  1. This is the type of Mack I'd want to replace Vortex

  2. I don’t love the song but I think the lights are the best I’ve seen yet. I actually really like what do they before the actual song starts. Did anyone else catch this?

  3. Anyone wish Kings Island properly celebrated Oktoberfest? We have a whole section dedicated to it to my knowledge, the park hasn't celebrated it (I was born in the late 90s so maybe they did before I was born) It would be cool to hear Bavarian music, strudels, beer, and such. Cincinnati is thick with German heritage so I think it could work. The one thing that I can figure why they don't do it is because Cincinnati hosts the 2nd largest Oktoberfest in the world so they might not want to compete in that respect. Thoughts?

  4. Actually I could see them run some fabric from the Eiffel Tower to emulate a giant maypole.

  5. I love the idea! Especially since CF seems to be going after a bunch of interactive seasonal events.

  6. I can see it now....the Eiffel Tower is transformed into the worlds largest Bier Stein..... German music and Bavarian themes....the food....Paradise... Seriously, Kings Island must do this fr.

  7. Believe it or not, it didn't stop. By chance I got an AMAZING blaster (in a car and seat I will not tell) and I was able to hit all of the targets. Some of them multiple times.

  8. My highest score on BB was 3270. Did that back in 2016. Every time I ride, it seems like I either get close to it or not at all lol. But I havent given up.

  9. A MACK Rides extreme spinner would definitely be different enough from Backlot Stunt Coaster and Flight of Fear. I would love something like this one supposed to open next year. This would make up for many of the lost inversions and give Kings Island another “unique” coaster as I know some people have been disappointed over the years with Kings Island getting basic rides like a B&M invert and a B&M hyper (though these rides are still very good).

  10. Apparently FUNtv doesn't have much love for Orion either

  11. The strongest open one at the very least, CP can't really compete while a third of their rides and half of the shops are closed.

  12. I call this piece “Orion Wuz Here”

  13. The piece that i feel Orion is missing is the quick dircetion changes found on Fury before the trebble cleff. To me that was the most distinct part of Fury and was really hoping to see something like that on Orion.

  14. I agree with you on the operations but they have many terrific rides that make the visit worth it in my eyes. Maverick is world class, TTD is an amazing rush, Millennium Force is not just a great ride but also has a great location...from a rides standpoint Cedar Point blows KI out of the water.

  15. Actually, the idea I have is actually how a bandit tries to take over the Miami River Brewing Company that has been serving nice beer and bourbon to the folks visiting Rivertown. Also, the idea is that to compliment the new ride, they bring back the brew fest and have it in Rivertown with live music and stuff (similar to Cedar Point's Frontier Fest.) Also sorry for the double post

  16. Also it seemed like the show worked. I know that it’s such an odd statement, but last year that was almost never the case. They were having network issues with the time code last year. I’m not sure if that was resolved or if this was just a lucky night. None the less, glad I stuck it out to see them.

  17. Its disapointing. Maybe they should move the fireworks launch pad or move to a unique light show end of night parade?

  18. Definitely better this year because they have the fountains fine tuned. Yeah, its shorter, but the improved effects make up for it 110%.

  19. Just got back from Cedar Point. I was expecting things to be not-so great by the reviews I've seen and I could not have been more wrong. It felt just like KI with the exception of 2 things. 1) ALOT of EMT's in red shirts walking around with their packs in the case of anyone needing help. 2) cleaning EVERYWHERE. Everything was either being wiped down or sprayed. On most of the flats they were wiping down seats every cycle. We stayed at the Breakers and it was great. Social distancing and masks were being worn (you always have your occasional people who forget, tapping your mask seems to put them in line). Also even on the beach social distancing was being followed. Also there were signs on the elevators for 1 party at a time and you had to get a temp check every 2 days. They gave you a wristband (they would replace it if it was lost) and you needed it to be on the boardwalk or the beach. We went to Perkins in the hotel and they made sure we all had adequate bands on. There were also tons of shows. all outdoor and all very good. The country show usually in the red garter saloon had a stage set up across the walkway. Nice to see the entertainment department getting some love up there. My granddaughter who is 5 was involved in one of the shows. They would put down hula-hoops to make sure those participating were socially distanced and at the end they gave her a toy yo-yo using "grabbers" as to not touch them. It was very cute. Everything was running and I only noticed about 1 or 2 shops/eateries closed. One other big thing I noticed was on Thursday no games were open at all. They were open Fri-Sun but on Thursday they were all closed up (the ones to the right on the main midway). They must have needed the employees in other places and it's nice to see them not going for the money-grab. All in all we had a great time. Breakers and the park both did an admirable job and we are all glad we went. Kudo's to both the hotel and the park.

  20. I would love to see the park get something insane like an S&S 4D coaster or an Intamin Pre-Fab, but I just don’t see them investing in anything like that. Anything from Intamin or RMC seems unlikely unfortunately. I guess Cedar Fair is working with S&S, but I don’t know if we would receive a major S&S coaster. Aside from B&M, MACK Rides, and Gerstlauer, the craziest thing we could MAYBE get is a GCI Hybrid if they start making them, but that is also very unlikely unfortunately.

  21. The only thing that would top that would be if Firehawk and Vortex were options.

  22. I’m all for a Mack launched coaster but does Kings Island see that as a need when they already have two launching coasters? I think a spinning Mack launched coaster would be different enough. I also think it would be cool if you built a Mack multi launch with 4 trains. 2 of them regular and 2 of them spinning. It’s like two rides in one at that point.

  24. I rode Orion for the first time a few days ago. Rode once in row two and once in row one. Honestly didn’t have super high expectations for it and came off underwhelmed. I really enjoyed fury 325 and leviathan so I was hoping Orion would match leviathan. Hopefully Orion will speed up when it runs full trains next year I’ll definitely be giving it more runs. The first drop and wave turn are fun as are the the last turn and pop into breaks. The middle portion of the ride really did nothing for me.

  25. I’m here today (August 2nd) and the wait lines are borderline insanity. A lot of the more popular rides (Invertigo, Banshee, Etc.) are 40-45 min and Mystic Timbers is a 75 min wait. Haven’t checked Orion yet, but I’d assume it’s in line between those wait times.

  26. Surprised to see this. honestly I’ve been Beyond impressed with the choices mgmnt has made this difficult year regarding the operation of KI. I’m almost thinking we might have the strongest CF park right now.

  29. Ahhh how could I have forgotten that authentic themed experience. STILL wish the entrance to Banshee was routed to that spot, slingshot moved to “action drone”, and the entrance path to Banshee themed (as it is, but with even more) to a European ancient cemetery. Then retheme Adventure Express to remove the “tropical jungle” stuff that is in horrible shape anyway and give it a haunted German mike vibe so the two thrill rides had a unified theme. There’s even a great folklore in the story of the Kobolds. These are little , nasty creatures (almost like gremlins) Kobolds who live in mines are hunched and ugly. The basic theming is there, just give it a freshening you. Add back in a few flats with flags and “festival” decor. Backstory that in this “quaint German village, the festival helps the villagers forget about the sinister spirits lurking in the woods just outside of town.” Maybe even have a village gate you have to pass through to get to the “woods” where Banshee and Kobold are located. Oh well, can dream!

  31. no theyre not going to build a hospital there but if they did, it would be pretty rad, It would be short trip from Adventure Express to the hospital so I can get spinal surgery immediately after

  32. I don't think Cincy was ever the wild west. But then again, there was no giant Beast roaming around or a vine that took revenge on a lumber company in 1983, or a giant metal robot that squeezed things tightly.

  34. Land being seeded and strawed is not necessarily an indicator of how long a plot of land will sit vacant. Per stormwater regulations, any disturbed land that will be left idle for more than 21 days needs to be seeded and strawed, even if they plan on doing construction 25 days from now...contractors complain all the time about that timeframe on active sites and have been known to occasionally move some dirt around to "loophole" that regulation LOL. When they performed the seed and straw may be more of an indicator, except for when it isn't. If they did seed and straw within 2 days of them last disturbing the land, it may imply that it will be sitting idle for more than 21 days but less than a year, so 22 days from now they could begin construction... If they did seed and straw within 7 days of them last disturbing the land, it may imply that it will be sitting idle for more than 1 year. So the bigger question could be when was the last earth movement activities and how many days between it and seed and straw? But even then there are exclusions - is any of the soil considered stockpile or was any of this work near a stream as different time frames and intervals sitting idle come into play. Could seed and straw simply be the final "deliverable" of the demolition contract and the timeframe was accelerated so they could get off the site and get paid? TL:DR - More than likely it will be years, but seed and straw by itself is not an indicator. Any disturbed land sitting idle more than 21 days is required to be seeded and strawed.

  35. The entire plot of land has been seeded and straw applied. If you needed any more indication that it is going to be several years before a replacement is built, that was it.

  36. The fact that the antique cars cut into the Coney Mall midway should be some proof that they wouldn't build another coaster station in that area. Son of Beast's station was built elevated over a valley so I don't see why it couldn't be done again. I think the midway between Coney Mall and Rivertown could be reworked to allow for a coaster The BLSC plaza is huge and takes up a ton of space so I could see them sacrificing that space for a modified midway.

  37. Here's an idea I just came up with. A Mack multilaunch coaster using the terrain (more like what Helix and Time Traveler does) and give it a Disco theme. Think about it! The theme could be a disco party gone wild and the station/queue could have disco music playing and maybe a disco ball with lights! At night this ride would come to life with a nice light package and the lights/disco ball in the station maybe even a way to turn the regular station lights into blacklight!

  40. Glad I passed the test! No, but there are snippets of the source audio here, here, and here. They released a longer section of the Mystic Timbers score on YouTube a few months after that ride opened, so I imagine they'll release a longer section of Orion in the near-future.

  41. I initially had the same thought. It seems they wanted it to fit in a pretty tight space which I think it pretty unique in it of itself. It could've been lower to the ground but I feel like they didn't want to take up anymore land than they had to. Maybe I'm wrong. Nevertheless its unique and different that Fury and Leviathan!

  44. I don’t know how I feel about a disco theme. I am afraid it might look too tacky like the launch coaster right next door. I think the park should make the ride fit the theme of Coney Mall, so it ties in nicely. Honestly, they could just go for an old-school theme and have it playing off the other existing and defunct rides in Coney Mall (think the interior of Coney Bar-B-Q but on a larger scale). Like you said, a nice lighting package would look really good on the ride, and it would fit in so well with all of the other Coney Mall attractions that are already illuminated at night. Coney Mall has a cool night time vibe, and a good lighting package like on Hangtime would make it just that much better.

  46. I think the Disney route is the best route to go for all parks. People who walk around with empty cups and masks off are troublemakers imo, and by fixing the loophole, will force them into compliance

  47. Um I don't think that should be on here. She needs to wear a maks if she is going to the fair but she can't go in there and even at King's island she couldn't leave sak city without putting clothes on.

  48. Orion is doing boarding passes today. They are in 30 minute intervals now. Wonder if they are trying to cut down on the number of people waiting for their time. Put a wrench in our showing up at the end of our time and having a walk on. We had 2-230. Showed up at 220 and waited 20 minutes. Still not bad though.
