  1. ^ Listen, you already keep the Coke Refresh stand in Rivertown closed. You're really gonna make them shut down an entire area of the park when you visit, now?

  2. This was the day I bought it. I haven’t unfolded it since that day because it’s massive and hard to deal with.

  3. I’d say combine Oktoberfest with Action Zone to make a whole new land, like with a spooky forest theme, but hey I’m just spouting off ideas...

  4. I could go for a drink refresh stand area theme.

  5. I actually know the story behind this. At some point in the summer, someone brought up the question with the rides associates (mainly the Planet Snoopy ones since tower is a part of snoopy for operations) whether or not tower is a ride or attraction. The supervisor there obviously thinks its a ride (hence the writing on the pumpkin) and a handful of other rides people said it wasn't. I say that the elevator is a ride and the platform is an attraction. As to the gravestone, I think its because with Winterfest they usually close tower a little bit before haunt is actually over so they can start getting lights and stuff ready so its probably closed for the season by now. I heard through a friend that the associates decorated pumpkins for a some of the rides and i guess Tower wanted to display theirs to stand their ground about tower being a ride

  6. I agree about Action Zone. I think a dark forest theme could be cool and could transition nicely from the more tree filled Oktoberfest. Banshee and Bat would fit in well and could easily retheme the remaining rides and building. Mostly some paint and plant some more trees around and it’s set. Could even connect it more to Oktoberfest and theme it around the Black Forest.

  7. I've done close to similar to this myself with KI and Knott's when I was living in Ohio. Being at KI until close at Haunt (which was near 2am I didnt leave the park), and catching a flight to begin fall vaca in Cali, and was at Knott's at opening. Now it is just Knott's and Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat (4 hr drive between), or Knott's and SeaWorld (1 hr and half drive). lol

  8. I made it to morning ERT at Kings Island this morning after staying at Cedar Point until close on Friday, managing to ride coasters at both parks on the same calendar day. Close enough? Six Disney parks on the same day is too crazy for even me. You'd spend more time traveling than actually enjoying anything.

  10. One more season is too long. Boo Blasters on Boo Hill is a genericized Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle which itselfdebuted in 2003. Yes, 2003. Something of Phantom Theater quality would be much appreciated although I think it may be time to do something outside of the "spooky" category which they've been doing since 1992.

  11. I think it's frustrating as all get out and I wouldn't mind seeing it replaced with anything... Unless it's a refresh station that's ALWAYS FREAKING CLOSED...

  12. I say bring back the Adventure Village name to Action Zone; most of the rides in that area could somehow fit under that umbrella. This new area could also include that little strip of land with Slingshot, Adventure Express, the Coke stand, and perhaps even Hank’s. Festhaus and Viking Fury could either be what’s left of Oktoberfest or absorbed into International Street.

  13. Robust, thanks for sharing! It’s cool to see it still exists...hopefully the park will ask you to fly it during the parks 50th Anniversary.

  15. Wow. What a blast from the past, I remember this Trip Report from way back when I first joined KIC in May 2009. One year later, on May 29th, 2010: I went to Holiday World myself for the first time. Had a blast. Since then, I have gone back in 2011, 2013, and this year, 2018. Every single time, I have had a great time. Voyage, amazing in 2010, was running way off in 2011 (super rough and no air) and a bit off in 2013 (first half great but 2nd half was like 2011), but it seems to have returned to form as of 2018. Wildebeest, Mammoth, and Thunderbird have all been amazing additions the park has seen since 2009. I do miss Pilgrims Plunge, it was a fun ride, just sucks that- from what I have heard- it was gonna be so expensive to repair 1 part ($2 million!?!?) and the ride wasn't popular enough. On my visits before it was removed, I found it usually never had a long line. I also miss Paul Revere's Midnight Ride, their old spider type ride. TBH it was better than KI's monster. Also, out of curiosity I looked up how much that $7.50 2 slices of Pizza costs at Holiday World now: it's $11 now. I know Kings Island charges about $15 for the same 2 slices, so Holiday World is $4 cheaper now, but I don't remember how much Kings Island charged for 2 slices of Pizza back in '09. If it has always been $4 more at KI, then 2009 KI Pizza would have been $11.50, which seems about right.

  16. To interject, a park usually rethemes an area after they add a new coaster to keep people in that area of the park. Carowinds and Canada's Wonderland are doing a good job bringing some theming to areas that haven't seen much of anything. You could argue KI did this when they built Banshee- they brought back The Bat to add to the spookiness, they added a new seating area, and they repainted Delirium. The only thing I wish they did more of was repaint Drop Tower and rename Invertigo the Demon- but other than that, they did a good job trying to get rid of the Paramount vibe.

  17. So last night I was at the park and most of the day the Jack In The Box in Coney Mall had his hat on, but then the wind picked up and I went back to Coney Mall later that night and I noticed that his hat was completey gone! Did anybody else notice this?

  18. Vortex and other coasters can continue to run if it drops below the minimum temp, the problem was yesterday after Vortex shut down for wind it simply got to cold to resume operation. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  19. Is that the min operating temp or the min startup temp? I seem to remember a discussion last season where it was stated that the temp had to be at x degrees (I think it was 45, but not certain) to "wake up" the ride, but it could operate at lower temps once it had been woken up.

  21. I don’t post much, but I made a concept of what I think a potential giga could look like at At Kings Island. I only made WindSeeker, Racer, and Flight of Fear. With the addition of this new giga, it will create a massive expansion for X-Base and tie in loosely to the Area 51 theme as a potential “secret weapon” for Kings Island. (Track work isn’t perfect, but not the point here). What do you think? http:// Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Despite the crazy weather, I still enjoyed the 1-2 hours I spent at Haunt (I'd been at the park since around 11:30ish and had a fantastic time- the Firehawk tour was pretty much the highlight of my day, plus The Beast ran great!). As this was my last Haunt night, I got some more pics with my Haunt friends (specifically the Overlord and the greeter for Chaos) and finished up the Haunt season with Chaos, Wolf Pack (hi @exscream team!) and said my last goodbye to Sam in Slaughter House. After seeing Sam, one of his relatives got me real good right before , so kudos to him as I'm not the easiest scare in that maze. I wish the rest of the scareactors a great rest of the season; break a leg next weekend everyone! As for my personal stats, my top 3 most visited mazes were Slaughter House (13 times), Chaos (10 times), and Killmart (7 times). EDIT: I forgot to mention: one benefit of doing Wolf Pack while it's light out is getting to take in some amazing views of Banshee, Bat and the former Lion Country Safari Land while waiting in line.

  23. Info I obtained from Don at the KIBlog meet up. Firehawk will be dismantled not torn down. Unknown if it will be relocated. We don't know if the station will be removed with FH or kept for a haunt? No information if anything will replace it at this time.

  25. Having been for Haunt this year, the construction fence is already bottlenecking that section as much as the Antique Autos will in 2019. It was also one of the most crowded days I have ever seen at Kings Island. It was a bit of a bottleneck. It was still a wider path than the one in front of Vortex, that connects Rivertown to Coney Mall. However, due to the fact they have THREE haunts (KillMart, Field of Screams, and Urgent Scare) back there during Haunt, it was wall-to-wall people near the bathrooms. You could easily get to Vortex since its entrance is on the side, but you had to walk through some people for WindSeeker. I don't think the path width was that bad, during the day before the crowds came in it was fine, but the fact they stuffed 3 haunts in that 1 section is what caused the bottlenecking. It should be fine during the spring and summer, I don't see the Kings Mills Antique Autos, Vortex, and WindSeeker drawing THAT many people back there by themselves but when you add the 3 Haunts, with as crazy popular as Haunt has become, that is when it is gonna get crazy.

  28. Totally different layout, and I really prefer ours. Cadillac Cars is basically a clover layout which has a covered bridge in the middle. Here is a screenshot from google maps. Also I should point out Cedar Point actually has two antique car rides, the second in the back of the park has a much better layout.

  29. Is this the exact some ride as C.P.? If that’s the case, then a second set of updated prints is all this is. I expect KI will modify the signage to their liking. There are numerous items marked throughout the prints to consult with customer as to what they want.

  30. ^ The signage is so generic that it is the exact sign which is over the cars ride on the main midway at Cedar Point.

  31. Here’s the station elevation views, for those that can’t find them. Don’t pay attention to the signage. It’s usually done generic for the drawings.

  32. I see it now. From the looks of things, it looks like there will be dispensers at the gas station. It talks about wiring for an emergency shutoff, which is a requirement for gas pumps. So the gas station will be a fuel and work space as well. Also, further review shows an all glass garage door on the front of the gas station. Maybe to give it the feel of an actual service Station?

  35. I went through the entire plans and that would appear correct. There’s a full size garage door and exterior door on the end of the building that faces Racer. Items of interest in the plans: 1.) station elevation looks amazing. It looks well themed to fit Coney Mall perfectly. 2.) There are ceiling fans in the electrical plan for the station, so you won’t roast in there. 3.) There’s a note for contractor to bid a color changing lighting package with controller for the”Gas Station” building. Maybe this will become part of the extended season rides? 4.) I didn’t see any mention of fueling the vehicles, or the items necessary to do it. There’s no listing I could find in the plans for a tank and pump setup, so that might be interesting.

  40. Thank u! Mama n tha bois lyk 2 c grate revoos lyk this 1! -Sam When it rains, the outdoor scare zones close and the scareactors are put inside the indoor houses. To review these as you did is not fair because you didn't get the full experience... all you saw were the props. And Don does not run the park, nor does he oversee the haunt attractions, as JubJester pointed out above. To call him out for a closed outdoor attraction on a rainy night is not an accurate or polite thing to do.

  42. Cassie, why didn't you come up and introduce yourself? We're always willing to include another KIC member and/or their friend in our riding group! Voyage alone was worth the 4+ hour drive. That coaster is downright out of control. I can't get enough. Riding on a wet track in total darkness with lightning in the sky was just out of this world amazing. By the way, another thanks to Adam, Phil, and Dave for letting me crash with you guys. I was planning to drive home that night. Adam and Phil saw how tired I was getting, said that they didn't want anything to happen to me, and insisted that I stay at their hotel room. That was really appreciated.. I didn't realize how tired I was until I sat down, and was out almost as soon as I laid down.

  44. Now here's the big thing I've been waiting for. I am so happy that I got to be a part of this.. and they took us ALL THE WAY BACK. Here, my dear friends, are your Voyage walkback photos. Enjoy. Voyage track in your face. 90 DEGREEEEEEES!! After this, Adam and I decided that we just had to ride it again, so off to Voyage we went. Then we decided to get our last park credit and ride Howler, the shaky Zamperla kiddie coaster. What's hilarious is that the kid in the front row yelled "I wanna go again!" so we got a re-ride. We headed back over to Legend, and then hit Voyage again. Voyage is well themed too. It feels like you're in a ship as soon as you walk into the queue. By this time, we were starting to wear out a little, especially since the temperature hit over 90 and the sun wasn't helping. I took some more photos of things in the park while we walked around with some drinks to cool off. Some of you might like this one. Welcome HoliWoo Nights? Epic win. More park theming. Not just at Kings Island anymore! While we were sitting down, Adam had to sneeze. So he grabs a park map and sneezes into it.. I almost died. I haven't let him live that down, and I'm not going to. We bought some souvenirs, and threw them all in my car since Dave (Adam and Phil's driver) was nowhere to be found. We re-entered the park and headed over to the picnic grove for our meal, and to wait until the park cleared out (we had ERT scheduled from 9 pm to midnight, park closes at 8:30). Here is where the night takes a bit of a scary twist. I got a text from my mom that some bad weather was on the way, and checked the radar on my phone. I was horrified to see a big mess of red and yellow heading straight for Holiday World. It started lightning and thundering, and Voyage was still running. We thought it was just storms until I get a frantic phone call from Dustin (pkiruler102) telling me there's a tornado warning in Mason and that he and his group are trapped in the FOF building. I flipped out and called everyone I knew in Cincy and told them to get to shelter now. The weather was getting worse and worse.. it started hailing to the point where we couldn't see 10 feet past the edge of the picnic building. I then get a frantic phone call from Kat telling me I need to be watching the sky like a hawk because there are reports of tornadoes by Holiday World. I checked my radar and felt the color drain from my face when I saw that the hail/thunderstorm that had just passed us had produced a tornado not too far away. I was at a point where I just wanted to cry. 1. I'm terrified of tornadoes, and 2. I was really upset thinking we wouldn't get ERT after I drove all this way. I was so depressed at this point, I didn't know what to do. It finally stopped around 9:45 pm, and they let us back in the park and started everything up for ERT. I was ecstatic. I did not want to come all this way and miss out on this. Adam and I were first in line for the front seat for my first night ride on Voyage. This is an experience I cannot describe. NOTHING beats a night ride on Voyage. NOTHING. We headed for Legend, and then Raven for a night ride, and then back to Voyage. We were informed that bad weather was in the area again, so we squeezed in 3 more night rides on Voyage. We could see a ghostly white thunderhead against the black night sky as we climbed the lift hill, and saw a fantastic bolt of lightning in the thunderhead as we dove into the first underground tunnel. Night rides on Voyage with lightning in the sky was an experience unlike anything I'd ever dreamed of. The lightning was getting closer than we liked, and we were starting to hear thunder. My eyes filled with tears as I realized we were really leaving. I blew a kiss at Voyage and told it goodbye. As we left the park, I knelt down, kissed my hand, and slapped it on the ground.. I couldn't help it. I fell in love with Holiday World. Ride count: Voyage - 10 Legend - 4 Raven - 4 Howler - 2 Pilgrims Plunge - 1 Liberty Launch - 1
