  1. I'm curious too. Just because 99% of people don't die doesn't mean it's "not a big deal". There are plenty of people that are hospitalized, or just feel absolutely awful from it. Some have lasting effects like permanent lung damage. So to say it's "not a big deal" for 99% of the population is patently false.

  5. I think it's the first time recently, but not the first... when the ride opened there used to be a small souvenir stand outside the exit, Adventure Supplies, with a whole collection of totally 90s souvenirs... including this gem: In 2017 there was a four-pack shotglass set with the wooden coasters - Beast, Racer, Mystic Timbers, and... Adventure Express But before that, the best I could ever find was when the ride's logo was on a shirt with all the other coasters.

  6. Here are the lights in action! Edit: Is it just me or does it looks like the lights on the “wave turn“ are not changing colors like the rest of the lights?

  9. This is honestly how I feel. We are EXTREMELY cautious and have not done many things since the pandemic started that we would normally do, but I feel relatively safe going to KI (although I'm still very, very concerned about the whole "everyone arriving at 10:30 and flooding the area by the gate" situation).

  18. The lights are not bright, but their color has a high intensity close to the source with what looks to be dramatic fall off as you move away from ride. I dont think it should detract from The Beast experience but quite possibly add to it with that almost atmospheric glow light filtering through the trees. It should be noticable at the first hill, and the run through the brake shed. I guess we will see how folks feel about it. I say all that with 2 additional points. 1. Light is invisible to the eye unless it has something to reflect off of for us to see it. It will have a tough time making through all those thick trees back there. 2. Light is directional. Those underglow lights are beaming straight up and it was enough for us to see the glow on the clouds above it last night. As will we! We will be there tomorrow night for the first rider event and have a1030 slot on the 2nd.

  19. Definitely the best light package of any B&M! Idk about it being better than Hangtime though. I've heard Hangtime has it hooked up to the midway music.

  20. I was having fun tonight "walking around" K.I. virtually with the Google street view that was "recorded" on Aug 12, 2011. There are already LOTS of things different in the past 9 years (Son of Beast gone, Banshee, antique cars, orion, Vortex and on and on). It would be a shame to just lose this cool immersive view into the past if/when they ever do it again! It's so much easier than looking up old photos etc. I know in Google Earth for desktop you can go back in time through older satellite images, but I don't think they archive old street view images. Is there any effort to archive all the street view images of Kings Island?? I don't even know how to attempt it...

  21. Amen to that! People like to gripe and complain when it's pretty simple: If you want to go to KI, follow their rules. If you are afraid of contracting the virus at KI or other places, don't go! If you think masks are an infringement of your rights, don't frequent businesses that require them. If you support the rights of businesses to operate their business as they see fit, put that into practice! Chill on both sides. It could be much worse--Kings Dominion can only open with 1000 people and therefore they are closed. We could be KD. How much would that suck?

  22. He gets it and y’all should too. A few months ago we weren’t sure if Kings Islands would be open it all this year. Now we have an opportunity to enjoy the Park we all love again. Are masks fun? No. Nobody likes wearing them. But it’s a small ask for such a unique world situation right now. It has nothing to do with freedom. You are choosing to go to Kings Island. Kings Island is choosing to help make their employees safer.

  28. A lot of potential for this spot, whatever is coming down the road I personally want it to be big. In theory, you could fit a 200fter in that spot but the jury's out on the possibility of that happening. Personally I'd like to see the following elements come to KI: a Sea Serpent, a zero-g stall, and a banana roll. Ironically the aforementioned elements can be found on Steel Curtain which is an S&S coaster that hits 200ft in height. I know I've been adamant about the park getting a B&M floorless coaster for quite some time but I also think it would be fitting if S&S came in given their history with Arrow. Plus we could a decent chunk of inversions out of it. (Screenshotted from Ohio Valley Coasters)

  29. I like Indiana Beach, I was very happy hearing that it had been purchased, and I love seeing it reopen. So far the work being done by the new owner looks great, and I look forward to seeing what happens in the future. But I cannot support the park right now. We are in the middle of a world wide pandemic. I do not feel that potentially spreading a deadly disease is worth visiting an amusement park operating in this way right now. Seeing large numbers of people without masks, crowding together, even outdoors, disturbs me. The park might have a handful of signs, but its obvious the management does not care about the health of their guests or employees. Its not just not requiring masks, there is not even a small amount of effort to introduce any social distancing, they are filling any rows including the entire train on rides, the picnic tables where guests are eating are too close together, the line with people standing right next to each other is right next to the tables, etc. When the park was purchased I had decided I would visit the park, possibly more than once, this year, and in a show of my support purchase an annual pass, even if it did only get one use. At this point in time I cannot do any of these things, and instead will be actively avoiding the park. I wish it the best in the future but until this situation is over, I will spend my time and money at other parks. If I get sick, it happens, but I do not have to go out of my way to try.

  34. I'm a simple man. I see Adventure Express merch, I buy it. In all seriousness, I've never felt compelled to be into pin collecting, but I really, really like those. I'm gonna need to find some way of showing those off.

  35. As bright as the lights are, I think there are enough trees between the turn around and that section of The Beast to where they won't be too noticeable. At least, that's what I'm hoping anyway.
