  2. A study shows 3 in 5 people are of this "I'm not letting it stop me" attitude and all that will do is ensure that nothing opens for a long time...and the longer this goes on the more likely we will see martial law enacted...

  3. No, because I care more about it being a good ride then if its a clone. There are tons of rides I would be very happy to see cloned and show up at Kings Island. Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm for instance, its fun, decent but not amazing capacity, and compact. I love watching the lighting on the ride at night as well. It would be a very easy ride to clone. Sticking with Knott's, Sierra Sidewinder, another compact easy to clone ride, which is why there are two copies, one in Dubai, and one in England. I hate terrible cheap clones, like the Vekoma SLC models. Also clones reduce my desire to travel, when a park installs a ton of clones why spend a bunch of time and money visiting the park if I have already ridden all the rides somewhere else. But if you want to see a clone done right look at Dragonflier at Dollywood, its a stock model from Vekoma. It is also the only copy in North America and its a good ride. Its not like Kings Island does not already have clones, Invertigo, Flight of Fear, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Flying Ace Aerial Chase , Woodstock Express and the Great Pumpkin Coaster are all clones. If you add in rides which are the same basic layout like Racer and Bat, more than half of the coasters at Kings Island are clones or have been cloned. The park only has six coasters with totally unique layouts.

  7. I expect Kings Island and Cedar Point's opening to be a process and not just open. Here is my guess of how the process would work 1) start by doing the media day/first rider auction events 2) then do some season pass events for Orion and have some select other rides open 3) have a season pass event with the whole park open 4) then open the park to everyone else Just a thought of mine. I could be way off.

  9. If traveling is restricted, they're going to want to draw in as much of the local crowd as they can and I'm not sure raising prices is the best way to go about that, especially with the way things are going right now.

  10. No necessarily. Landscaping could mean mulching, planting trees, putting grass seed down(or whatever they use to make grass grow fast), and putting gravel in some areas. Final painting could be touch up paint on the rails of the ride and other places. Theming could mean installing props, textured/fixed lighting, and sound related items. I’d imagine these responsibilities full under different teams.

  11. The meal plans are pretty low pice Compared to individual meals. 10 meals break even. the issue is probably that people have taken such big advantage of these season passes and meal plans they are getting upset that they won’t get 50 meals or 25 visits this year. But it’s a sense of entitlement. I do think that Cedar Fair has excellent customer service and They will will do things to make their customers happy. Unlike six flags.

  14. Call me obsessed but when I get my 1st house I'm planning on dedicating a room to KI, like maybe an office or mancave, with some custom decor and such. I have a few ideas but I thought it would be neat to share on here!

  15. With all the things going on in the world we need something to keep us positive and cheerful. We will use this thread to brighten everyone's day. I know we have some separate threads for some of this, but let's use this one to post anything positive to support our fellow KIC members while we wait for thing to get back to normal and the toll gates to open. We can post about all parks not just KI in here as well. Post your favorite: POV's Coaster and park pics Coaster YouTube videos (no self promotion) Positive quotes (not religious or political) Anything you think might brighten another KIC members day. *Anything negative at all will just be removed at the discretion of the admin team. I will start with this picture on KMAA. I can not wait to replicate this pic with Orion in the background.

  16. The pictures looked to me like some filtering or adjustment or something was done by the camera. I believe it was a high end camera, so maybe HDR or some other algorithm on the camera made the color punchy with a grey cloudy background?

  18. At work today, several doctors were giving their opinion. For the healthy, as the virus spreads, it will be unnoticed or mild. Like with the vaccines for other things, this builds herd immunity. It's the outliers that are the most at risk. So while the isolation slows down the spike, it increases the time that herd immunity takes to build. But it helps to save the vulnerable. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

  19. I don’t follow the issue closely but I believe their concern is the other compounds in the vaccine used to stabilize/transport it. Admittedly they are not desirable, but it is believed they are at safe levels.

  20. Unless something has changed the kdfans website claims to have seen documents which suggest that the S&S Free Spin is a custom layout. No idea how custom the design would be, but it does at least sound like it will not be the same ride as what you have seen or ridden at Six Flags parks. If the clone is on the other side of the planet does it matter? Also there is a giant difference between building two and building twenty. I really see no issue with getting a copy of a ride when the original is in China, almost no one in the US would even know it exists, let alone ride both. While Raptor is the original, a clone was built a few years after it opened in Japan, since then it has been relocated to France. I do not look at the ride any differently just because a second copy exists. I cannot say the same for the Batman ride which exists at so many Six Flags parks.

  24. For those concerned with contaminated surfaces on take-out food, a good strategy is to transfer your food to clean dishes, put those dishes in the oven, throw the original packaging away, and wash your hands. Grocery stores, restaurants and other essential businesses are directed to maintain 6' distances, use good hand-washing and sanitation practices, screen employees' temperatures before they come to work, etc. Ohio has simplified the process of applying for unemployment and eliminated the usual waiting period. Those whose jobs have been eliminated/suspended and who qualify should apply ASAP. Those who continue working essential jobs are literal heroes.

  26. Multiple restaurants are doing this thing where you call your order ahead of time and you go up and you wait in your car and they bring it out to you.
    1 point
  27. There is also the potential for contamination of the packaging. I have not seen recent data on the survivability on surfaces but last I read it can last hours to days. Same goes for grocery store items. Need to be careful with that as well. A critical issue that must be addressed immediately as well.

  28. People being crammed inside a fast food restaurants kitchen also isn’t good social distancing .

  29. If restaurants were closed to carry-out and delivery, grocery stores would be a lot more crowded as the only food sources available. Crowded grocery stores aren't good for social distancing.

  30. Good lord when did everyone become an expert on this situation? The people are doing what they can, life will go on. So many people making comparisons, and showing graphs on something hardly ANYONE knows about. Let the scientists and doctors get the data they need. The #'s are nowhere near accurate at the moment anyway. Also the ones worried about a amusement park opening right now kind of disgust me, it's disappointing but get over it we got bigger problems. Stay home unless its essential.

  31. Omg parks aren’t going to be closed forever. One domino effect it would collapse an entire industry and a big tourism chunk. Not to mention then the explosion of unemployed vs jobs avail if that happened. Most will likely do the suggested 8 weeks then do rolling restarts. Possibly with locals first then allow border states etc. I don’t expect disney to go all out right off The Bat. They will probably do a soft opening like AP and locals and the reservations that weren’t canceled. Then start to refill again. i think they could offer a choice but I’d be unhappy if they paused my plan as I have it set to end a certain month for a reason. But giving others who have different circumstances sure. And if you call I’m sure they will work with people because this is such a unprecedented event.

  33. History lesson time LOL: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-16517764 Hong Kong is a territory of China, similar to how the United States has territories that are not officially states (or cities) to the USA. Washington, D.C. would be one of them. In addition, the United States has five major U.S. territories: American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each such territory is partially self-governing that exists under the authority of the U.S. government. The United States also has many uninhabited territories as well... Residents of D.C. can vote for US presidents, but the remaining territories cannot.

  34. I definitely believe this year will likely be a lower attended year if they do open (which I think they will at some point). However, I think that could mean that 2021 will see a higher spike in attendance probably.

The world seems to have stopped on its axis, and we're not even sure at this point if or when our lives will regain some sense of normalcy in the following months, but for about 3 minutes, one can escape that all in this ol' gem:
