  1. There is no need to start another Vortex topic in 2 days. Please post in your existing topic.

  2. When I went last week, it was completely gone! It sunk into the ground! You're right, it isn't leaving. Digging it out would be too expensive!

  3. 1. I really don't believe it's trespassing to use a parking lot for a hotel for 10 minutes and 2. I am an employee there. Alas, you are correct that it seems somewhat boring over there. When I first saw it I thought it was something different.

  4. Let's look at the facts: 1. "Giga" shoveled in snow and re-shoveled in employee-only area and left there long after park closes for the Winterfest season and remained until snow melted. Being left there and re-shoveled is a key point here. 2. Posters allegedly appearing at CP seemingly linking AE (a mine ride), SOB and RMC via CP Mining Company by referencing Outpost 5. AE is located adjacent to former SOB site. Also, site # that they reference in poster is the day SOB closed if you reverse it. 3. SOB signs such as barrels, etc. showing up at MT and Beast rides the last year or so and at Haunt. 4. Wood and flowers at SOB memorial appear. Whether they were put there by employees or whomever, once again, key point being, that they have been left there. 5. Other possible teaser randomly appearing in Tower Gardens that could be a mining link to the poster at CP, which therefore links itself back to KI. 6. Another alleged poster at CP which links CP and KI by using "Mason and Sandusky since 1993 Oak strong and Iron bound" by showing a barrel with steel wrapped around it. Also possibly linking SOB logo on barrels seen placed around KI lately with RMC and a 1993 reference to the year TOP GUN was opened, which is right next to SOB Outpost 5 station. There is obviously SOMETHING going on. They do leave a lot of ambiguity to increase speculation in some of this. I like how they do that. FUN STUFF, indeed! But the facts I listed above IMO are somewhat straightforward. I'm going to CP this weekend. I'll try to look for alleged posters.

  5. Easter Eggs, teasers, foreshadowing, call it what you will, we've got a crackpot, er...a crack team at WCPO talking about it now. https://www.wcpo.com/money/consumer/dont-waste-your-money/kings-island-teases-new-coaster-may-be-coming Also, just an observation from this past Tuesday, ride attendants, and I pluralize because more than one was heard saying it, personally, while they're giving their spiel as The Bat leaves the station, for you "to catch it while you can", and "catch it before its gone". I know that these people are following the rumors/leads/misdirections like the rest of us and why would a ride attendant have any knowledge that the ride may be leaving, or maybe they're being fed a script at this point? This all something to watch. Plus, it gives us something to talk about.

  6. So, I’ve been reading this page for YEARS now and this is the thread that finally prompted me to join. Here is my input.... I understand that at this point everything is just speculation. Cool. Could be nothing. Could be something. The thing that stands out most to me though, other than the teaser posters, is the wood at the memorial in the Banshee queue. I recall it being stated that someone knew the employee/operator that placed it there and that it meant nothing. My question is, where did this person obtain said wood? I don’t imagine that here are just random pieces of wood lying around there (I could be wrong). I can’t see that park management allowing any random employee to bring large pieces of wood in the park to stage as memorial. Just doesn’t seem likely. In the event that there was (wood lying around), I can’t imagine that just ANY park employee would have access to it. This would pose potential safety hazards if there were any nails or sharp pieces left behind. Anyways, without rambling on my first post, I’ll sum it up with this.... I’ve been going to this park for 30 years. If this is their new campaign for teasing a new or revived coaster, then it’s pure genius on their marketing teams behalf. Hats off to CF for keeping it fresh.

  7. Oh I know why you haven't said a name lol, I am just pointing out the inconsistency on the forum that we have active threads right now where people are asking for the name/source and nobody is questioning you lol. But it has been days since you first posted it was your friend and nobody has said that is against TOS lol

  8. Just a follow up to say all went well on our trip yesterday. The crew at Mystic Timbers couldn't have been more helpful. Actually, everyone at the park was just wonderful. The cane was truly a non-issue. While the "big rides" are past me, I still ride more than just the train and the carousel. (As a matter of fact, got to ride Mystic twice. What a ride!)

  10. Not a problem - I was planning on doing it from the parking lot, or the end of the road. There's a large chain-link fence that closes it off.

  12. Over by Great Wolf behind employee parking there are a ton of construction vehicles and land clearing. I can try and get some pictures if anyone is interested. Unless, as you said @Codyfryguy, that is just for the employee dorms. Could be cool to see up close anyways.

  14. I traded in my Pixel 1 toward a Pixel 2 just a couple months ago and got $325 credit for it through Verizon, cutting the cost of my Pixel 2 in half. With that credit, I'm paying less than $14/month on the Pixel 2. Flagship model lines will always be worth more than anything else. For Android phones, that's the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and the Google Pixel series. Those will carry good resale value into the next few years, especially if you pay attention to carrier promotions (which you often have to go into the store and ask about, as I did to get that $325 credit). All other Android phones have basically no resale value the moment you buy it. Like anything else, you have to know the market and watch for opportunities to take advantage. EDIT: Also, iPhones may carry a little higher resale value, but they also cost more than most Android phones to begin with (which is WHY they have more resale value; a two-year-old BMW is going to be worth more than a two-year-old Kia, right?). It's not about the resale value alone; it's about the net price of the new phone after the trade-in or resale value is deducted, i.e. what you're ultimately paying for that new phone. $325 for my Pixel 2, the current flagship of Android itself, is a pretty good deal.

  16. There is going to be a free behind-the-scenes opportunity on Racer for National Roller Coaster Day (August 16). You must sign up to participate. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2018/august/sign-up-for-the-national-roller-coaster-day-kings-island-blog-meet-up The Racer tour at this year's Coasterstock was one of the highlights, so if this one takes us into the same areas, I would say it is a definite don't-miss opportunity.

  17. Does anyone have a legit picture of the post at Cedar Point? The one posted is a real close up that you can see some sliver of a building. I'd like to see a clear shot of the building. Like everyone else said, if this poster really is at Cedar Point, then the comments from the rep at KI might be true ("Park spokesman Chad Showalter told WCPO, "We have nothing to do with the speculation you are reporting on.")", but the CP rep sounds fishy (a spokesman for Cedar Point, Tony Clark, told us, "Cedar Point does not comment on rumor or speculation. Fun stuff, though, isn't it?"). Saying "we don't comment on rumor and speculation" is not the same as saying "It isn't true". They are totally hinting at something, and they WANT people to hype up over it. What gets more hype than a bunch of hilarious conspiracy speculation stories?

  18. As a ride operator myself, I can assure you that we would rather somebody come through the exit or use a test seat out front rather than have to do the walk after having to wait in line. Most rides would be able to do this for you so don't hesitate to come up through the exit and ask. There are a few rides that I know of that are definitely more accommodating such as The Bat back near Banshee as well as Shake Rattle and Roll. For Banshee there are two rows designed to be more accommodating. Rows 4 and 5, both of which have seats with a red seatbelt. Also on some rides that have a bar that comes down near your belly such as WindSeeker, if you can pull your stomach up it should definitely help. Everybody is different and a lot of things can play a role in whether or not somebody will be able to ride. As some others said Flight of Fear and Drop Tower definitely do not have a lot of room after the restraint is pulled down. If you want, I have seen people test the seats at Flight of Fear at their exit before, so this is an option as well. Anyways though, I hope that some of this advice can help!

  19. Maybe this is a storyline to connect all of the parks into an adhesive and immersive storyline. Disney has been doing this for years. They came up with a “secret society” storyline quite a while ago. Watch this video it sounds an awful lot like the whole inter-park posters.

  22. So hear me out. I think I’m onto something. If you’re a seasoned KI visitor, you might know that Mystic Timbers features a strange poster at the greeter booth, station, and on a locker in the shed. It’s of this character named Yard Boss Campbell who works in Wood Shed 2. I’m not sure if this is an extension of the lore of the ride or not, but I think it’s safe to assume as much. Either way, I happened to find a high-res version of this poster, and I think there’s some interesting stuff in it that might help lead us to more clues. If you zoom in to Yard Boss Campbell’s Miami River Lumber Co. Hoodie, you’ll see a hidden pieces of text. It’s pretty blurry, but with some Photoshop work, I was able to make out the phrase “Check Wood Shed 2”. You can also see “9:59 PM" If you’re familiar with the queue, the first queue-house is labeled Wood Shed 2. It features a backpack and a walkie-talkie that will occasionally make noise. Just the other week at 9:59 PM, I made my way into the Wood Shed 2 part of the Timbers queue to take a peek. I’m not sure how anyone has missed this so far (probably because the fireworks start just a minute after the fact, sneaky KI), but at 9:59PM every night, the walkie talkie says 1 specific line: “Call Coriell’s. Ask for Outpost 5.” Crazy stuff. It turns out Coriell's is a clothing company that must have created the outerwear for the Miami River Lumber Company, and is based in Idaho (The same state as RMC!) I called Coriell's HQ and was met with a kind woman’s voice, asking me if I had any questions about their apparel. I kindly asked about Outpost 5. There was silence at the other end of the line. 10 seconds. 15 seconds. 30 seconds. Then a different voice came on the line, this time a gruff sounding old man. He asked me for the password. I scrambled, as this was an unexpected turn of events. There was no such information provided on the Yard Boss Campbell poster as far as I could tell, so I instead just came up with the first Mystic Timbers-related word I could think of. “Shed.” The man’s tone suddenly changed from gruff and staunch to warm and inviting, perhaps even relieved. What he said next will stick with me forever. “The Son will return. But there’s more for you to discover first.” I’m convinced these Yard Boss Campbell signs are meant to act as teasers for a new KI attraction. Probably worth looking into more.

  23. Okay, so there was a teaser found out at Cedar Point, (see the first image) well it has some pretty clear references to an outpost 5, saying that the remnants of an out post 5 were found, and that work is in progress to bring the outposts 5 back to functionality. Well, where have we seen outpost 5 before? Son of Beast of course! (See second photo of SOB station) in the line of the story, Adventure Express is headqauters persay to this mining operation, its where all the outposts are linked too. This website archived some of the onboarding riders messages, find the website here https://t.co/hJaRZJziUP , track three on the website, a sound file of the Adventure Express boarding message, that onboarding message has an exact qoute from the teaser found at Cedar Point. This is, very clearly a blunt way of telling us of the return of SOB.

  24. Vortex had it's last complete paint job back in 2001 the year I was a ride op on Vortex. It did get the rails repainted in 2009. And yes 2000 was the last year for Bond at KI, 7th Portal and Smash Factory showed in 2001. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  25. I love the customizability of Android (widgets, icons, app launcher, etc.) and external storage among other things. I've never used an iPhone but I really don't have any desire to either.

  26. Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love our ride but I don't necessarily think the new things we got this year indicate much. If something needs to be done out of necessity, they're going to do it. For example, needing a new compressor or replacing a few footers... Hopefully it does stay around for a while though! Certainly one of my favorites at the park. Now if they could just give it a new paint job, that would be perfect.

  27. I believe jtro223 is referring to the extreme brightness of the LED - it is obvious the police lights are there to signify to be cautious and to SLOW DOWN...but to many people the LED lights are piercing to the eyes and causes temporary "blindness" or spots limiting vision at what should be a situation where full eyesight and concentration is needed. Here is one of many articles discussing such phenomena: http://www.poconorecord.com/article/20131231/News/312310319 Many think you are overreacting, but to each their own...If you truly believe it is an issue, take it up with the officials in that jurisdiction...and you will learn more about right of ways and traffic laws and billboards and such as you progress through your degree, especially if you take the transportation route of civil engineering...you may end up answering your own question!

  28. Yes, but you don't make claims that you KNOW things are true without proof. I may not share your love of Arrow's, but I do respect your comments and experiences. I don't discount someone's opinion just because of their age either. My recently turned 14 year old nephew knows quite a few facts and things about coaster operations that I was unaware of beforehand, he does his own research and double and triple checks them. Last year when he started rolling off things that he knew, it blew my mind. He was correcting me on manufactures and coasters stats that I was incorrect or unsure about. Heck, there are even 10 year olds and younger kids that can crush my coaster count.

  30. Good to know. I drive a 15 year old car and I had to buy a new battery yesterday. I guess that means I won't have to buy another car for at least another 15 years. To be 19 and KNOW EVERYTHING....I miss those days. lol What's an invesion? I don't think I've ever experienced one of those in my 300+ coasters.

  31. Now that we know the most-rides-in-a-single-day record on Vortex (66), I have another question (or two): If I manage to break that record at some point -- would I need to provide proof somehow? Is there a book or document containing ride records that would need to be updated, or would I just need to get word to the right people that I broke the record? I may or may not attempt to ride Vortex at least 67 times on one of my days off, so I'm just curious.

  33. So I found another clue from a Carowinds teaser poster from late June that directly links to KI. They had a poster of the Miami River Lumber Company. The most telling hint is at the bottom of the poster (Images aren’t attaching for some reason but the teaser twitter post can be found on Screamscape Carowinds) It reads at the bottom: “Your lumber is obtained by means of vengeance. Notice: We are temporarily sold out of Southern Yellow Pine until our next shipment arrives next season.” To me vengeance is a clear reference to RMC SteVe. Additionally you’ll recall that the poster found at Cedar Point that references Outpost 5 and Five is Alive also references looking for stalwart men that have a full understanding of Southern Yellow Pine (among other things). Conclusions... So we have multiple RMC references, multiple Southern Yellow Pine references, and multiple Outpost 5 references. This all leads me to believe next year we will begin construction on a RMC in Action Zone to replace SOB (utilizing the station) that should open in 2020. Let’s hope so! 35. @Maverick44 I assume if your name was SteelVengeance44, then you would like it better? Since I was at CP yesterday, I rode both. Since riding both again, I like SteVe better than Maverick. It just feels more intense for me. Although I do love the mid-course tunnel and acceleration.

  36. Android hands down. No contest. There are so many things you can do on Android that just aren't possible with the hilariously locked-down iOS devices. The biggest for me is Tasker. I tinker with Tasker all the time, and have it set to automatically turn my Wi-Fi on when I get home (or a few other places where I have the Wi-Fi password) and turn it off when I leave. It's also programmed to put my phone on vibrate when I get to a few defined places (like my college campus) and re-enables the ringer when I leave, puts the phone on Do Not Disturb mode while driving, and disables the screen timeout while certain apps are in the foreground. You can't do that stuff on Crapple devices, and that's just the basic stuff. You can do far more complex things as well.

  37. Only if you let it. Life is full of ebb and flow. I've found myself exited about getting a Big Mac, but had to bail on the line because I had to get to work on time. Expectation vs reality is something we all have to deal with. In my experience expectation is always a +%10 over reality, but I'm an optimist, lol

  47. Been following for a long time and this is my first reply, if this ends up being true and is the beginning teaser for the resurrection of Son of Beast it would be cool to see whenever they do an announcement if a week ahead of it that they turned off the eternal flame at Banshee graveyard as a hint of what’s coming

  49. That is a great find! I don't know if it really means anything as far as a future ride for Kings Island but it is very cool how they tied the story lines into one another. I also know that the teaser material for the new coaster over at Carowinds they reference Miami River Lumber and Steel Vengeance. Also i never realized the connection between SOB and Adventure Express.
