Right. I grew up living behind KI, not my pic, but my view basically, and I love it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk8 points

What do people expect when they buy a house near an amusement park? It's not like they moved in and Kings Island sprung up overnight.6 points

I'd like to see something similar to Copper Head Strike at Carrowinds go into Vortex's spot. Multiple inversions multiple launches, or maybe a traditional lift with a launch midway through the ride. You could do some cool stuff with themeing. Its really I prime piece of real estate.5 points

I really want a peice of Vortex. Can we all get together here and try to get the park to sell some peices?4 points

Here is an idea: On April 11, everyone should make Vortex's logo their profile picture just for that day.4 points

stuff like this really ticks me off... these people are just not smart. how can you move into a house not even a mile from an amusement park and expect silent days? they should be whining to themselves, not the park. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk4 points

Visible gap cut out just beyond the lift peak now, looks like the first drop might be the next to fall.3 points

I’m not bothered by it, when you see the two rides in person Orion looks bigger, that’s all that really matters.3 points
-
Can you PM what neighbor that is? Are they still building houses there?3 points
-
Yeah, I really don't empathize. These people had options and trust me, there are plenty of families out there who wish they did and would gladly live in a cozy McMansion by an amusement park.3 points

Does anyone else find their claim that Diamondback “makes the windows rattle” a bit ridiculous? It can’t possibly be that loud at that distance. I’m glad KI is listening to them though, I think taking action to reduce noise is a good step in improving their relations with the surrounding neighborhoods.2 points
-
I second this. We all (myself included) should try to get a piece if possible.2 points

I see my updates made it here already as I got caught up forgot to share here. As one of the posters above showed, I’m marking my spots and trying to take images as close as possible to the same location(and crop) so they can be later compared in a more apples to apples way. I would think that this is going to come down quickly from here in a few major pieces the way it is carved up.2 points

To all having issues, you are just holding your phone wrong. (The teens may not get this shade) APay&Pay here and I have not had any significant issues at KI or CP, however the WiFi at both parks has been nearly useless this past season. I hope the webcam downtime was worth it to “upgrade” the network.2 points

Well, that was unexpected. I figured Orion had sand in the rails from the start, but adding sand to the spine on parts of Diamondback after 11 years? They added sand to the spine on Leviathan's first drop at CW after the first season because of how close that park is to residential (surrounded, actually) but that's after one season, not 11 years...2 points

Wow didn’t expect them to be adding sand into Diamondback… https://www.wvxu.org/post/kings-island-taking-steps-respond-neighbors-noise-concerns#stream/02 points

Maybe they made the gaps to pull the lift hill down in sections like they did with SOB and Firehawk.2 points

I split out the conversation about addressing noise complaints into this thread:2 points

I also just noticed that all of the structural cross sections below the track gap have been removed, clicking back through the time lapse on the camera, the crane was doing that before making the cut in the track. It appears to have now removed the cross sections to the left of the peak, and is up around the track level.2 points

It would be nice to see some full day time lapse videos from some of these roofs.2 points

I think losing that small bandstand behind the Coke Freestyle (BUT NOT THE Coke FREESTYLE STAND ITSELF (lol @King Ding Dong))and building a path there could be an expansion opportunity for Oktoberfest. And as far as using the L.C.S land, I would imagine they would move the path a bit south towards Banshee's exit along the SOB station and in between The Bat and Banshee.2 points

That's an awesome shot! I would love to be in a house where the back porch faces it and I'd be out there watching and/or filming it!2 points

It’s Miami bluffs in Maineville. Still building I believe. Houses with a view range from 300-500k Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Screw sand, they should go the Silver Star route. https://rcdb.com/1414.htm#p=153432 points

Sounds like a double entendre line from an old Aerosmith song. Going , down Mr. Tyler? (That’s from “Love In An Elevator”...just so the younger posters get it.)2 points

jokes aside, they should really make the next coaster named "Vortex" as a tribute... Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk2 points

A bathroom themed ride would be pretty sweet. You could even keep the name Vortex. The ride ends with you being flushed down a giant toilet.2 points
-
It is pretty strange how they're treating The Vortex removal with such secrecy while the disastrous pile of lumber, Son of Beast, got a royal fanfare. I'm sure they have their reasons.2 points
-
I too would like a peice of Vortex. Its my favorite ride of all time and watching her get torn to bits has tears in my eyes. Please Kings Island offer peices! Even if its just a simple peice id buy it!2 points
-
That’s the exact size that I also would like to buy. I wish that the park would announce whether they are or aren’t planning on offering something.2 points

Anyone else bothered by how much taller DB looks compared to Orion on the Weatherbug cam? I would be guessing it's because of the elevation or something.1 point

According to the WeatherBug camera there is a crane behind the lift hill as of 9:00a.. no doubt up to some nefarious activity.1 point
