  1. The teaser tagline if they tie it to Apollo 11: That's one small giga for a coaster enthusiast, one giant giga for Kings Island!

  3. Well Saturday is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, so there is always that Of course that stuff only plays well if it is indeed themed after space in some sort as the registered names would indicate. July 16th is national snake day, so perhaps we're getting Dad of Diamondback July 17th is Yellow Pig day, Cinci is known as porkopolis July 25th is Culinarians day.... Chef James Major coaster. Aug 2nd is National Beer day. Has a coaster ever been themed to beer (maybe they pull a switcheroo and we're actually getting the brown track) Aug 3rd is Grab Some Nuts day..... I'll just let you fill in the rest Its also National Clown Day...Sad Clown coaster for all the intamin fanboys. Aug 4th is national forgiveness day, when they make up for the previous day's announcement of the Sad Clown coaster by announcing a 500 foot tall, multi looping Intamin As you can see, there are all kind of days to start teasing and/or make an announcement.

  4. It would be great if the teasers were about "storming X-Base."

  5. @Browntggrr is right with his statement, "Disagreeing with each other is not negative." If we all agreed and thought the same, there would not be a need for a forum to discuss KI and the industry. With that said, this is a hard topic to discuss on a forum. It is hard to almost impossible to understand the tone and emotion another person is try to convey on such a sensitive subject. I think this thread has ran its course and will now be locked.

  6. Not the most accurate, but this is the best I could do. Note: I used the 2019 map.

  7. I'll be completely honest. I am excited because for all I know this will be the tallest and fastest coaster that will ever be at KI. Good for the park to get something like this! I would have never thought a giga would be at the park until CF bought the park. I am extremely excited for it. Sure its not the tallest or fastest even in the state but still gonna be pretty rad.

  10. Mods, you really should just lock this thread. While it technically is about KI, it's becoming personal and political and has no place on a theme park forum.

  15. Disagreeing with each other is not negative. So far, nobody is wrong. There are questions that surround the issue at hand from both sides. It's just that some feel the need that everyone must agree with their way of thinking- which will never happen.

  16. Old KIC was pretty negative, too. It was just in fewer numbers. Once this new ride comes out it will go down. The negative ones will go away until the following ride, as always.

  17. I can honestly say this might be a real possibility. When i worked at Kings Island in 2013....i was the supervisor of ice scream zone and about a month before the announcement i was told they were building a ride and me and my counter part had to try and match the colors of Banshee too our ice cream so when they announced it everyone could get a Banshee swirl. It was fun but my god my hands were a blue and red for WEEKS! Take it with a grain of salt but that’s my story about when Banshee was built. I can’t think of any restaurants around that area though that would do something similar. But again just showing it’s a real possibility.

  18. I made this a long time ago, and now is the perfect time to finally use it for good. This is from when I was about 14 and just learning graphic design, so bear with my poor concept of scale.

  21. Question regarding the perception of the “height:” if I’ve understood this thread correctly, the top of the lift measured to the ground it sits above comes in at “296 ft,” correct? And the drop, by virtue of plunging into a ravine, technically comes in at “301 ft” right? If I got that right—and you were to build out this coaster on a completely flat and level plane of earth, wouldn’t that technically make the ride a “giga” in that it would be over 300 ft tall? I know the “giga” and “hyper” terms are arbitrary, just trying to think how the ride may be promoted. In that above scenario, could you technically state that the ride is 300 or 300+ feet tall?

  24. This entire forum is becoming disgustingly negative, and it seems to be no matter what thread is opened. No wonder you don’t see the old familiar faces around here much anymore. Somebody help. Where’s the old KICentral?

  25. Here's some examples: "Move Banshee to ValleyFair and put RMC Son of Beast there" "Invertigo or Flight of Fear should've left." "Outpost 5 should be reused." I'm wondering if this Quinton Parchment kid will someday join KICentral.

  39. No there isn't! Yeah... I'm looking forward to announcement day so this place chills the heck out again. For the newbies: traditionally, once a new coaster is announced, you'll have a few days where this place explodes. The new coaster will be hailed as one of four things: 1.) the best addition in park history and your entire state is now buying a pass, 2.) the worst addition in park history and you're publicly burning your pass, 3.) begrudgingly okay but really should have been [insert industry trend that fits your idea of the "hole in the park's lineup"] bUt Kings Island wIlL aLwAyS bE bEhInD bEcAuSe Cedar Point, or 4.) disappointingly and tragically not related to Son of Beast in some obscure way. That'll linger for about a week, and then the 1's, 2's, more irrational 3's, and a smattering of 4's will generally disappear or simmer down and this place will go back to being civil and fun again.

  41. Tbh I sorta feel bad for the park because they are trying to make people happy and excited for this new coaster but a lot of coaster enthusiast are underestimating this ride and how fun it will be. This ride is going to be amazing , although it will be short, it will pack a punch! I’ve never risen a giga coaster before but I’ve seen povs and leviathan looks amazing also but I’m thinking this will be better

  42. The electric plan gives the high points and low points of the track. Subtraction gives you the drop. Both plans give you the footer/slab height at the station of 740'(above sea level). The foundation plan gives you the footer locations and heights at all of the footers, including the ones at the high point of the lift. Those subtracted from the height on the electrical plan gives you the height of the lift above the ground.

  43. Even if you don't have one of those state-of-the-art space-age coolers, here's a couple of tips for keeping things good and cold... Have all food/beverage items pre-cooled (i.e. put in refrigerator overnight) the cooler's job is to keep it cold, not make it cold Bring cooler inside (starting out with a hot cooler is a bad idea), clean it out Put all beverage items in bottom (single layer, upright, allow for some space) Surround cans/bottles with ice (let ice get down between everything), cover completely Put your food in zip-lock bags (keeps it dry) Place food on top of ice layer Surround food with ice packs (if you have them), or just fill remainder of cooler with ice to cover (be gentle to not crush your sammies ) In the car, cover the cooler with a blanket to add an extra layer of insulation against the heat and sunlight Don't forget, close that drain plug! (don't want a car full of water from a leaking cooler) In general, don't over-pack the cooler with food/beverage "stuff". You need an appropriate amount of ice or ice-packs. Good starting rule of thumb, half and half (50% stuff, 50% ice). I've camped with all styles of coolers, from good to crappy. You can get by with the flimsiest of coolers with decent prep. Though I cannot stress point #1 enough, starting with everything cold goes a long way in helping you out. As for eating at KI, pack items which are quick and ready-to-eat. You don't want to be doing meal-prep from the back of your car. Prep at home, pack for grab and eat. Have fun

  46. SoB should have been sponsored by a beer company. My national beer day at KI happened after my first trip on SoB in 2000 (3rd or 4th trip from Erie....) I was so shaken, I needed to sit down at the Beer Garden for a few.
