  1. Not much to report, but here is an update from today. Rebar and cement poured in footers near turn around. Lift footer had wooden mold ready to pour. There were large white pipes (the size of DB suppprts but like 15ft long) behind the red shed/barn that you can see on your way back when riding blue racer. I thought they were supports at first because they are about the right size but I I don't think that's what they are because the ends don't look right, they just look like very large tubes. They weren't there a few days ago, but only way to see them is blue racer so no pics of course. I don't think they are for the coaster, but wonder what they would be used for

  7. Or maybe the Orion constellation over the park at night has been the teaser the whole time!

  8. Or “watch for shooting stars”

  9. Teasers are fun, but in this case, what is really the point? You really have 2 groups of people-The Nerds (us) who already know minute details of this entire project and have disseminated plenty of that info to the GP...and the GP who is basically like, "Awesome, when can I ride it?"

  11. When KI starts charging as much as they currently do for a gold pass which lets you in every operating day, for one day admission, maybe we can compare them to Universal or Disney. If you want Disney level service, expect Disney level prices. Personally I think gold passes are way less expensive than they should be, because even though they can be purchased for the price of a 2-5 evenings at nearly any other entertainment venue, people think they’ve bought some sort of exclusive privilege. Getting in ~100 operating days for $100 is your privilege. Having a dedicated employee cleaning every restroom during every operating day is pretty darn great already. I don’t know how I can have gone almost thirty days so far this year and not have encountered the restrooms that are so terrible, especially since women’s restrooms are supposed to be far worse than the men’s.

  12. You’re awfully engaged for somebody who is so consistently negative about the park. Can’t find anything you actually like to spend time on?

  13. And I’m saying relatively clean restrooms with a dedicated employee per restroom is /already/ a given. There are probably outliers, where there is urine or poop, BECAUSE of crappy GUESTS, not the neglect of the park, but I’ve been fortunate not to encounter, because of the dedicated restroom attendants. I don’t disagree with @BeeastFarmer that keeping the doors open may help a little with ventilation but I feel like complaining that KI somehow isn’t keeping up with Disney or Universal is a little rich considering their comparable prices and locations. You want AC in every restroom, go to Orlando and pay Orlando prices. I’m irritated because I’ve learned the constant complaining about every little thing on KIC has not only been annoying to me, it has kept me from doing something I was looking forward to, that the park doesn’t have to do for us, and ultimately didn’t, because people are constantly rude dicks, here, and elsewhere. It’s annoying and I’m fed up, and clearly I’m not the only one.

  14. Extreme heat waves are typically a good time to visit the park without long lines, as long as you stay hydrated and are careful not to over-exert yourself. The longest line at the park tomorrow will probably be White Water Canyon.

  17. The guy on Reddit told me that 8 pm on August 15th is when "the festivities" begin. So maybe it'll be more than just an announcement. Like a celebration festival with an announcement. Kinda like what Cedar Point did for unveiling Steel Vengeance with the Frontiertown Hootenanny.

  18. I tend to agree. Even with Xbase being out of the way, I really do think it's strange that KI has apparently decided not to tease the biggest attraction they've built in the last 10 years. Not just strange, but also regrettable imo. At the end of the day I'm sure we're all going to enjoy the announcement and of course getting to finally ride this thing, but I really do hope the next time KI plans to add something new like this, that they take the time to post little tidbits at least on Social Media. I think it's also worth noting that the guy claiming to be an employee yesterday on Reddit also mentioned that there would be no teasers at all.

  20. My family (34, 33, 5, 3) decided to go for early ride time before it got too hot. After getting our picture (funpix is totes worth as a parent) taken at the entrance one of the supervisors approached and asked if we wanted to open the park. Apparently they don't do the single family interdiction, they grab three families and do it as a group. We got to do a bit of a meet and greet with Snoopy and Charlie Brown, ride the Holly Jolly Trolley to the antique cars, as well as a free blue ice cream cone for each, and a one time fast pass for each of us. 4 cones are a bit too many and we actually gave 2 of them to another family in line for ice cream, and the fast pass only worked on Boo Blasters, so we gave that away to someone with kids old enough to get a big coaster. Overall a great time this morning, not crowded so we got a lot done.

  21. It doesn’t even matter what the specifics are. But a little bit of honest praise goes a long way, while a large amount of over-entitled complaining is what usually dominates social media and “fan” sites in general. I get tired enough just seeing the non-stop complaining here and elsewhere about things the park has very little control over. I can’t imagine how hurtful it would feel if I was one of those many employees who are in charge of the restrooms, doing their best to keep up with the messes created by guests, a terrible enough task in itself, to see that even their best isn’t enough to keep people happy. It’s demoralizing. And it certainly doesn’t build a bridge between park employees and their so-called-fans. Honestly, if I /did/ work for the park I’d be ready to tell a lot of people to take their business elsewhere if things are so bad. Which is one of many reasons why it’s best I don’t work there . But even the kindest and most tolerant among the KI team are less likely to go out of their way when they are worn down by criticism from people claiming to be fans. I’m amazed, and grateful, at how often they still are willing to go the extra mile (Carnivale for example: the sheer number of park staff who worked their butts off in mostly unfavorable weather to bring that to us, and with unbridled enthusiasm, is staggering), and I can’t fault them for when they choose not to.

  22. As of the 2017 season (my last season at the park and the one when I mostly did restrooms), bathroom assignments were similar, but different. I-Street is front gate and Festhaus; AZ is Invertigo/Banshee/Oktoberfest; Coney is WindSeeker/Backlot and Rivertown/Snoopy are grouped together. Picnic Grove and Soak City are it’s own thing. Speaking of the Picnic Grove, I’ve only been assigned there a handful of times and it was fun, just because it was somewhere different that I didn’t get to go a whole lot. -MDMC, a little surprised he still remembers all of this!

  25. I'm not sure you understood my point. If they weren't filling up during the day, they could be emptied after the park closed or before it opened for the day removing the security implications. They still have to move the cash from the coin changers regardless. Going to tokens means more cash is likely to be in the machines.

  31. I feel like an RMC raptor would be a perfect fit (as do most other people). I’d hope if they do go that route it isn’t a clone of Railblazer and Wonder Woman. I wouldn’t complain if it was a clone of them though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  32. Yeah I agree. Sure they're not the eye poping out teasers, but that doesn't mean that Don will not say little hints here and there. He loves to play with our brains, and tease us. Also just little goofy things, like the possible odd space themed names on the store front. I believe if any teases do happen, it'll be after they announce the official Announcement date. Then they'll throw a little sign on the fence for the GP, just like MT's announcement sign. That'll probably be it. Which will be plenty. =D

  33. You know, it has almost been an anthem around here that "just because they've done it one way in the past doesn't mean they're going to do it this time or in the future." So maybe, just maybe... That's what they're doing this time. Maybe we've had teasers in plain sight this season and last season. Maybe the barrels in tower gardens last year actually meant something. Maybe all the barrels that were put out for Grand Carnivale that contain flowers mean something. Or maybe not. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

  34. I agree with the big cat theme it seems to fit more for the waterpark than a new ride. Can't think of a big cat that would fit in well for a theme to a holiday but it would go in well with a lot of the other names for Splashin' Safari. Though I hope they start adding to the ride side again soon. Haven't really had any big additions since Thunderbird. This would make 6 years since Thunderbird was added for a major addition in rides. We got a Calypso style ride a couple years ago but that is a pretty minor addition.

  36. Rest assured, there will be teasers. It is a no-brainer way to market 2020 season passes.

  37. I agree. This is the kind of experience that is only good for a mild kick and people will happily do it for a quarter. But if you charge too much, the average person will probably just walk on by.

  38. Sorry for the double post, but what is all of this nonsense! Why raid Area 51 when we can raid the Intamin HQ? Who’s with me?

  44. I think this relates back to the poor decisions Paramount made. Before the junkyard coaster was installed, this was a most beautiful part of the park. Antique cars, excellent landscape, and our flying eagles. All that is gone and we have a decent coaster with an ugly theme, put in a wrong section of the park. I don't hope for a removal, but I'd love to see it reimagined with less rip-rap, shipping containers, junked cars etc. Up the landscaping, soften it up and maybe redo the theme to a sinister prescense that The Beast and Mystic Timbers has... continue those story lines. You launch out of the station to escape the wrath of ....and run run run until you stop to catch your breath, but the....chases you thru a dark tunnel...I just think many of the nostalgia folks are salty even though they enjoy the junkyard coaster. 45. I didn’t mind this change until it said $1 gets 2 tokens... that means you pay $.50 per shot when you used to pay $.25 per shot. Now, if $1 gave 4 tokens, I’d be fine with that... wonder why they didn’t keep the original exchange rate (but obviously with tokens)?

  46. It has to do with the bolts. They aren't just setting the support on the concrete. The support actually never touches the concrete. The weight is all on the bolts which will have a nut above and below the support flange. They then go back and put a grout in the gap to finish it up after everything is bolted together. The concrete has to be cured enough to support both a downward load, and, with supports that lean out past the pier, a vertical load. It's a bit more complicated than a concrete pour where the load sits right on the concrete. If they put the load too early and a bolt moves, they probably have to rip the pier cap out and repour.

  47. Not sure how it's currently done, when I was in the department the bathrooms were broken up as such: International Street: Inside and outside front gate bathrooms Action Zone: Festhaus, Banshee, Coney: Oktoberfest & Vortex Rivertown: Rivertown Larosas, Diamondback & Brewhouse Snoopy: Planet Snoopy, Picnic Grove & Family Care Center Boomerang Bay: Restrooms + Shower House There would be some shifting, from time to time, and doubling up on areas, but for the most part, there is one attendant per bathroom plus a Supervisor in the area who checks in on them as well. At the end of the night the bathrooms are cleaned and shutdown, the mats are pulled up and washed, replaced in the morning when they open.
