  1. They could still benefit from a Jeb themed turtle exhibit.

  2. Busch Gardens is actually named after the Busch family who own the company that manufactures Budwiser beer(Anheuser Busch). The park in Tampa opened as a bird and beer garden before amusement park rides were added. The park in Willisburg was built later. It is themed to a trip around the world instead of focusing on having animals.

  3. I think the Busch parks do a great job at landscaping. Cedar Fair certainly has room to improve in that area.

  5. Thanks my dude!!!! But this roller caster looks boooooorrrrriiiiinnnnnnggggg. Dad said we may go to bush garden if this stupid virus ever goes away. I think it is so cool that an old president of the county of the united states opened up his own theme park. Was it the dad president or the son president???

  6. I owe Chef Major an apology. I was one that wondered why no tarter sauce for the Cod sandwich at Brewhouse but I finally tried it yesterday and the sauce already on it along with the slaw was great. My only suggestion would be to eat it upside down as the condiments are on the bottom and tend to spill out but other than that I'll be having it again. I made sure to hunt down chef and let him know it was great and to also congratulate him on how he's upping the game in food at the park. While on the subject I would love rivertown potato works to offer an option of toppings (pick pork or chicken, pick buffalo or bbq for the sauce). Buffalo pork may not be used much but I would definitely go for a bbq chicken offering. I may try and ask them to substitute today and see how it goes. Finally I'm hoping next week brings back the macaroni bar. It's always a favorite of mine. I can honestly say now that Kings Island isn't just a place to go for entertainment and rides but fantastic food offerings as well. My compliments (and one apology) to the chef!

  10. So, I am finally off next weekend as I am taking a brief vacation. I'm feeling a bit optimistic about the virus enough to make a trip to KI to get a FLP and blitz through the coasters and bigger rides, with much attention on Orion as I've not ridden it yet. Only going for a few hours in the evening to get a DB, Banshee or Beast night ride fix as well.

  17. Maybe I'm just a Cedar Fair fanboy but I'm not too fond of how Six Flags' operates their parks. Quantity over quality is obviously their business model as evident with their numerous parks, cheap reproductions, endless supply of sponsorships on rides and mostly non original IP rides. I wish they would sell off some of their smaller parks and focus on delivering a higher quality of attractions to their larger ones. I'd argue their smaller parks would receive more love under another chain like Herschend and Sea World or if they were independently run like Adventureland or Kentucky Kingdom. The DC themes seem kinda tacky to me. The rides themselves are fine, most of them are extraordinary as a matter of fact. It just seems like a lazy and cheap practice to keep naming rides after comic book characters. For example, Great Adventure's 4d freespin was going to be named "Total Mayhem" but instead they opted to name it Joker. I'm sure they get some cash from WB to theme their rides after their characters but it just seems effortless. Compare them to Cedar Fair who've created original IPs like Mystic Timbers, Maverick, Copperhead Strike, Orion, Banshee, Steel Vengeance, and so on. Also cloning. Now I've talked about how Cedar Fair should buy cloned rides for their smaller parks but Six Flags does it for most if not all of their parks. Almost every park has a Batman clone, a 4d freespin, a larson loop, a giant frisbee and so on and so fourth. They've gotten a little better at this with their larger parks but its still mind blowing. I know being the discount chain is kind of their thing but I'm honestly not a big fan of that mentality.

  19. I agree with the Herschend and Busch level of themeing and landscaping. One of the things that amazed me about BGW is that in a lot of cases you can't really see other areas of the park until you are in them. I also like the amount of varied merchandise like blacksmith shops, candle shops, and wood crafts.

  20. I don't mean to be that guy, but we are getting a little off topic here. This is a thread about The Vortex plot of land and the area around it. Not what should other theme parks do.

  22. I think taking what they can learn from Busch and Herschend is the best way. Theming and landscaping as Benjamin22 said would both really improve the experience of the parks. Cloned off the shelf rides for cheaper additions to the lower tier parks would be alright too I think if it means they will get some more attention. I feel like parks should try to have their own identity with different offerings, but many of the low tier parks like MA rarely see new stuff so any love to them would be good.

  30. Their social media says Saturdays (but not only and made no reference to Sundays) but the signage at the wishbone clearly says it’s Saturday and Sunday... I just haven’t tried going on a Sunday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  33. When I read the title, I was thinking a Mouse Mascot. I would love for us to get a wild mouse coaster although I don't see it happening.

  34. When we visited Carowinds last summer my daughters absolutely loved Ricochet. I really wish we had a wild mouse at KI. The nearest one to us is at Michigan's Adventure which we had planned on visiting just for the wild mouse this summer, but we all know why we could not. I think a wild mouse at KI would be a great addition, and would love to see it squeezed in by the Festhaus, or behind the Eiffel Tower next to BLSC.

  35. Pantheon is an intamin multi launch going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The reason it isn't likely to happen at KI is Cedar Fair's relationship with intamin.

  36. I definitely agree with more trees, but I don't really want the lake to return. When I ride The Beast, a lot of times I see a bunch of groundhogs in the grass patch in the middle of turn out of the station. I always think it's cool to see. But, if the lake returns, I don't think we would see them as much.

  39. The one at CW isn't that popular with the GP... In a typical cycle, it's rare to look at the scoreboard and see more than half a dozen of the seats get a single full rotation, or more than 2 get double digits... This is purely due to the riders, not the cycle... Doesn't help that they lessened how far the wings go to make it harder to rotate due to a few people getting crazy high rotations... The average rider though just moves the wings around like a bird thrown out of the nest for the first time... The end result is that very few people give it a second go due to a disappointing first ride...

  42. On a Facebook post by the Tecumseh School District it was announced that Guil Herrick has passed away. Many of you may have seen Guil working security at Kings Island. His full time job was a teacher for the Tecumseh school district. I didn’t know him well, but the times I’ve talked with him he was always a funny and nice guy. So sad.
