  1. Are you guys really surprised that the decoding ground to a halt when you got access to the blueprints within weeks of the park opening and have been going through them with a fine tooth comb since then? Its just a waiting game until the announcement and vertical construction at this point.

  3. I took my first trip to the top of the Tower today. I know there’s nothing new to be seen in this picture. But, I think it’s strange that we’ll be looking straight across at a new coaster next year instead of down at a construction site.

  6. Oh ok , I was just speculating because I saw on wild gravity travels latest video in the comments, there is supposed to be a public media event July 2nd or something like that

  11. You might go to a different ride but remember when Steel Vengeance first opened, there were wait times exceeding 4hrs.

  12. It won't happen as the queue would have to cross the ride exit path to get to the Firehawk queue. That would be chaos.

  13. I'm guessing the old Firehawk queue will be for more lockers.

  18. I guess when you know the whole layout and color scheme of a coaster, there isn’t much to decode. I miss the days when I would log on and see pages and pages of new comments all within an hour period because something big was revealed. Maybe, when teasers show up, we will see that happen again. I do think that the layout leaking early was a good thing, though, because now people won’t be caught off guard and all upset when the coaster is not the tallest, fastest, and longest giga in the world.

  19. The Bat is sitting on a really undesirable plot of land. It's not remotely flat, and its location way off the beaten path is no doubt a huge contributing factor to Bat's apparent lack of popularity. See Vortex at Canada's Wonderland, which is an essentially identical ride but is located right off a main midway and is still very popular. If The Bat goes, it will probably be due to the ride becoming difficult or expensive to maintain rather than because that land is needed for something else. Granted, Vortex at Canada's Wonderland may also be more popular than Bat because the other coasters at CW that hang below the track are hot garbage. That's not true at KI. Even Invertigo is better than those two hunks of junk, and I hate Invertigo.

  20. I speak for MOST ride operators when I say that separator is our most hated position. We dislike assigning seats people don’t want just as much as we dislike telling kids they aren’t tall enough to ride. However usually when people ask for a specific row I’ll give it to them. 22. According to the blueprints, they are reusing the former photo building for the entry to the new coaster.

  23. I wonder if they'll keep the old sign from Firehawk along with the old photo booth. Still both in great condition!

  24. Looking at the blueprints, it looks like the food stand in Xbase is going to be removed.

  25. ^ They re-used the old queue that was white water landing for Maverick when it opened. Do you think the general public would notice that much? Not trying to prove you wrong, but just saying here.

  26. One main reason, 30million est. ride. Using an aged queue line just wont look good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  27. I know people are saying that they'll re-use that queue from Firehawk for Flight of Fear, but hear me out here. In my opinion, why don't they use that old queue for the new ride? I mean I know the blueprints show it being used for Flight of Fear, but even on a busy day with a full queue, you're looking at a two hour wait. If I'm a guest on a busy day like I'm referring to, I would just go to a different ride. Lastly, you have that old queue to save you money on pouring more concrete for the new ride so why not utilize it? I'm done with my point now so I'll go away.

  29. Don't you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby. Now as for the premise about there not being much left in B&M's catalog we could get, I think two things need to be said: 1) Just because Cedar Point has a certain type of ride doesn't mean we aren't ever getting one. GateKeeper is absolutely not preventing us from getting a Wing coaster. It's a great ride and has quickly become a Cedar Point staple, but I seriously doubt that anyone considers it a flagship ride at that park. I'm not even sure it was in 2013. 2) B&M's existing catalog is almost certainly going to be expanded to new models at some point in the future. It's silly to think that B&M will never design a new type of ride ever again. IIRC, they recently trademarked a name that very well could be a new coaster model they have in the works.

  32. The blueprints have a whole new queue for the new coaster. I was thinking they could use the former Firehawk queue as an overflow, but now I find that unlikely.

  35. I think the overflow queue for opening weekend would be using the haunt and the haunt's queue that is there. Kinda like what they did for Mystic Timbers where they used the crypt building and the haunt's queue as an overflow.

  39. I also agree with the park needing more gap rides. A tilt a whirl, teacups, and Music Express would all be good. On the coaster side something like a Blazing Fury (Dollywood) or Black Diamond (Knoebels) would also work because it could also run during Winterfest.

  40. If I had my way, Planet Snoopy would return to Nickelodeon Universe, but I understand that won't happen. I say they could add a camp snoopy, but I think they could take out the current petting zoo/former theatre and make a new camp snoopy and leave the current Planet Snoopy the way it is. I'd also like to see the water thing return in the future.

  41. Planet Snoopy, spent a lot of time there the last 8 years, and with the youngest currently 3, I reckon I'll spend a good amount of time there for at least another 2-5 years (2 if he's like his brother and riding The Beast, Vortex, etc.. by the time he's 5, 5 years if he's like his sister who just turned 7 and still won't ride The Racers, stunt coaster or even FAAC) Getting ride of the water course thing that used to be the slime thing was the greatest move they've made to that area in a while. That they let young kid enter the attraction on one side, and exit on the other in an area where their parents couldn't see them exit, nor get around the attraction quick enough to meet them at the exit was always incredibly stupid. Whirly Birds and the space buggies were a great add. 5 year plan (after next year's coaster I'd take PS on a 5 year improvement plan in small stages) Year 1, general cleanup and give Boo Blasters a lot of love. Generally speaking, I still think the idea and function of Boo Blasters is a great idea, kids love it and parents and grandparents and toddlers can all enjoy. However, as EVERYONE says it needs a lot of love. Half the guns don't work, some add points every time you click no matter if you are aiming or not (I think my daughter got like a bijillion points earlier this eyar, good for her, but poor maintenance). Seriously just a decent refurb, get the props working in the que like they used to, get all the props and some new ones on the ride working, get the guns all working and calibrated and that would be enough. Add enough small things to make it exciting for new riders, but fixing the guns and sprucing it up can get the ride another 10 years of life easy, and then keep the guns calibrated for the rest of the ride. 0 reason so many guns should be failing 1 or 2 weeks into the season. Season 2, repaint Woodstock express and rename it "The Beastie" Yes I know that is not the original name. Clean up Woodstock Whirly Birds. I hate them, thankfully it was rarely on the "to do" list of my oldest son when he was young, but they are popular. Smells like a sweaty sock any time you get in one, add some more ventilation and clean those birds up. Season 3, year off for a relatively minor (compared to a Giga coaster) install in other areas of the park. Season 4, get ride of the show place and petting zoo, add in some sort of sit down restaurant back in that area that focuses on kid fun fare. A sit down would also free up the lines and items they could sell at the snoopy snack shop. (put the kitchen in/near where the cotton candy building is at to minimize the plumbing work). Announce the last rides on the small train thing they have back there. Season 5, in the left over space b/w the theater/stage, petting zoo and train install a new 44"-46" tweener coaster to serve that market that is too "big" for Planet Snoopy but not quite big enough (or brave enough) for The Beast, Racers, etc... Something on par with fire chaser express would be awesome, or a good wild mouse.

  44. I rode this last Friday. Overall, I'd say that the ride is good. I think the ride is fun and it definitely fills a niche within the park. I respect everyone else's opinions. Having said that, I don't really think that there's anything particularly memorable about this ride. The ride was designed to be a more family-friendly launch coaster and Mack certainly succeeded in that objective. The seats and restraints are comfortable. Load times were a little long and the ride seems to be having some early season hiccups, so hopefully that gets straightened out before too long. Those of you heading down to ride will want to hit this first because of some of the technical issues. I think Kings Island would definitely benefit from a coaster like this at some point, but there is absolutely no way I'd be in favor of getting one of these before a B&M gigacoaster. The possibility of B&M gigacoaster 3.0 interests me WAY more than a third launch coaster at Kings Island. Most of the guests who just got off the ride or were chatting about the ride elsewhere in the park all said pretty much the same thing - that it is a fun coaster for what it is but not something they were dying to get back in line for again quickly. My final grade would be a B-.

  45. I got the chance to ride it on Thursday for media day as part of my job . It is definitely a fun ride. It has just enough intensity, but isn`t too intense. As the others have said, the hang time is wonderful. I don`t know if I have experienced hang time like that on a vertical loop on any other coaster. There are also several nice pops of air time. The theming is very well done, and the queue area gives you a nice view of the ride. It is also nice to the the Flying Scooters that once graced Kings Island and Coney Island once again entertaining guests. I highly recommend a visit to Carowinds to check out this ride. Sadly, I still have not experienced Fury 325. But my wife and I are planning to try and hit up this park later this year. She can`t ride coasters at the moment as we are expecting our second baby in June.

  46. My thoughts on it are that it’s one heck of a coaster! The hangtime is out of this world and really adds to the experience. This was my first coaster with a jo jo roll out of the station which I thoroughly enjoyed. The barn before the first launch is cool but you have to ride several times to see everything. There’s also a lot of really cool theming in the queue line so make sure you pay attention to it. Honestly this is probably my new favorite coaster at the park. It’s definitely up there with Fury as far as best coasters I’ve been on. As far as night rides go, it’s definitely the best night ride in the park IMO. As far as comparing it to Maverick, yes they are both launch coasters but I’d say Maverick is definitely more intense. The launches on CS are not as intense as Mavericks but it’s still a lot of fun. If you have the chance to go to Carowinds this year, I would highly recommend this ride to anyone who enjoys a good thrill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
