  1. I’m definitely a member of the camp in which I don’t care about the stats as long as it is a great ride experience.

  5. The video itself is pretty cool, but this is not the most accurate recreation as the video claims. First, yes the height is still up in the air, but not the drop height. Drop height is 301, no question about it. Second, there are two extra hills in this that are not in the blueprints. Whaaa?

  6. My planet coaster recreation was a little over 5400 feet, and several of the recreations have pegged it between 5200-5500 feet. So somewhere in that range.

  7. I've walked up the lift hill of Vortex pretty much to the top when I was working the ride. I've walked up the block brakes of FoF multiple times. Been on lifthill 2 of The Beast.

  8. As long as everyone was safe I think it would be kinda cool to be on a valleyed coaster. That doesn't happen often...unique credit??

  9. If true, that means we won't have the shortest giga in length. I-305 is shorter in length (5,100 feet). So basically in length we are between I-305 and Leviathan.

  11. I can see a lot of upside in this: new markets, a new resort, new opportunities for Haunt/Winterfest, etc. If they decide to purchase the Kansas City location, it would give them dominance in that market. (But does it include the land and attractions or just the land?). For Texas, if Schlitterbahn keeps the other properties, I would imagine the names would be changed eventually. However....with the recent purchase of the and under California's Great America, the company has added almost a half billion of new debt. The payments from CGA should likely be negated from the savings of the yearly lease payments, though.

  13. I’d think so, good thing sensors are in place to make sure 2 trains will never be on the track at the same time. I heard it poured rain on them too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. While on Vortex today the ride op asked, "Does anyone know what we're getting next year?" Me and one other person yelled "Giga!" Then he said something along the lines of, "Let me put it this way. It'll be 300 times better than Firehawk." I think he joked that it would be a wavepool too. Fun moment. It was exciting to see the recent progress in person. I am so ready for this coaster!

  18. The $6M purchase price says a lot about the value of the Kansas City park. Perhaps we'll see some of its slides distributed to other Cedar Fair parks if they pursue that option.

  20. As someone who suffers from social anxiety, I understand that discomfort. But really, I've never minded. Most people, I've found, just keep to themselves. Those who are chatty usually have something fun to say; I've learned they're often the enthusiasts and they love to talk about the ride. I think being paired with kids is uncomfortable, mostly because it's like "am I responsible for this kid if his restraint breaks and he flies out?" But really, I've learned most the time the discomfort is my own and I just need to relax.

  21. My sister got stuck at top of Drop Zone when it opened. They were up there like 15 minutes....

  22. Well, that was unexpected. I'm really glad to see Cedar Fair add destination waterparks, in any case. Hopefully we'll also see good things at the existing Cedar Fair waterparks. What does everyone think about whether they'll keep the Schlitterbahn name at the Texas parks? It's very iconic there, but its association with the Kansas City, KS park could be a factor after the 2016 accident. I also have to wonder how season passes will work; the current price of a "platinum" pass good at both Texas waterparks is higher than the current price of a Cedar Fair platinum pass ($275 vs $220).

  26. Anybody ever got stuck at top of a lift hill? Our train once stopped at the top of Magnum XL-200 and we sat there for what seemed like 5 minutes. Gotta say I was getting nervous at the prospect of walking down the lift hill on those little steps. I also didn't know about anti-rollback features at the time. Kind of scary. lol

  28. Maybe they figured out the logistics of construction and concluded that they need this area as a path for equipment.

  30. My guess is now that they have the station footers drilled, they were able to physically look down the line and noticed the trees were too close to the eventual track location and needed cut back. The plans would show flats if they were going to be any. If that was the plan, they probably wouldn't have the station where its at blocking off expansion areas.

  31. Does anyone have any clue to why we're seeing more trees knocked down as of now? We've seen what we believe to be the layout of this ride, so could X-Base be getting some flats as well (in tune to what CF did with the area where Copperhead Strike was placed, for instance) or is this just something ordinary (thinking of last year's venture in the Giga Speculation Thread where trees were being cleared by The Beast just because of termites or something like that).

  32. They are still knocking more trees down, getting ready to pour footings for station and turn around into the station Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  34. Pretty sure it won't be another coaster. They are already getting an intamin multi launch for 2020, to get a 355ft tall giga the year after would be a HUGE investment.

  35. Seeing that the locker Bay is being expanded, I highly doubt it.

  36. Is it possible, based on the blueprints, that this new ride will have a storage system similar to Yukon Striker’s new overhead storage system? I don’t know if this has already been talked about, but I was just wondering about it!

  37. I created a visual of the station in CAD using the blueprint data. The blueprints left a lot of unknown dimensions, but tracing over the silhouette images and using the known dimensions got me a pretty close representation of the station, IMO. Overall, building is 40' wide, 50' long, 39' tall, with the main platform being 20' off the ground. Main entrance steps on rear of station, which will have some kind of wall separating two individual queues up the entrance steps, a set of exit steps and elevator on the front of the station, and a set of maintenance steps on the transfer side of the station as well as at the bottom of the exit steps. A lot of fine details are not shown here (railings, steps, metal siding, etc.). Adding all that superfluous detail brings my laptop to its knees, and would take several more hours to create, so it's just not going to happen...anyways, here's some pics. I plan on dropping it into my footings/piers CAD model soon to get a better overview visualization of the whole area.

  42. Last time this happened (that I know of) was during initial testing before it opened. They needed to take the train apart with a crane. Let’s hope that’s not the case here.

  43. GateKeeper is one of the first coasters to shut down for high winds, but sudden gusts are hard to predict on the lake. Hopefully there were no nervous riders on board. Maintenance will have a long night.

  44. They will use the Hell out of those internally lit sign holder things won’t they??!? Haunt...Winterfest...Carnivale. They look a little like giant lit trash cans! Seriously though, it’s looking like this is going to be taking it to the next level.

  45. International parking only, please. If you put big letters on towers it tries to convince me that I’m excited. Okay, maybe it’s pretty awesome. The China section (Tower Gardens) has a setup with a stage, decorations, and whatever that is in the 3rd picture. This is next level stuff. Seems like more decorations are being added on the daily. Don’t forget that Grand Carnivale starts this Saturday June 15th!

  46. If you build a dark ride and the main feature is that it's a game in which the targets you shoot trigger things to happen, it's a pretty valid complaint. If you offer something on the menu and it doesn't include part of the description, it's a valid complaint. The other day, I was at Burger King. I ordered an Angry Whopper, they told me they had no jalapenos. I decided to order something else. Had they told him that they had no honey mustard, he probably would have ordered something else.

  47. Basically just confirmed this is ki giga track, sorta knew from the beginning but I zoomed in and you have to have a good eye and you can tell it says MCT. If you don’t know “you probably do know”. But MCT stands for mega coaster track which stands basically for giga coaster track.
