  1. I intentionally made this thread as myself in the Rumors forum. Why? Because I did not want a few flags and paint on the ground to turn into "Kings Island is building a new coaster." By putting this thread in the Rumors forum, it is clear KICentral.com is presenting this thread as non factual and is just members having a discussion. The intent for this thread was to point out some flags and speculate on realistic ideas of what they might mean. Please understand, not being open minded to discuss other options and opinions takes the fun out of the thread. You then start hurting your cred

  2. Yes. I think I speak for pretty much all of us when I say Diamondback desperately NEEDS a new coat of paint...

  3. As far as the poster who keeps suggesting that these survey markers are more than they really are...many of us who have been around for a few years can recall that back in 2017, he started an entire thread about a marker in a tree by The Bat. It was an orange or red flag which he said indicated electrical work. He followed the same pattern that he has followed here. The end result of the marker was that it was a dead tree that needed to be removed. No more, no less. So take that into consideration when he suggests major projects. Everyone is free to their own opinions, but IMHO, this web

  4. Ignoring the fact that Cedar Fair executives have stated in interviews that they do not intend to build an entrance coaster at Kings Island because they like the entrance and feel a coaster could ruin the look and feel. Some of those individuals have moved on, its possible plans have changed. Also my guess is if they do build an entrance coaster it would stay off to the side and not pass over or under the entrance. Your not wrong building to the entrance would come from that direction, but here’s the thing, it would also likely be closer to the park and not directly over that road where

  7. Something people need to keep in mind is the 50th anniversary is coming and frankly corporate is going to want the park looking as good as possible. Tearing down an aging station which is only used for a haunt just to clean up the park could easily be justified, also being 20 years old it might need inspections or maintenance that they do not wish to perform. The 50th is going to happen once, and they will want to take advantage of it. The park is going to have modifications which have likely been planned for a little while now between now and 2022, and anything after that might be totally

  8. Not going to lie, I wish they planted more pine trees around The Beast to reinforce some of that wooded vibe they had. Maybe even bring back the lake if they could do some minor construction around the turn around. We definitely have a decent area to work with in The Vortex plot, the terrain change that they have there could be great for a Dive or launched coaster. I personally would like to see a steel coaster that could hypothetically work in the Winterfest season, as I think something like that would work to expand the capacity and line up for that season.

  9. I took you off the ignore list to see your response. The website is not credible because you are a content creator for it. You have an agenda and that is to push your narrative and drive traffic to your website. That is a conflict of interest. When asked to source your information, you source that website and entries you created. The reason the marker near The Bat was on KIC was because you created the thread. If everything was double checked on your website, it was a result of you double checking your creation. Brad created this thread for discussion. Your outl

  15. That section has been though pretty significant changes. It never had a true, permanent identity. I consider Action Zone to be in 2 parts- the pre-2014 side and the post 2014 side. The pre 2014 side consists of Invertigo, Drop Tower, and Congo Falls- these rides weren't really touched when the 2014 season began. The post-2014 side was affected at the start of the 2014 season and consists of Banshee, Delirium, Bat, and Skyflyer. Its like pre-2014 reflects Paramount where as post 2014 reflects on Cedar Fair. In my opinion the pre-2014 side needs to catch up to match the post-2014 side. I th

  16. Call me stupid but all this conversation seems like nonsense in the midst of a pandemic. Literally the only thing we have seen is markers on Columbia Rd. Now we’re talking about a new coaster spanning from SOB station? Based on an open electrical box apparently we’re getting a new coaster. There is literally nothing to suggest this except one member pushing views to his site and another one that must be a fanboy of his. It ain’t happening!

  17. I would think they would want to fill the empty Vortex spot quickly. Yes we did just get Orion and yes the park is likely hurting for money this year losing WinterFest and Haunt but I do think that space is too valuable to leave open.

  19. I understand that. You know more than me regarding construction that is for sure. That being said, you cant say the road is being removed. That is blatant false information. I dont know how you dont see the problem here.

  21. Really? That's news I haven't seen/heard anywhere yet. Are there new markings/flags? Is there equipment onsite? Do you have pictures? For those of us who cannot make it to KI right now, we would be interesting in any data you have to share...

  22. The thing is, should KI pursue building a front gate coaster (only park in top 5 CF properties without one), they would need to come up alongside the road that already exists (no need to build over office buildings) In fact, using the old SOB station allows a great opportunity for a coaster along the front entrance and a weenie for Action Zone. One could easily put a ride similar to Helix at the front (would work well with the trees).

  23. True, however, the oldest steel coaster in the park is Adventures Express. CP’s oldest steel coaster is 22 years older.

  24. Unfortunately though they had a lot of old, steel coasters. They all have to come down at some point. I agree with you though that it would be pretty excessive to see three go in three years (with one replacement). Since steel coasters have a limited life and wood coasters have an indefinite life, I'm curious about the lifespan of RMC hybrids. I think that might depend on how much the i-beam track costs to replace. @BeastForever Thank you for your factoid on The Beast and Racer supports. Few would ever guess that.

  25. I might get banned for this but you've given him too much slack. There are people who have been fed up for a while with the blatant misinformation. I argue there are certain people who cry wolf just to get the attention. Look at all the arguments (aside from mine) that have flooded this thread. Meanwhile there is a website, that we're pretty much all familiar with by now, that's racking up the views and hits because their content is still popping up and being shared on this site. I made a logical argument about a shuttle. I provided a solid argument as to why I think it might be a shuttl

  27. I feel like people will prefer 200ft range which has more common with hypers, dives, and so on. Personally I prefer the 100-199ft height range. Such great coasters have been built in the low 100s- Mystic, Maverick, & Copperhead Strike to name a few. Fun fact the current average height for KI's coasters is just under 105ft

  28. True, but when they closed Son of Beast in 2009, I don't think they knew if it would be permanent or not. I believe they left it there because they were deciding whether to tear it down and build a ground up coaster or just fix the ride and reopen it. I believe they looked at all options and decided in 2012 that it would be better to just demolish the coaster and build something new there.

  29. Are we going to pretend the park hasn't already left vacant things stay as they are when they left up Son of Beast for as long as they did? I don't think they're that afraid to leave Vortex's spot vacant for longer periods of time.

  30. When you mark an area in white for construction, it is an excavation. You can not excavate a road without removing it.

  31. Except, there have been dozens of markers, work at the SOB station, and the cutting of electrical wires at SOB station. Given the chain’s previous spending patterns, I wouldn’t be surprised if there is something going on. BTW, road is being removed entirely, so that should give an indication of what we are dealing with.

  34. Where did you find that? Is that another Coaster Nation concept?

  35. No we have “seen” a single marker at an electrical box that somehow led you to SOB station being torn down and a new coaster. Then lights being on have confirmed it along with an open electrical box. All you do is try to drive traffic to your conspiracy theory website. If anyone forgets you did confirm a Giga coaster based on a drainage pipe. Credit:@gforce1994 and his conspiracy website.

  37. Perhaps the station has outlived its usefulness. Its possible this might've been planned for a while. Maybe Mr. Koontz is trying to phase out the recycled haunt buildings like SOB. The Killmart building was repainted to go along with the Antique Autos. Wolfpack is out of the way of the public eye for the most part, unless of course you ride The Bat, so if it got torn down not as many people would notice. The attraction's been around since what 2010? Its going on 10 years of service so maybe they're gonna demo the building or put a more modern haunt in it.

  38. We love going on roller coaster roadtrips, but work and family obligations often don’t allow us to have much time for them as we would like. In August 2020, we had a rare weekend with nothing planned, and we know it was time to hit the road to ride some coasters. We did not have a ton of time, but we knew we could get a few parks in with the time that we had. I was able to schedule a half day off work on Friday, allowing us to hit the road around lunch time, so we did our prep work Thursday night. We packed up the car, loaded some movies onto the kids ipads, and bought way more junk

  40. That would be cool, but I think Cedar Fair would like to do that type of thing at a park like Cedar Point, Carowinds, Canada’s Wonderland, it California’s Great America before doing that at Kings Island.

  41. Its really sad to see @gforce1994 having to keep being reminded to actually prove his points time after time, almost as if he can't or doesn't want to. If you have to keep being browbeaten to do this, you're clearly not a reliable source of information, regardless of how much alleged knowledge you claim to have. And I've been to Coaster Nation, its a pretty hacky site when it comes to park industry news.

  44. Not to mention, even if you don't die—there's a myriad of other reasons that make this a serious issue whether it's long term effects or simply not spreading it to those who can't afford to be out of work or are the only ones providing for a family, etc. Wash your hands. Wear a mask. And just give a darn about your fellow human. The more we do all that, the sooner this is all over.

  45. Whether there has or hasn't been an outbreak tied to Indiana Beach doesn't seem like the best assessment of their approach. Hopefully there haven't been any outbreaks there or anywhere else. While so much is still unknown about this virus, from what little we do know, at least about effective measures to reduce its spread, any lack of outbreak would seem to be in spite of their approach. You can factor in that it's located in a remote area with very low known virus presence, but they certainly draw visitors from Indy and the region, which have seen significant transmission.
