  1. I wish some members would understand the difference between constructive criticism and criticism. Meaning not getting so upset when other members try to help them. I understand the frustrations new members have not knowing how to do certain stuff. I was there. We all were. But when they act like the helper is the bad guy is just rude.

  2. I wish people would be less cavalier when discussing Son of Beast. I realize people have a lot of interest in it and their reasons why, but I feel the supporters often cherry pick from SOB's story and detract from the big problems it actually had, and that those reasons leave it as a big black mark on the park's history.

  5. Just completed survey about the naming of a very interesting proposed event for KI this summer. Sort of Dollywood festival if nations meets Mardi Gras with a light parade, international carnivals acts, international food, a street party at night etc etc etc. sounds like this is more than a “what would you think if we did this” type of survey since it was more about the names of the components of the events. This is the second major survey I have filled out in three days for them. All “festival and event related” so I think we can see where their heads are at right now. I see lots more going into entertainment budget and foods budget in the coming seasons. Maybe even more than major capital ride expenditures. Using short run event as a way to drive attendance more than “bigger, higher, faster”. VERY INTETESTING!

  6. http://amusementtoday.com/2018/12/international-ride-training-announces-the-2018-iroc-ride-operations-excellence-award-winning-parks/ It was just released today that Kings Island is one of four parks to receive the 2018 iROC Audit Excellence Award. Congrats to all of the ride ops for doing a great job and keeping everyone safe (Sorry if this has already been mentioned in another topic)

  7. I just feel like the victims of Son of Beast get glossed over too much when it comes to those who constantly bring up positives without acknowledging the negatives. I'm not saying to not talk about it, I'm just suggesting people be more comprehensive when discussing it. For all the talk about how much it was an 'engineering marvel', it still that led to a few dozen people being sent to hospitals, many of whom may never and/or be unable to ride a coaster again. I don't give it that kind of credit when clearly it didn't do what it was designed to do in a safe manner. Well designed things don't have those kinds of problems.

  8. Mason Ohio. I guess they believe no rerides are the lesser of the two evils liability wise..

  9. King Cobra and Ghoster for me because it was a unique stand-up coaster all in its own and I really wish it would return to Kings Island one day in some way shape or form

  10. The rumor that I have heard is that the plan is a park with a small number of highly themed worlds. It sounds to me like an Islands of Adventure 2.0, except only 4 or 5 total worlds, the big difference from IoA is I have heard the worlds are separate and will require that you enter into that world somehow and the sections will mostly not be visible from each other. Think about how Diagon Alley was done in Universal Orlando, except on even larger scales. For instance to get into the Mario section you will need to walk through a giant green pipe. The most obvious world is Mario, and it is featured heavily in the leaked concept art. We will likely see another expansion of the Wizarding World and it will likely be based on the Fantastic Beasts movies. Other rumors have included Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Kung Fu Panda, Universal Monsters, Jurassic World, Shrek, and How to train your Dragon. My guess is the monsters is likely, but I doubt Lord of the Rings or Star Trek will appear. Jurassic World is also pretty likely because they are already building attractions based on the property at other parks and I think that Universal will just leave the original in IoA alone and not convert it, although I do believe the coaster is coming soon.

  11. I've wondered why KI hasn't had more festivals. I think as Winterfest and Haunt have shown, events are great ways to get more people in the parks. The Peanuts Celebration was really well done this year as well. I know many parks (Canada's Wonderland, Dollywood, Epcot, etc.) do a variation on that theme so there is a lot of good things that they can do.

  12. You can multi quote (it's the plus next to quote under a post on desktop) and it is against the rules to multipost so avoid it in the future.

  13. CP experimented with bringing out the huts (like those used during KI Winterfest Artisians Village) and serving foods from various countries on the weekends this last season. It sounds like CF wants to expand the same concept to other parks like KI. I wish KI would have a Beer and BBQ event like CP does in June. Since CF has said they need to reduce their labor budget, I would be surprised it next season’s budget has lots of extra dollars (but of course depends upon how much Winterfest at the four parks influences the overall Q4 results).

  17. Diversion no. Enthusiasts created the "confusion" not the park. The park was just using Outpost 5 as theming. The logo has been around for years.

  19. Some people seem salty that @RuthlessAirtime got recognition instead of them. It's a bad look. Good job @RuthlessAirtime that was a cool concept you came up with. I don't know if it will be that tall, but I sure hope so!!

  21. All I asked was for people to read and abide by the TOS... I never mentioned your name or anyone else's as I wished to keep it anonymous. Threads have gotten derailed over the past couple of weeks with people's unnecessary arguments, like the one you're currently having, that don't contribute to the overall thread but rather one's that are personal that flood threads. I've been guilty of it which is why I have just given up on arguing and ignoring certain posts made by certain members as to not provoke further quarrels. The more people abide by the TOS, the more smoothly things run.

  25. One of the many reasons I like KIC is becuase for the most part it is Real. Members can share their Real experiences both positive and negative with few exceptions. I understand that some do not like to hear negative comments about something they feel passionate about but the alternative in my view is much worse. If every post reads like it came out of the PR Departement why even have a site like KIC? Just read the PR blog and Twitter feed. Those have their place but so do people’s critical take on their experiences. There is truth there. Sometimes it is highly biased but without different viewpoints what you are left with is very distorted. That is not what I want and it concerns me that there are those that do. There have been many occasions that my critical viewpoint on an issue at the park has been changed or at least softened by my interactions with other members here. I highly respect our moderating team and feel they get it right the vast majority of the time but I also do not agree with all the decisions and that is okay. The day people stop criticizing and complaining on this site is the day it becomes meaninless to the free expression of ideas. I hope that day never comes.

  26. The KIC community has changed a lot over the six years I have been a member here. Lately I have really missed seeing my original KIC friends (namely @Beastie1980, @ohiocolts, @Fire-Beast-OF FEAR, @Princess Sparkles, @LoraX, @Original and a few others whom I'm probably forgetting at the moment) post on here. They used to post here a lot and now I hardly see them anymore. I miss them. Thankfully there ARE friends who DO continue to post here, and I definitely appreciate that! @IndyGuy4KI, thank you for posting about the feedback. I would agree about the negative stuff seen on here. KIC isn't perfect nor will it ever be, but I would hate for it to come across as unwelcoming to any new members. I greatly enjoy seeing all the different (and sometimes controversial) opinions expressed here and I hope we as a community continue to help facilitate an environment where all of us can express our honest opinions without the fear of being shot down. Also: I know all of us feel like complaining every now and then; I pity the members who have had negative experiences, whether on here or at the park, but it also tends to kill the mood. I have been guilty of complaining too and I am doing my best to avoid complaining on here as much as I can. I still enjoy KIC after six years, even with its ups and downs!

  27. Spelling and grammar: You guys know how to write; I have no doubt about that. Please take the time to read over your posts before you post them to ensure that it's not confusing. This includes proper spelling, punctuation, and capitalization mainly. AND PLEASE DON'T YELL! Overuse of emotions - Use the emotions (smileys) as needed, but don't end your posts with more than one of them. That's not necessary, it junks up the forums. One-word responses - One-word responses are unacceptable for anything with the exception of the forum games. This is simply because it's unusual for a one-word response to actually have any merit or thought put into it. If you agree with someone, let us know why, don't just leave us hanging with "^agreed". This is also specifically hard on our dial up users who have to download the whole template constantly with really no content in it. Spamming the forums - If a new user is created and they make a mindless thread or post, we will take strong action to remove you from the community. a - not a real person b - will never have any merit to KIC and would simply disrupt the community that we all worked so hard for. This counts for non-KI related threads or posts, double posting (you have an EDIT function!), as well as one-word responses, intentionally bad information, or ignorance of previous posts. Respect - This is totally obvious so I'm not going into detail, but I will tell you this: if you get angry or frustrated, put out the flame thrower because a post that's disrespectful to another user, group, or individual is going to constitute a warning. Due to the board's history of political turbulence, general political talk is NOT welcome on the boards unless it is unbiased and DIRECTLY related to the matter at hand (i.e. Local Senators meet at KI). Threads or posts that the staff deems to be at risk of causing disrespect or result of people feeling threatened will be removed by the staff. Signatures- Please limit signature banners to 468x60 pixels or smaller. You may only have one signature banner image. Also, please limit text to about 6 lines or less. 28. I dont want to be impolite and not respond, but I've said all that I will on the subject. @139Signal27 What is this Oktoberfest "theming" that you speak of? A food court called Festhaus and a tucked away viking ship ride?
