I’m okay with the pedestals going but I wouldn’t be thrilled if they painted the bottom black like KD’s. I think it looks kind of gross.4 points

I do not think that the pedestals were out dated. If true that they are going, I will be a little disappointed. They added a sense of elegance and grandeur to the fountains that I thought was lacking at both Kings Dominion and Canda`s Wonderland`s fountains.4 points

Yay! The outdated pedestals are going. The fountains at Kings Dominion and Canada’s Wonderland look cleaner with the jets coming out of the water. KIs seems it will be even better!2 points

It’s a huge building that takes up tons of space (and offers tons of storage space for the park, and room for a maze during one of their most popular yearly events) that was not cheap to build nor would it be cheap to replace it with some other maze and/or storage building. Why the big desire to completely ditch that investment and remaining usefulness by tearing it down?1 point

I have heard these jokes, but I just found it funny that someone renamed it to that on Google, but then again, earlier this year It said that Kings Island was permanently closed1 point

I actually hadn’t really noticed it at all my first couple seasons back to the park (2014 & 15). It was the constant harping on it by a small subsection of commenters on KIC that caused me to actually look for/at it. I don’t get why it is somehow more deserving of ire than any of the buildings alongside Racer (and the big one at the turnaround), the offices at the end of Woodstock Express, or the greenhouses alongside Bat. Is it because it was once a ride that people think it should either be constantly accessible or in use? I mean to ask, was there this much anger about the building when TR:TR was in it? Or is it simply not being allowed inside that is so upsetting?1 point

They seem to start with the station/storage shed track, so that won't tell you much. Also, they don't lay them outside, all in one piece, nor are they put out sequentially, so there's no way to tell the shape of the arc by the pieces laying on the ground.1 point

To be completely honest, seeing it doesn't even phase me...it's one of those unless my view is specifically moved toward it, I pay it no mind.1 point

Yes. There are some new pieces. But they are not painted/primed yet. Most of what you see are supports.1 point

It's because as per your example, the government has no regulatory oversight on dressing rooms. They do (through the Department of Agriculture) have oversight on amusement rides as a matter of public safety. http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/1711.551v1 says 1711.551 Duties of riders. (A) No rider shall fail to do any of the following: (1) Heed all written warnings and directions that require a person to meet certain conditions or to refrain from certain actions regarding an amusement ride, as determined by rule by the director of agriculture; (2) Refrain from behaving or acting in any manner that may cause injury or contribute to injuring himself or other people while occupying an amusement ride. (B) The director, in accordance with Chapter 119. of the Revised Code, shall adopt, and may amend and rescind, rules governing the types of warnings and directions required to be followed pursuant to this section. Rules adopted by the director determining the types of printed warnings and directions shall include specifications as to the character, size, and print size of such warnings and directions. At a minimum, the rules shall require the following: (1) The warnings and directions prominently disclose the penalties imposed if a rider violates section 1711.551 of the Revised Code; (2) The warnings and directions be based upon the standards of ASTM or the American national standards institute, or any other principles, tests, or standards of nationally recognized technical or scientific authorities that research the proper use of each amusement ride and the potential injuries that occur or are unique to each amusement ride if it is used improperly; (3) The owner of the amusement ride display the warnings and directions in a public and conspicuous place on or near the ride. The penalty is covered by http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/1711.99 (C) Whoever violates section 1711.551 of the Revised Code is guilty of a minor misdemeanor; on each subsequent offense such person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.1 point

I think Yukon Striker had a lot more obstacles for construction that it required more time to build. The underwater tunnel and working around Vortex are prime examples1 point

Are you referring to the ~4 pieces of track that they had to do a year early to go through the tunnel under the lake?1 point

I love this news!!! Some of my fondest Kings Island memories are attending Fearfest and coming back to the campground to roast marshmallows around a nice warm fire.1 point

I’m going with someone could literally walk around with those all day and most wouldn’t know what is going on. Security isn’t going to figure it out. I’ve been questioned about both my Keyport and the Challenge coin I carry with me. If they can’t understand those items they aren’t going to figure out sunglasses with an onboard camera. When AR glasses become a thing are they going to question those too?1 point

He may be wrong though. Theres also the creepo who takes photos of people’s families at KI and tries to sell them to the family. He posted on Twitter that he was working on a project with the staff at KI and when I reached out to them none of them knew what he was talking about because - you guessed it - he was blocked.1 point

The fountains at KD and CW look kind of boring to me, nothing to give it character. The pedestals do that at the KI fountains, and makes you feel like you at KI, fits perfectly for the theme of International Street.1 point

Rivertown will not have a great feeling as long as that hideous warehouse that was tomb raider is standing1 point

So fun fact: the park map said “Dodgems” until like 2008 (conflicting with the ride signs) and was like that for years until someone noticed the discrepancy.1 point

Still wondering why a brewhouse wasn't put in Oktoberfest. The park truly does care about the original theme of each area anymore.1 point

If the track was somehow used to reference Firehawk the way that the eternal flame in Banshee's queue references Son of Beast, that would be a cool tribute. What I loved most about Firehawk when it was around was that it stood as a relic from the early 2000's, like still having a working Windows XP computer. Even when I couldn't ride it anymore, it was still cool to look at through a historical lens (I also realized how compact the layout was). I'm also interested to see that area now that Flight of Fear is once again the sole coaster back there. 29 more days...1 point

Worst scare attraction in the park this year. Short staffed and the employees would rather talk to their friends then do their job.1 point
