and walked away before anyone got his name, etc...hard for him to be held personally liable...

  24. And the Big Red Machine was before cell phones so we don't have to worry about them on this ride Butterfly collars and bell bottoms optional, disco music required LOL Any who, in a little over a year, we will find out the day before National Roller Coaster day that Orion takes the place of Firehawk and will be marketed as a 300 foot drop (KI giga lol) and be 5,321 feet long with X-Base becoming Area 72

  25. I like that they are trying to prevent someone from being injured but come on. This is ridiculous I know how to secure my phone in a zipped pocket. My biggest grip about it is if there is a emergency back home with my son or something of that nature. I would hate to be in line for 2 hours when I could be needed for a potential emergency.

  26. Cedar Point has a roaming ride locker rental this season for ~$10, which is sure to become a lot more popular now. The locker bank at Magnum was sold out by the evening of my last visit, when the park was only moderately busy. I suspect that there will be a line to rent a ride locker at SV on many days. In an ideal world, this policy would come with a single rider line.

  27. Oh it will get there...give them time...they are also trying to enforce something similar at KD Twisted Timbers... Let's face it we all knew this was a possibility thanks to a few people not following the rules. And if violations still occur, metal detectors at rides will be next...

  28. TBH, me too- I would love it if Kings Island got a ride like that, in the former Dinosaurs Alive! area. Keep as many trees as possible, and do like The Beast and actually hide most of the ride from the views of the midways, save the lift hill (which would be around the same size, maybe just a bit larger than Maverick's hill). And of course, have a mid-course launch inside a tunnel just like Maverick has. Hidden by the trees and terrain, the twists and turns would seem to come from nowhere and be unpredictable, especially at night. If Intamin is off the table, maybe Mack could even create a coaster like this. The other coaster I would like KI to get even more than a Giga would be massive, 200'+ ground up RMC coaster. This would not be easy to hide like the Blitz, but it would give Kings Island a towering 200'+ wooden structure once again after the demise of Son of Beast, and this one would probably be a far superior ride. Not to mention if it was anything like Steel Vengeance in terms of ejector airtime, there would be TONS of it. None of the rides at Kings Island really have super strong airtime like that, so this would easily fill that hole. A Giga would be my #3 pick though, and from a marketing standpoint, seems like the obvious choice for the park to make- you go above 300 feet, and the GP come running. Due to their super-high capacity and reliability, B&M would be the obvious go-to for this. All 3 would easily be world-class, epic rides IMO though.

  29. ^^Would that have a huge plaza similar to what Steel Curtain will where it has activities and a shop themed after the team? Tonight's concept ties on to a similar thing to what Kennywood is doing with Steel Curtain where it would have activities and stuff themed to the team. But, instead of football, it'd be for the Reds. The plaza would have kids baseball activities including Reds themed midway games, an indoor play area, and would have a giant team shop and on the outside would have giant TV's on the building that would play Reds games when they play during the day. When the Reds games are not on, the TVs would play ESPN on it. I know that stuff isn't in the picture because it's hard to draw, but I hope you get the picture. I give you The Big Red Machine along with Reds Country!

  31. Wow! reading those comparisons is hilarious! haha Those coaster at CP and AE at KI are steel because the track is fully steel. Man where do these kids come from lol. Not know the different between an overbanked turn and a helix lol I don't think I have laughed this hard in weeks. There is no way Diamondback and Millie can be compared. Should of used Magnum. Raptor and Flight deck? Are you kidding me? I think someone has never been to CP. Wicked Twister is 1 million times better then Invertigo and they also can't be compared. They are two different types of coasters. Comparing Gemini and The Racers......sigh come on. Disaster Transport is a bob sled and Flight of Fear is a launched coaster. HAHAHA The Cedar Creek Mine Ride and SOB is the most hilarious comparison I have seen. The one that I have no clue how to even wrap my brain around is Demon Drop and BLSC. I mean how do you even......nvm I give up lol. Nuff said.

  32. I'm hearing rumors on Facebook (100% unconfirmed) that Lightning Rod's LSM launch may be replaced with a chain lift. This may or may not turn out to be true, as there has not been a reputable source on this yet that I'm aware of. But if you care about such things and haven't ridden it yet, I might suggest considering a trip down there this year just in case it does get confirmed.

  34. Soak City was closed, but The Beach Waterpark (a standalone waterpark directly across from Kings Island) did open. They're two different places.

  35. The Beach Waterpark actually opened today; there were some people there when I was driving to work. Not surprisingly, it closed early at some point too. One of the rare days where The Beach's attendance is higher than Soak City's. I can safely say I had my most interesting swing shift today, which included a solid drive hour at Vortex (which was running two trains FYI), the first big storm coming during my break (I barely made it back just when the rain started coming down!) and getting to explore the old Action Theater (since its basement is our tornado shelter) before we all went back to Vortex and hung around for another hour before being informed of the early closing and subsequently getting to go home early. It was weird hearing the park closing announcement at 5:00, especially the "Good night!" part which doesn't quite fit this time of day. Nonetheless, today was great! Stay safe everyone! I work an open shift tomorrow (and the weather's supposed to be bad tomorrow too...) so this weekend will be interesting.

  37. The Addams Family ride, for me, is the biggest "what if" of the Paramount Parks era. Not only do I love those movies, but I grew up with reruns of both The Addams Family and The Munsters, as well as Scooby Doo, Casper, Tales From the Crypt, Amazing Stories, Eerie Indiana, and anything else creepy, kooky, and spooky. Along with movies being my one true addiction, I would have eaten it up. I never quite understood why we never had rides designed after Mission: Impossible and Star Trek, but I guess it's all moot now.

  38. I actually am more excited about the area around the coaster than I am the coaster itself. I am definitely not a Steelers fan, but I think the interactive areas look really interesting. If nothing else, a lot of these areas will be accessible and open when the weather is poor. It'll be interesting to see how this ends up looking when everything is complete. Personally, I'm not digging the coaster, like, at all. Aesthetically it's not pleasing to look at. The layout doesn't seem to have a lot of flow to it. It looks like they decided to add a bunch of random elements together with no regard for how everything flows together as a whole. I haven't been to the park since 2011 and this definitely won't be the ride to bring me back.

  39. ^ I don't know. I feel like they would go after the Reds rather than the Bengals being that they already have a Reds themed restaurant in rivertown. That's my opinion though. By the way, I'm sure you read my posts before, but I'm also a Colts fan and I live here in Akron, Ohio, which is browns territory.

  44. I'm beginning to wonder if the "no loose article" policy played a role in this injury. Without bins, people are forced to buy a locker or risk putting their phones in a less-than-secure pocket. Also I want to point out that, although this is a little unsightly, at least it's something. The vast majority of parks in the US and abroad have far more reasonable accommodations for loose articles than making you buy a locker each time. Even Cedar Point has a roaming locker option. Many parks have free lockers associated with the rides. In Europe they often have pouches in front of each seat, kind of like The Crypt did. I honestly think that it might hurt spending more than help with the locker charges - even though it's only $1. I think that the crowd of people who opt not to purchase things or play games simply because they don't want to have to get a locker for their purchased item or game prize far outweighs the $1 that some decide to spend. Don't forget - spending is down in addition to attendance.

  47. My 9 year old kid has a bucket list, but don't think she'll make it all this year: Ride the Viking ship- first ride of every visit since she was tall enough. Ride Slingshot (unless I find a volunteer so go she's outta luck) Ride Xtreme Skyflyer(see Slingshot) Ride Banshee -complete but barely made height requirement Ride Diamondback- 1.5 inches to go Ride Flight of Fear-1.5 inches to go Ride Beast- finally got on it Win riding the Blue racer- took 4 rides but got it. Ride Vortex at night- done Got to Halloween Haunt for her birthday- still undecided on agreeing. Get me to go up the Eiffel Tower- okay I did but I didn't agree to stay so was on next elevator down while her and dad stayed lol.
