  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMiJMERoKws The New Coney Mall For Kings Island's 50th anniversary, Kings Island will be restoring Coney Mall to its original glory. With 8 new experiences, the renovation will improve all aspects of Coney Mall. Additions include: -Racer Refurbishment, The Racer will be retracked to ensure a smooth ride for the years to come, repainting of the entire structure and track, as well as a new light package. -Hang Glider, one of two new flat rides, being a Gerstlauer Sky Fly. -Ferris Wheel, a classic fairground staple. -Skyride, a quick way to go to either side of Coney Mall with a great view. -The Kings Island Museum, a space dedicated for Kings Island's history and exclusive park construction photos from 1972. -Coney Treats, a new quick service restaurant with Coke products, Skyline Chili options, and pretzels. -Games, With the former KillMart building being demolished for Hang Glider, the other games and arcade building is getting an overhaul. KillMart will be moved and updated to behind the Games section, and a New Arcade is being put in on the other half of this massive building. -Monster Refurbishment, The Monster is being replaced with a new model, complete with an LED Package and a vibrant color scheme. Disclaimers: This project was made prior to the Kings Mills Antique Autos announcement, which is where Coney Drinks and the Ferris Wheel are located, both of which will not be possible anymore. This video is only a concept, meaning there are no rumors or signs that any of this is going to happen.

  2. I really like this idea. I still think they should have the old Banshee gift shop turn into a SoB and Banshee mini museum.

  3. To note, the earlier PTC trains were not designed to run backwards, the later versions had the ability to run backwards from the factory. Let's hear it from Mike himself...

  4. You scoff at people having a skill/interest and spending the time doing something they presumably enjoy? The concept looks great. I'd love a Sky Ride down the mall, and I'm digging the new paint scheme on Monster.

  5. Guys im still here don't worry. Been so busy lately. I need to make a concept!

  6. I saw the Coasterstock 2018 Q&A with Mike Koontz on YouTube, and I think he said that the PTC trains weren't designed to go backwards if I remember correctly.

  7. The current trains on Racer were never designed to run backwards, that is why they will not be turned around again due to recommendations by PTC, but I do know of a set of compatible trains that are currently orphaned that can run backwards. BTW, did someone say gondolas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. To echo what @upstop said, I think if/when Vortex finally has to go (hopefully that's still a while from now), some type of 90 degree drop coaster, whether it be a B&M Dive Machine or a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter, would fit it's footprint perfectly! And if they would find a way to "re-re-use" Vortex's station (which as we know used to be the original Bat's) that would be awesome! I wonder if a station has ever been used for 3 different coasters throughout its lifespan...

  10. It's cool to see that footage, not just for the Skyride. That's the first I've ever seen of that flat ride in the background, photo or video.

  11. These are rides that need to go and be replaced Congo Falls Vortex (replace with B&M floorless) Stuntcoaster (its hideous, low capacity, and did I mention its ugly in the middle of the park?) Invertigo Boo Blasters (it was done soooooooo cheaply, even when it was Scooby Doo. Enchanted Voyage and Phantom Theatre were excellent dark rides) The skycoaster and the vertical launch upcharge (for same reason as Stuntcoaster, they are hideous!)

  12. I think we'll have a better entrance & parking lot, a Giga, a Dive, and an assortment of flats and new restaurants. (I also am really hoping for a Mack Launch Coaster someday)

  13. As @malem stated, this has been public knowledge. I have spoke to the park many times about this when it becomes a topic of discussion on here. They were turned around because CF wanting to do so, not because they had to.

  14. Six Flags has operated PTC trains, as well as several other types of trains, backwards in recent years. Kings Island has explicitly stated several times, including during Coasterstock Q&A, that they could run the current trains backwards if they wanted to.

  15. I normally scoff at excessive effort spent on things like this... that YouTube was pretty good. Like the concepts. 2 of the 8 have a shot at happening: Racer and Monster refurb. The museum is a good concept... the skyride would be a nice touch to tie in the historic aspect of Coney. I don't see either happening though.

  17. I would love to see the station reused. It’s one of the most themed stations in the park. I could see the first drop of this coaster following Votex’s current path, falling deeper into the ravine into a tunnel, circling under the midway, coming out of the ground and arching over the midway, back into the main ride area and continually using the ravine base. Heck make it with 7 inversions.... that would be a world record for dive coasters right?

  18. ^Ehh I wouldn't say that's too egregious an offense... Or at least, it wouldn't be like breaking the 11th Commandment, which to everyone here that doesn't already know.... THOU SHALL NOT REMOVE Adventure Express! There's also, on the 8th day, God made Adventure Express, and He said, "This sacred ride shall be honored and revered for ages to come!"

  19. I know I’m breaking a cardinal rule around these parts, but I think the next ride to leave is Vortex, to be replaced with the worlds tallest and longest..... B&M Dive coaster. Excuse me while I run for the door...

  20. I'm not expecting any of our concepts to be the actual plans if a giga does happen. But, I think it's cool that @IndyGuy4KI actually told Chad Showalter (KI director of communications) about the concept things that me and @Maverick44 started doing.

  21. Carowinds is a really cool park, my wife and I visited last summer. Charlotte is a beautiful city as well. Would highly recommend.

  22. Considering it was most likely not the "plan" to convert the Banshee gift shop mid-season, I'm guessing there is a probably a decent chance that it will be made to look better by next season, or even by the time Haunt rolls around. Maybe they could move some of the scary/horror games into that space. I'm not even sure how many of those they have in the other arcades. (Anyone else remember the large arcade at the end of Days of Thunder?)

  23. As I've alluded to in several post this morning, I have many worries about "trashiness" around Kings Island - especially with the extremely low dress code and appearance standards this year. The merchandise is way, way down my list of concerns. I'm not one to wear Kings Island shirts or apparel, but I don't think any of it necessarily qualifies as trashy. Just my opinion.
