Sure! The cylindrical molds for the footers have been placed in the ground around part of the gravel plot. Concrete is being poured as we speak. This is really interesting because if this is where the transfer shed is going or something similar, the supposed leaked plans for the full layout aren’t accurate since they show it on the other side of Flight of Fear. Things are getting interesting.13 points

Rebar for some of the footers are on site. Just got off Adventure Express and saw them by the rectangle gravel plot by Blue Racer. I’ll post a pic here in a minute. EDIT: Here you go. Not the best pic (digital zoom), but you can see them sitting in the grass on the left there. DOUBLE EDIT: a concrete mixer truck just showed up.12 points

I feel like if the official height is under 300ft we'll be roasted by the amusement park community12 points

You know... it would make a ton of sense for them to name a "possible" new coaster "Shooting Star." It actually works on multiple levels... a nod to history, fits the Coney/XBase space theme etc etc etc. If it ran with 2 trains... (unlikely, but maybe...) Polaris and Orion. Just sayin'...11 points

That’s an excellent question. It all depends on how much they modified the land post tree removal. Based on the terrain, pre-tree removal, I found it hard to get the coaster to a 310 ft drop. if this image is to be taken into account, it looks like they “smoothed” the grade from the “north section” of Dinosaurs Alive Path to the ravine. If this is indeed the case, I can see another 10-20 ft added to the drop. So it is entirely possible this coaster has a 323 ft drop as the name Polaris may indicate (being 323 light years away from Earth). Unfortunately, it is more likely the coaster is 285 ft tall with a 301 ft drop (Kings Island will call it a giga still) then it would be 305 ft tall with a 323 ft drop. (This is assuming the lift and drop is identical in shape to fury and is scaled by some factor to “fit it” to the “proper” height. I can go over the math if you’d like, lol However, if this is the steepest giga at 85 degrees we can easily get a 305-315 ft tall coaster with a 315+ ft drop. Considering we will see the lift construction first, before the rest of the coaster takes shape (based on the permit drawings) we will know a LOT more about this coaster in the next 2 months.11 points

I'd be okay with the drop length matching or barely beating Fury's if they're truly using that ravine to get a longer drop. If they're using it to lengthen the drop to just barely get a drop over 300 (like 305ft) and the true height is under 300ft, it will feel like a cheap Six Flags move to me. Dunno why you'd spend all that money just to have the actual height be barely under 300ft10 points

I hope our giga claims the longest brake run in the world from Leviathan! I figure the announcement video will somewhat go like this: Kings Island dares you to come face to face with The Beamer! The Beamer! 250ft of forever stopping brake power. At a 250ft deceleration attack on your senses. The Beamer leaves you yawning into your restraint system. Brakes you longer than any other coaster. Come face to face with The Beamer! The Beamer! the biggest, baddest, longest brake run in the world!10 points

Honestly I don’t get the whole argument on how the giga needs to be over 300 feet and not just have a 300 foot drop. If it were me, I would take a 285 foot tall giga with a 305 foot drop any day over a 300 foot giga with a 290 foot drop. The longer the drop the better... you want a longer drop as opposed to a taller coaster with a shorter drop because everyone likes a good lengthy drop that seems to go on forever. Also, the longer the drop, the faster the coaster can go. I know that some people want it to be at least 300 feet tall for marketing purposes, but in the end, the length of the drop is all you will notice as a rider!10 points

The lack of conduit stubbing up thru the pad makes me doubt this could be a maintenance shed (plus it feels relatively small for a maintenance shed. Transfer track? Possibly as the electric could come up the side later and trenched/installed later, but based upon the locaiton, I doubt that. Restaurant? no way: no plumbing. Maintenance/seasonal storage, good possibility. Haunt - maybe. Could be an offseason storage spot for the new tiques....9 points

Inject short and forceful into my veins. This could be a truly one of a kind experience if we go that route. A B&M with the layout and intensity of an Intamin without all the downtime and the best restraints in the industry! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk9 points

Hi ... from the guy who made it ... thank you for your feedback. I plan on modifying this so slightly so it better represents how B&M designs their coasters. As for the ampersand, that is the highest I could make it with out it moving too slowly around the top portion. Based on the “leaked layout” that top section of the ampersand is pretty wide, which leads me to believe it will be moving pretty fast around it. And you’re right. This coaster will be very forceful and relentless for a B&M giga. Less will definitely be more in this case!9 points

I think this is where the Haunt attraction will be relocated to. Then the other building being built in the trees past the "Firehawk" trains will be the new maintenance building.8 points
-
^^^Yes, but if it doesn't measure 300 or more feet from the apex of the lift directly below it to the ground, it is not a giga. It may have a giga drop because it drops down a hillside, but it will not have giga height. Hopefully, this isn't the case.8 points

We usually don't see vertical construction until after the announcement. The most I think we'll see before the announcement is footer work.8 points

I think this is nearly accurate, but the ampersand should be a little higher. That first overbank should be an extremely intense moment, considering that you'll be whipped to the left at a very high speed. I don't get the "Diamondback 2.0" comments. This looks like a speed-demon type of coaster, rather than the airtime machine that Diamondback is.8 points

I wanted to make a thread after speaking to some ride ops at CoasterStock and seeing some of the regular guests reactions to ride ops during the day. On Saturday it was a very warm day with a very busy park. I don't think most people remember that if you are hot, they are hot. Rode Ops are not just casually walk around like us, they are working hard to send out trains safely and efficiently. I think that some forget that they are just doing they job to make your ride safe and adhering to the park/ride rules. I saw several guests being grumpy at the ride ops when they are just trying to do their job. Most of what I just said should be understood by most of us here. With a lot of us here at the park a bunch, we can do our part to be understanding towards the ride ops when we are there. Some things I always try to do: When I am at the park I try to ask ride ops how their day is going as well. If I am riding solo, I pull the restraint down in the other seat. Try to be ready for them to check my restrain when they get to me. Maybe some former and current ride ops can chime in here to let us know what we can do to make their lives easier?7 points

thats exactly why we are being critical of the layout. because we likely will not get anything like it ever again,7 points

Guys remember that no matter the length of the ride, Cedar Fair and B&M know what they are doing. I feel that this has really shown with Banshee and Mystic Timbers as Banshee’s inversions and Mystic’s elements seemed to have been really thought out and made for a great ride experience! And remember... the guy Cedar Fair has working closely with the manufacturers to design their rollercoasters, Rob Decker, absolutely loves Kings Island, per Banshee and Mystic Timbers’s Media Days. I know that Rob and Cedar Fair will do everything in their power to give Kings Island the best giga they can, and when you install such a world-class ride, it really makes the chain look good at the same time!7 points

I don’t know why I didn’t google what a pole barn was earlier. It literally exactly describes what’s being built right now... You live and you learn.7 points

Yukon Striker is the same height as Valravn but it has a longer drop. I think KI could land the "longest drop" title if the ravine is about 15ft+ deep7 points

the coaster footers are also square / rectangle which no one seemed to notice or catch..7 points

Looked at it again. It occurred to me like someone else said that Coaster footers are typically pre-dug with rebar in the ground. That’s not what these are.7 points

Even slabs need footers otherwise the concrete would just break around the edges when the building, slab, or ground shifts. Usually for post beam construction, the building will go on the footers alone and the slab will be floating. This reduces the chances of the concrete slab cracking as the building and the slab can move independently.7 points

I'm glad to see they are pouring concrete. I'm still leaning toward this being maintenance or storage related.7 points

To add, if you look at the plans from the city, the footer locations are marked with codes that match the codes on the MCT track.7 points

If the marketing trends regarding every single ride ever built are any indicator, people absolutely do care. The KI marketing team doubly so.6 points

I got a friend on Facebook that works there, but i’m not close enough to just message him and be like “so uh let me see them plans” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk On my way home from Cedar Point, saw this, giga is for sure gonna be named this now CONFIRMED Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

I don't see this as being for the coaster because according to the plans there are 3x4 footers for the storage with some down the center, and 2x4 footers for the transfer track, in the pictures there are somewhere around 5x5 x's around the perimeter, with nothing down the middle. Not to mention, anything for the footers will most likely be dug down, then poured, these look like they are being poured directly at ground level.6 points
-
So entirely possible the drop is bigger than Fury's (320 ft.), but the height is shorter. So who gets bragging rights? Shouldn't marketing just get out there and dig a 30 foot hole under the peak of the lift hill so they can say their's is taller too? I wonder if they'll add a tunnel element through the ravine just to give it the feeling of going underground.6 points
-
As someone who’s not well versed in construction, I’m just wondering why a maintenance building would need individual footers on a flat plot of land instead of a large concrete pad. Perhaps the pad is coming later, but I saw them pouring footers there.6 points

I agree. Look at the construction for this in relation to the land clearing on the other side of Flight of Fear. I'm no construction expert but even if this was related to the coaster it seems kind of "late". If this area was used for a coaster wouldn't the grass already be all torn up and reduced to dirt? This seems like a side project that could be in companion to the 2020 project.6 points

I think DB was different because of where it was at. Station and lift had to go over walk ways in the park where guests would be. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk6 points

Yeah this layout looks top-notch to me even if it is a bit short. Honestly looks like more of an Intamin layout than B&M to me. I think the brevity could help it out because the entire experience will be balls to the walls insane. I think Fury suffers from having a rather pointless last half. If we get this layout with a few minor tweaks (a bit longer first drop, larger Shambhala turnaround like you said), I think it could be the best giga and one of the best coasters in the world. We have a winner on our hands.6 points

With the amount of brown track pieces visible, I would guess that Candemonium is at or near completed production. Although until Hershey track starts shipping, I think it'll be difficult to track progress on MCT. @Logan: Yes, the only MCT track we've seen so far are for the brakes, a flat turn, transfer, and station. The track labeled MCT ST9 is the entirety of our station, going into the lift.6 points
