I am pretty sure this has been posted before somewhere on KIC but I love it. Thought maybe some new folks has never seen it before. But here is a video by Dane Thomas of KIC . . it just came up on my Recommended YouTube list today. I wonder if they'll change any effects for the new Area 72 experience inside the spaghetti bowl. But I think this video is really cool.4 points

I think night rides on Orion are going to be awesome! That turnaround into the speed hill especially. Can we just consider KI the night ride capital of the world at this point?!4 points

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they release Mystic Timber's POV on media day?3 points

After months of construction, Kings Island’s new Orion roller coaster completed its first test run at 5:29pm today. Video just released from park officials shows one of the ride’s three trains climbing the lift hill and plummeting down the 300-foot first drop. Orion will make its public debut on April 11 when Kings Island opens for the 2020 season when it will become one of only seven giga coasters in the world. Riders will sit four across on a 32-passenger train traverse on a high-speed journey over eight hills and 5,321 feet of track at speeds up to 91 mph on the tallest and fastest roller coaster at Kings Island. Yeah those are just the vertical pieces on the haidrail. However, I do see a strip on the handrail that look kinda blue imo. Maybe that's a similar light strip to Fury. However, we don't know.2 points

Based off of Makos pov it appears Mako has a similar thing attached to the handrail, don’t think it’s lights.2 points

Yes. It all look better than the stuff I tried to create in there! Keep it up!2 points

Oof. More problems for Steel Vengeance. The ride is amazing when open (it is my current favorite ride based on ride experience) but it has issues: from what I have heard, and these are just rumors, is that Mean Streak's old structure is not handling the new RMC trains and increased speed very well. They are heavier than the old PTCs Mean Streak was using, and going nearly 10mph faster at maximum speed. This is apparently forcing Cedar Point's maintenance team to have to repair the structure fairly often, thus why the ride was usually not open for ERT in 2019 and now won't even attempt to operate during ERT on weekdays in 2020. The metal detectors also being needed on this ride also kills the capacity: dispatches are pretty slow because of this, so in spite of 3 trains, Steel Vengeance is likely getting 550pph on good hours, which even Mystic Timbers smashes (I have estimated MT to get 900-1000pph by watching the webcams before). Which is why you see 2 hour waits on even not-so-busy days when Millennium Force is only 20 minutes. As much as I would love a RMC I-Box or Topper Track coaster at Kings Island, these issues make me doubt one will come (same deal as with Intamin coasters) until these issues have been solved. Kings Island has been on a streak of adding tried-and-tested models with good reliability and capacity, and they have had lots of success so far with this.2 points

Here is the video. I also have a Vortex, Flight of Fear (extremely inaccurate), and Invertigo recreation on my channel if you want to check that out. @Klabergian Empire Did you check out the video?2 points

If they are willing to just do an asset sell off, I can't imagine that the park itself will cost a ton of money. This would be wonderful if it happens. There's way too many parks closing out there and not enough opening!2 points

Hello, I was there at Kings Island on the grad night of ‘83. I went to Kings High School, which is less than a mile from the park. Your updated story is right on. I was at the base of the Eiffel Tower accident happened. I remember it vividly, but most folks weren’t aware of what had happened. The key things for me was there was a radio station van there(Q102, I believe) and it played loud music and I can remember the 2 songs playing while the ambulance was there. The song called “Why Me” by Planet P. The lyrics now seemed quite fitting for the moment. The elevator was stopped in the position for several days as my school bus went by daily. Thanks for letting me share my experience of that evening.2 points

I'm glad I'm not the only person that's been thinking this. There's been way fewer social media updates on this project than with Mystic Timbers, for example. I think they didn't really feel a pressing need to with the webcams, but now they're down so it would be nice to get more photos. Sure, ride erection is finished but it would be interesting to see site development, etc., and it's always cool to see photos from places we normally wouldn't be as a guest. It's very strange that this is the largest investment in the park's history and on social media they're treating this like any other addition, maybe even less so.2 points

Nah, this is staying up. It is the base of a new style RMC. Going to literally launch the train onto the track with some really cool jumps. Kinda like being shot out of a cannon. Hence why Cedar Point just trade marked Cannon Launch The Ride. If you don't believe me, just go ask the dipping dots guy, he is in the know.2 points

I've been banging that drum since the Orion layout leaked! I just watched a Beast POV and I think people are underestimating how much this will stomp on the isolation. From the time you turn out of the bottom of the first drop, you're going to be staring right up at a massive blue 200-foot turnaround until you're out of the brake shed. And that was one of the few sections that didn't have a service road next to it, so it felt especially woodsy. Oh well. What's done is done. Just seems crazy to me with SO MUCH other land they could have used. Hopefully they don't bring down too many trees with this Vortex removal/replacement.2 points

Got ya. Well that's sad, he was certainly very useful for photos of the park, and likely could have brought some images of The Vortex destruction that we all are so interested in seeing.1 point

I was going through some old video tapes and found footage I shot of KC from the lower Eiffel Tower observation deck. This was taken on April 7, 1989 at The Beast 10th Anniversary event held for ACE and others. It was the day before the 1989 season opened. https://1drv.ms/v/s!AuNvMH5MAYNOks9mtQBhvIzIMNmV5Q?e=peQeQb Enjoy!1 point

I wonder if it would be legal to sit in one of the cars while riding down the highway. They do have restraints, no?1 point
