  1. You just need to show up when @King Ding Dong isn't in the park.

  2. I think we're gonna have it animal/fiction themed. Since 2014 Cedar Fair has added major coasters based on folklore and fiction like Banshee, Mystic Timbers, Rougarou, Valravn, GateKeeper, Copperhead Strike, etc. I still think we might get some Centurion teasing but I think it'll be something along the lines of Banshee and Mystic Timbers naming.

  3. I swear if it has the work "Force" or "Striker" in it, I'm gonna switch to Six Flags. "Twisted Timber Striker Force 370 Coming To King's Island 2020"

  6. Would like to see the Coney Mall sign return - when the concrete walkway was enlarged several years ago, the sign disappeared. Creative ways like at Haunt with portable concrete anchors or large flower pots could hold it

  12. I am hoping that Coney BBQ will add corn pudding to their menu for the season. Oh, and maybe I can get to step foot into the Rivertown FreeStyle station on more than 5% of my visits.

  13. Have I missed something? Isn't the area still called Coney Mall?

  14. In the exact opposite thought, that’s all minor. The biggest issue is dealing with the guests. You don’t want everyone concentrated into one area. AZ was miserable when I was younger and it had SoB and everything else jammed back there. It wasn’t comfortable or fun, because of the amount of people. It’s a much better plan to diversify your park and spread the crowd around. X-base needs the development to turn it into its own area. There are 3 coasters in AZ, 3 in Rivertown, 3 in Coney Mall, 1 in Octoberfest and 1 in X-base. You can’t expand Octoberfest, but X-base is prime for development. A nice new coaster, amenities, concessions and maybe a flat or two and you have a whole other area that’s been decidedly underdeveloped and underused since it was built.

  15. Yes! Me and my dad will be there for sure! This will be my first coaster event at KI since we did BeastBuzz back in 2004(The Beast's 25th anniversary year), so it seems kinda fitting that we'll be there to celebrate The Beast's 40th.

  16. There actually was a Halloween themed cirque show in 2014 (I think) that took the place of Hot Blooded for that year. It was the same production company that has done the other cirque shows at KI. Unfortunately for many the show failed to captivate the audiences the way that the other cirque shows did. Ironically, "Skeleton Crew," the show with the same name at Cedar Point is well beloved and is a completely different show. In a perfect world, I'd love to see them bring back Dead Awakening - which was the show before Hot Blooded. I don't think they have the audacity to do that. Nearly anything would be better than what they had last year. If I wanted to watch a dumpster fire I'd go downtown.

  17. I do agree that it does seem as though the Haunts have been toned down a bit in some aspects to be more appealing to a wider range of people. I think Haunt/Fearfest was never really meant to be family-oriented (hence why they have the stuff during the daytime), but if this is what they're going for, maybe they could have some kiddie haunts over in Planet Snoopy, or something along those lines that's "scary" enough for kids who actually want to participate in Haunt, and then make the actual Haunts more adult-oriented like they've been in the past.

  18. There definitely has been a transition from an adult theme of years past to a more family friendly theme that occurred in 2018 (even my friends that attended commented that 2018 was much more family friendly) - I would image 2019 will bring even more family friendly events, shows, and scareless zones. My opinion is supported by the movement in the International Showplace from Dead Awakenings (remember the sheer white teddy nighty costume) to Hot Blooded (lots of blood, vampires, and scantily designed dancer costumes) to Haunted Homecoming (which was very poorly done in my opinion) that was so lame like a G family movie with nothing really adult themed and you could snooze through. (Go back and watch the YouTube videos of all three shows over the years). And Club Blood with its shirtless vampire men transitioned into a more family haunt of Blackout a few years back.

  19. yeah I think it will be a creature of some sort. Nothing with Force in it. Not will Mill Force in the same state.

  20. I would prefer to have less- actor houses where there the scare factor comes from props and the illusion of "who's there?" I've been to a few attractions that have no people whatsoever, but rather had creepy props and some animated figures which made me kept thinking someone was going to jump out at any given moment. Jumpscares are quick ways to scare people but they aren't as "intimate" and people get over them quick. If they de-actor some of the houses and add some more props it might add to the creepy factor.

  21. Years ago my daughter and I were in the park and after buying lunch and scanning Gold Pass we 'earned" a free ride for 2 on the Go-carts that have since been removed. Just little things like that and discounts for food and games. I "earned" a free flight on EXtreme Skyflyer once, that was cool.

  24. The main corporate offices for Cedar Fair are in Sandusky, although they do have some corporate offices in Charlotte.

  25. It says its a corporate position, based out of Charlotte. Like Winterfest, I'd bet it starts with a park or two and gets rolled out over a few years.

  26. Agreed. Right now, they seem to be so focused on quantity, which I understand to some extent, that some of the houses are very limited on Scareactors. They are also very short. I would much rather have some longer houses (with interior and exterior elements) and have a longer wait, than to walk through a Killmart or Wolfpack that take 2 or 3 minutes to walkthrough.

  27. I think a refocus of quality vs. quantity would be beneficial. There are too many mazes in my my opinion. I’d rather see fewer well executed mazes with more personnel than more mazes that suffer the same fate as Killmart as described above. It would also be cool to have each area of the park be specifically themed or turned into a scarezone. Something like this was done years ago during the Fear Fest days with Rivertown being converted into “Sleepy Hollow. I thought that was tight. The return of Route 666 with the new Tiques would be a no brainer. Winterfest has proven that they do have the ability to go pretty immersive with their events, so if I had one wish for Haunt 2019 I guess it would be for it to get a bit of an overhaul to reflect the level of quality set by Winterfest.

  28. Pathways that cycle back onto themselves don’t fix the problem. More pathways just makes it more confusing and makes people mad when the pathways aren’t direct. AZ’s problem is what it always is. Lots of thrill rides concentrated in one area. Everyone wants to be there. I truly believe Cedar Fair realized this to be a problem when they bought KI. I think Firehawk was a holdover until they could really spend the time and money needed for X Base. Diamondback went into Rivertown, MT Rivertown, WindSeeker Coney Mall, Banshee into AZ after SoB removal. Cars back into Coney Mall. I think there is an overall plan here, I just think that’s a close secret. I wouldn’t be shocked if at some point an all new area made an appearance. The existing areas are quickly becoming fully developed, if not already.

  29. Sure, that's a consideration. Though, I think expanding Action Zone can solve a lot of the issues there. The main problem with AZ is that every path is a dead end. If the park expanded into Timberwolf, there would be a circular path along the perimeter of Congo. The park could also expand the path from Kings Island Theater to Invertigo. If they really wanted to get crazy, they could open a path from AZ to Oktoberfest along the Banshee side of Delirium. In reality though, AZ's biggest problem is the bottleneck between Ice Cream Zone and the seating area.

  30. I'm not disagreeing with you, X-Base needs to grow and I think we'll be seeing that very soon. Action Zone is often crowded and sometimes its nice to have a little more room, even if it means adding some more attractions along with it.

  32. Much like The Beast Unleashed video I made, I just really want to see the ride use that hill behind Firehawk to reach blistering speeds, if only for a short while. Based on the topography I imported into my project from Google, with a hill around 300 feet you could use the existing terrain behind it to do a Beast style run down that hill and reach insane speeds, and still keep costs low by hugging the ground. During the first iteration of my design, I took the track all the way down to the little Miami river. With a 380 foot drop, the thing was reaching 115mph near the river. It was lunacy. It's really the perfect opportunity to break the 100mph Giga speed barrier. You use the terrain to go insanely fast, and then climb back up the hill after a turnaround, which conveniently bleeds momentum back to a more reasonable 90ish mph once you reach station height again. Both of these things keep your budget from being insane and cut track length down a bit, without demanding an aggressive midcourse brake run or impractically huge airtime hills. I will be more than satisfied if it does two things: Breaks 350 feet for first drop, and then makes a run down the hill to go even faster. If it has those two things, I'll be grateful for whatever we get.

  33. I agree, I do not want vest restrains on a Giga.
    1 point
  34. Probably not. In which case I would ask for no inversions on a giga. I much prefer the comfort and open feeling provided by the standard B&M clamshell restraint across the lap.

  35. It could be all of the above. I do remember Tony C stating it would be the biggest year in the park's history. So we will find out!!

  36. I think they're gonna add a new section. Its been rumored for a while that they're going to add a boardwalk area reminiscent of Coney Island and other old school coasters. With the park removing their onsite dorms all attention is gonna be on that area during the 2019 season. I don't think they'll necessarily need a new coaster for their anniversary. If it were me I would focus more on appearance and drawing more families to the park- I think they have plenty of coasters to keep the enthusiasts happy for a while.

  37. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/cedar-fair-reports-revenues-through-july-4th-holiday-weekend-300678918.html While I don’t have specific numbers regarding the 2018 Haunt budget, it’s been discussed that numbers through 7/4 resulted in a much scaled back event. The results were pretty evident. That’s my opinion anyway.

  38. Haunt 2018 was pitiful due to budget restraints. It was the most disappointing Haunt that I’ve been too. It’s really only up from there, I guess. I feel like th focus now is shifting to Winterfest, which in my opinion is a good thing. So, we’ll see.
