  1. I like the idea of a museum with a model layout of the park. Showing all the rides and attractions. It would also be nice to have a couple of new flat rides that were from the past such as Skylab, Wheel of Fortune or Phantom Theatre. A couple of the old shows like say Celebration and the clown band brought back. Those are all smaller ideas due to COVID-19 destroying revenue this year. Would Love another New Coaster but, understand finances might be tight over the next couple years. Went to the park on year 1 and looking forward to year 50 and Hopefully year 75. See ya Saturday at the park.

  3. Maybe put one out in the parking lot which reads: ”Former location of our parking lot with no pot holes...circa 1974”

  5. From my experience, Invertigo and Banshee are noticeably more intense/have more positive G's. Orion is not very intense outside of its helix, a.k.a. "Orion's Belt," where you will likely gray out to some extent.

  6. After some further sleuthing, it looks like Nagashima Spa Land added one, called Sky Trainer, in 1990. I cannot find any information on its closure, but it sounds like it was for sure gone by 2007 (though I'd assume it was removed in the late 1990s when most of them were). Here's an old commercial of the ride: I edited my previous post to include this one in the list. Edit - After some further sleuthing, it looks like the ride was removed for the addition of the park's Giant Frisbee in 2004 (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/ナガシマスパーランド#かつて存在したアトラクション)

  7. I was at Nagashima Spa Land last year and I am pretty confident they do not have one. So I started doing some searches, and I found a map from 2007 on Theme Park Review. I cannot find it on the map and according to that previous post from 2007 it should have been installed and operating.

  8. I've always been interested in the Intamin Flight Trainers and have compiled a list of all of them. As far as I know, there are no remaining Flight Trainers anywhere in the world. Kings Dominion (1989 to 1998) - Removed California's Great America (1989 to 1999) - Removed Knott's Berry Farm (1990 to 1997) - Relocated to Seibuen Yuenchi in Japan Kings Island (1990 to 1995) - Relocated to Flamingoland Rye Playland (1991 to 1991) - Removed Flamingo Land (1996 to 2004) - Relocated from Kings Island. Removed. Seibuen Yuenchi (>=1997 to Unknown) - Relocated from Knott's Berry Farm. Removed. Nagashima Spa Land (1990 to <=2003) - Removed I haven't personally seen anything regarding one at Nagashima Spa Land, but it's always hard to find older information on international parks and I wouldn't be surprised if they had one (though they don't appear to anymore). I'd love to learn more if anyone knows anything about that one. Edit - Corrected claim that the one from Seibuen Yuenchi came from Knott's Berry Farm. 11. Cedar Point is getting a parade, festivities, and probably a coaster in their 2 year 150th celebration. So I’m guessing KI will get a 50th anniversary logo and maybe some paint and it will be “exactly the celebration they asked for” just like Orion was.

  13. I can’t picture the park ever having a museum....it would only remind guests of rides they might miss...they always want to have everyone looking into the future, not the past. (Not that I wouldn’t love to see one though.) My number one thing would be for a red, white & blue Racer for the anniversary.

  14. Kings Island NEEDS competition. If Kentucky Kingdom was owned by Cedar Fair, they would receive less investment and as a result of Kentucky Kingdom’s lack of investment, there would be no need for Kings Island to continue with large investments. Because of Kentucky Kingdom’s frequent investment, we are seeing Kings Island getting more investment as well I like it where it is now with Kings Island and Kentucky Kingdom competing for guests.

  15. I see a lot of hate for this ride, but I would love to see Scooby Doo and The Haunted Mansion return. That ride was my childhood and is the reason I love Scooby Doo. But, I know that's wishful thinking since they would need to get the rights back. I would also love to see some of the old Oktoberfest and Coney Mall rides return like Der Springing Keggers, Bayern Curve, Hailey's Comet, and Skylab. I kind of want to see the Tumble Bug return too.

  16. It's kind of hard to believe that in 2022 Kings Island will turn 50 YEARS OLD! So, here's the question: What are some things that you would like Kings Island to do? Is there an old attraction that you want see come back? Maybe a Kings Island museum?
    1 point
  17. Agreed. I'd say the distance between parks has to be a minimum of 4 hours away. KI and CP, Carowinds and KD, Worlds of Fun and Valley Fair, CGA and Knotts are all a significant distance away from one another with the shortest distance being 4 hours between KI and CP. Instead of Holiday World, Cedar Fair would probably want Six Flags Great America. Instead of Kentucky Kingdom Cedar Fair would probably want Dollywood. Not that they'd ever have a shot at acquiring either park but the point is that they don't really overlap. Holiday World and Kentucky Kingdom are both in overlapping markets.

  18. The Flying Bob's from Coney Island open tomorrow at Indiana Beach. @CoastersRZ, you can ride them again.

  19. Any corporation that would acquire Holiday World would no doubt in my mind ruin the park, and since Kings Island is within a couple hour driving distance, I don't think it would work out financially since you would be competing with yourself in that market, and would ultimately Geauga Lake that park.

  21. I did go to Boogie Mountain once, then swore off it! Once TI opened, that indeed was the spot for kids whose parents weren't so eager to drive 2 hours to what was then Water Works (or 16 year olds that didn't want to spend the gas $ to/from Cincy). Over time, TI added batting cages, a (fairly sub par) mini golf course and (a pretty decent) tube slide, in addition to the Blue, Red and Orange body slides. For a long time, it was all inclusive, but the last year or 2, they went to tiered pricing. Between the cost of insurance and the owner's IRS troubles (he decided he didn't like paying taxes), that was the end..I drive by the old site on occasion on my way north. You can still see a section of the (very faded) entrance sign, and the remnants of the gravel parking lot. I know some urban explorers have gone back into the site through the overgrowth in the past to film, but given what's prob back there, you won't catch me doing that! I thought I noticed some excavating equipment clearing out the site though, this past weekend, so perhaps it's getting developed. Wake up Indiana, Thunder Island's got the feel..

  25. I’d definitely bring back “plight” or something similar to somewhere in Rivertown. Maybe even move Santa to a different location and use that space as a small indoor theatre for the show. Santa could move over to Kill Mart shell and do a 1950s department store Santa land to tie into Tinsel Town. The horse cartridge loading area could move back further to WindSeeker area. I also like the idea of a small “blue grass Christmas” act in the Gazebo. In Rivertown or put them on the porch and have Jingle Jazz at the train station.

  27. This may sound weird, but I'm actually thinking of keeping the masks around post-pandemic for use during flu season each year. Knowing how effective they can be, I'd certainly like another level of protection against the flu, especially being that my immune system has some trouble with it at the initial start whenever I get it.

  28. I'd love to see a repaint of Racer and the return of the backwards racer. I would also maybe like to see something similar to Disney's Carousel of Progress, but for Kings Island history. It would be nice to have an air conditioned place to relax and learn about the park. The attraction would include the opening of the park, The Beast, orion, and also mishaps like the original bat and Son of Beast. Whatever KI wants, they could use. It could also show the different ownership and their visions (Paramount, CF, etc.).

  29. If a museum is not in the works . . I would like to see them post signs around the park marking historic spots with pictures and history. Maybe mark spots of former attractions/rides at their originally locations. Not permanent just for the 50th Anniversary season.

  30. I would love to see The Racer repainted with its original red trim on one track and the blue trim on the other. The park did hint around about it last summer but with Covid who knows now what will happen. I would also love to see a Phantom Theater 2.0. Retheme backlot coaster too while we are at it. The containers are getting really rusty and look bad. Bring back the original fountains too. Use The Vortex plot for a seasonal event like Monster Jam or new Haunts during the fall.

  31. Something I've been given a lot of thought to these past few days. Throughout 2020 the general theme has been to socially distance. Hopefully when a proven vaccine becomes available people are going to want to go out and travel and experience their 1st real freedom in over a year; assuming things get back to normal in 2021 hopefully. Acquiring a smaller park might encourage more travel. I already talked about how Adventureland would be a good test park for this since its in between Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair which could encourage more people to travel between parks. The 1st season they could get in with their regular season passes then at the end of the season they could be encouraged to upgrade to platinum for the next season. Aside from Adventureland I don't know what other smaller parks that Cedar Fair would want to try this with. Again the concept would be to acquire smaller parks that reside in between other properties to boost platinum passes. They could be really bold and put in a bid for Six Flags America to bridge the gap between Kings Dominion and Dorney Park but that would be a stretch since they'd be acquiring yet another under performing park and would most likely become another Geauga Lake. In theory CF could purchase Scene 75 and operate both centers (which happen to be in Ohio). KI and CP pass holders could get certain discounts and the chain would still be making some money in the Ohio market during the winter months during the off-season

  33. Here's one interesting 50th anniversary idea that I have. Maybe Kings Island could get rid of Boo Blasters, without tearing down the show building of coarse. By doing that they could re-theme the ride back to, wait for it, The Phantom Theater! I think if Kings Island did that, I'm willing to bet that it'll probably please a good amount of their fans. Below is some old concept art for the ride.

  34. Yeah...I think this would be a great addition to Kings Island. I can just see people faces when one of the trains just soars through the air on no track. Its like God gave up on Physics on this coaster...lol

  35. Definitely love the idea for The Racer! But, if they were to add a Kings Island museum, they could probably use one of these two places. #1: They could use the Kings Island Theater located near the front entrance. Or #2: They could use the old Action Theater, A.K.A the place currently used the Urgent Scare maze during Halloween Haunt.

  36. Would be cool to see a Zamperla Super Air Race maybe in the Area 72 and continue to expand that area. The ride fits the theme.

  38. "Cedar Fair defined what a giga coaster is. The coaster enthusiasts did not define that. Cedar Fair defined a giga coaster as being either a height or a drop of at least 300 feet, and it [Orion] meets that definition."--Mike Koontz

  41. I wouldn't mind having Flash: Vertical Velocity moved to Kings Island. The zero g roll is something unique and the ride itself seems like it wouldn't be too complicated to remove and rebuild. I am sure there are plenty of spots it could fit in at Kings Island.

  42. I think you'd be fairly disappointed, as they would be inclined to pull from the currently popular Nickelodeon IPs. I don't think kids today really know about Rocket Power, the Wild Thornberrys, Hey Arnold, or heaven forbid Jimmy Neutron.

  44. NO! and yes. I prefer Phantom Theater

  45. Think Der Spinning Keggers would be a great addition to Okoberfest, and be a new flat ride that we don't have in our current line up. Biggest return I would love though is Phantom Theatre. It was a great dark ride and Scooby and Boo Blasters are terrible compared.
