  1. Here is a different perspective of the Kings Island skyline: Here you can see a portion of where the monorail track was, along with the pond where the animals grazed: Here you can see the pond closer, as well as more of the former location of the monorail track: Here is the view of the safari looking northwest, towards Great Wolf Lodge: Here is a view of the safari looking north, notice Kings High School in the background: Sorry for the low resolution, the video the pictures were taken from was shot in 4K but they are compressed when uploaded onto the forums. Hope you all enjoy!

  2. I'm not sure which particular animals the building in question housed, but as far as I know - there were still two animal keeps still standing (along with a few other random structures) as of a few years ago. The building in these photographs was mainly used as storage and accessible via a very eroded and overgrown pathway. For years after the first Winterfest revival was cancelled, it was used to store a ton of WF decorations that never made it into that crappy haunt thing with mean Santa. It also had several of those classic HB benches that were installed circa 2001 and removed for Nickelodeon Universe. The heaters for the animals were still hanging from the rafters the last time I was in there. A second pen, known as "The Bolt Barn," was just up the hill from Son of Beast and had most of the surrounding brush and trees removed. It was also somewhat renovated. Inside were aisles upon aisles of tools and parts specifically used to maintain Son of Beast. The pond itself is very random to see in person, but still cool, and behind Adventure Express on the hillside there were (was, maybe with Banshee now there) some other structures. I think they may have been some sort of stations with phones. The former monorail maintenance shed (which could house one train indoors on special track and allow maintenance staff to work underneath) eventually became part of the facilities for Steel Coaster Maintenance. In the yard out front, that once was the switch track for the monorail, several things were stored there such as FoF's original OTSR trains (at least one of them). Underneath all the random stuff you could still find a monorail footing or two. Hope that helps @Bansheeback, I've got photographs somewhere.

  3. It is a lot of fun. Remember it’s a separate ticket event, but every ride is like a Fastlane. so you get your monies worth and support the community at the same time!

  4. I think next year we'll go. It's a big drive for us on a Friday, but...every year this comes up, and I wish we were there, having fun. Sounds like it is more than worth the price of admission. :-)

  6. Forget to come back and update what she could ride. Our group hit every coaster with the exception of Flight of Fear(Was down when we went to ride Firehawk and when we came around late in the day it was an hour wait) she fit fine on Firehawk, Vortex, and The Bat. She was unable to ride The Beast, The Racer, Mystic Timbers Diamondback or Banshee. The first three were because of the lap bar and the last two was because of the shape of the seats. She didn't want to ride The others so did not even attempt them. I have to say though that Drop Tower was tight, i needed help wih my buckle, and I've never had an issue fitting on any coaster(5'8 200lbs)S till it was a super fun trip, although very very hot. Were already planning to go again next year but are considering getting Platinum passes which we never have before.

  7. I'd pay good money to go tour old abandoned parts of fairly well established places. The museum center, music hall, KI. I did the old brewery tour downtown where you go into an ancient looking aging cellar, love that stuff.

  8. New Attractions and Rides are a mere band aid for the root problem that Kings Island and other CF parks face. Poor Customer Service, low quality dining and lacking entertainment continue to be major issues that are neglected every year. Especially at Kings Island.

  9. Yes very family friendly. The language at the drag show can be pretty risqué, but outside of that it’s a celebration of being human! No judgement here!

  10. HW tried Timberliners on the Voyage in 2010 and I think it was the first train ever built. You can find YouTube videos of members of the Koch family riding on it but the park never allowed the general public to try it out. Last I saw or heard the train was for sale on a used ride website. I have heard two rumors why they did not switch trains. One is that the lighter trains carry less speed reducing the airtime, second the PTC’s mold the wood track to an extent and caused the Timberliners to run rough and would have required retracking the entire coaster to switch. Both sound true, but it’s tough to know if either is why they made the decision to stick with the PTC’s.

  11. It’s like being a kid in a candy store! Rides rides everywhere and not a line to be seen! Was sprinkling a little while ago so the festhouse is the place to be! Come on down and support the community!

  13. IMO that would capture the spirit of The Beast, even if it was metal. Going that fast, that close to the ground would feel like the trees were an arm's length away. Plus, a 300+ drop straight into the tree canopy?!? Child please

  14. So if you can't have it you would prefer no one had it? Also, I respect your opinion but disagree with it. To me the last few years have all been duds. There is 0 intensity and far too few actors. Having been to some of the bigger haunts in Ohio KI's haunt seems very pedestrian to me.

  15. I figure most will find this interesting. The killer here is, Android phones continue to plummet in value. The Pixel 2 has lost 75% of its value since release. The original MSRP on the Pixel 2 is $749.00. The reality is, they are selling it for less because of its age, not the device price itself. Here’s the article. https://bgr.com/2018/09/06/iphone-x-vs-iphone-xs-price-value-release-date/

  16. All things considered, I'll throw this out there: I brought my elderly parents to KI for the first time since 2011. The bring a friend tickets played a roll in this because they can't do many rides (they did the Eiffel Tower, Boo Blasters and the train.) I also brought, on a different day, a friend from first grade. She had not been since 2009. She can ride everything and we had a blast. Besides the money they spent in the park (meals, ice cream and Sweet Shoppe items), both my parents and my high school friend plan to visit again next year. My parents are looking forward to KMAA and my friend just might be a budding enthusiast after a terrific experience. FTR: my parents and friend are not low brow surly folks. While the gate giving surely did attract these types, I believe it did attract some quality folks too.

  17. Possibly, but I don’t think that kicks in until next year. I don’t know if they plan on bring in internationals like CP but they don’t stick around past weekly operations anyway I don’t beleive. It could help draw workers from towns to far away to commute each day such as Cbus. I still see a big problem in that the the work is seasonal and wages and benefits are not any higher than most other entry service industry jobs. CP was struggling this past weekend in food service and they still had at least some internationals. This is a joke, right?

  18. My expectations is that the large crowds will be handled appropriately, and that each group receives time to enjoy the maze instead of being pushed through like cattle to slaughter.

  19. The problem with doing things like this on rides is the safety factor. It would be very difficult to have scareactors in the shed and still maintain ride safety.

  20. My experience has been that the people who complain about others being lazy the most are often the ones who do the least amount of work with the worst kind of attitudes.

  21. Mystic Timbers would be perfect for Stine. Does he still come to the park?

  23. Last night I had a night ride on Beast, with bright flashes of lightning from a still-distant storm. I asked the friend I was riding with if lightning struck the coaster, it becomes a time-machine, right?

  24. 1. That is a good idea there should be a book based on the history of Kings Island, even going back to before Kings Island even existed. By the way I have both Beast books by R.L. STINE on my shelf in my room. 2. Great idea maybe they should make references to the other rides in the park I was thinking that Diamondback, Beast, Flight of Fear, The Bat, and Banshee would fit perfectly in the ending shed scene for Mystic Timbers.

  25. 1. There aren't too many books about Kings Island's history. Would the park ever consider allowing someone like Images of America to publish a book, similar to their one about LaSourdsville Lake? 2. Has the park considered adding more random encounters in Mystic Timber's shed, such as aliens from Flight of Fear and The Beast's claws?

  27. For the love of God yes, that's what I need to see, someone who gets the idea, I rode it, I beat the **** out of my kidneys and endured that so I could say I expierenced something that ambitious, sure it was all helixes, but man were those some hellatious helixs, I agreed compleltley though, people don't want "SOB" back, they want that overhanging domanince in the park, I remeber all the years you'd go to the park and even driving in from the highway it dominated the skyline, it popped up out of the sky over everything else and make you go, "what in the hell is that thing, I wanna ride it" getting next to it in Action Zone made you feel like an ant, the loop was the craziest idea every, so yeah, when I say I want SOB back, I say I want a powerful ride, that makes you feel like nothing compared to it, that does some of the most ambitious, rarely, or never before seen things, I want something in spirit that gives me that feeling that the ride has power over me, and there's nothing I can do about it.
