  2. This could be interesting for the park. On one hand, a lot of people won't have as much discretionary spending money available once all is said and done, but on the other hand, a lot of people will also be looking for things to do once everything goes back to normal (as much as possible), so we could see an increase in amusement park attendance in the long run.

  3. You are right. Season passes are cheap Compared to individual tickets! And you only have to go a few times to get your moneys worth. These people think they are in the park for $100-200 season pass! They should appreciate that they get into the park so cheaply for a whole year And be willing to support the park in a time like this

  4. Here's an interesting account from a medical worker in New Orleans, which is currently experiencing a surge of cases. Some even relatively young patients there experiencing respiratory failure. Follow guidelines from your health officials and stay safe, everyone! https://www.propublica.org/article/a-medical-worker-describes--terrifying-lung-failure-from-covid19-even-in-his-young-patients

  5. I have never seen the whining and entitlement like the some of the season pass holders on FaceBook posts from the park. Good lord, I’d feel like giving them NOTHING at this point.

  6. ^I have a friend who's an anti-vaxer and its kinda scary how seriously she takes that position.

  7. You know what’s funny? I was thinking about this the other night. I don’t think I’ve even actually knowingly met an anti-vaxer in person. It seemed like the whole thing sprung up over night on Facebook with several people preaching to the choir who really have no other way of making themselves feel smart. I feel like it’s an incredibly tiny minority who believes that it causes autism with an army of people standing in their soapboxes talking about how much smarter they are than them. 12. I would like to thank IndyGuy for starting this thread, first time I've signed into KICentral in a long time(this topic I needed and reason why I did)! I had some rough years and good, and miss reading Terp,Goble, others, but nice to read and see pics from those who've stuck around or could be around(job admitted) and new members. 13. That would actually be pretty neat. It would have to be a very compact design though. The ride would have to fit within a 105x110 space.

  14. As I posted last night when announcement went out to the employees of all parks and offices closed until April 5th, the opening had to be pushed back because of training. Don’t see on-line ride op training working so well.

  16. The meal plans are pretty low pice Compared to individual meals. 10 meals break even. the issue is probably that people have taken such big advantage of these season passes and meal plans they are getting upset that they won’t get 50 meals or 25 visits this year. But it’s a sense of entitlement. I do think that Cedar Fair has excellent customer service and They will will do things to make their customers happy. Unlike six flags.

  17. I definitely believe this year will likely be a lower attended year if they do open (which I think they will at some point). However, I think that could mean that 2021 will see a higher spike in attendance probably.

  18. I’ll gladly take more Winterfest days. It’s my favorite time of year to go to the park. longer hours at Winterfest would be nicer. Five hours goes quickly at that of that evemt

  19. I feel for you! It is very easy to blame someone or something else. The fact of the matter is nobody really knows for sure. Saw a recent study that said kids were 67% more likely to develop autism if their grandmother was a smoker...something along the lines of it being due to some sort of epigenetic modification that the grandmother passes on to the mother when she’s pregnant. Every person I know that is on the spectrum either has parents that smoke or their grandmother did...so let's see if this forum has any outliers, which it will because almost nothing is 100%... Jenny McCarthy, probably credited with the whole anti-vax movement (whether true or not I don't know), but certainly very vocal about it is you guessed it...a smoker....but she will not entertain that could be the reason why her child has autism. Some of my friends that are smokers are quick to blame their child's autism on anything but their own habit... It could be due to anything - smoking, drinking, chemicals in the ink in tattoos that get into the bloodstream, environmental factors, what the mother ate while pregnant...the list goes on and on and you can probably find a study somewhere that would substantiate your viewpoint...and many of these studies are also not done scientifically, which then further erodes and propagates wrong information...

  20. But it does help. Winterfest is included in your platinum. I know you are gonna say but but but... I could have just bought a gold pass. Well Winterfest is at several Cedar Fair Parks. Also last year King's Dominion added Fast Lane to Winterfest so I'm sure your all Season Fast Lane is good there if its all chain Fast Lane like mine is. After seeing how slow the single rider line moved last year I wouldn't mind seeing the fastlane added for King's Island Winterfest too.

  21. I'm autistic, but very mild. However, as a child, I was very sensitive to loud noises where I had a hard time at Kings Island because of the loud speakers that ride ops use for announcements as well as the starts bells on some of the older rides.

  22. ^I also why its mostly limited to autism when there are a myriad of conditions that you can get a childbirth. Heck, the one I had is one of them and I've met parents at group meetings, and that kind of thinking is never brought up (well, only to laugh it out of the room). And yes, my support group, both the one I see as well as the national group that its under, is very anti-anti-vaxer.

  23. Oh totally possible. I’ve seen message board stuff of people saying, “I watched my friend’s kid descend into autism immediately after the shot!” And so on. I’ve just never actually met someone that knew to believe that. I’m not defending it in anyway way. I think it’s ridiculous. Growing up they had things at school where we would go in a few weeks before the first day and get all the shots. No one ever thought anything of it.

  30. The problem is with the lack of testing, there isn't a way to track where the virus is spreading, and thus we don't know where it may be concentrated and where it has the potential to be spreading faster, and the CDC can't respond by doing more detailed work. I expect that curve to be going nowhere but up for a while. And then you have situations like in Florida where the curve is no doubt going up.

  31. Well, I'm glad we now have an answer re: Opening Day. I, for one, am looking forward to the mid-May opening, because now I know I can attend (barring any lingering COVID-19-restriction that says I can't or shouldn't). If Kings Island was opening in April as planned (excluding COVID-19 from the equation), I may have had to miss that weekend as my family typically celebrates Easter the day before (as well as the day of). While I could handle missing that day (as I could have just gone the next weekend), I feel better knowing there is a higher likelihood that I'll be at the park on Opening Day! EDIT: Also, this... If someone asks when KI plans to open, we can just say this:

  39. Whenever I'm stressed, worn out, and/or its winter and and am ever-so-anxious for Summer to arrive and all the great things that come with it, I turn to one of my favorite songs of all time... The world seems to have stopped on its axis, and we're not even sure at this point if or when our lives will regain some sense of normalcy in the following months, but for about 3 minutes, one can escape that all in this ol' gem:
