When I went to Kings Island Friday evening, while in line for Drop Tower a group of three behind me talked about what they wanted to ride next. One of them asked if Firehawk was open.9 points

Just drove by CSF. There is no new painted track but there is a ton of new track sitting alongside the building. None of it was there two weeks ago.8 points

You wanted a record breaker, here it is: "It should only go 4 to 5 thousand miles an hour" hahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!8 points

I remember being a TL at Kings Island, and this is all they told us when they were building Banshee. “We are building for the future” staffing speculate just as much as we do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk8 points

He knows it’s a fake, he made it. His name is in the lower left corner of the picture. [emoji38] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk8 points

The new track is lined up in the red area and is getting its coat of rust currently. The blue area has a piece of primed gray track sitting there. None of the Hershey track has moved.7 points

The average employee isn't going to be in the know and even the select few who are wouldn't tell you. But a giga wave pool does sound like a blast. "The tide is high..."7 points

If that layout is any representation of what we'll actually get, it looks like it'll be a fun ride. I can see where people are coming from with it looking like Diamondback 2.0. But I doubt that'll bother me when it is all said and built. Beating records isn't something that goes through my head as I am going up the lift hill.7 points

Went yesterday... employees playing it smooth but dont really know what they are talking about. We went on Eiffel Tower. Guy at top says if you have ANY questions, just ask. So I ask, what coaster are they building over there? 2 employees at same time said a Giga Wave Pool. So I say, oh, bigger than Cococay? They were lost... There is chatter in the waiting lines about Giga this, Giga that but also not everyone even knows there is a coaster missing either.7 points

You can’t see any of the new track from that photo. It’s all behind the corner of that building. Everything you see is completed Hershey track. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

They let the track rust to get rid of particles, then it’s sandblasted Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

Seems like they would have a better storage system/facility than just "new mega expensive, precisely milled, 30 million dollar coaster track piece is done....where do you want it boss"? BOSS: "Just throw it out back somewhere".6 points

Thunderbird is definitely the most intense of the wing coasters. It rides like a classic B&M sitdown during some of the elements. The zero g roll is the best I've ridden on a wing coaster. Nice and snappy .6 points

I agree with others, the construction is much bigger at ground level than what it appears from the Tower and Racer. The ravines are much steeper than they look from above. If they use the terrain appropriately we are going to have a special ride.6 points

Well, my pilot's mother passed away the other day. Obviously, he needs to spend time with his father and such. Flying is the least of our thoughts right now.6 points

Just catching up... Yeesh. This is getting almost as bad as Decoding 2014 where people were still thinking it was an Intamin Giga after the footers for an invert were already poured. The denial game is strong here. There is ZERO chance that work between FOF and Racer is part of the coaster's station or storage shed. ZERO. It looks like the start of a pole barn to me. Similar to what they built out by the boneyard. It could be a metal building, but whether they set poles next or pour the floor will answer that. But no, it's not part of the coaster. There it is.... The peak of the lift will be close to that tree by the buildings. It will come towards the camera that took the pic. It looks like the pic was taken a little to the left of where the peak of the second hill is going to be. It will cross the "ravine" somewhere between those two points.5 points

We already know it's going to be a giga or very tall hyper. I also think a wing-rider is the last thing we need.5 points

I've rode GateKeeper and Thunderbird. Is it just me or is the track for Thunderbird not feel like it's for a wing coaster? Wing coaster suppose to make you feel like you are flying. I rode Thunderbird 7x back to back last year on almost every seat arrangement and it felt like they slapped wing trains on a sit down ride.4 points

While the only Winged Coaster I’ve ridden is Thunderbird, I would say it’s very fun, just wish it were a little longer.4 points
-
Have you ridden a winged coaster before? For me they look like they would be a lot more fun than they actually turn out to be (I feel the same way about the dive coasters as well), but some people may love them. For me I would love to see a Mack multi launch or a ground up rmc for the next coaster at Kings Island. Actually would love a launched top hat TTD style ride but I doubt that would ever happen.4 points
-
I don't see why we can't have a wing or a dive that's also over 300 ft. Maybe it's just not technically possible yet? Idk. I also think those new spinning 4D coasters look fun! But if the "MC" track pieces people have spotted really are for us which I think they most likely are then it won't be either of those and will be a giga. I'm happy either way with anything honestly. The footings blueprints show silhouettes of the lift supports. Lining those up in CAD with the footings coordinates do not make a 90° drop possible, assuming they're using a similar backbone structure like Fury/Levi. A 90° at this point would require a different backbone design (something similar to Hyperion's), but I don't think B&M is going to try something new here. With my CAD estimates, I'll say 84° is about as much as we're going to get, but it can certainly be in the 81-83° range as well.4 points

I mean he explains how it was made and everything in the video posted a page back or so. Wasn't meant to trick anyone. According to his video, an engineer friend of his made this based on the leaked layout. EDIT:THE_BEASTmaster not trying to suggest you were saying it was made to trick anyone, wanted to clarify that just expanding on what you said.4 points

This is precisely why I’ve been predicting a 320 plus drop which would break Fury’s record. Each one of those lines is 10 feet. There is a 40 to 50 foot height drop from the Firehawk cleared area. 305 height 325 plus drop is my prediction and will be a world record holder.4 points

Welp someone knows how to kill a party lol!Sorry for your friend though that’s a rough thing to deal with. I’ll say a prayer for his mom tonight. RIP4 points

I think the next offseason will be fun. Get to fly around and see the construction from another angle.4 points

I would not be mad if we got a ride with the same height as MF. Here now, and it looks pretty big at an angle Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

The fact they still actively chose Racer as a Coasterstock tour this particular year makes me think they're letting enthusiasts and the GP do most of the heavy lifting for promoting this new coaster since the park hasn't said a peep yet. Maybe they'll have some epic build up to the announcement. It is weird they're not even pouring concrete yet though considering it's likely a scaled up Diamondback.4 points

You'd be surprised.. When at CP, I've gotten employees to spill all kinds of things they've heard in meetings while waiting for rides to reopen for hours. You can easily tell when someone is hiding something or just plain not knowing.3 points
-
A lot of renderings and concepts show that the coaster will have a steep drop but is it possible to go 90°? Is there anything in the blue prints that would say that a 90° drop is out of the question?3 points

This reminds me of a major project just a few hours north of here. The first year of construction, the park acted like there was nothing happening. It wasn’t until fall that they finally acknowledged something was going on, and they still had over a year until it was complete. I’m not saying or implying anything, just some food for thought. The footer forms in the picture posted earlier presumably have nothing to do with the massive (and it IS massive) clearing on the other side of X Base. I too saw both areas today - I was on the tours - and I can assure you that area they have cleared is way bigger in person. Photos dont do it justice. Whatever is planned for the area looks to be a very large project. It will be exciting when KI officially decides to reveal what they have up their sleeves. On a separate note - KI is to be congratulated on pulling off a tremendously fun event - and thanked for allowing us those tours so we can be nosy and take pictures of The areas in question.3 points
