  1. Probably because we are in for a treat with another coasternation article of the proposed Orion bin system that was never used. ”Did you know at one time Kings Island had proposed bins on Orion?”...

  2. I think it's a little soon to make too many assumptions about Worlds of Fun. Today was their first day open, and they are the first park in the Cedar Fair chain to do so. It would not surprise me if on the first day Kings Island is open that there are a lot of park personnel on ride platforms and in other places. They are assessing and getting used to how all the new procedures are going to work.

  3. Yes, he is the communications director for the park. He and Don are the men in charge of being the source.

  4. I'm gonna be updating this later, but figured I would update with initial impressions of the park so far. Firstly, signs and stickers everywhere for keeping distancing and wearing masks. A really cool triage tent that you just walk through for taking temperature. they are verifying you have a reservation before you get through the parking gate. On roller coasters they are running every other row for each train then spraying them with cleaning spray, running them empty and then loading after return. Mobile ordering works with food places, ordered with the barbeque place here successfully.

  6. That is why they close at 7 - to cycle those thru the line before the next day 11 am opening I wouldn't be surprised if they cut the line off early though so that they are not running much past the closing time....

  9. RFYLCB and Congo usually open with the park, while WWC typically opens 1-2 hours after park open..whether that will be the case this year remains to be seen. Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see.

  10. 1. This has been discussed ad nauseum in other threads. 2. The park has to comply with the ADA, so I would think they would continue to use the green card system. As far as other items, lockers are a source of revenue, so they will likely continue to be utilized. I doubt they would allow carry ons. There are lockers available at the front gate, Action Zone, Rivertown, and I assume Area 72. As a message board that caters to KI enthusiasts, it also has been discussed ad nauseum to carry light, and try to carry only what will fit in a zippered cargo pocket. 3. Why is this even a thread?

  11. It you take the theoretical half capacity of all the adult coasters (Not Woodstock or Ariel Ace) it's 7105 riders per hour. So let's just all pretend everyone will evenly distribute.

  15. That is great! Yes I will be attending as well. Have not been to this park in several years and was thrilled to hear it had been purchased and would continue on. Definitely looking forward to it! I will be rocking the KIC shirt so if you see me definitely feel free to say hello. Would be fun to meet you all in person

  17. I wouldn't say incredibly fast considering Jimmy Buffet sells out Riverbend in an hour I will say however that it does seem to be going smoothly. Kudo's to KI's IT department (would that be KIIT (kit) for short :))

  18. Yes, probably not on opening day, but I'll likely be working it starting the 4th. I cannot say anything about the specific operation of the ride. All I know is that the park plans on opening the ride with the park on opening day. Any other details are subject to speculation. Edit: Me not working on opening day is for personal reasons, don't read anything into that lol

  20. After I completed my reservation, I had to click on the "Add Mobile Tickets and Vouchers" button under the Me tab, and then enter my order confirmation number. After I entered that, the individual reservations showed up.

  21. Season passes have always been subject to capacity limits, which are subject to change. COVID-19 has, of course, dramatically reduced the capacity of all types of businesses. The way I see it, I bought a 2021 season pass, and whatever visits I get this season during the pandemic are a bonus.

  22. I understand why the park is limiting reservations to one day initially...there’s just no way for them to predict the demand...but it is about a 3 1/2 hour drive each way for me and my family...it’s not thrilling to think we will be driving for 7 hours total to be in the park for just 8. (We usually make all of trips 3 day trips to make it worth our while.) I can live with every other condition the park has listed, but this might be a deal breaker for my family. I wonder what the odds are that it will change in the near future...not that anyone can really predict that.

  24. It is really quite simple: If you do not want to wear a mask at a place of business that requires a mask, don't go. Please understand though- DO NOT cause a scene because an employee has asked you to put the required mask on. You are an adult that made an adult decision to enter the business that required wearing a mask. The employee is simply doing their required job. If you cause a scene with an employee that asked you to put your mask on it should trigger an IMMEDIATE REMOVAL from the premises (do not pass GO, do not collect $200). Have a nice day!

  25. Being in a situation last year where I didn't buy a season pass to Ki,( Relied solely on the free tickets of friends who worked at the park.) I shelled out $10 to go to the beach last year and it was definitely worth it. Kings Island great if you want the whole package but if you are a family that doesn't care about amusement parks and just wants a water park, Kings Island is not a very good option IMO. That's a lot of money to spend to wait in really long lines. I love Kings Island but man Soak City is not what it should be. The capacity on the waterslides is horrible (compare it to a park like holiday world) The metal on the swimsuit policy is very hard to deal with for most swimsuits. The water park is very spread out and has very hot concrete. There is not a lot of seating and a waterpark this size should have more than one lazy river.

  26. I completely agree. The Beach had some really intense body slides that were a lot of fun. I actually preferred The Beach to Soak City by a great margin. More fun slides, laid back and never any crowds made it a fun time.

  28. At least for the first month, no night rides (except for the 4th). Hopefully after things open up and settle down, maybe August will have some later hours...fingers crossed. Slight bummer, but still exciting to see the park opening!

  29. People can decide whether or not they want to eat those foods, but people can’t avoid the toxic chemicals in the smoke blowing in their faces as they walk around the park. I sure hope this change is permanent, Kings Island should have been a non-smoking park years ago.

  31. Have to agree with you there Spooky. While the front gate might not be the worst place it is pretty high up there on the list.

  32. Everyone so concerned about Covid but not realizing they are pushing all smokers to the front gate to smoke, with no mask... Sounds like a great recipe they got cooking up there.

  33. I never ride Firehawk because it looked scary. I like Diamondback and think it's the best ride. I think Orion will be awesome! I hope I am not to scared to ride it. I like space stuff. My dad is now helping me with each post so I hope it is better.

  34. @DubVLegend, as I understand it, the two day tickets will be valid after the season passholder preview week, not during. So after the passholder week, I would assume that you can schedule more than one day with your pass.

  35. So anyone that does things that are bad for them is weak minded. This guy must be perfect. I'm thankful to meet Mr Perfect, stay far from my wife though, she'd be all over you. I'm sure you'd just push her down though, tell her she's weak minded and that you only stay close to perfect people. Have a feeling you're racist as well. I have no proof, but I want to be like Mr perfect and form my own opinions and judge people

  37. Smoking is a addiction and also a joy to many. People know the risk and some choose to continue. Weak minded? Thanks for your judging of a group of people. I don't know anything about you, besides you are good at forming opinions and judging others.

  38. That's a pretty a broad brush. I doubt you'd say the same about people with other bad habits or addictions. Almost everyone does something they regret. Banning smoking entirely might minutely improve the experience of non-smokers who aren't in a group with smokers, but KI is a business and a lot of their customers are smokers. KI is a product. They have to cater to a customer. A national park is not a business, and will exist whether people come or not. They can have that policy with no ill-effects. I do get an occasional whiff of smoke from time to time at KI. I think the best solution would be smoking areas more off the beaten path. I don't know what laws exist for something like this, but if they could legally add lounges where adults over 21 could go inside and smoke that might further fix the problem.

  40. 11 - 7 is one shift. This is designed to limit the number of employees needed to operate the park.

  42. Well, life can be annoying sometimes. You can either complain about it or you can roll with the punches. Either way, you're not always going to get what you want.

  43. But I mean ultimately...if they're not going to enforce rules as simple as social distancing in queues? They probably shouldn't be open, unfortunately. Yeah, your comfort is more important than the health of every other person. People with this attitude are the problem.

  44. To be honest, I actually preferred many of the Beach's slides to those of most parks, if even for their uniqueness. That having said, their uniqueness (along with their age, I'm sure) is part of what would make them so difficult to relocate into a different park. A lot of them utilize uneven terrain and therefore, couldn't easily be transplanted.

  47. They could cattle pen a fairly large section of Timberwolf for smokers. Has seats and plenty of room for distancing. Not exactly centrally located but would eliminate the entrance and exit hassle.
