  1. I can't wait for the decoding 2020 thread where we can't discuss anything until the park announces the ride in August.

  2. Double post: This has been brought up before, but if the decision to remove Firehawk was indeed made in the middle of Summer like has been claimed, the new coaster probably won't directly interact with the old Firehawk location. You don't just make major changes last minute like that with $30+ million dollar projects. This would have been planned out for years. Minor changes like queue, lockers, or support buildings might get changed that late in the game, but I think B&M would have had a fit having to go re-engineer plans that late in the process.

  3. They announced Banshee 8 months before it's April 2014 opening. Carowinds, another Cedar Fair park, announced it's humongous giga project 7 months before it's opening. What on earth makes you think this project would be announced 13 months before it opens or that they'd release more info on it? Nothing is saying this has to go to the Firehawk spot. It says B&M is building something at KI. B&M builds coasters. KI is getting a coaster. The Firehawk thing is just a strong coincidence and a likely landing spot. Just like they tore down SOB and the go cart track right before using that location to build Banshee.

  4. Ok well per TOS you would need to share your source if you make a claim like that.

  5. I think people forget that dollars (i.e.sales) are what matter to a business. The marketing focus right now would be to drive up sales of tickets/passes for the 2019 season. For the park to talk about or reveal anything which wouldn't be available until 2020 doesn't make much sense yet. Especially before the 2019 opening day. The focus from marketing right now is what is coming in 2019. See the blog and social media posts... Once activity becomes too hard to hide, then it makes sense to start teasing.

  6. We literally have documents filed with the county in August with 2018, 2109, 2020 as dates and B&M listed as a contractor. How is that not a confirmation? The county uses a much higher standard than "the park hasn't posted anything on Facebook about it." The only logical explanation is people like to play the "I'm going to be the contrarian on a message board" game.

  7. That's the only reason I haven't posted them here. Just to keep the park happy. But, I wont give my opinion on that.

  8. This conversation already has its' own thread. But I will just enjoy what information we get as it comes. I think it is common courtesy to abide with the park's wishes on a public forum. Private exchanges, I have no issues with.

  9. I wise man once told me, pay attention to what they do, not what they say. Prior to or coinciding with Banshee, KI upgraded a restaurant, spruced up some rides and re themed Flight Deck to The Bat. Prior to Mystic Timbers, KI upgraded a restaurant (Potato Works), spruced up some rides (Water water canyon entrance) In recent seasons, they've added a restaurant, spruced up a ride (retracking part of The Racer) and added a ride (tiques) They've spent the last couple of seasons sprucing up and doing work around the area they expect high traffic for their next major installment, the kind of ride that will get people to come to KI for the first time since they came to ride Mysty, and they want that area of the park to look as fresh as possible for their new toy.

  10. Look at what has happened in the past. Plus, legal documents. Also, I never said it was confirmed to occupy that space. If you want to see more for yourself, go up in an airplane...

  11. I believe we saw land clearing for Diamondback in late 2007 but I could be wrong on that. I would think the site should ramp up in activity here soon if we are getting a new coaster in 2020

  15. I thought there was a fairly recent satellite image on this thread that showed the Firehawk plot of land with the coaster being completely gone, but I cannot find it anymore so must have been removed

  16. Honestly, at the rate Cedar Fair is removing Vekoma coasters, I cannot see them working together on an attraction for the old Crypt building, and I think we should consider other options too

  17. Apparently they are now not allowing pics of the Firehawk site either. Will CSF pics be next? What about legally obtained site plans? Censorship is a slippery slope.

  18. I may be wrong but is there a difference between speculating what giga is coming and where it is. Once we know a coaster is coming I do not see anything wrong with seeing pics of the construction site. We know what we are getting. I think this may be a lets not share the updated to ITL street because obviously the park wants to keep it under wraps. The park can't help people seeing track being made a CSF. Idk im just talking now lol

  19. I am still so amazed that people say when it is running haha. I go to CP roughly 10 times a season and its never closed unless its raining haha. It has my heart and its amazing

  20. @fryoj That would be correct, according to what the mods told me beforehand. I may post it to my IG later. Same username.

  22. On the topic on Blood Drums, I've been in contact with last year's fire dancer's wife and she said that they're going to Blood Drums again this year which makes me really excited! His fire breathing was amazing!

  23. @Cedar Fair Fanboy the problem with this conversation is that you're trying to present this ride as a kind of end-all be-all kind of ride when there are plenty of other options out there to consider.

  24. Other than the first drop, Valravn is pretty meh. I would like to see CF start working more with Mack Rides and RMC. Carowinds got Copperhead Strike. So maybe Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

  27. This article has me wondering if Cedar Fair has plans to get into the hotel game near Kings Island. The grass patch at the corner of Kings Island Drive and Western Row wold seem to be an ideal spot with easy freeway access with the new ramps. Other investors have already put up a new hotel off Kings Island Drive and then there is interest in putting in a campground so there must be data showing a demand for more rooms in the area. I expect the demand would not just be vacationers, but business travelers as well with the increasing investment in commercial facilities along Innovation Way. Something like what they are doing down at Carrowinds would seem a perfect fit.

  30. You can definitely tell where they got the inspiration for the BBQ place on the inside. I’ll miss Midway Market but I’ve said for years that KI - and through extension, CP - needs a good Italian restaurant. It’s my favorite type of food and it’s grossly underrepresented at most parks.

  34. It's because as per your example, the government has no regulatory oversight on dressing rooms. They do (through the Department of Agriculture) have oversight on amusement rides as a matter of public safety. http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/1711.551v1 says 1711.551 Duties of riders. (A) No rider shall fail to do any of the following: (1) Heed all written warnings and directions that require a person to meet certain conditions or to refrain from certain actions regarding an amusement ride, as determined by rule by the director of agriculture; (2) Refrain from behaving or acting in any manner that may cause injury or contribute to injuring himself or other people while occupying an amusement ride. (B) The director, in accordance with Chapter 119. of the Revised Code, shall adopt, and may amend and rescind, rules governing the types of warnings and directions required to be followed pursuant to this section. Rules adopted by the director determining the types of printed warnings and directions shall include specifications as to the character, size, and print size of such warnings and directions. At a minimum, the rules shall require the following: (1) The warnings and directions prominently disclose the penalties imposed if a rider violates section 1711.551 of the Revised Code; (2) The warnings and directions be based upon the standards of ASTM or the American national standards institute, or any other principles, tests, or standards of nationally recognized technical or scientific authorities that research the proper use of each amusement ride and the potential injuries that occur or are unique to each amusement ride if it is used improperly; (3) The owner of the amusement ride display the warnings and directions in a public and conspicuous place on or near the ride. The penalty is covered by http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/1711.99 (C) Whoever violates section 1711.551 of the Revised Code is guilty of a minor misdemeanor; on each subsequent offense such person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.

  35. So Their is more about that. I draw the layout of the Crypt building and made it so what will it look like. Each shows will be about 4 min. Their will have 2 group of 78 people inside the building. 1st group goes in and the 2nd group will go in once the 1st goes in the main show (madhouse part). That's makes the total ride time with safety checks is about 21/23 min. Is like a show at Kings Island, but as a attraction. How do you like that idea.

  37. I think it’s a good system. The park knows what’s safe. The state does not.
    1 point
  38. Correct. The law does not state anything except you must follow all verbal, written, and posted instructions. It’s not illegal to POV, it’s illegal to violate park rules.

  39. The fountains at KD and CW look kind of boring to me, nothing to give it character. The pedestals do that at the KI fountains, and makes you feel like you at KI, fits perfectly for the theme of International Street.

  40. I do not think that the pedestals were out dated. If true that they are going, I will be a little disappointed. They added a sense of elegance and grandeur to the fountains that I thought was lacking at both Kings Dominion and Canda`s Wonderland`s fountains.

  45. I don't want to get too excited or overreact, but from this 1/1000th scale cartoon map, it seems obvious that this new fountain is going to rival the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas.

  47. Just received the press release. A new restaurant will open at Kings Island for the 2019 season, which begins April 20. Building on the themed Rivertown area of the park, Miami River Brewhouse will be located directly across from the park’s newest coaster, Mystic Timbers. The menu, personally crafted by Kings Island’s Executive Chef, James Major, will feature taps from the finest local breweries as well as appetizers, salads, gourmet sandwiches and premium burgers. Selections will include: Pull Apart Bread – cheddar, garlic butter, scallions with beer mustard and Sri-Rancha (appetizer) That’s One Big Pretzel – Bavarian twist with bacon jam and beer cheese (appetizer) Texas Bahn Mi – smoked beef, cucumber, carrot, cilantro with Sri-Mayo served on French bread London’s Bridge – fried cod, cheese, tartar sauce served with super slaw Big Bacon Burger – a double patty burger with Havarti cheese, candied onion, bacon jam and sliced bacon Impossible Burger – vegan burger with herb mustard, cucumber, lettuce, tomato and onion “In 2018 we opened Coney Bar B Que, featuring ribs, pulled pork, rotisserie chicken and other barbecue favorites,” said James Major. “This season, with the addition of Miami River Brewhouse, we’re continuing to build on a dining experience that guests will talk about long after their visit to Kings Island.” Miami River Brewhouse will be included in the park’s dining plans. A Busy Offseason for Kings Island Kings Island’s construction crews have been busy in the offseason. In addition to the new Miami River Brewhouse, when the park opens on April 20 guests will experience a remagined International Street, as well as the brand new Kings Mills Antique Autos and celebrate the fortieth anniversary of The Beast wooden roller coaster. In February, the park announced the construction of One Team Village, a new associate village with dormitories opening in May.
