  1. Grabbed two from out front in the drop off parking lot. It looks like it’s going to be coming straight at the gate and therefor I Street.

  4. I am really enjoying these photos. Crisp, sharp, nice sense of perspective. Keep these coming! The recent set of pics confirm the trim on the large airtime hill. Looking back at the last three B&M megas in the US/Canada, they all have retractable magnetic trims. The trims on Leviathan aren't really an issue at all. You're more likely to have the first trim on the large airtime hill activate than the second trim on the last airtime hill. Even then, it doesn't detract at all from the ride experience. The trim on Fury's hill is more variable. Early in the day - or on cooler days - the trim may not activate at all. Later in the day - or on warmer days - it definitely will activate. Generally, you'll know if you'll get trimmed if the turnaround provides a nice pop of airtime. The stronger the airtime in the turnaround the stronger the trim will be when you reach the airtime hill. Because of the speed at which you go over the hill you still get fantastic airtime over the hill regardless if it activates or not. The trim is still noticeable, but it's really more of an inconvenience. The trim on Mako is the most variable of the three. The odds of you getting trimmed are almost directly proportional as to how many people are on the train. On trains that are half full or less odds are you won't get trimmed at all. The resulting airtime on that hill is amazing when you don't get trimmed. If the train is more than than half full then you'll likely get trimmed. That trim is assertive and you can really feel it, especially in the front of the train. It noticeably cuts down on the airtime, but interestingly enough it doesn't really affect the airtime on the next two hills. The difference between a trimmed ride and an untrimmed ride is significant. B&M puts trims on these sections of the rides to reduce the forces going into the next part of the ride, which is usually a turn with significant positive Gs. It's really hard to know exactly how the trim on Orion reacts until we all get to ride it. My initial guess is that because of the height of the hill and the positive Gs on the next part of the ride, the trim will probably fall between Fury and Mako - strong enough to be noticeable on warmer days, less so on cooler days or on trains with fewer riders.

  5. For that video concept, I would love to get a skyride and a new Monster to greatly increase its capacity. Hang glider I think would make a better attraction for Area 72 with the flight theme for that area. I personally think this would actually make a great addition for Oktoberfest. It seems like it would have a pretty small foot print so might be able to fit in where the ladder game is currently and can move/remove it. Call it Glockenspiel and theme ti to a German clock tower.

  10. It’s not the peak, it is the other side of the peak. Think of it like the lifthill where it spans the peak via the two supports.

  11. Why does that support look lie kits not going to be tall enough lol I know it will be but just how it looks now lol

  12. I would imagine that track work should be completed by the end of this month or beginning of February.

  13. You are right its a single support.

  14. T-Bone has been working on the support for a while now i believe. We should see the topping of this air hill today.

  15. So how exactly does a trim brake work? Is it manually set to on? Is there a sensor before the trim that measures how fast you are going and then activates the trim?

  16. Such a great view on the cams currently! Looks like its Cedar Point cam kinda day lol @Ben43065 i was wanting to know who was flying that's right!

  17. Hear me out on this but trims on that camelback might be a good thing. It means Kings Island and b&m anticipate some high forces with the helix. If there were no trims then it would show that Kings Island and b&m are not expecting much force from the helix. If it ends up being okay then the trims will be off. 18. I just checked. Trims are not present in the animation POV, but they are there in the blue prints that were circulating.

  19. Yeah, looking at my edit, I think I put it too far to the left. I think it would be slightly to the left, but not as much as I put it. And we'd probably be looking at the hill straight-on, so you may not be able to see both sides of the hill. Probably something like this.

  20. It’d be cool if something like this was added to Action Zone (and further transform the theme of the area)

  21. Tomorrow, Universal Studios Japan will make a major announcement regarding their new-for-2020 Super Nintendo World area. I have started this thread to discuss the announcement and talk about our most anticipated rides from there. In case you missed it, here's the tease of the land that was released in 2017: Here's a video of the groundbreaking from 2017:

  22. I agree, but in my opinion it would look even better right next to Steel Vengeance in that plot of land that goes over the water. All Cedar Point will have to remove is that silly red coaster.

  24. If we learned anything from Firehawk it's that this isn't a slow process. Vortex is a more substantial structure, but Firehawk went from standing to laying on the ground in a matter of a few days. I think that once any physical demolition starts it'll be very apparent from the Diamondback cam.

  25. Per Don Helbig during the Ace construction tour there will be absolutely no brakes until the final break run.

  26. It's all relative. Pizza tastes better at the park when you're starving. Beer tastes better on a hot day at the ball park (which is why you'll pay $10 for one), etc. Personally, La Rosa's doesn't really do it for me that much anymore in the park or from a store (the novelty of super-sweet sauce wore off for me years ago). But for many, LaRosa's is just as much as part of the park as blue ice cream etc. and no lack of quality will change their preference.

  28. I don’t see why not, other than cutting down trees. IIRC I read CF was going to bring it to other parks. I thought it was stupid but my boys liked it. Once. Also surprised it wasn’t an upcharge. The cycle time is horrendous, it makes Monster seem like Banshee.

  29. They do track expenditures on everything, when parts are replaced by any maintenance personal whether it be electrical, mechanical, tech services etc. we all had/have cards that are scanned at the tool crib/parts office in order to get parts. EVERYTHING from bolts, wheels, sensors, motors etc. are expensed to the ride in question. They know EXACTLY how much has been spent on the ride since it was built. I’m sure if chad or don was bored enough to research they could tell you how many road, up stop and side stop wheels have been replaced since it opened.

  30. Didn't expect that speed hill to have such a nice curvature to it. It's gonna have a nice pop of air for sure.

  31. Most times something closing with such a limited amount of time and haste normally point to a structural failure or a negative inspection by the state. The park would be forced with an option to spend millions of dollars to fix the issue or just decide to retire it completely.

  32. If anyone has been back by the first or second drop, the track literally lays down on the ground. I think it’s a cool effect. Honestly, without feeling the effects yet of course, I’d almost rather have a 300’ drop to an elevation of 0 rather than a height of 300’ and a drop down to 14’. I think it’s going to be really cool!

  33. @Hawaiian Coasters 325 I completely agree. I also think that people should be thankful for what we have instad of what we don't. So what if we don't have the worlds (INSERT RECORD)? Look at what we already have!!! We have Racers, The Beast, Diamondback, Banshee, Mystic Timbers, and Orion. Kings Island has an incredible line up of not just roller coasters, but other rides as well. Again, we should be happy for what we already have.

  34. I definitely am not complaining about this. In fact, I get pretty upset when people complain about Orion just because of how there are parks out there who would die for something like this. Not everything has to smash records.

  35. I second this. I think the Giga looks fantastic and is going to be a great ride. That turnaround looks crazy, the second hill looks crazy, the 85° drop will feel amazing. I think it is far from a lackluster out and back layout. Yeah sure it is short but I doubt that is going to matter. I think it will make you wanting more and get you to ride over and over again.

  36. On the other hand, I will own the role of the enthusiast who is excited to have Orion join our line-up. Kings Island has not disappointed me with their improvement decisions, even if I don't partake in them (waterpark and Planet Snoopy). I truly think the best is yet to come, based on what I have seen from 2017 on.

  37. Doesn’t every ride have a budget?

  38. Records are great on paper, but all they are good for in real life is pride, and pride can only get you so far. And both are temporary. When they're sitting on Orion, aiming to go down that first hill, the last thing on people's minds will whether or not it broke records. (And given the fates of Geauga Lake, Americana/LeSoursdville Lake, and Coney Island, I'd much rather the park make a profit...)
    1 point
  39. The reason they didn't break records with Orion is because of the cost of steel. Fury 325 was 30 million dollars just like Orion. In order to break Records with Orion the park would have likely needed to speed another 10-15 million dollars and they just wouldn't see the return on investment they need. We all want the big recorded breaking coasters but Cedar Fair wants one thing. To make a profit.

  41. Maybe it's because a large chunk of Cincinnati area locals love LaRosas which keeps them in business. I love LaRosas myself, but I understand how some people aren't a fan of it. Kinda like the chili places like Skyline and Gold Star. I'm a Cincy area local.

  42. LaRosas pizza in Kings Island is an icon. Cincinnati pizza and they are a huge KI sponsor. Cmon now FOF96 sit down and eat a slice with me and lets talk this over hahaha

  43. I once bought Dollywood season passes instead of a daily ticket online. Worked out for me though as I got eight visits to the park that year.

  44. IndyGuy4KI was correct! I got an email from Angela, one of the customer service supervisors, and she said just to buy the Gold Passes and call them, and they would refund the Platinum. I just did this now and it was easy as could be! Thank you for the help! They were so nice about it! And I want to stress by no means was I trying to be difficult. I knew it was my fault. I am just glad they were so nice to help me fix it!
