  1. The problem with the blue LED is the wavelength of light and where it falls on the luminance, tint and saturation of the spectrum. Blue light is harder to pick up by the naked eye than most like white and red, along with it having a tendency to be filtered out or suppressed by most newer cameras and screens. Add to the fact that this was taken at a time when there was a lot of ambient blue light, it’s barely going to show up. I also believe it wasn’t on full power, but that is only a guess. Since Fury was brought up, I don’t believe ours is going to be apples to apples. Fury has a si

  2. Even if we see a miraculous downturn in infection rates before June - I’d now be surprised to see the park open then. There are many other factors that will affect how this plays out. First, this will instill a fear of congregation in many people for a while. I know that even if you told me it were safe tomorrow, I’d probably still continue to isolate and avoid crowds until I formed my own peace of mind. Second, there’s an entire hire/rehire/training period to think about. This is costing the park precious time to be prepping staff. If given a green light to open by June - they

  3. The current situation could also prompt the industry to spend more. Whatever time is lost will be lost, however, if super low interest rates are around, they could decide to take out a loan and finance a huge project to help generate interest in the park in the next couple of seasons knowing that when things do get back to normal people will be itching to make up for lost time.

  4. This is what I see also. Now here are two more screen grabs, one from over on the River Trail and another from out front in the drop off when the sun is bearing down on it. This is the one from out front and shows a hand rail above the blue LED strip. Ignore the other hotspots from the sun on the track. It also looks like it is illuminating that white strip LED. Here is a look at from the river trail

  6. I can see Orion from my house and that’s what it looks like every day around late afternoon/evening. The sunlight hits the rail and metal catwalk, causing that reflection. I’ll be honest, I can’t see anything different in the video or “lit/unlit” images other than the way the sun is hitting the track and catwalk.

  7. Well, I guess there is that. It is going to be impossible then for me to show what they are doing when it’s testing during the day then which is why they are doing it that way of course. I can try to pull the exposure a bit, but if it can’t translate to video accurately then we will have to wait till they finally fire it up at night. I will say I though it was the sun’s reflection on it at first, until it did the same exact thing 2 times in a row as it cascaded up the lift hill. It was amazingly bright in the middle of the day, I can’t image how this will light up that side

  8. That blue line (from the perspective of the lot), doesn't appear to be LED, definitely doesn't look illuminated, if it is. Waltny's pics, when the lights were on and off, show that blue line being unchanged; I think that's metal. As for where the line stops (perspective of river trail) Maybe it is! Thanks for trying to make it clear to me; I'm just not fully convinced yet. However.. What are those two "vertical" lines between the sections of the gate. Fury and Levi don't have those; not even fury, who has the LEDs for comparison. EDIT: attached is Waltny's photo; seen above

  9. Remember, one of those is a channel for fall protection harnesses. Banshee, Valravn, and Fury all have these. Diamondback uses a steel cable, but is the same concept. If you look closely at their lifts on POVs you can see it.

  10. Who knows at this point? Maybe there are three separate light strips that run up the lift hill and give a meteor shower effect. The lights could possibly be programmed to sync with the train on the lift hill.

  11. What the hell are you talking about? Even if a "national lockdown" or ordered closure of non-essential businesses occurs, we're a far way from martial law—let alone the national guard gunning people down in the streets. That's not even occurring in other nations.

  12. With all the things going on in the world we need something to keep us positive and cheerful. We will use this thread to brighten everyone's day. I know we have some separate threads for some of this, but let's use this one to post anything positive to support our fellow KIC members while we wait for thing to get back to normal and the toll gates to open. We can post about all parks not just KI in here as well. 13. I have a brilliant idea! Let’s quarantine everyone and then take their booze away as well. I don’t think they understand the concept of civil unrest. https://www.lcb.pa.gov/Consumers/Pages/Coronavirus.aspx If this happens in Ohio.....Road Trip to Kentucky! + DeWine would be toast.

  16. You're using common sense. They're not going to slam the gate and say, "We got you suckers! See you next year!" Everybody give the park a 'lil' credit!

  17. I don't think there's any pulsing. I think you might think that the graininess caused by the zoom is pulsing. You can see the same thing happening with the track on the drop.

  18. I'm just confused. How do we know it's not just the sun shining on it? Also, why would they be testing the light during the day?

  21. I forgot it used to sound like that. I know they filled in part of the hammerhead with sand this past winter, but when was this done on the lift hill? I seem to recall discussions a few years back about a change in wheels, but I don't remember hearing about sand.

  23. I think they should invest in a raptor clone and an S&S 4d freespin since there aren't any of those anywhere close to Louisville. Anything to give them a more unique edge over KI.

  24. Orion is mostly likely already paid for. Now they must recoup the cash. Keeping the park closed for a season will likely hinder future projects but the park should recover nicely. Lets this be a reminder we should not take sporting events and amusement parks for granted.

  25. I think Orion's que is going to be pretty spectacular, going off the concept from the drone and coaster promos. Mystic Timbers was a nice change and added some good theming and provided a backdrop for the story and I'm sure Orion's will do the same. Also its highly rumored that FoF's show building will be altered to reflect on the Orion story. If there's one que I'd want them to work on/ add to it would be Adventure Express'. Adding some posters along the walk would be nice as well as some appropriate music and maybe audio similar to Mystic Timbers.

  28. We tired to get a refund from a hotel booking and it got denied. I think what would be awesome if the season gets delayed or canceled is to maybe leave the park open over the winter off season. Maybe just to let us walk around the park.

  29. I feel like Cedar Fair will provide some sort of compensation for the delayed season, wether it be discounted season passes ect. If they don’t then I personally probably won’t buy a season pass again, at least for the near future.

  30. This is uncharted territory for sure, there is just no way CF is going to spew the "no rainchecks, no refund" line on all the season pass holders, basically half their customer base. That would be corporate suicide and they know it. It could take decades to get that customer base back. I would highly caution against putting a stop payment order on the payment plan. For one banks and going to charge you for that and second it breaks the credit agreement. That will be reported to the credit agencies. If you are KI Gold pass holder KI has not broken the agreement at all at this point. I

  33. There has been years of work on why there is a cold and flu season, but it is still inconclusive to an extent. The best explanation we have at this point is due to a coating on the virus which basically melts in higher temperatures and hardens into a protective coating at lower temperatures. Combined with the fact that the warm moist air is likely easier on your respiratory system and the cold and flu seems to die out in the summer. Even though it is still possible to get sick and spread these diseases. Note if these assumptions are accurate it will be easier to get infected indoors this s

  38. I'm not a money guy by any means. I just do my best to make it and save it so maybe this idea wouldn't work. Maybe we should kind of pause life if we can. Maybe the banks can pause mortgages and pause car payments. This is really going to put the economy in a down fall. However, our health as a world as to come first. We need to take the recommendations seriously and we will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe this is Gods way (or mother natures depending on your believes) to tell us the world needs to work together and be at peace. Stop taking life granted and slow

  42. ^ It appears to be on at the moment, but I would expect further legal action with respect to the primary. The news moves fast these days. With all the confusion amid the current crises, I think it's highly likely that in-person voting, mail-in voting, or both are somehow extended beyond tomorrow. In the good news department, the first clinical trials of a candidate vaccine have begun, though the estimate is still 12-18 months for availability assuming they are successful. Other candidate vaccines are in development around the world.
