  1. Not much to report with the construction progress, however I think it’s fair to assume that the land clearing has been completed.

  2. I tried to find other B&M CAD layouts, but those are not easy to come by. Here are a few coaster layouts that I found online, just to compare to the leaked one that we have seen. Son of Beast: Image Source Shambhala (in green -- not sure what the red coaster is) - PortAventura Image Source Copperhead Strike - Carowinds: Image Source Obviously, the most similar one here is Shambahala, since it is a B&M Hyper. This makes me believe that the leak is real. The CAD design is basically the same for the two coasters. The most notable differences that I see are: the chain lift section doesn't look like the Shambhalas drawing and the layout is colored. This makes me believe the leaked plan is meant for the station construction, evidenced by its colored features, which are not present anywhere else except for the access roads. Another thing to note is the length of each portion. KI's leaked layout is much more stretched out when comparing it to Shambhala's layout, and the length of that ride is 5,131'. Also, I apologize for posting three large pictures, but I thought it'd be a good way to show how different a coasters layout plan can look.

  3. Sure.... coasters, coasters, giga, giga, hoping, wishing, darning, cursing. In other words, nothing noteworthy, just more speculation, hoping and darning of the leaked plans.

  7. If only there was some kind of roller coaster database... we could abbreviate it as RCDB! Ah, great idea! Anyways, I ran a search based on ride height, not drop, for heights between 200-299 feet. Only looking for existing or upcoming attractions, not defunct or removed ones (sorry SoB). As of today, globally, per RCDB, there are only 8 parks that have at least 2 different coasters between the heights of 200-299 (Busch Gardens Tampa, Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Point, Energylandia, Ferrari World, Fuji-Q, Hersheypark (I'm assuming their new hyper is less than 300ft), and SFOT). I found it odd that SFMM didn't make the cut, as I thought X2 was in this category, but its height is under 200ft whereas its drop is over 200ft, Anyways, looking at these 8 parks, no single park has 2x 200ft+ coasters of the same make and model. Canada's Wonderland is actually the closest at anything as both Behemoth and Yukon are from B&M, but that's where the similarities end, followed by Ferrari World as both of their 200ft+ coasters are Intamin (but one is a shuttle, so some may not count that in the 200ft+ category). CP gets the glory here with having the most coasters in the 200-299ft range.

  9. You usually don't need a laser level to do a gravel lot for staging. I think this is a building pad. Using that shambhala layout I got 4350 vs the 4650 for Project X. On a straight percentage basis, that puts Project X at 5485. Almost Identical to Leviathan, Thats without adding more for taller hills, so it could be longer than Levi. Also comparing, the detail of that layout is too similar to Project X to discount it as a fan created fake.

  10. i found these on cincybroscoasters365 instagram page.. i have no clue if this is in connection to the clearing but it is very interesting nonetheless it seems there is quite a bit of activity going on between The Racer and Flight of Fears building.

  12. I'm speaking out of turn here, but the footings blueprints give us two hard numbers (lift angle at 40deg, and distance between main lift backbone footings, around ~453ft). What we do not know is drop angle and what the crest curvature looks like, both of which are essential in figuring out the height. But, if we use Fury as a reference, we do get very close to 300ft quite easily using these hard numbers and estimates. I'm ballparking in the 285-300' range, topping out around 305'...I just don't see it going any higher than that given what we know. I hope I'm wrong though! Drop height could be more, if ravines, tunnels, etc. are utilized.

  16. Ping! Yeah, glad I could share my skip-the-line passes from the wheel game with someone. As for why that day was packed: Rain the day before caused people to delay their visit a day Several after-prom school trips Beautiful weather Flying Pig Marathon that morning (I saw several people with various race shirts on, most likely marathon runners that came to KI after crossing the finish line) Basically just a perfect storm of circumstances.

  18. I doubt that the new clearing between Racer and FOF is for staging. It looks like from the pictures that perhaps they are pouring concrete so perhaps it is for a new maintenance building.

  19. Don't know if this has been said before, but the length of the clearing is roughly the length of The Racer's footprint, just kind of interesting.

  20. it's also a strange place for bathrooms, unless they were only accessible via racers exit line.... which would make a lot of sense lol.

  21. Kind of weird to use it for staging when there's still going to be a fair amount of old Firehawk land available, but what do I know? Could be the bathrooms.

  23. I agree, actually I think it is time we started a support group..... Hi, my name is KI_FAN_4_LIFE and I am a Hypaholic. It all started back in 2nd grade when I rode my first real roller coaster, "The Beastie" (woodstock express). It started out innocent enough, once or twice a month trip to KI. I then as the years past gathered up enough courage to get on Adventure Express, The Beast, and then after a lot of pushing myself Vortex (yes it was a big deal back then and I was terrified). After that I was hooked, couldn't wait to be tall enough for King Cobra! Then some years later came the announcement for SOB (RIP). That is when the hype started to become a problem. Couldn't wait to ride this ride, hype through the roof, they even brought Montel Williams out to announce the thing (LOL). After SOB was announced and MF had opened at Cedar Point the focus had became about one thing "The GIGA!" Every new coaster that we got became "is this the one?" People would speculate, search for clues, write GIGA in the snow... Then The Beast unleashed video came out and Hypohalics all over drank it up. So now that were are here at the point of possibly getting a GIGA, we have to ask, have we been drinking the Hype juice to long?

  28. Catching up with this thread..... From the leaked plan, the first hill is a highly banked, or overbanked, turn. The second hill is the treble clef element. So the first half will likely not have airtime. Well the station is a building with walls, electric, queue lines, control room etc. The rest of the ride is literally just track, rails, supports and footers. There is obviously going to be more involved with the station. They've drawn everything they can draw on the rest of the ride. They will also have the free dinner on the coasters nightly. Nothing like eating bugs! I think the 45 degrees was somewhere between urban Legend and just people making uneducated guesses about what Other coaster's lift angles are. That becomes "fury has a 45 degree angle, so this will too". That has been debunked on both cases. They'd have to also pay an engineer/architect to do the math and design those fake plans. All of the math in those data sheets is accurate and matches real world elevations. So that involves paying a surveyor to survey those spots. Pretty expensive for practical joke. I don't think for one second that the city plans are fake. I can fathom the whole plan leak being an internal fake. Even though, at this point, it was executed poorly if it was intentional. But the city plans are going to be what's built.

  30. I fully expect the Kings Island Giga to be one of the best coasters in the world. In its present form, per the leaked layout and footer drawings, I make the following prediction: Height: 305 ft Drop: 310 ft Max Speed: 94 mph Length: 5,250 ft This coaster will be shorter in duration and length then Fury, however there’s no way one can say it’s not in the same category. This coaster will be forceful (for a B&M) and will be relentless. All of B&M’s highlight elements will be in it. I expect a reverse treble clef and an ampersand along with ejector and floater hills. Again, just because it’s shorter, doesn’t mean it’s not as good as Fury. In fact many complain about the pacing of Fury and that the helix is almost pointless. For this coaster, pacing won’t be an issue. After 45-50 seconds of ride time (drop to break) this new coaster will leave you out of breath, wondering what the he** just happened. Don’t be discouraged y’all! Kings Island is going to get one of the best coasters in the world. No it may not be the 7000 ft long 350 ft tall “beast unleashed” y’all were hoping for, however this coaster will still be a wonderful attraction and the parks best coaster for years to come! #fiveIsALIVE #Polaris305

  32. Just got back from the park. Remind me to never ever go on "opening day" again. Literally 50 buses of screaming high schoolers. No teasers anywhere that I could find and there was about 5 guys doing surveying out in the cleared area. No new markings that I could see. There is a bunch of stuff between racer and FOF building as shown in those pictures. I would guess that this where they will put all the equipment, track, and columns when they come in.

  33. Hey me too!! Yeah, I realized after making these plans that it's not just Saturday, but Coasterstock, PiviP, and the first really nice warm Saturday of the season. Yeah, I'm thinking it will be bad. Oh well. I'll get to ride some stuff, that's what I'm going for.

  37. Just had a dream that this new ride was a Vekoma giga. It launched you up 300+ feet and once you got to the top there was a really quick turn down. To a point where the trains were coming off the track. It was black and orange with a flames sprayed all along the track. Looked like a Hot Wheels toy more than anything. You can close this thread down, because that confirms what it is.

  40. Thats on the lift side. I was talking about the drop side. But that footer doesn't tell you what coaster type it is. They are putting that on multiple types now. For example, here is one on Valravn: Based on pics from CSF, Hershey's Hyper will have that backbone footer as well. I'm referring to how the footer has a note to see 2/S3.2. When you go to that page, it has the "alternate double pier cap section" under that number. It only has one view, and that view implies a round support, and not a square backbone. All of the profiles of footer diagrams on that page show those footers mounting two round supports. The data section confuses things more. It has the Footer having 28 bolts and using the same template as the lift footer. Suggesting it is indeed a backbone footer. But then for reference it has Typ S3.2 which are the two post, round support footers. I agree it probably is a backbone footer. I'm just seeing enough internal disagreements in the plans to not be able to say 100% that it is.

  41. It's impossible to tell at this time. We have the distance between the footings, but we don't have a descent angle or the radius at the top of the drop. We can use historical data to take a guess, but that's all it will be, a guess. As for your assumption above about the first hill being an overbanked turn, there is quite a bit of distance between the drop and the turn around, so I would assume there is some sort of airtime hill or element between. There is also a good amount of distance between the turnaround the "treble clef". Basically we know nothing.

  42. @BSBMX sums it up for the most part. We differ a little in that I'm not 100% that the drop side footer is a backbone footer. The design shown in the plans and what we see on Fury and Leviathan aren't the same. The overview shows a more rectangular footer, while those other two coasters have a large square footer that sits flat on the ground. The overview references a drawing that seems to be missing a view, but the view that does appear looks more like a multi-support footer to me. That leaves some debate in my mind about the drop side and the math involved. It could be that they just consider that footer as part of the next phase and its not really a part of this, so they will include in the next set of drawings. If it is accurate though and is a two support footer, then that could change the math quite a bit. What we can be sure of though is at the widest(and assumed to be tallest) set of supports, the angular height should be right around 299 ft. The problem is that plans show the supports there lean forward and most likely tie into the backbone as it's dropping. Theres also, as mentioned, not knowing the drop angle and geometry of the top of the hill. The steeper the drop, and the smaller the radius of the crest, the taller it can go. But theres limitations on what the trains can do. Personally, I have my doubts whether the top of the lift will be 300 ft to the ground at the peak, but we just don't have enough info to say that with any certainty.

  48. While not a roller coaster engineer, I am an engineer (marine), and I don't see anything wrong with this design.. and in fact this looks like it would be a pretty fun element! Especially if launched just fast enough to barely make it over the top (aka TTD and Kingda Ka). However, I believe the support columns and footers would be different than anything we've seen to support that structure.

  49. Don't listen to anyone, keep being imaginative and keep asking questions. That's how every brilliant mind got their start. As for your question about the weight of trains: I don't know exactly what they typically weigh, but I bet if Top Thrill Dragster can launch a train 400+ feet into the air at a 90 degree angle with a 120 mph launch it would certainly take way less kinetic energy than that. I would definitely use that ride, and also Lightning Rod at Dollywood as a basis for your research here.

  50. The same sign was at Banshee. I heard a rumor today that starting today the policy is if someone has their phone out on a ride they will be greeted at the station by security and ejected from the park. I dearly hope this is true.
