  2. If people aren't coming for their current lineup, adding a Giga isn't going to move the needle as much as you think it is...

  3. It is looking quite nice. I can`t wait to take my son on it this year! He loves cars (Hotwheels are all over our house), so he will surely love this ride.

  4. I think that this topic is different enough from the other threads on gigas that this can stay for now. Don’t be so harsh on new members. I am sure that Number5IsAlive is now aware of the search feature.

  5. This is what a giga could look like from KI drive!

  6. I don't know if it has been discussed yet on this forum (and I don't want to search through all 140 pages) but has anyone talked about the valley behind X-base. It is ~50-60 ft and if the first drop went down there we have some possibility to have a record-breaking drop. Think about it. If the valley is 60ft and your lift hill is 340ft (only 15ft taller than fury) then you have a strata drop on your hands. I had already built a concept of this and it is on our channel here: New Kings Island Giga! StraGiga 405 (Speculation Video)

  7. Do you want me to message you and ask if it's OK before starting a thread next time?

  8. I didn't bring it up man if you look back......all I said was what? where?.. as you can tell it was a joke. Also I did not know of this " inside joke". Moving on to stay on topic...….. People like silver2005 are the reason I don't like posting much on this board. You didn't do anything wrong Maverick44. You didn't even bring up Intamin. Not every single post in a topic will be exclusively about the topic at hand.

  9. I've shared on Point Buzz, but notice the boat at the dock on the far left side of the image....hmmm..

  10. Also in this pic is probably our first official view of the Firehawk-less sky behind Racer.

  11. Samesies haha I use mine to also hit up CP many many times a year as well as 1 other CF park each season.

  12. I hear ya! I don't even care if it's a "destination park" or not. We live 3-hours away but prefer it over CP, for whatever reasons. We'll keep getting season passes whether they build a Giga or not. But I hope they do...eventually. :-)

  13. I understand. Haha I just think maybe in the coming years if they want to add a hotel into the park like Cedar Point has. They could make bank on that as well. That way the park can offer thing's like ERT for hotel guests who do not have season passes. I agree and disagree that KI is a destination park currently haha

  14. Every destination has a budget! LOL.

  15. Sorry I was thinking real destination parks like Disney and Universal. I think if KI gets a giga it will be a destination park for enthusiasts like ourselves but maybe not family's with little ones. Idk maybe I am wrong. I just think of a destination having different options to stay in the park at their own hotels and so on.

  17. First portion of the map revealed today. Seems really cool if you ask me. It is for sure a choose your own adventure. I think this may turn out to be pretty cool. Slightly thrilling as well if the bridge bounces in the water. Don't fall into Snake Rover Swamp! https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/the-first-map-reveal

  18. I just remember seeing Intimidator on Travel Channel back in the day. It was the Dale Earnhart ride, it was huge, it was getting lots of press. But that was a crowded time for Giga's, and so I think it was probably a "destination" for some, but not everybody. I still think if KI built a record-breaker it would turn a lot of heads. KI is very well-known, and its proximity to Cedar Park only enhances its "destination" status, I think.

  19. I think they stopped using the Rivertown side (known as the Ohio Overland Auto Livery) around 1999 or so. It was one of the first years that I had a season pass (which was in 1998).

  20. Whoops, I meant to say this year. Edit: I fixed the original post. Good catch, @Maverick44!

  22. We have podcast number four recorded already. I am in the process of editing it now. Look for it soon. We also have part of another podcast recorded, just need to finish recording that one. I do like the idea of an in park trip report/walk through. It might take some coordination and work to pull off, but would be a nice podcast.

  23. That's a great concept! My only critique layout wise is that b&m usually uses sharper banks to avoid awkward G's with the exception of Fury's turn around. Also I know that probably had to do with Planet Coater's smoothing system. Great layout tho!

  24. I would love to have at least one tunnel that is really dark inside during the day. Similar to The Beast, to where you can see inside, but not very well.

  25. I'm going to Winter Warm-Up this weekend! Got a new gimbal to get some good photography shots of the trains as well as track work given we go on tour. It's suppose to be a very nice day.

  26. This article confirms there is RMC involvement and provides links to permits found for what is being done to Gwazi, though, no stats released. https://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2019/02/18/busch-gardens-will-celebrate-60th-anniversary-with-free-beer-pin-trading-and-coaster-news

  27. Hey @chugh43 I have one done lol Iron Beast - With a vert loop. First ever on a giga and tunnels!

  28. I think I recall “stats” being leaked from the European coaster club magazine first drop or something along those lines. I don’t really know how reliable it is.

  29. @Maverick44 That is where they are moving Millennium Force to. Obviously, I'm not serious.

  30. I am not 100% certain this has been discussed, but I would love to see some kind of tunnel or two for the giga we may or may not get. I'd love it to have a portion go underground, maybe have a walkway to the ride over that portion similar to Fury's tunnel. I of course would love another tunnel, maybe to go with the lay of the land. Thinking more and more about it, I'd love for a hunter green colored track with brown supports or a purple track and a black support combo. Where are the artists in here? Can y'all make some mock ups for color combos on Giga track? lol

  31. There is. When Hanna Barbera went the way of Geauga Lake from Kings Island, they still had Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle - which operated on a different license from the Sally Dark Ride Corporation. The problem was, Scooby couldn't exist in the same "universe" as Nickelodeon, so the compromise they were able to come up with was to say that it was on I-Street. That just hasn't really changed.

  32. I don't think Kings Island "needs" a Giga Coaster to succeed and it's more of a "want" than anything. I think to fill the gaps in KI's ride lineup like a new modern launch coaster like Copperhead Strike or Blue Fire is far more important than getting a Giga. In Park Experience upgrades like special events and food are far more important in my opinion right now rather than a new roller coaster right now, and I think there will be more bang for the buck there from a business standpoint too.

  34. One of the things if they have removed the trees from IS is I hope they were able relocate some of them within the park if they were able to be relocated. Action Zone and the area over between BLSC and Diamondback could benefit from mature trees.

  35. Currently there are HUGE DEEP holes dug all down the sides of the fountains. They are installing hydraulic lift tables that will automatically lift pre-lit trees into place for Winterfest - thus expediting the labor intensive set up. Also, all the "windows" on International Street are being replaced with dual-pane glass that will allow them to randomly select "fog/ice/frost/tint" setting with the touch of wireless connection. Finally, several of the shops have had their false "forced perspective" second stories removed and they are building viewing platforms on the tops for the new light/water show on the fountains. Access to these platforms will be granted via a "VIP Diamond/Emerald & Ruby Pass" the park will begin selling next season for an additional $300 per pass. Its a massive undertaking- and the place is a mess right now - that's why there's no pictures. Had ya for a second didnt I? (and for the more... ummm gullible readers... that was all fake. I have no earthly idea what all they are doing... LOL)

  36. Phantom Theater was a great ride. But I still remember riding the Smurf`s Enchanted Voyage when I was really young. I remember being super mad that Kings Island decided to remove the ride and replace it with a "dumb" haunted house. Funny that now I would love to have that "dumb" haunted house back.

  37. The park owes the enthusiast community absolutely nothing.

  38. Again, the photos that I posted from the plane were not a "break the news", or to "know before anyone else does", as there were obviously pictures taken from the ground before hand. Why is it insane to want to fly around the park? Its public airspace. It is no different than you wanting to fly around the Grand Canyon or The Badlands. People like to sightsee. You can't say that you don't like too either. Now, what is the difference between peeking through a construction fence to get pictures, versus being in a plane? Because I am sure you have looked through the fence into the KMAA site during Haunt/Winterfest. I do agree. Trespassing is NEVER ok. And those who do it should be held fully accountable, by whatever means it takes. Now, tell me what exactly what was leaked that you are having a fit about? Going back to what I have said. Drones are a big no. The park does have specific rules about them. But seems like some people have an issue with aircraft as well. I haven't heard the park complain once about any of the pictures I had. So, they must not have an issue with them. I'm sure @IndyGuy4KI can vouch for me on that.

  39. Personally I do not see legal aerial photography any differently than when members of this site go and drive past Clermont Steel to take photos, or when permits and other government documents are posted. I have no idea how people can justify one and then complain about another. I see zero difference standing on the side of a road takings pictures of track, or sitting in a plane taking pictures of the park. The poster who took the pictures from the plane has stated they never flew over the park, and I would like to think something similar can be said for the individuals taking pictures at Clermont Steel. I am curious if the posters asking to respect the park and wait will have the same standards when the next coaster is built at the park.

  40. I think there needs to be a class taught in school that illustrates how to determine validity won the internet. Lesson #1 If the video has a disclaimer, read it. Lesson #2 If you see it on a fan page, but not on KI's official page, it is not legit.

  41. I'd be less worried about spreading the word on here, lol. There is over a thousand people on Facebook who thought it was real. I'm pretty sure everyone on this site knew it wasn't real.

  42. It's still not too late to add theming to the railroad that would tie in to the Mystic Timbers story. In the story, the railroad was meant to ship out the lumber cut by the company. There's no way the park would never be able to add this much theming to the train but this was the idea I came up with. Some of the obvious takeaways are the large boats, excessive buildings, and vehicles. However, it can't be said that the park couldn't maybe add some large stacks of lumber or timber alongside the track, warning signs and maybe some abandoned equipment. Maybe have the western town re-themed and overrun with vines.
