  2. Good morning, everyone. You woke up to a world where the sun came up again today, where flowers are starting to bud, where blue skies are either in your present or in your near future, and where you are loved and understood by people who love and understand you. You woke up to a world that contains the sounds of laughing babies and orchestras and big crowds laughing or singing or cheering together. You woke up to a world full of color and life. You woke up to a world where Kings Island and other amusement parks exist, where people have made and someday will continue to make memories and stories together. You woke up to a world where, someday soon, Dollywood will make cinnamon bread, Carowinds will start testing Fury 325, Busch Gardens Williamsburg will be full of flowers, and Magic Kingdom will be full of those Mickey's-head-shaped-balloons-inside-a-giant-clear-balloon balloons. You woke up to a world where yourself and others are working to make the world a better place, even if not everyone necessarily agrees on how to do it or what that looks like. You woke up to a world where people create stories for the purpose of igniting imaginations, and people create poetry to help express feelings we didn't know we had and imagine experiences we've never experienced, and people create art to help us notice the beauty in things we didn't know had beauty. You woke up to a world full of both people very like you and people not like you at all, and doesn't that make things so much more interesting? Have a great day.

  3. My prediction on Racer is that they'll paint and go back to the original painting scheme for the 50th. I have no inside info on that, it is just a prediction.

  15. I think they might be in a hold status but I don't think the park is going to lose much money from this as long as they open mid May what ever days are lost are being added back to the calendar. Let's hope for the best and keep are heads held up high. This will be over before we know it.

  16. I know this was written a year before they announced Vortex departure, but now that it's removed I'm betting we'll see an RMC in place of Vortex. I've said this in other threads, but I would love to see a ground up wooden topper track roller coaster similar to outlaw run. The one thing I would do is make it the same height as what Vortex was; maybe 150 feet instead. I would also love to see them add an actual loop to pay tribute to SOB. Maybe they could introduce the batwing element like Vortex had. That's my thoughts for today. Take care now. Bye bye then!

  18. I hope for this more than I can express in words. I agree with this 100%. I doubt that the park will get something major for the 50th. But I would imagine that we could see a ride or two go by then.

  19. I'm not sure if I had one for KI, but in my youth I had pennons from Cedar Point and Geauga Lake and I think I had one from Canada's Wonderland too. I wish I had held onto those.

  21. Son of Beast would be the best RMC hybrid for Kings Island. They should make a layout of what Son of Beast should've been like with the vertical loop at a nice position of the ride. They could add an inversion before you go to the chain and it can be taller or the same height. Then it can have the same drop layout as Son of Beast does and they can figure out the rest of the layout. It would be nice to see the ride come on Kings Island's 50th anniversary. It would be a record breaking RMC hybrid. It can be called Ultimate Beast.

  22. There’s two words associated with that head banging... ball joints, rougarou along with a lot of early B&M coasters were built with ball joint Connections to supports unlike flanged connections today. Tolerances weren’t as tight as they are now, ball joints allow a lot of movement during installation in case the support wasn’t in the exact alignment but also causes the track to slightly move during operation causing that head banging...

  23. There have only been 3 conversions. You are right that there is a reason they were converted. Powers that be deemed them to have more 'hype' than the stand ups they replaced. Anything is marketable if you have the right people handling it.

  24. I'm hoping for some miracle-combination of warm weather and medicinal knowledge to tackle this thing early so we can enjoy the parks in June. I understand that is optimistic-talk. Every day advances are being made by doctors, I think. New techniques to save lives, and all that. I'm not gonna say "cure" because technically there is no cure for a virus other than a vaccine, but if doctors figure out how to bring people out of this successfully we could indeed see a "miracle". Time is on our side if we can slow this thing down, and let scientists figure it out. Not saying it will happen, but just hoping.

  25. During today's Covid-19 update from Governor DeWine (and Dr. Acton and Lt. Governor Husted), there was a brief aside from John Husted that may be of particular importance for Kings Island and Cedar Point. Essentially what he said is that even after they start opening businesses back up, the social distancing requirements (6 feet between people, etc) will remain in place for a while longer to make sure we don't create a second spike. Obviously, it is not exactly possible for amusement parks to operate under those stipulations, so I would expect KI and CP to be among the last businesses in the state to reopen.

  27. I personally would not mind this addition at all. There are still a lot of choices on manufacturers and styles/models. My brother has been on Carowinds' Copperhead Strike. I think The Vortex piece of land would work quite well for a coaster of that type.

  28. I really think that any kind of an RMC could replace Vortex. I think that it would be a great addition to the park. It definitely would not be as good as like Steel Vengeance of course. But maybe something like Storm Chaser where It is not as intense. It would probably be maybe a year or two before they start actually building it.

  33. Liberty University = Jerry Falwell. He only wants them back for the revenue. He's a money gobbler, not concerned about actual welfare of people, like every other Televangelist. He's nothing more than a snake oil salesmen in a tailored suit - a faith healer that tricks people into thinking they are safe by praying alone.

  34. I believe the reason for the 2006 closure was the ride was going to be relocated to another Paramount Park before Cedar Fair made their acquisition. If memory serves, I think it was going to Carowinds.

  38. This is the only Mack coaster I'd want to replace Vortex. I don't even care about making up the height of Vortex as much as I do making up for the loss of inversions

  39. I'm happy somebody created this topic. I just recently had a dream where Cedar Point modified Rougarou a second time. This time they removed the second half of the ride so they could fix the headbanging issues. They removed track from the mid-course brake run, then started a new route. Now I'm not saying Kings Island will get Rougarou, but maybe they could throw in an element that Rougarou already has. For instance, that bent loop that was hyped up in 2015 is still the only Floorless roller coaster to have a loop like that. Let it be the first Floorless to have the vest restraints. Those vests don't bother me, but I know they bother other people. Kings Island could make it the second longest Floorless roller coaster in the world so that way Dominator keeps the record for longest at Kings Dominion. Maybe they could bring back The Vortex name for the Floorless too. The possibilities are endless.

  40. Universal Studios Beijing is getting a Hulk clone (with drive tires and not an LSM launch like speculated beforehand, also the photo was taken from the grassy area outside the plant, next to the road, I didn't go onto the gravel because I didn't want to trespass, but I got a good enough image of a piece of track's tag close up. This was taken in February of 2018.) https://rcdb.com/17349.htm (Also Mods, if the image isn't okay, feel free to remove it)

  41. 1. Launches have come a long way since the days of Flight of Fear. Premier and Mack do a pretty good time in getting the kinks out during the first year. 2. Not all companies have B&M levels of lack of downtime their first year. Just because they're a bit worse than B&M in that regard doesn't mean they're long term problems. B&M isn't the be-all-end-all. 3. Parks need the variety I'm actually hoping the Intamins that are opening at the Busch/Sea World parks do well because I want to see them be a player in the US market again.

  42. I honestly hope that the next coaster DOES have inversions because we have lost over 10 inversions with the removal of Firehawk and Vortex.

  43. If I count (and remember) correctly, I believe there were 11 new coasters built for 2019 in just North America and Europe.... out of those 8 have inversions. New-for-2019 coasters with inversions in North America: Yukon Striker (Canada's Wonderland), Steel Curtain (Kennywood), Maxx Force (SFGAm), Copperhead Strike (Carowinds), New-for-2019 coasters with inversions in Europe: Zardra (Poland), Dynamite (Germany), Fury (Germany), Untamed (Holland) New for 2019 coasters that did not have inversions... Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure (Universal's Islands of Adventure), Kentucky Flyer (Kentucky Kingdom), Wilkolak (Poland). So... judging by those numbers, I'd say that inversions are very much IN ;-) I am nearly willing to bet money that Kings Island's next coaster will include them as well. Oh, and just for posterity, launching is very much IN too.

  44. On one hand I will ask why does The Racer need to be RMC'ed to extend the life of it. Look at Jack Rabbit at Kennywood. It is 100 this year without RMC touching it. On the other hand its a lousy ride and extremely rough. I don't ride it much and many trips I skip it.

  45. I am late to this thread. But there are three things that I would be happy with, an RMC Hybrid, a B&M Dive Coaster, or a Copperhead Strike type of Coaster.
