  1. What kind of Haunt maze do you think we will see in the Firehawk station for 2019?

  2. As long as Skyflyer is profitable (along with SlingShot), that thing isn't going anywhere...Relocated to somewhere else in the park if absolutely necessary, but certainly not removed.. I can not stress this enough... I do not care how many times you see any of the Arrow coasters being walk-ons, Vortex, AE, and The Bat, are among the best capacity attractions in the park.

  4. Why "Rest in Pieces" instead of the normal "Rest in Peace"? "It's Big it's Gone" is a strange phrase..."It's Gone" means it's already gone...it doesn't say "When it's Gone", or "Will be Gone", or "soon to be removed". Does "Big" refer to the size of what's gone (or what's going to be gone), or does big refer to the fact that it's gone, like it's a big deal that it's gone? So many questions!

  5. Greg Scheid used almost exactly those words in reference to Firehawk during the Banshee announcement. I knew my Sheldon Cooper-esque eidetic memory would come in handy one day! It's around a minute into this video: I do believe the ride is Firehawk. That said, I don't believe that "one of our own" is meant to be a clue.

  6. I would agree with most of you that the signs are pointing towards Firehawk. The wreath colors: red, black, gray, and yellow all point towards Firehawk. It has red and yellow cars, black on part of the restraints, reddish track (more a burgundy), and gray supports. Firehawk has seemingly been down more this year compared to previous years. When it is up it has longer wait times but it also has horrible capacity. Invertigo probably has better capacity and it is running only one train. The location of the ride would be a good area for a giga. If you look at the other two gigas that Cedar Fair has installed semi-recently, Fury 325 and Intimidator 305, they are both off the main midways a bit. Fury was located right next to Hurler, and Intimidator which is probably a good example for KI since we have a similar (not exact) layout to KD. I305 is located right next to their Flight of Fear. It makes sense to put a Giga entrance back in that area of the park because it helps more evenly disperse the crowds in the park. You would have Banshee over in AZ, the big three in Rivertown, and this new coaster which would help bring crowds not only to FOF but also Racer, the flats in Coney, and probably would help Vortex a bit as well. Locating the giga there would also allow the park to use some of the vacant land that SOB used to occupy. The park in the last five years has made several major/minor updates to the Coney Mall area. These have included the re-paint of Shake, Rattle, and Roll; LED lights added to Dodgems, Shake Rattle, and Roll, and Zephyr; re-painting the Subway location; Coney Bar-B-Que; and next year's Kings Mills Antique Autos. If you stand in front of Coney Bar-B-Que and look towards Firehawk you can easily visualize what a giga would add to that area. The other benefits are we would probably get the bathrooms back in that area we have wanted for years and possibly even a new restaurant. The only thing that doesn't point toward Firehawk is the "ItsBigItsGone", as Firehawk would never be classified as "big" by most people in the size-sense but maybe it is referring to the something "big" that is going to replace it. I figure that the park will continue to tease a little while longer before the final announcement is made. It is kind of funny that whatever attention Kentucky Kingdom hoped to get with their recent teasers has been overshadowed by a faux cemetery at a park two hours away.

  10. Someone mentioned how there are old, dead flowers and new flowers to suggest it died twice. Could mean two things. First, Dinosaurs Alive is still back in the woods, just closed to the public and no Dinosaurs, and it's officially going to be removed. Secondly, if it's Firehawk, it could symbolize how it "died" when X-Flight was removed from Geauga Lake and it's going to "die" again.

  11. Did you not see that he JUST attended a funeral? He’s going through a lot. Isn’t even sure who’s going in the ground. Give him some slack.

  12. I can't imagine them removing a major coaster without telling the public well in advance so those who love it can ride it to their heart's content before it goes away. That would just be really rude. At this point I think the Big Brown Box is going bye-bye. Or something else the park doesn't think is much of a big deal enough to forewarn us.

  13. "The air is eerily clear" makes me think of The Vortex. Assuming "big" doesn't refers to its place in park history, the Vortex has been a major staple at the park for decades. If removed, it would be an end of era. It also makes me think of WindSeeker, but that doesn't fit the "big" clue. At least, to me it doesn't. Firehawk, however, isn't something I ride as often. It's never been something I would wait for if I can walk right onto rides like The Beast, Diamondback, Banshee, and Mystic Timbers. If gone, I wouldn't miss it as much as Vortex. As far as The Beast theory goes, nah, I don't think it's going anywhere. I doubt the Son of Beast headstone is any indication of the ride that's leaving the park, except that this ride will be joining it in death.

  14. Had the mac bowl today. I was so excited for this, but what a let-down. The mac was dry, and about 1/2 the size from winterfest. When we got done eating we were all still hungry. Everyone was raving over it at Winterfest, why would you not bring it back with the same quality and quantity you had at Winterfest?

  15. lmao it's probably an inside joke and they are "laying to bed" the rumor of Son of Beast returning... The red and yellow stuff was also Son of Beasts colors. haha

  16. Firehawk was my favorite coaster until Banshee came. I still ride it every time I go. It's so unique and fun to me. I'll be so sad if this is true. Seen alot of people mention the red and yellow flowers on the wreath ... to me the sides of the chairs look like they are spray painted yellow and red too but maybe its just a reflection or light?

  21. Very interesting... If the speculated 2020 giga is actually coming, I think I just realized my prediction for where. Firehawk has seemed like a remarkably complex ride for a seasonal park for me for a while, but since it's lasted this long, I figured it'd be around for a while. But if you'd told me the Vekoma Flying Dutchman at Kings Island wouldn't outlast the one at the dumpy Six Flags near DC, I wouldn't believe you. Because I'm too cheap to pay for a locker, the emotion I associate most with this ride is fear that my stuff will fall out of my pockets. It's never been a must-ride for me, but I've got friends who love the thing. A number of them also liked Son of Beast, though, so maybe they're just wrong.

  24. My thoughts / opinions on Coney BBQ The Good Hardly any lines and when there are, it moves quickly They almost always have trays (It may not seem like a big deal to some, but those that know us know that while my son can put it away he will not carry the meal) The smoked turkey - My go to. Wondering why they have not had this all along, always been moist and good The corn on the cob - not sure what they do but it is always good The tri-tip - only had one instance of funky cuts (shreds) but the rest has been pretty good The Ok The pulled pork - seemed greasy to me, not much smoky flavor The rotisserie chicken - ok The baked beans The fries The sausage - I really dont like it but my son usually does. However, I usually end up having to peel the casing off for him to finish it. If it were like this in the store, I would only have bought it one time The bad The mac and cheese - inconsistent, goes from OK to Bad The coleslaw - The last several times it tasted like something in it went bad The wishlist Coke freestyes at the end Chicken tenders Corn pudding Summary Overall, a good addition. Heres to hoping that it is maintained or further improved in the future.

  26. KK doesn’t have the cash flow KI does and they’ve had other second-hand coasters.
    2 points
  27. Have to agree with this, especially since KK is a competitor park. Also, I don't think KK would purchase a handmedown with maintenance problems if that's the case of Firehawk's removal, since my guess is that it would be more of an issue at an independent park in regards to attendance and money.

  28. If that were the case, I doubt they would take the stance of, "well, we just got rid of it without letting you know, but if you really love it just go to Kentucky Kingdom".

  30. If you watch the promo for MT, the vines represented nature taking back its land...I couldn't help but notice there are vines on the Flight Commander tombstone, and there is currently a new attraction being installed on that site...could be clues, could be a coincidence...I guess it would depend on of there was any pattern to which tombstones they put vines on.

  31. The one tombstone literally says "Moreland" like we need more land so once we tear this ride down we'll have more land? lol?

  32. Another odd phrase. From Merriam-Webster: Definition of Ill-Fated 1: having or destined to a hapless fate : UNFORTUNATE an ill-fated expedition 2: that causes or marks the beginning of misfortune Definition of Demise (Entry 1 of 2) 1a: DEATH b: a cessation of existence or activity c: a loss of position or status 2: the conveyance of an estate 3: transfer of the sovereignty to a successor Definition of Demise (Entry 2 of 2) transitive verb 1: to convey by will or lease demise an estate 2: to transmit by succession or inheritance 3: obsolete : CONVEY, GIVE intransitive verb 1: DIE, DECEASE 2: to pass by descent or bequest the property has demised to the king's heirs So, Kings Island is making final preparations for the unfortunate death, loss of position, conveyance, succession, or the passing on of property to the king's heirs of one of their own. Interesting.

  33. The only reason I think it's a coaster or a ride/attraction is because I dont think people would pay attention if there were a gravestone for just the old Tomb Raider building. That being said, it could be Action Theater as that is/was an attraction.

  36. So claws, red yellow grey and black flowers, and eerily calm air. Also Kentucky Kingdom's new ride is called the Kentucky Flyer with the slogan "what's in the wind". Just makes you think... (side note): Just wanna add that there's 11 chairs and Firehawk has been there eleven years. Probably nothing tho.

  37. Surprised no one has really mentioned Invertigo... If a coaster leaves I think that one would be the next on the block, especially because of other parks removing theirs. I could possibly see Firehawk, but it seems rather reliable and ok (not great but not what I'd call bad) capacity wise the times I've been there.
    2 points
  38. My gut says Firehawk. It’s just such a maintenance nightmare, the trains could be sent to Carowinds to keep Nighthawk going for a while longer. But I could see it being Vortex, while it is reliable, it is getting old and has not aged well. It also has a very prominent location which could be well suited to a replacement coaster. I would be shocked if it was WindSeeker.
    2 points
  39. The definition for a Vortex is: a mass of whirling fluid or air, especially a whirlpool or whirlwind. So wouldn’t “The air is eerily calm” teaser fit that better?
    2 points
  40. They likely will add to the display or add more teasers to clue you in before an actual announcement. You’ll know the whole story before it’s last day.

  41. Agreed. All of the woodens have their own place here and I doubt that KI would want to give the most wooden track record back to Holiday World given they just got it back with Mystic Timbers.
    1 point
  42. That's a valid point. I just can't see Kings Island doing that. I'm guessing they won't say what's leaving til the 28th. I'm surprised Invertigo (doesnt match the clues) isnt being considered.

  46. Thinking logical about the fact of where the antique cars are going to be located and also the fact the almost confirmed 2020 B&M Coaste Project, it's either WindSeeker or Firehawk. I am fairly certain the work on the 2020 project will commence before the end of the year. Whatever they are removing is in the way! Personally I feel it's WindSeeker, I mean look at how the new Midway will isolate it even more than it is now. We will find out soon! One thing I am feel certain about is this is all connected to 2020 and by next April when the park opens there will be a lot to see and speculate about. Always good times!

  48. The ride records page on Kings Island's website is gone, but the park published the rider counts for the top 10 rides in 2015. Comparing the results to the numbers from prior seasons: The Bat dropped out of the top 10 this season, Vortex fell 2 spots to #7, and Backlot Stunt Coaster posted an 8.2% increase in ridership. Banshee was back on top for its sophomore season.
