  1. We will not display the image on KIC. Some want to be surprised and we want to respect the park.

  2. After being at Indiana Beach for 2 days in a row, I can tell you 95% of people are not taking it serious any longer. I am glad Cedar Fair is requiring masks. Yes they are a pain, they're sweaty, and itch your face. Respectively, wearing them two days in a row to be on coasters is a small price to pay to keep myself and people around me safe. Oh, and for the people who did have them on I never saw one person lose them on a coaster.

  3. Staying at great wolf tonight, was hoping to get a view of Orion. So close, yet so far... (Orion is right behind the building, the dorms can barely be seen to the left of it.)

  4. ^ I second. No cars were missing, which was confirmed even more when I got trained there last season. As for headbanging, I hardly notice when my head taps the shoulder harness (emphasis on taps ). I love Invertigo's intensity and its forwards/backwards experience, and it is another one of my favorites. I hope it stays for a while longer, and in the meantime I'll take advantage of when its line is short. -BFF, who cares nothing about which ride may leave next after losing 2 favorite coasters in 2 years, and is very excited to ride Invertigo in mere days. Also her cumulative ride count on Invertigo is currently 55 with the first milestone (100) in reach hopefully soon.

  5. True, but it also renders the mask completely pointless and ineffective at protecting from COVID-19.

  6. For those that attend opening day, just remember, the park is feeling its way through this, and will likely be operating at a very cautious speed. Its just as new to them as it is to guests - so its gonna take time for them to get their footing. Also, prepare yourself that wait for Orion will likely be very, very long... EXCRUCIATINGLY long. Due to Covid, hourly capacity is likely to be limited to 1/4 (or less) than designed. In addition, new rides like Orion are, understandably, prone to some downtime. I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm just pointing out the potential that things may be a bit chaotic, or slow moving. Please keep eyes and minds open to the fact that the staff is doing everything they can to make the day a success - its not their fault that the park is on restricted operating procedures. They have some long, challenging days ahead of them - and they need positive support. Take time to thank the employees that you interact with for working under the conditions.

  7. I have been seeing a lot of judgement towards Orion from people who haven't ridden it yet on the pov videos, comparing it to Fury and all of that. In my opinion Orion and Fury are incomparable, because Fury and Orion are going for completely different experiences. Fury is low to the ground, with faster transitions, while Orion has elements that are higher up, and are more focused towards tallness. I think Orion will be an outstanding addition nonetheless, (I mean, its a B&M giga, it simply can't be a bad ride.) Sorry, just needed to get that out of my system

  8. I think the lighting package on Orion will be one of, if not the best in the world. This thing lights up like Hyper Sonic from Sonic 3 and Knuckles!!

  9. Aye matey! I think he was referring to the fact that when these impressive vessels sailed the seven seas, glass had not yet been invented...so they used wood panels instead. (Life was much more brighter with the coming of glass.)

  10. It literally drowns out a lot of stuff in the station. Only kicks in when the train is fully on the ascent and when the train ahead clears the first block in the brake run. So pretty much all the time lol. The lift is actually pretty quiet when it's on the slower speed. Only takes about 40 seconds to get to the top of the lift at full speed from when the train starts moving, so it's a pretty good timer lol

  11. Yeah, they are really quiet, pretty similar to Banshee's. The lift hill motor is extremely loud though when it's at full speed.

  12. Masks are to protect others, not you. Alternately, an N95 will help to protect the wearer, but you have to be fit tested, wear the correct style of N95 and not have facial hair. Or wear a PAPR, but I dont think they would they would let you on a ride with it on Please wear your masks properly, meaning, cover your mouth and nose with it!

  13. Probably just a reference to the year

  14. Yeah that pretty much defeats the purpose. Please don't encourage that.

  15. I just accidentally clicked on a video of someone reacting to the POV. I do not want to watch the POV! I watched the render, but I want to be surprised by the experience of Orion the first time I get to ride

  18. I also would have liked to see a little more detail on the paint job...but overall it is still great to see it spruced up...especially with our current Covid conditions. I know money has to be tight for the park right now, so it’s nice that they still went to the trouble to do a project that could have easily been postponed another year.

  19. Also, am I the only one who noticed that Orion's anti rollbacks are almost completely silent? I'm not sure if its just the camera or not, but you can hear them in the other giga povs.

  20. I think it will work out pretty well, actually. There’s Orion Cart on that path plus the propping in that photo, so there’s already a segue starting before you walk under Racer. Plus Area 72 is supposed to exist in Kings Island, so it makes sense that you can see things like Orion, etc., from the park.

  21. Interesting choice. It kind of reminds me of the Close Encounters of the Third Kind poster and the font used for that sign does have a 70s/sci-fi kinda look. (Although, it also reminds me of the T2 logo.) But I do wonder how that area transition will work. It seems like it would be somewhat jarring

  22. We are boycotting all Indiana parks this year. Told Holiday World on social media that they are the only "major" park requiring masks. Lets just say they were not very professional. Went to Branson and Gatlinburg/pigeon forge recently and there was ZERO social distancing and wall to wall people. Safest place was the parks since they were requiring masks, but people were pulling their mask/face coverings off any chance they got.

  23. The other issue with the graph you all are debating is the fact that it's total cases. A total case graph is never going to go down!

  24. I don't know about WAY better than Ohio's.. Ohio total covid cases - 48,638, deaths 2,788 Indiana total covid cases - 45,269, deaths 2,595 Yea, based on that Indiana "looks" better, but not WAY better...and doesn't tell the full story. Now look at is based on population - Ohio is 11.7 million compared to Indiana at 6.7 million. Ohio has 5 million more persons than Indiana, yet there is less than a 200 person difference in deaths...which state has it worse... Let's see if Indiana is decreasing or increasing in a couple weeks... And some here may claim well Indiana has more older people, but the breakdown by age per state is comparable: Ohio deaths due to covid: Indiana deaths due to covid:

  25. For what it's worth, the figurehead isn't a mermaid but just a normal woman. I was wondering about her being repainted too - based off this March blog post, she doesn't appear to have been repainted a solid color, but possibly just repainted her original colors (or, possibly, she hadn't been painted yet at all in that photo). As an aside, minor fun fact - that figurehead is standard on most Intamin swinging ships, but she typically doesn't have anything covering her top half. Kings Island is the only park I know of to have covered her.

  26. It's 1,750 for those slots, isn't it? Either way, it's absolutely a recipe for disaster. It makes very little sense to do it this way.

  27. When it first opened, your "destination" on Adventure Express was to be Outpost 5. Later, when Son of Beast was built, it was themed to Outpost 5. It could be a reference to that.

  28. Hopefully not a long term problem. Storm Runner is my favorite steel coaster at HP and my favorite launch coaster.

  29. I have heard there are a lot of Kings Island and Cedar Fair easter eggs scattered around Area 72 which is very exciting! I guess this can be expected with all of the easter eggs on the antique cars, but I can’t wait to check them out!

  30. The biggest gap the Kings Island has their lineup right now is the lack of a large scale multi inverting coaster. Vortex gave us 6 inversions so it would be nice to have a coaster that would make those up somehow. We're also lacking a modern multi launch coaster but personally I would not want to combine a multi launch and a multi inverting coaster just yet. I might be the minority but I prefer traditional chain lift loopers. I feel like when you combine coasters, you limit the opportunity of possible additions down the road.

  32. I tried to share an Instagram post yesterday that featured a couple of videos of Orion and the area from inside the park. Luckily, it didn't work lol. Anyways, it looks like the little shade structures in the que line says outpost something on them. I believe one of them says "outpost 20"

  33. Yesterday I actually posted the original Instagram post here of the Area 72 entrance, but it got taken down pretty quickly. It was also taken down from Instagram. I think it was probably an employee photo that likely was not supposed to have been shared publicly.

  37. Intamin is a company from Switzerland that sold/manufactured many of Kings Island's rides, including Drop Tower, Viking Fury, Eiffel Tower, White Water Canyon, and Congo Falls. They've also manufactured some big roller coasters at other parks, like Millennium Force and Maverick up at Cedar Point.

  38. Are we looking at the same photo? As far as I can see, they covered all the details and didn't bring any of them out... I can't vouch for anything in terms of accuracy to historical sailing ships though. The skull and crossbones has always been on the ship. The whole theming package (skull, windows, figurehead, etc.) is standard on Intamin swinging ships.

  40. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of making a second reservation? If I have to wait until I use one reservation to make another then why make that tweet at all? Its still only one reservation not 2.

  41. That’s a shame. After I saw how much effort went into bringing out the details on the International Street buildings last year, I was hoping to see the same effort on bringing out the details on Viking Fury. Sad to see that is not the case.

  42. So speaking from experience from being at IB yesterday. 95% of the people there were not concerned about there being a pandemic going on. As much as I don't want to have to wear a mask., we had ours on all day except to eat and at the water park. Yes it was hot and got sweaty. All in all though, the benefits outweighed the inconvenience of wearing it, especially since it was not required and most did not have them on. Speaking of masks, not once on a coaster did I feel my mask was coming off. I just had a mask with around the ear elastic band. No issues at all. At the end of the day please protect everyone. Just wear the mask, Is Is a small thing to do to protect yourself and others. Here are KIC members being represented for the local newspaper up by IB on Steel Hawg. As you can see, @malem, @acole5292, and myself all were wearing our masks on an inverted coaster with lots of hang time with no issues. 43. Your mask prevents you from expelling the load of droplets you would normally expel on a coaster ride. My mask protects you, not me. Your mask protects me, not you. If everyone is covered, mouth and nose, and you are also practicing distancing, the likelihood of contact with enough droplets in the air for infection is significantly lowered. That is the principle. And that can work on a fast moving coaster.
